I hope you’re enjoying a happy 2009 –welcome to the SuperSlow Zone® at Silver Creek! The New Year has arrived, and you know what that means. After two months of eating, drinking and making merry, people around the world are resolving to turn over a new leaf, to make a fresh start, to toss out bad habits and adopt new ones. I wasn’t AS bad as I know I “could have been” – but, boy, some of those cookies just screamed for indulgence! And for a huge majority of those making those resolutions – at least here in the USA – the most popular resolution is to lose weight and get in shape. Is it on yours?

Of course, resolutions are one thing…sticking to them is something else entirely. Most of us know all too well that losing weight and getting in shape can be hard – especially in the middle of winter, with bathing suit season so far away and any extra pounds safely hidden under layers of warm clothing. We have to remember, fitness is a process, NOT an event. But for many, by the time spring is rolling around, most New Year’s resolutions to slim down and firm up will be as distant a memory as New Year’s Eve fireworks.

But the fact that you’re here means your resolution will be easier to keep. Because by coming to the SuperSlow Zone®, you’ve given yourself an advantage – you’ve started a program that is amazingly easy to stick to – and even better, one that works super fast. Believe it or not, an entire SuperSlow® workout only takes 20 minutes. Even better, you only need to come in one or two times a week to start achieving the results you want. It may be the way you look, or the way you feel, or both – but you WILL see differences.

How can you achieve a firm, lean, healthy body without spending hours in the gym every week? The secret is in how the SuperSlow® system works, getting the absolute most out of every muscle in the absolute least amount of time. So with fewer trips to the gym to have to make time for, and with each of those trips doing the maximum amount for your body in the minimum amount of time, adding SuperSlow® to your life is one New Year’s resolution that won’t be hard to keep. And next year at this time, you’ll look so amazing; you’ll have to find something else to resolve to do. Like, refresh that wardrobe to show the “new you” off…or maybe take on scuba diving….! What that is will be entirely up to you.

Not sure this is for you? Come in for a free consultation and demo workout, PLUS get an additional workout – on us! If you don’t feel it’s amazing, there’s no obligation – but we KNOW you’ll feel the power once you try it out!

And, if like me you have mixed emotions about those daffodils starting to pop out while worrying about a mandatory water rationing program, take heart – and enjoy the beauty of our wonderful state, taking advantage of the glorious weather we DO have by sharing a walk with a friend – or dog!

One of the interesting aspects I’ve noticed now that I’m doing SuperSlow® is how I look at people differently. Watching the t.v. the other week, we saw Caroline Kennedy waving from behind a podium. You know what I noticed? Her arms. Not just how thin they were, but how they lacked muscle and had, well, the dreaded “wings”. My first reaction was, “Caroline, you need SuperSlow®”. I see potential all around me, and given how exciting it is to see clients improvements, I just want to spread the wealth and see that with everyone.

Admittedly, exercise isn’t just about vanity. But, it’s often vanity that drives us to it. Which is why January is filled with oh-too-many resolutions to either 1) lose weight or 2) exercise more – or both. Why? We’re tired of seeing ourselves in the mirror when we KNOW we CAN do better – and should. But sometimes, it’s not until our body fails us that we finally take hold of ourselves, shake our own shoulders and say “Time to get to work”.

But then, despite the best efforts, a good percentage of us fail. We start off well, charging ahead, dieting to lose those pounds, joining a gym then…. The novelty wears off. Diets are, well, often too extreme a behavioral change, and psychologically the weight loss isn’t enough to keep going. And exercise? Shoot, I’m not seeing the results I want, and it just plain takes too much time.

Or does it?

There is a better way. Taking on small, manageable behavioral changes to your diet – like, stopping when you are full (listening to your body). Changing from saturated to monosaturated fats (the “anti-belly fat” food group). Smaller portions – even if of the same food. Drinking more water. Little things, leading you toward a healthier you.

As for time to exercise? Hah! Now, don’t use that excuse with us at SuperSlow! 20 minutes, twice a week, makes it easy to fit exercise in AND get results you’ll be proud of. You’re worth it, and it takes no more time that waiting in line to order and then get that latte each morning.

