Sometimes the best buys are made with pre-owned products.

This is particularly true in the case of sports cars.
Many people would like to have a sports car mainly for
the performance but some may want to simply experience
the sheer enjoyment that only a sport’s cars can give.
Buying a brand new sports car may be too much expense
for many people, that’s why a pre-owned or second
hand sports car should be considered.

Here is some good advice in the purchasing of pre-owned
sports cars.

Set expectations

Many people go out to buy a used sports car with
a brand new car in mind. Buying pre-owned sports cars
is about getting the best value for your money.
Knowing your needs and preferences is also a must in
buying pre-owned sports cars.

Set a budget

Buying a sports car, even used ones can be
expensive Researching through Internet browsing
or buying “buy and sell” car magazines can give a
buyer a general feeling about the current prices of
different sports car models.

Examine carefully

A buyer must be careful in inspecting the pre-owned
car and take his time doing so. There are four
essential elements of the car that should be
thoroughly inspected: the interior, the body,
the engine, and the papers. A well-maintained
sports car is worth buying.

Open the hood and examine the car’s engine.
Many people may not know too much about car
electronics but inspection will give a buyer
a general feel of how the car has been maintained
by the previous owner.

Check the inside of the tailpipe. If it is greasy,
that means that there is a problem with the engine
compression.

Check for scratches or dents on the cars body. Of course,
do not forget to check the car’s title, etc. Missing
papers will cost the buyer additional money or
prevent the purchase.

Test Drive

Before a purchase, the buyer should take the car for a
test drive. This is a “must” for all cars, not only
for pre-owned ones. An assessment of the over-all
handling and performance of the car should be made
during the test drive.

Buying a pre-owned maybe the best choice in purchasing
a sports car, especially when one is faced by budget
constraints. Pre-owned sports cars have the potential
to give the same excitement and fun that brand new ones
can give. Choose and buy wisely and have fun
while doing so.

      Electric cars…

Electric cars…

have existed ever since people started to look for a new kind of power source to power their cars. This was decades ago and the idea of electric cars weren’t really that popular as it is very costly to produce and the power to weight ratio wasn’t that good as the battery technology back then was very crude.

Charging the batteries…

in the past also took a long time. Because of these disadvantages, electric cars back then weren’t really popular and the idea was scrapped. However, thanks to modern technology and the ever growing concern for the environment, more and more people are now considering buying electric cars. In fact, electric cars today are now being produced for the average consumer. This basically means that there is a bright future for electric cars. In fact, more and more people today are now driving electric cars. With the looming global financial crisis, you too would want to save as much money as you can. Although the cost of fuel lowered, it’s only a matter of time when the fuel supplies or reserves will eventually go down and that the price for fuel will go up again. Electric cars provide a lot of advantages for the consumer.

For starters…

electric cars are relatively easy to maintain. Because of the fact that there are only few moving parts in the motor of the electric car, it will eventually mean that there are fewer parts to break. Also, oil changes are a thing of the past with electric cars. The government is also concerned about the gasoline prices and the increasing dependency of people on oil products. Because the supply for oil will not last, the federal government is encouraging people to buy electric or hybrid cars. They encourage people by giving buyers and users of electric cars tax incentives.

So, aside from saving money…

on gasoline, you will also save money on taxes. Another incentive that the government offers electric car users is parking and HOV lanes. Some cities in the US already granted electric car users exemption from the carpool requirements, which restricts the HOV lanes. Some cities offer free parking by meters in pay lots.

By using electric cars…

the country will also lower the need for foreign oil. This means that the government will no longer have to rely purely on oil to keep the economy going. Electric cars run purely on electricity. What this basically means is that it will not burn any fuel which causes air pollution. This means that by using electric cars, you will be contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment no matter how insignificant it may seem. Just imagine that all the residents in an entire city using electric cars. Smog will be reduced and the city will definitely have cleaner and a lot more refreshing air to breathe.

Electric cars are also a lot safer…

Keep in mind that it will run purely on electricity. With no gasoline in the car, there will be no fuel to start fires, which can cause death to the passengers. As you can see, the future of transportation is really happening right now. If you want to save money and at the same time contribute to the environment, you should start considering buying electric cars.

