A quick little video recommended for all who are new to Thermomix. Learn to make a family-sized batch of home-made mayo and you’ll feel like you’ve won the lotto.  Mayonnaise is so versatile and useful, and it’s even better when we can control what’s in the jar. Let’s watch and cook-along with Australia’s Tracie (aka TracieD.)  as she adapts her family’s favourite mayo recipe for Thermomix. With a family of six to feed, TracieD uses a lot of mayo, but remember — this super-sized recipe is also perfect for dividing up into smaller jars and gifting — especially when personalized with the addition of your own special herbs and flavours. Thermomix celebrated a multifaceted victory in Spain this past week with the announcement of record-breaking sales of 96.5 million euros in 2011 — an increase of more than 3% over 2010. Even more remarkable is that this feat was achieved despite — and quite possibly because of — an economic downturn. No matter how you slice it, these are numbers to be proud of in a country where economic woes are more likely to be front page news.

Wherever we click it’s now easy to find all types of bread recipes using healthier ingredients. In part this is due to the ‘mainstreaming’ of ingredients once only seen at health food stores. When I began working for Canada’s health food magazine in 1986 ingredients such as chia, flax, hemp seeds, stevia and quinoa where unknown to all but the “crunchy granola” crowd. Not so anymore.