So, as we head into 2009, make those resolutions – we’ll make it easy for you to keep them. Come for that free consultation AND additional workout in the month of January to see what SuperSlow is all about – then, let’s work on getting you fit!

Meanwhile, tip of the month: Almonds have amazing dietary “superpowers” – building muscle, fighting cravings, burning abdominal flab (mono-saturated fats, remember?)….fighting obesity and heart disease, muscle loss, wrinkles, cancer AND high blood pressure. Toss a handful into your morning cereal, grab a handful as an afternoon snack (don’t use the salted or smoked ones so you don’t spike your blood pressure), or throw sliced ones onto your salad or pasta.

As we say in our church, rather than “Happy New Year”, “Happy New You!”

Welcome to the SuperSlow Zone®. Is it November already? Must be – my boys are already putting in their list for Christmas. Mind you, the video games THEY request don’t do anything but exercise their fingers to the point of cramping – much like many of you who get locked into your desks at your keyboards. Luckily for them, and you, the twenty-minute SuperSlow workout ensures they build their muscular infrastructure, with a minimum time commitment.

The holidays make your choice to put exercise a priority a challenging one – who has the time? Well, you SuperSlow® users know YOU do. But watching the diet is also a challenge, with the plethora of sweets out there. Just keep it balanced, do your portion control, and keep the RIGHT types of fluids pouring into your body. There are great tips abounding to focus you on the reason for holiday celebrations, and away from the destruction caused by bad eating habits or behaviors.

Along those lines, maintain some balance by…:

Of all things, did you know that getting sweaty can help your skin? Regular exercise reduces your insulin levels and stress hormones, which, when elevated, can trigger the production of breakout-boosting sebum. (Source: Women’s Health/November 2008)

1-2 cups of tea daily does your heart good – but make it fresh-brewed; ready-to-drink teas don’t offer the same benefits, as the catechins degrade once water is added. Also, adding milk may eliminate tea’s protective effects on the cardiovascular system, so stick to lemon or honey.

Drink that water! Drinking just one or more regular OR diet cola daily doubles your risk of metabolic syndrome (including high blood pressure, elevated insulin levels, and excess fat around the waist). PLUS the phosphoric acid in soda may contribute to bone loss by changing the acid balance in your blood. Better choices (besides water) are tea or coffee, or sparkling water if you need the bubbles…subjects in a California study who sipped more than 4 cups of water a day lost 2 additional pounds compared to those who drank less. (Source: Prevention/December 2008)

There’s something about purple….concord grapes, blueberries, grape juice (the purple kinds), and red wine all get their deep colors from polyphenols – compounds that reduce heart disease risk and may also protect against Alzheimer’s.

Eating 14 cups of vegetables a week raise blood levels of many protective anti-oxidants. That, in turn, may help preserve your long-term memory and learning capabilities, even as you age. In addition, your veggies reduce risk of stroke, cardiovascular disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes, and obesity – so, load up those veggies on your holiday plates! And if you don’t (can’t?) get enough to meet your requirements, talk to us about the great Univera supplements that make it easy to do so!

And, again, I know we’ve mentioned it before, but healthy nuts are as a good alternative for snacking or appetizers – walnuts and almonds are high in omega-3’s, fiber, keep you fuller, longer, and have been supportive to weight and body fat loss, while even showing reduced insulin levels. Bonus: those Omega-3’s also help your lips by replacing old skin cells with new ones. So, munch away…

So, watch your calories and health by making just small changes, and pat yourselves on the back for putting your health and fitness on the top of your personal gift list!

SuperSlow Zone Owner in Flemington, New Jersey

For 20 years Kevin was a financial planner for a major credit card company and owner of two retail video sales and rental stores.

In March 2004, he was introduced to SuperSlow and had great results with a longtime back pain problem. After a few months the shoulder pain he normally encountered whenever his arms were extended upwards was gone.

So impressive were his SuperSlow results that Kevin decided to make a career change. In June 2005 he became a certified SuperSlow instructor and opened a thriving SuperSlow Zone franchise in Flemington, N.J.

Kevin is committed to helping his clients achieve and maintain the same spectacular results that compelled him to open his SSZ.

