SUPERSTAR Rajini releases ‘Goa’ music

At a time when everyone was expecting a grand audio launch function of ‘Goa’, since it is the maiden production venture of Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Ocher Studios, the film had its music launch in a simple way on Monday.

The music album of the movie was released by Superstar Rajinikanth at his residence in Chennai. The simple function was attended by the cast and crew of the film directed by Venkat Prabhu, besides officials from Sony Music.

Says Venkat Prabhu, “I feel proud that Goa’s audio was released by the Superstar. He is always there to encourage us right from the days of ‘Chennai 6000028’. He is hopeful that ‘Goa’ would become a super hit.”

On the film’s music, he says, “Yuvan always comes up with special tunes for my films. He has repeated the magic in ‘Goa’ too. All the songs have come out well. They would rock audio charts soon.”

In a release issued recently, the superstar, while wishing his fans, mediapersons and the people of the state a happy new year, said, “I wish to thank my fans, who performed several good deeds on the occasion of my 60th birthday. I also wish to thank the people of the state, friends from the film industry, politicians and mediapersons, who wished me on the occasion. I pray to the Almighty that this sweet new year provides everyone with all those good things that one can hope to possess.”

Kamal Haasan's films not to be part of IFFI

Kamal Haasan was honoured with yet another award, this time for his Lifetime's Achievements in cinema. But the actor and filmmaker feels that the southern film industry lacks the initiative when it comes to participating in national film events.

Haasan recently completed 50 years of being in cinema, yet he will get no recognition at one of the biggest film festivals in the country - the International Film Festival of India.

The festival's retrospective will be featuring films of actors Asha Parekh, Sharmila Tagore and Soumitro Chatterjee - who also complete 50 years in cinema. But Kamal Hassan's works will not be a part of it, allegedly because the actor wanted seven of his films to be screened instead of just the proposed three.

However Haasan refutes this claim, "Some of my friends advised that. Somebody asked the question whether I insisted on seven. It's my friends and well-wishers in Delhi, to name Karthikeyan, he said three won't do, it has to be seven, we will do it in Delhi and that is how it became."

When asked if Bollywood was being given preference over the Southern film industry? Haasan answered, "No it usually happens. The fault is also ours, we don't represent ourselves well. We don't go to meetings, we don't participate. They make do with whoever is participating. It's a diverse culture, there should be unity in diversity."

But awards and accolades continue to pour in for Haasan. On Tuesday, Haasan was honoured for his Lifetime's Achievements in films by the Rotary Club of Madras. And the actor is also expected to Chair the FICCI media and entertainment enclave to be held on Thursday and Friday in Chennai. Not only that, a retrospective of his films is also in the offing.

'Yanthram' has been making headlines ever since the shooting commenced. Some of the big names of Indian cinema industry are coming together for this flick. Recently the shooting was taking place in Chennai. The scene being shot was said to be a fight scene.

According to sources, the fight scene is between superstar Rajinikanth and 100 other robots that look like him. The set has been erected by India’s one of the popular art directors Sabu Cyril and fights are being composed by Peter Heinz along with few foreign fight masters.

This flick is being directed by the showman of the south Shankar and also stars the beautiful and gorgeous Aishwarya Rai as the leading lady

The Sirucheri SIPCOT industrial estate is the area in which our robot Rajini is right now! The team of Shankar’s ‘Endhiran’ is working busily in the location to complete an important scene of the film out there.

We hear that Shankar has brought in an extremely strange Volvo bus in to the sets. Birdies say that the director has transformed a normal Volvo bus into a satellite remote sensing lab. This makeover process of the bus has cost a whooping 50 lakhs!

A scene in which a morph gang attacks the robot Rajini, who is inside this satellite remote sensing lab, is being filmed. The blow of the news is that our superstar is not in the shooting spot at all. It’s a stunt artist who is masked as the robot Rajini.

Using a dupe is not a big deal as our Superstar is a real-time hero. What say people?

Rajini talks about companionship

Director-actor Manivannan’s daughter’s wedding took place in Chennai on September 7th amidst film personalities. Notable among them were Rajinikanth, his wife Latha Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Cheran, Sundar C, Sathyaraj, Sibiraj, Kushboo and others.

Speaking at the wedding ceremony, which was in accordance with the Suyamariyadhai Marriage followed by the Dravidar Kazhagam followers and atheists, Rajini blessed the couple for a long and happy married life. He said only a wife would follow a husband through the bad times and there relationship should be more of companionship.

The Superstar said that not many know that Manivannan is an ardent follower of Periyar ideals and he was amazed with his knowledge about Periyar during the Padayappa shooting. Earlier, Sathyaraj handed over the mangalasutra to Rajini who gave it to the bridegroom. Cheran welcomed the guests and director Seeman thanked one and all for gracing the occasion.