Given money to spend and

Given money to spend and a world of options when selecting a car, every car enthusiast goes for one option—getting a sports car. In the world of sports cars, however, there stands the basic criteria of speed, speed, speed, and, well, speed.

The fastest sports car according to various critics is the 1994 Dauer 962 LeMans, with acceleration speed of 2.6 seconds from 0 to 60 mph. The fastest Ferrari car is the 2002 Ferrari ENZO, and this one can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph at breakneck speed of 3.5 seconds. Other fast cars include a Chevrolet, a Dodge, a LeBlanc, a Renault, an Audi, and a Corvette, all of which have acceleration speeds of not more than 2.9 seconds from 0 to 60 mph.

Now, the question that begs answering is: what makes a fast sports car?

While stylistics make for a very good standard when getting a sports car, there’s more to the sleekness than just style. The very sleek and streamlined designs of these fast sports cars actually contribute to fantastic aerodynamics—making it much easier to drive the car fast without worrying about air resistance, air pressure, etc. In effect, the hot and sexy car design actually makes for more than aesthetics, but gives a boost to the speed and performance of the car.

Another feature that contributes to the speed of the car is its reduced weight. It’s evident in the reduced cargo capacity of a sports car. Luckily, this isn’t much of an issue with sports car enthusiasts. Related to cargo capacity and reduced weight is the fact that some sports cars may have smaller seating capacities, and usually are characterized by firmer, tighter rides, compared to the more spacious and comfortable rides offered by sports utility vehicles or sedans.

A last consideration in speed, however, is its general dynamics which include handling and drag when driving. A sports car has very little value if it cannot sustain its straight-line speeds when driving in tight curbs and ends up crushed after it hit a dead end. It is for this precise reason that even the fastest sports cars are usually rear-wheel driven rather than front-wheel driven, because of the fact that the rear-wheel drive provides greater traction and allows for the weight to be distributed evenly as the car makes a turn.

While there’s more to a sports car than just speed, it also doesn’t hurt that your sports car is fast. After all, the 1994 Dauer 962 LeMans is prized precisely because it rises above the speeds of every other fast sports car.

The Beauty that Sports Cars

The Beauty that Sports Cars Possess, in general, possess both form and function. The designers did not compromise aesthetics with performance.

However, there is something about sports cars that make them stand out when it comes to beauty. And we are not talking about external features only.

There is more to physical features like, sleekness of the car, that determine its beauty.

Here are some of the characteristics that endear sports cars to car enthusiasts.

Sports cars have attitude at first glance. Save cash and get your dream car Click Here!

Sports cars speak the attitude that they possess. They are not like mere cars whose presence can be ignored. They captivate the eyes of those who see them. They imply that thrill and enjoyment van be expected when their hands are those that control the wheel.

Sports cars stand above other cars, that are seen very day, primarily because the designs imply what they are capable of doing. A sleek look really matches a car with sleek activities.

Sports cars possess greater power.

Their power comes from their more powerful engines and has other specifications than other the cars have. A sports car can do more than ordinary tasks because of the features that only they possess.

Sports cars are made for driving pleasure.

Ordinary cars make driving monotonous and boring, while on the other hand, sports cars primarily aim to give the drivers a “high” feeling of speed and control. Only sports cars can provide that need for drivers who seek adventure.

Sports cars bring the thrill back to driving. They express what other cars can not. Sports cars are not designed just for practicality, but for pleasure too.

Sports cars are made for drivers who enjoy their ‘wild side’.

Drivers do have the need to express this ‘wild side’. Sports cars make any road a venue to satisfy those needs. Only sports cars can match the “wildness” that drivers innately have. For that reason, sports cars perfectly compliment the child in every driver.

Sports cars have evolved and improved through the years.

Drivers appreciate the improvements that have been made to sports cars. You could say that sports car technology has infinite possibilities. The stereotypes of sports cars have long been debunked. Those limits have been crossed. The only thing that car enthusiasts can do is to watch as these improvements unfold before their very eyes.