Welcome to the SuperSlow Zone®. October is here, which means in just a few weeks, you’ll no doubt be up to your eyeballs in candy as the neighborhood kids make the annual trek to your door begging for Halloween treats. Maybe you’ll be manning the door, maybe you’ll be out there following your own children in costume, or like me having your children man the doorbell! And if you’re like most people, that candy can be pretty tempting…sitting there in that bowl by the door. And if Halloween falls on a slow night, there’ll be plenty of leftovers…

Of course, Halloween is only the beginning. Next comes Thanksgiving, then all, those Christmas parties and finally New Year’s Eve, when you try to squeeze into your sexiest party outfit and wind up second-guessing your decision to go out at all. Add colder weather that makes it harder to get outside and exercise, and it’s no wonder so many people around the world end up resolving to get in shape on New Year’s Eve, following months of letting their bodies go.

But clearly, you are not one of those people. You are here right now. Which means you aren’t going to let the season wreak havoc on your body. You’re going to let SuperSlow® transform your body into the strongest, sleekest fat-burning machine it has ever been. So this New Year’s Eve, you can concentrate on something far more productive. Like maybe getting a big raise. Or planning that next vacation. Or getting some well-needed rest….

You’ll definitely be looking sharper by New Years, because SuperSlow® works super fast – regardless of what kind of shape you’re in right now. Whether you’ve been working out religiously or have spent the last several years parked on the couch, a workout of just 20 minutes, one to two times a week, will deliver amazing results. This is because SuperSlow® workouts are specially designed for you, to work with your level of fitness and maximize results. And yes, we know 20 minutes a week sounds crazy, but we promise it’s not. Our unique systems gives all the power of a major workout just two 20-minute sessions. So you can get on with the gym and get on with your life. Which, at this time of year, is bound to be pretty busy! Even 20 minutes too much? Well, Fitness Magazine contains a quote from Robert Sallis, M.D., former president of the American Medical Association that says “Working out is the single most important thing you can do to live longer.” Exercise is medicine. A simple message – throw it into your health toolkit along with brushing and flossing your teeth or taking your vitamins.

Now, in keeping with my effort to keep on top of the “latest”, here are this month’s factoids to consider:

Back pain? Researchers found a deficiency in vitamin D (especially noticeable in midlife women) can lead to bone softening – and the first sign of bone trouble is often in your lower back. Have your doctor check your vitamin D levels and, if low, talk to them about the most effective way to get more into your body. (Source: More.com magazine)

Want more muscle? Potassium-packed fruits and vegetables counteract the effect of foods like meat and cereal grains (that create “acidic residues” in the body – promoting muscle waste. So, eat those bananas, dried apricots, cantaloupe, potatoes (sweet or white), winter squash, legumes, and avocado and drink that o.j.! (Source: EatSmart by Jean Carper)

Researchers from Purdue University found that consuming 300 calories (about 4 ounces) a day of nuts can be done without gaining weight – probably because the nuts help you feel full and less hungry for other foods. And, monounsaturated nuts help lower bad cholesterol, raising the good kind – plus the omega-3’s in walnuts also offer an anti-clotting feature, helping reduce the risk of stroke). Those eating nuts several times a week lower their chance of a heart attack by 30-50%…. and some, like almonds, are great sources of fiber too. Consider them the best over-40 snack…. (Source: More.com magazine)

Oh, and you’ll remember how I told you we had two clients “representing” SuperSlow in a charitable golf event early October? Well, I can’t brag that they WON the tourney, but I am proud they showed their SuperSlow colors (blue, of course) while playing in that event. Thanks to Brandon and Jason for “representing”!

I’d like to speak about every single client, because they are all special, but that might take a little bit too long! It should be very clear how I feel about my clients and I think I’m learning how they feel about SuperSlow®. The nicest example of how I feel is that I now have three clients who are interested in becoming instructors – even if only part time because they have other careers. That’s very cool – because that’s how much they love the product!

After spending so many years disgruntled with Corporate America, I thought that I would really like to change the course of my life to be able to help people be healthy and fit.