Rajinikanth’s elder brother Sathyanarayana Rao on Sunday said that the Superstar would make an announcement on his political plans after the release of his forthcoming film ‘Endhiran’.

Speaking to reporters in Tiruchy, where he attended a function organised by Rajini fan clubs, Sathyanarayana said, “Rajini’s full concentration is now on ‘Endhiran’. He has been working hard for the movie. He would make a decision on his political entry after the completion of the film.”

Stating that he was not in Tiruchy to hold any consultation but to attend a function organised by fan clubs, the Superstar’s elder brother said the matinee idol would make a right decision (on political entry) and announce it at a right time.

At the function, a CD titled ‘Makkal Manam Kavarndha Mannan’ on Rajinikanth was released. Karnataka State Rajini fans club president Chandrakanth and a large number of fans from Trichy and Chidambaram attended the function.

Rajinikanth praises Arun Vijay

Arun Vijay is on cloud nine. His mass masala entertainer Malai Malai is doing good business throughout Tamil Nadu, especially in B & C stations.

The film directed by A.Venkatesh worked with the masses as the mass elements like action, sentiments and comedy was well mixed.

The film was also made on a big budget for an Arun Vijay film and had stars like Prabhu and Prakash Raj which gave it a reach in B & C.

Arun Vijay’s dad veteran character artist Vijayakumar and his father-in-law Dr. Mohan who funded the project and produced it under his Feather Touch Entertainments banner marketed it well.

A few days back they held a show for superstar Rajinikanth, who is a close buddy of Vijayakumar. After seeing the show Rajini was all praise for Arun and said that he has reinvented himself successfully as an action hero, and it should be a stepping stone to further success in his career.

The team of ‘Malai Malai’ can go for a toast now. Their movie has been doing well across Tamil Nadu. Running successful in its 4th week, ‘Malai Malai’ has been well-received by the audience.

The hero of the movie, Arun Vijay, is very pleased about the positive response. It seems he has been personally visiting several theatres in the State. It proved to be a great experience for the actor in receiving the feedback directly. He says that the trip gave him great confidence and also idea as how to do his next film.

Arun Vijay revealed that he will be back with another project with the same team. “It’s again our banner Feather Touch Entertainments and the film is titled ‘Maanja Velu’, set to release in January,” he added. The actor is on cloud nine, for Superstar Rajinikanth saw the movie and appreciated his work and the film.

Superstar Rajinikanth watched an exclusive show of Kandhasamy at Devi Sridevi preview theater on Saturday. The actor known for his noble heart has appreciated Kalaipuli Thanu, producer of Kandhasamy, and crew members for their good effort.

Says Thanu, "Rajini praised the film and gave a video interview also. We are planning to use his good word for the film's publicity.."

Kandhasamy has been released in 20 plus screens in the City and 900 plus screens all over the world. Also Thanu has released the Tamil version of the film in Kerala also. The Telugu version Mallanna was also released in Andhra in big way.

48 cameras capture SUPERSTAR Rajinikanth

Superstar Rajinikanth is one of the most popular stars in India. He has a huge fan following not only in India but also internationally. He is all set to appear again in the silver screen by the end of this year.

It is known news that he will be seen in an animated version “Sultan The Warrior” which is being made by none other than his daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth.

According to sources, about 48 cameras have been used in this movie to capture each and every moment of Rajini’s facial expressions. These captured expressions will be brought in the animated format.

The movie which is expected to have even the real Rajini playing a cameo is expected to be released by Christmas.

Tamil film industry rubbishes Lankan claim

The Tamil film industry has sharply criticised Sri Lankan Minister for Resettlement and Disaster Relief Services Abdul Rishad Bathiudeen’s statement claiming Rajinikanth’s movies received funding indirectly from the LTTE.

Rishad had mentioned, in an interview to Asian Tribune, that a lot of money of the LTTE had benefited Rajinikanth, PMK leader Vaiko and S Ramadoss. He claimed that money from the LTTE was being diverted to a London-based Tamilian to make films with the superstar.

Condemning the remark, Rama Narayanan, president, Tamil Nadu Producers’ Council, said: “There’s no need for LTTE to fund a Rajinikanth film indirectly through anyone. And Rajinikanth is in no necessity to take up a project financed this way. There are a lot of producers here waiting to do a film with him and he will not resort to a project like this. Whoever has claimed it should have done so for cheap publicity, because they know anything about Rajinikanth makes it to the headlines,” he says.

Another producer, on conditions of anonymity, said there was no basis to the claims made, calling them “random, uncalled for” remarks.

Director-producer Ameer, known as a sympathiser of the Eelam Tigers, said these remarks were made only to defame the LTTE, which the people empathised with. “His statement has come without proof. It is only a political statement made with the intention of portraying the Tigers in bad light. This is akin to Harshad Mehta who once infamously said he had bribed former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao for financial favours. By stating this, they have tried to divert our attention,” said the director.