Sports cars make their owners feel good about themselves.

Sports cars are lifeless. They cannot feel proud because they are beautiful, but their owners take pride in having them. For tips on how to make $cash buying and selling used cars Click Here!

With all these things said about the intrinsic and extrinsic beauty that sports cars possess, only a person who does not appreciate their beauty and/or speed will not opt to get one.

In 1998, Porsche realized that

In 1998, Porsche realized that if they wanted to sell more Boxsters, they needed to produce more cars. To do so, they contracted with a plant in Finland called Valmet because the plant in Zuffenhausen couldn’t handle the increased production.

The Porsche Boxster and Boxster S are fast, powerful cars and most of all the best-handling production roadsters on the planet. Introduced in 1996, it remained essentially unchanged, other than moderate horsepower and interior-options tweaks. That’s what Porsche usually does with the successful models: it retains car look and configuration for ages.

The initial plan was for Boxster to be produced in Finland for only two years. Everybody thought that by that time the demand in Zuffenhausen would decrease so that plant could handle all production. But the Boxster demand remains high, and so does the one for 996, so against all expectations the plant will remain busy for the foreseeable future. Zuffenhausen can assemble 30,000 cars per year, so the only way the Boxster would be moved entirely to Finland is if Porsche could sell the better part of that many 996s. In the short term, that isn’t likely to happen though. Most of the cars destined for North America are built in Valmet.

Now it became impossible to specify where a car was built. Even ordering Tourist Delivery doesn’t force a Stuttgart build. Apparently some cars are shipped from Finland to Stuttgart for Tourist Delivery.

A more powerful second-generation Boxster was introduced in 2005 and it keeps Porsche’s conservative evolutionary path. Like its precedent, it is a mid-engine, six-cylinder two-seater that looks like the Porsche Spyder. Still, over half of Boxster`s structure and electronics are borrowed from the 911 Carrera.

The 2005 Boxster looked sprightlier than its 2004 equivalent, thanks to the revision of the torque and the 15 added hp and the extra power coming on strongly between 2000rpm and 4000 rpm. The 2005 Boxster S virtually equals the acceleration and top-speed performance of Porsche’s expensive 911 Carrera. The Boxster exhaust has been tuned to play a distinctive tromboning wail like no other car. This is a amazing thing thinking that both engines are smaller versions of the six-cylinder in the Carrera.

The transmission for base Boxters is five-speed manual but the optional variant offers a six-speed. Both models can also be fitted with a five-speed Tiptronic, the superb Porsche-designed automatic transmission that began the trend toward manually shifted automatics.

The bodywork and the interior of the Boxster are of high quality, but considering that there’s noting tricky or purely decorative, we can definitely say that these are not opulent cars. Still, the interior has been improved since the old car was often criticized for being to cheap-looking. The center console has been upgraded with revised switch-gear and titanium look paneling. The seats are more supportive and body-shaped in the new version, making them look absolutely superb. Unlike other roadsters, the Boxster
has no problem swallowing luggage for a long trip: it has two trunks, a small one in the rear and an amply deep one under the front hood.

One of The Boxster`s best qualities is the powered convertible top, very quick to retract or re-erect. In the new Boxster, the top can be operated at speeds up to 30 mph. The triple-layer padded cloth tops (with a heated-glass rear window) is as weather-tight and quiet as most metal roofs.

The Boxster is called a mid engine-car. The reason is that the sweet six-cylinder engine is mounted behind the seats, just fore of the rear axle. So if you want to see what’s under the hood once in while, well…you can’t do that with The Boxster. The only way to see the engine is from underneath or by removing body panels, which mechanics must do to service the engine. But, the good news is that having the engine mounted closer to the center of the car makes for better weight distribution. And that’s what makes the car handle superbly.

The demand and availability for

The demand and availability for hybrid cars…

has been growing steadily over the years because of the increasing concerns of motorists regarding the price increases of gas. Major automobile manufacturers have come up with their own versions of hybrid vehicles, and consumers have lots of considerations when purchasing these cars.

A selection of some of the best used hybrid cars on today’s market….