Having struggled personally with different types of exercise, I had tried everything – getting injured in the process – then had to start all over again. I thought that if I am having those issues, I figured others would be also. So I started researching information on different types of exercise programs that were available on the internet and came across SuperSlow® and started reading about it and having phone interviews. The next step was to go to Florida to meet all of the folks involved with SuperSlow Zone to see if it would be something I was interested in.

I was surprised at the intensity of the workout and certainly how little time was required for each workout – which is very short compared with what other people do. The safe and brief workouts seemed like something that could be done by other busy people like me. With that in mind, I decided to open a SuperSlow Zone.

At first, there were challenges for opening. It was the dead of winter and in the middle of flu season and it was a little bit frustrating, because when you believe in something yourself and you are trying to find a way to convince somebody, you can’t always do it just by talking to them. You have to get them in the door – that was the hard part – I had to give them a present for Christmas. It was a gift certificate to come in and work out at SuperSlow! It was a bribe! I don’t know that they were that happy to get that for Christmas, but they came in and have worked out twice a week all the way through now, except for one week. They have been very diligent and happy with their results. They keep coming back for more.

Rewards were evident from the beginning, starting out meeting all different types of people and hearing their stories – it was more than I ever anticipated as a fulfilling thing to do with my life. It has been really great helping people. However, you have to understand how dismal it is here, because of the auto industry. It may have been a much easier startup 10 years ago, but there are still people who are willing to spend what money they have on taking care of themselves. If it’s important to them, then they figure out how to do it.

Client appreciation of me was something new to become accustomed to, because I don’t have any of those memories from my corporate life. Here are some examples of what I’m talking about:
•	I have clients that I train during meal times where I might not get a chance to eat and they bring me some food or some fruit.
•	Another client got me a gift certificate to get my hair done. It’s very nice to be appreciated.

Again, as we continue to circle back to the beginning, it is just a great feeling – even better than I anticipated. I have no problem waking up in the morning and getting in there early and staying in there till 8:30 at night, if that’s the only time somebody can get in, or if it’s the only time I have available. It just feels good to be there for them, helping them reach their goals every time I see them, hearing every little thing they may have to tell me that is different and better about their lives.

Success Stories from SuperSlow Zone in Northville, Michigan:

One client came to me with very little strength after having several operations and spending most of her time in bed for the better part of a year.

When she started she wasn’t able to lift her arms up to wash her hair. The joke between us was that I was going to have to go to her house in the morning and help her get ready!

Her goal was to be able to ride her bike again this spring. She has come along way after just being with me since February 2006 (four months). Not only she can ride her bike, but now her strength is much better than it was and she can do all types of things that she couldn’t do before:

1.	She can walk at a good clip for 40 minutes in the park.
2.	She can walk up the stairs with one foot in front of the other, instead of stopping at each step.

She has been doing the walk and bike riding for more than a month now. That is a great, great thing for her and the quality of her life is even better than she thought it might be.

I have others that have some challenges too – some have been with me for awhile and others that have just started.

Another client with several challenges has been with me since the beginning of January. He is an overweight, former athlete in his early 40’s facing knee replacement surgery.

In the beginning I really had to do some convincing, because he had trouble believing that he didn’t have to workout for three hours in a gym a day. However, once he made the commitment to try it, it didn’t take that long – maybe three weeks for him to really believe in the workout. It never got easier, which is the whole idea that was very surprising to him. His workout was always a challenge and he was always pushing.

Now, he is a believer because of his successes:
1.	He has not needed injections in his knee since starting SuperSlow.
2.	He has lost 22 pounds since he starting in January – he is looking to lose more.
3.	He has reduced the amount of pain medication.

He played all kinds of sports, but Hockey was the main sport that he played from youth, through college and into his adult life, until he had to stop playing hockey about a year ago. Now he is hoping that he will be able to play again.

I have a young man that suffered a stroke in his mid-30s, about 7 years ago. He was in a coma for a period of time and lost a lot of muscle and has continuous pain in the back of his legs to the point where he would just fall to the floor in pain and roll around.

His mother saw the article in Vogue and called. They had tried a lot of different doctors and physical therapy and nothing seemed to make any difference, so after reading the article they thought that they would give it a try.

Now 41, his mother and dad drive quite a long distance to bring him in twice a week to exercise. He has not been coming long, but he is already starting to have fewer episodes of pain, and it also gives him something to look forward to.