Actor Rajinikanth, who has not worked for a film produced by a London producer so far, chose not to respond to the statement. The actor is currently in Chennai shooting for his flick, Endhiran. His public relations officer said the actor, who was informed of this, did not wish to make any comment.

The closest the superstar came to working with a Sri Lankan producer was for his current film. Endhiran was originally supposed to be produced by Ayngaran International, owned by a Sri Lankan Tamil from London, C Karunamurthy. A leading film distribution network, apart from being a high-budget production house, Ayngaran, however, later backed out of the project. Ayngaran had earlier widely distributed Rajini’s previous blockbuster Sivaji The Boss, in the international market, apart from holding the international rights to his earlier films Chandramukhi and Padayappa.

It is the season of remakes and after Superstar Rajinikanth's Mappillai, it is his Johny that is to be remade by Selva. Mahendran's Johny starring Rajinikanth and Sridevi with music by Ilayaraja is still a classic. Selva, the remake specialist now presently working on Naan Avan Illai 2 shall start the next project with Jeevan playing Rajini's role.

The lead actress is not yet decided and they are trying to rope in one of the popular actresses instead of a new face. Mayilsamy plays Surili Rajan's part. The other cast and crew is yet to get finalized.

Superstar Rajinikanth is busy with the shooting of mega budget “Enthiram”. He is also featuring in “Sultan – the warrior” which is an animated movie. Now the buzz in Kollywood is that Murugadoss is planning to cast Rajinikanth in his movie.

According to sources, Murugadoss has prepared a script especially for Rajini and even the superstar is impressed with it. Currently Murugadoss is busy with his Bollywood venture with Shah Rukh Khan. This is his second Hindi venture after the highly successful “Ghajini”.

If all goes well then it will definitely be a great movie for Rajni fans.

Kamal Haasan completes Half-century in Film IndustryCome August 15, ‘Ulaganayagan’ would complete his 50 jubilant years in the film industry.

The great actor on August 12, 1959 appeared first in front of the camera as a child artist in AVM’s Kalathur Kannamma.

Kalathur Kannamma was the debut film of Kamal Haasan as a child artist. The film was directed by Bhim Singh in which Gemini Ganesan and Savitri played lead roles. At that time, Kamal Haasan was just five years old, and he won the best child actor National Award for his performance in the film.

Kamal Hassan is the only actor in the country who achieved milestones for himself, and he has acted in all the four South Indian Languages and even in Hindi and some Bengali movies.

Recently, Kamal Haasan had conducted a seminar along with IIT-Madras on ‘International Workshop and Seminar on Screenwriting’ to stress the importance of screenplay in cinema.

On this, an elated Haasan said, “I am happy with the fact that people have been kind to me, including my teachers, my technicians and even my critics. I consider myself as being fortunate, lucky not having some nasty accident.”

The actor has much hopes from his upcoming film ‘Unnaipol Oruvan’ in Tamil and Eenadu in Telugu.

The story of the film is based on the Bollywood movie ‘A Wednesday’.

The corporate website of Four Frames company has been launched by superstar Rajinikanth on Monday evening. The function was held at FourFrames preview Theater, Nungambakkam.

The event got major attention due to the presence of Rajinikanth. After reaching the stage Rajnikanth launched the new corporate website www.fourframes.co.in at 6.55 PM.

The website demonstration was given by Dharmendran, Business Head, Zeallabs Software Solutions, Chennai. He told that the launched site comprises of various information about Four Frames Entertainments, namely Preview Theatre, Dubbing, DTS Mixing, Dolby Mixing, Editing, Camera and Lights.

FourFrames Pictures, a newly started film production have already done two projects namely Poi Solla Porom and Kanchivaram. Film Industry groups can easily access this website and get information about all post production solutions.

Rajini and Shankar watch Magadheera

South Indian cinema’s biggest box-office hit of 2009 Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Teja’s big budget extravaganza Magadheera in Telugu is creating waves.

The film has broken all records in Telugu film industry by collecting a mind-boggling Rs 22 Crores in its first week, a fete which has not been achieved by any other Telugu hero including his dad, the megastar!

On Sunday (Aug 9) Chiranjeevi arranged a special show of Magadheera for Superstar Rajinikanth at Chennai’s Four Frames preview theatre. Next day ace director Shankar saw a special screening of the film at AVM preview theatre. After the show Rajinikanth called up Ram Charan Teja and congratulated him on his terrific performance in the film.

The film directed by the mass masala specialist SS Rajamouli is based on reincarnation and revenge theme and has Ram Charan Teja and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead along with Srihari and Sunil with outstanding music by Keeravani.

The highlight of the film is its music, action, graphics, screen presence of Ram Charan Teja and the total packaging of the film by Rajamouli.