Toyota Prius is…

considered by many as the top-rated hybrid among them all, because of the presence of a gasoline engine that provides assistance to the electric motor when operating. For slower speeds, it is the electric motor that runs the car, and when the speed acts up, the gas engine takes over the reins. The mileage for the Prius is estimated at 60 mpg for city-driving speeds and 51 for the highway performance. Reportedly, the Prius has more spacious interiors compared to its closest competitor, the Honda Civic hybrid, and they say that the Prius is also better mileage-wise. This bestseller from Toyota comes with a distinctive exterior that sets it apart from its fellow hybrids belonging to the economy-class.

Honda Civic Hybrid…

this hybrid vehicle does not look different from its past models, and it does not stand apart from its competitors. Even though it is always the bridesmaid compared to the illustrious Prius, it has a reputation for higher speeds, especially on highways. The Civic also maintains the runner-up status with the Prius when it comes to fuel efficiency, with the Civic chalking up 26 mpg for driving within city range.

The Ford Escape Hybrid…

is the first Hybrid SUV in the market, another first for Ford Motors. Its success heralded the launching of the Mercury Mariner a year earlier than was intended. This hybrid vehicle produces 28 mpg in combination driving. This gem from Ford is known for its spacious cargo room, its easy maneuverability and its visibility. Its add-ons include anti-lock brakes and outlet for 110-volts located in the control panel. The Escape Hybrid still reigns supreme above its closest SUV rivals, such as Lexus.

Honda Insight

this hybrid from Honda may not be as award-winning as its competitors, but the Insight is proving itself as the best one when it comes to fuel economy. It runs on an impressive 60 mpg on city driving, and an awesome 66 mpg on the highway. Although the Insight is not as comfortable and impressive as the popular sister Civic or the famed Toyota Prius, it will do best as a second-car, or a commuter vehicle.

Other Hybrids to consider includes…

2006 Lexus RX 400h – it is the first SUV in the luxury level, it is known for its indefatigable power, its cool technology and its fuel efficiency.
2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid – it is said to drive better than the common SUV, and gives off great power, but the downside is its lack of gadgets on the dashboard.

Ferdinand Porsche played an important

Ferdinand Porsche played an important role in the development of airplanes and
racing cars, and the construction of tanks for the Wehrmacht. He is an automobile engineer with more than a thousand patents to his name. He was appointed chief engineer at Mercedes-Benz in Stuttgart in the 1920s. Later on, he set up his own engineering workshop and designed among others the Volkswagen. At the plant where Volkswagen was made, Wolfsburg, he was chief of operations and at the end of the war he was interned by the Allies.

He was released a few years later and started building his first car with his son, Ferry Porsche. The car was named the Porsche 356 and it was a sports car and a reminiscent of the Volkswagen. It had the same four-cylinder boxer engine that was rear-mounted, just like the VW. It was far from being a powerful sports car, developing only 40 bhp and a maximum speed of 87 mph (140 km/h). First produced as a convertible and later as a hard top it distinguished by the very elegant and innovative body. It was developed in the workshop of Erwin Komenda, a master of restrained streamlining who had been in charge of sheet metal and design techniques at Porsche since the VW Beetle.

The new style of closed coupe was designed by Komenda and it soon became the embodiment of the sports car, thanks to its fastback. This tradition was continued by Komenda and Ferdinand “Butzi” Porsche, the founder’s grandson, with the 911. The 911 became easily recognizable, it had attractive sloping bonnet and what later became characteristic “frog eye” headlights, curves running from the top edge of the windscreen to the rear bumper and a straight waistline. From a functional and technical point of view it was more like BMW 1500, although it retained the stylistic features of the original Porsche. The new 911 will become the foundation stone of Porsche’s identity, even though the design was not always appreciated. During the 1970`s and 1980`s, the designers attempts to distance Porsche from its legendary design brought the company to the edge of disaster.