An athlete before his stroke, he would really like to be able to run again, play golf and things like that. I am working with him and I hope that he can become pain free at some point, or at least have less pain and get stronger so he can walk and run.

Although he hasn’t been with me long enough to have the head-turning success story, he has improved enough to inspire both his mother and his sister to do SuperSlow. So all three of them will be piling into a car and coming together twice a week, and I will with work all three of them. There has been a shared change in their lives that bring them all together at the SuperSlow Zone!

A lovely young mother of two in her early 30s who has never exercised in her life began working out. Her husband is a former pro football player for the Detroit Lions. He is very much into working out and has a gym in his basement, but he couldn’t get her to go down the stairs to use his equipment. So he talked her into coming to see me; she did and now very much enjoys the results. The idea when she came was that they were going on this big vacation – the first time away from their two children – a cruise. She wanted to look the best she could for this cruise, so I was part of their cruise package.

After she had been coming in for a little while, her husband came in because he wanted to meet the woman that finally got his wife to exercise! He has been a big supporter, encouraging her to come in. They just came back from their cruise and she told me that he was so happy with the way she looked that he encouraged her to keep coming in.

What was really nice was that her mother looked at the pictures from her cruise and said, “Oh, you look like you did when you were back in college – you need to keep going there!” That was nice!

She did something that was just so cute when she came in to sign up for another package. Even though I can’t keep it, I thought that was so sweet that she wrote out a separate check, as a tip, and then in the “for” she put “for our friendship.” I should frame it or make a nice copy of it and frame it and give it back to her! I just thought it was very touching to feel that way. She said I was worth every penny and that she appreciated me.

This kind of expression let’s me know how much SuperSlow is helping improve her health, and she is getting back what she wants – which is to look and feel better after having children. When she presented her check, she was choosing beyond the cruise to continue to make SuperSlow Zone part of her life.

I shared that great story with the mother of the young man who suffered the stroke mentioned earlier. After he worked out, I worked with her and then I told her the story. She called me at 7:30 the next morning and she said that her daughter was the mother of two babies and that she wanted her to come in because that story inspired her. She wanted her daughter to have the happy experience that my other client did – getting back into shape after her children.

Another fun group to work with is business executives who are just looking to put SuperSlow exercise into their lives because they are so busy. One busy executive that I have been working with since March 2006 lives in a neighboring town. We fit into his schedule, because all he has to do is take off his shirt, his tie, and his shoes. He works out in his slacks, socks and undershirt.

He was featured in the Detroit news article and now almost everybody at his office has jumped on the bandwagon. Now all men working out from his office are competing with him for the best body, I think!

I have another woman that enjoys coming in dressed in challenging things to work out in – like a dress! And thinks it’s so cool just because she can! She goes to an early morning net-working meeting and then she will come into my place at 9:00 am in her dress, take off her high-heels and works out in her pantyhose and her dress – just because she can!

She has always hated going to a gym, and SuperSlow Zone is such an anti-gym feeling. She enjoys the idea that it is not a gym – no one is there looking at her. She feels much more comfortable.

A new client started a few weeks ago – a woman in her early 60s with osteoporosis who had suffered several broken bones.

She is just starting, so she is beginning to build up a little bit of strength. It is an interesting experience with her, because I walk her in and out to her car for safety.

It has been a very interesting and positive experience having her as a client because:
1.	She has never done any exercise in her life.
2.	She is very excited about coming.
3.	She enjoys the results enough to keep coming twice a week.
4.	She recently attended a dinner to benefit a Detroit-area hospital, sitting at a table with doctors gave out a pile of my business cards and told them what I was doing.
5.	She has also spoken to her physical therapist who is excited about meeting and working with me.

She is due to get a DEXA scan, which we will use as a baseline. We will be able to compare it against subsequent follow-up measurements.

Another client had some weight issues and was simply too tired to walk up the stairs more than once or twice a day. As a matter of fact, because it was way too tiring, it was pretty much her goal for the day to never have to do that.

Now that she’s stronger, it’s not a problem for her to go up and down the stairs several times a day, take the garbage out – just the little things in life are easier for her now. It sounds like “little things” but when you add them up her whole quality of life is better!

The SuperSlow Zone Community – A Spirit of Support

I would like to say something about the spirit of support in the SuperSlow Zone community around the country, and more specifically what it has meant to my location here in Northville. A visitor from SuperSlow Zone in Washington, D.C. came to town and not only did they visit, they actually brought in a client to me locally!

A second experience was someone from Texas in town on vacation visiting family who live here. He came in and brought his sister and her baby who had just been born by C-Section two weeks prior, so it wasn’t like she was ready to jump on the machine, but he wanted her to come in while he was there.

We both talked with her about the benefits of SuperSlow and she said she had been either pregnant or nursing for the last five years and that she was done. As soon as she is feeling up to par, she is actually going to come in to work out with us.

It’s nice that there is support around the country from those who believe in SuperSlow and think about referring others regardless where they live. It jump-starts connectivity so that all the information seeds planted start to come in full bloom. The really important thing here is that clients are so happy that they begin to talk about it at every event they go to – at work or at dinner or at a tea party – they talk about it at tea parties! Who would have thought about that?

Their conversation about SuperSlow with others causes people to be curious enough to want to come in and try it. Once they try it, if they want to make a change in their life and enjoy a challenge, then they are in. Of course, the people they are referring have to make their own decision, but you can see that your clients have developed a deep sense of commitment and care about SuperSlow.

They think: I’m spending money on this so maybe I should park further away and walk a little bit more, and maybe I should eat a little bit better and maybe I should do this …maybe I should do that. It just kind of makes all of those things happen in their life that weren’t happening before when they were just sitting on the couch waiting for something to happen.

When you meet these people, you don’t say, “I’m going to overhaul your life.” All you have to say is, “Okay, well come in and try SuperSlow, it takes about 20 minutes.” But there was no pressure to feel like they had to get in there and redo themselves. Of course, together we set goals and we monitor them, but just by staying purposeful these new influences have positive results as consequences. The results are sustainable over time, because their personal program is designed around the way they live.

Ah, the busy days of autumn. As we ease out of the warmth of summer to the cooling of fall, we either find ourselves with LOTS of time now that school’s open….or find our schedules getting even busier (and t he traffic, worse!). Well, I know that applies to me – did I tell you that two of my three boys are prepping for rugby season via SuperSlow WHILE they carry their overly-heavy share of AP and honors courses??? And while I sooo look forward to watching in angst their games (having experienced one concussion last year was not enough, I guess…), it’s that much more to fit into the schedule.

Needless to say, that’s where exercise can often fall to the wayside – it’s like we go into hibernation mode, packing on those extra calories or avoiding putting exercise high on our priority list now that we’re showing so much less skin – what you don’t see won’t hurt you…??? Now, don’t YOU be guilty of doing that!

Besides the need to actively work on creating muscle for the value of that muscle to your lifestyle, strength training enough to add just three pounds of muscle to your body helps you burn about 100 extra calories today. That fact is reinforced constantly in many periodicals – look at the October 2008 Prevention magazine for that statistic. In addition, the article points out “you want to focus on exercises that recruit the largest muscles …because they will help you build more lean mass.” Remember what we told you about the work you do on that leg press? Plus prevention also reinforces what we’ve been telling you – that people who exercise at very high intensities experience a post-exercise boost in their metabolic rate that is not only larger, but also LASTS LONGER.

Exercise can’t, of course, do it all. Managing your intake contributes significantly, as you work to more efficiently burn calories. Some interesting factoids from Prevention are also that:

    * Your body actually does burn a little more when digesting ice-cold beverages – but don’t expect too much! We’re talking five-six glasses of ice water helping you burn 10 extra calories a day (but to put that into perspective, that’s 1 pound of nearly effortless weight loss per year!). In addition, those who drink more water tend to have higher metabolic rates.
* While dieting can actually lower your resting metabolic rate, you can prevent that rate from slipping by maintaining muscle (strength training).
* Did you know hot, spicy foods also cause a temporary increase in your metabolic rate? So go crazy (if you can stomach it!) on those jalapeños…. Oh, and that wonderful green tea? It also boosts your fat-burning fire…just even one large cup a day can raise your metabolism by 4% over 1-1/2 hours.
* Eating more protein has an advantage over fats or carbs by increasing your metabolic rate because your body uses more energy to process it. Strive for between 10-20 grams of protein at each of your meals. But don’t go carb-less: it has an important role to play in the efficiency of your muscle build.

So, eat smarter, exercise smarter, and leverage the fact that it only takes twenty minutes, twice a week to free you up for all your OTHER activities! Remember, looking great in those skinny jeans or prepping to look oh-so-fine in your winter attire is a great goal too.

And before I forget, kudos to now both Pat M. & Kim L. for successful “referrals” that gained each of them “Zone Bucks” toward their workouts! And, have you seen how svelte Kim is looking these days? Oh, and you’ll soon hear the results from a couple of our clients “representing” as they hit the golf course over at Silver Creek in a charitable event this month, along with a couple of “scholarship” programs we’ll tell you more about soon…

Welcome to the SuperSlow® Zone at Silver Creek!

Ah, August. The dog days of summer. Supposedly. Doesn’t seem so bad here in San Jose, where we cross our fingers against those triple-digit temperatures. Makes the summer much more bearable, doesn’t it?

As we ease into the new school season (don’t panic, parents…), we get back into the craziness of battling extra traffic on the road, and further-burdened schedules. While the kids may be out of Mom’s hair, life doesn’t slow down. Thank goodness there’s a way to fit exercise into those schedules with SuperSlow®. Now if you’re like me, you may already be thinking about the year-end holidays, and all that entails – sometimes including dressing to the n’s for holiday events. But looking good isn’t a seasonal thing, it’s a yearlong thing – which is why it’s nice to have SuperSlow® here to help you out.

As much as I understand the vanity component, I get increasingly concerned over the “shortcuts” offered to trim body fat – be it supplements, body wraps, surgery, etc. I know even doctors will highlight a tummy tuck or liposuction for those whose weight loss exceeds their elasticity as a way to eliminate the extra “skin” you can’t seem to get rid of – diet OR exercise can only do so much as we age, and it’s even more challenging for those who go through dramatic weight loss to have their muscle build keep pace with the fat loss.

But all those quick fixes (and sometimes, dangerous ones) do not address the physiological benefits of integrating exercise into your lifestyle. Bones needs muscle build. Your heart needs muscular support. Stressing your heart and vascular system with pills to improve your metabolic rate can be dangerous, let alone short-lived (and often stem from drugs that can prove addictive). Cognitive abilities benefit from muscle build. And so on. Taking the time to build the internal infrastructure you need is something YOU deserve for yourselves – so, even if it’s just the twenty minutes, twice a week, take it. And feel good about the long-term benefits you are building for yourselves, and your families.

The best part is, even if you’re new to this whole fitness thing, you’ll be looking AND feeling good sooner than you can imagine. The reason is simple: SuperSlow® works super fast. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve been working out steadily or panic at the mere sight of a gym. Regardless of where you are now or what you hope to achieve, the SuperSlow® workout always takes only 20 minutes, once or twice a week. You probably spend more time worrying about exercise than the entire SuperSlow® program will take each week! But instead of winding up with nothing but 20 or 40- minutes of wasted time to show for it, you’ll be putting that fraction of an hour to amazing use. Because the SuperSlow® system takes all the muscle-building power of a traditional workout and synthesizes it into a few very simple, very effective moves. Moves that give your body exactly what it needs to get in the best shape of your life – and maintain that shape as long as you stay in the SuperSlow Zone®. So what are you waiting for? There’s no time like now to start creating the body of your dreams.

Hello, and welcome to the SuperSlow Zone®, Silver Creek! As an update from our last eZine, in June we able to share the news of SuperSlow at the MamaFest, an event focused on busy mothers in Silicon Valley. Our raffle rewarded one lucky winner with a month’s free workouts, and we’ll look forward to working toward her goals with her. Oh, and special acknowledgment to those who were able to share our ribbon-cutting with the San Jose Chamber of Commerce late June – it was great to have you here, and we hope to share pictures soon! This month, we also want to say a special “thank you” to those women clients who willingly offered their time in the creation of a CD with our headquarters, focused on the topic of “Strength in Women” – your feedback and insights are wonderful!

Meanwhile, summer is now in full swing, and no doubt you’re seeing people showing off their bodies in the most minimal outfits…even if you might think they shouldn’t! If you’re one of those people, or if you’re hiding your body under layers of clothing more suited to the dead of winter, summer might not be your favorite time of year.

If you’re one of those people, we’re happy to tell you it’s not too late to change summer into a happier, more comfortable, more rewarding season. Entering the SuperSlow Zone® is going to help you transform this summer – and all the summers to come. You’ll be seeing the change in your body long before there’s a change in the weather – and as long as you stick with the SuperSlow® program, those changes will stick with you. Of course, there are also those of you who aren’t looking for anything to change, because you’ve taken care of your bodies all year long. For you, summer is the time to celebrate all that hard work, all those skipped desserts and extra slices of pizza left in the box, by baring that fabulous bod for all to see! We see a lot of people like you at SuperSlow Zone® — people who are always on the hunt for what’s new and hot in fitness, what’s on the cutting edge, what will work the best to help keep them in the best shape of their lives.

Whether you’re a fitness veteran or a newbie, SuperSlow® is definitely on that cutting edge – because, as we always say, it works super fast. Whatever your fitness level, whatever shape your body is in right now, all it takes is a 20 minute workout, only once or twice a week, to give you amazing, fast, real results. And no, all that sun hasn’t gone to our heads – 20 minutes is the ACTUAL WORKOUT TIME. That’s because SuperSlow® is based on a unique system that packs all the power of a traditional workout into a few simple – but powerful – moves. Powerful enough to give you the results you want and the body you’ve dreamed of regardless of your level of fitness, because the SuperSlow® process works with your body to give you exactly what you need to get and stay in shape. Even if you hate to work out, in just 20 minutes the whole thing will be over and you’ll be well on your way to a better body. And if you love to exercise, those quick sessions give you more time to spend on the beach or in the park, flaunting the results of that healthy lifestyle. Either way, summer’s in full swing – and you should be too. So let’s get to work!

Welcome to the Superslow Zone® at Silver Creek. Believe it or not, summer is here. And if you’re like a lot of people, it may have caught you by surprise. One minute you’re bundling up in your winter clothes and wondering when our rain might end, firing up the fireplace and maybe even dining on comfort food… and next thing you know it’s time to get outside or perhaps hit the beach with your family and friends. And maybe… your desire for a strong, fit body taps you on the shoulder telling you to “feel good in your active summer body.”

Of course, for every comfort-food junkie, there are no doubt some of you who make fitness a priority all year long. You know, the one who cuts back on desserts or skips the French fries the moment their favorite jeans start to feel a little snug. Or who make sure they get some form of recreation no matter what the weather’s like outside. Or maybe who have made a serious commitment to keeping their bodies strong and healthy. If you’re one of those people, you’ve probably come to SuperSlow Zone® to continue your commitment to fitness, and maintain feeling strong and great. But even if fitness is a fairly new idea to you, or something you’ve let slip over the past few months, you’ve taken a great first step just by reading this and realizing you need to get in to a SuperSlow Zone for 20 minutes, twice a week so we can get you back to where you need to be!

As we like to say, SuperSlow® works super fast – and that’s true regardless of your fitness level. Whatever kind of shape you’re in right now, a workout of just 20 minutes, only once or twice a week with a supportive Certified SuperSlow® Instructor will help you get the results you want and the body you’ve dreamed of – because the workouts are tailored to your individual level of fitness. If you’re a gym rat who is used to spending hours on your body every week, this might sound a little insane. If you’re like me and would rather have a root canal than work out, this might sound like one of those diets that promises to help you shed pounds while eating all the chocolate you want. We’re happy to tell you SuperSlow® is neither insane nor an impossible dream – it’s just smart… and it’s been proven for more than 26 years! Our unique system lets you pack all the power of hours of workout time into two quick, 20 minute sessions per week – meaning you can get your work out done and actually get on with your life. And for those who hate working out, the whole thing will be over almost before you’ve begun. So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to get started. Call us today to schedule an appointment!