The more modern 924model, “a people’s Porsche”, developed with Volkswagen, as well as the 928 were far from fulfilling the expectations. In the 1990`s, the company realized that what for over twenty years was perceived as straitjacket, it was in fact a market advantage. During the 1990`s, Porsche became highly profitable since theyknew that the typical Porsche features were timeless. Nearly forty people now worked in the design department on further developments of the long-running 911.These dvelopments included the 911 GTI, a powerful combination of sports and racing car, put forward by the in-house designer AnthonyR. Hatter. In 1999, chief designer proudly presented the new Boxster which enabled Porsche to establish a second independent range of models.

History points to the clear

History points to the clear difference of hybrid with all-electric cars. Electric cars use batteries charged by an external source. On this note, almost all hybrids, save for those considered as mild-hybrid, still need gasoline and diesel as their fuel source. Other fuels are also available in the form of ethanol or other plant based oils. Hybrid vehicles also use hydrogen gas occasionally.

The history of hybrid cars is immersed in controversy. Not so much for the product itself, but for the technology it uses. Is it old like the conception of wheel itself, or is it a recent construct of idea, as recent as the embryonic stem cell technology? Your take. Read on.

First of, a hybrid car is a vehicle that uses on-board RESS, or rechargeable energy storage system. This is coupled with a fueled propulsion power source for the automobile’s propulsion. Hybrid car is low-gas consuming vehicle, therefore, a low-polluting vehicle. The last point is particularly important because of the growing consciousness of the people worldwide on the need to conserve the environment.

The history of hybrid cars is closely intertwined with the history of automobile itself. In 1898, Ferdinand Porsche, a young Czechoslovakian, designed the Lohner-Porsche carriage, a series-hybrid vehicle that utilized a one-cylinder gasoline internal combustion engine. This engine can spun a generator which powered four wheel-mounted electric motors.

The car was eventually presented at the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris. The said automobile, capable of up to 56 km/h (35 mph) fast destroyed several Austrian speed records. In 1901, it won the Exelberg Rally, with Porsche himself driving the car. Over Mass production during this time was yet to be developed, but for Porsche’s future-looking design, 300 units of this model were sold to the public.

The first Porsche model however, technically speaking as we know Porsch today, was a hand-built aluminum prototype, and was completed on June 8, 1948.

The development of the first transistor-based electric car in 1959, the Henney Kilowatt, heralded a new development in the history of automobiles as a whole, and that of history of hybrid cars in particular. This transistor-based electric car, paved the way for the electronic speed control. Ultimately, this made the road for the development of modern hybrid electric cars possible.

The Henney Kilowatt was considered as the first modern electric car. It was a product of collaborative work between the National Union Electric Company, Henney Coachworks, Renault, and the Eureka Williams Company. Whilst the sales of the Kilowatt during this time were far from encouraging, its development served as prototype for the other automobiles down the history line of hybrid cars.

Between the 1960s and 1970s, another prototype of the earlier electric-hybrid vehicle was built by Victor Wouk. Wouk is among the scientists involved with the development of the Henney Kilowatt automobile. For this work, some historians bestowed onto him the honor being the “Godfather of the Hybrid” hybrid cars.

For his pioneering work, Wouk installed a sample electric-hybrid drivetrain into a 1972 Buick Skylark, courtesy GM for the 1970 Federal Clean Car Incentive Program. The program was later axed by the EPA in 1976. Hybrid enthusiast and supporters continued building hybrids automobiles. These models however, were not put into mass production.

1978, the regenerative-braking hybrid, was developed by Electrical Engineer David Arthurs. The said regenerative-braking is to become the core design concept of most hybrids, currently available in the market. The first attempt of Arthurs used off-the shelf components, including an Opel GT. But the voltage controller that links to the battery motor and the DC generator belonged to Arthurs.

In the 1990s the history of hybrid cars took the final step to modernity in terms of mass production during the Bill Clinton administration. Clinton initiated the Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles program in September, 1993, that involved the Department of Energy, Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, USCAR, and various governmental agencies. The partnership was tasked to engineer a modern efficient and clean vehicle.

This program was replaced George W. Bush’s own hydrogen focused FreedomCAR initiative in 2001. The focus of the FreedomCAR initiative was to fund research that are considered high risk for the private sector to engage in. The long term purpose of which is the development and production of petroleum emission.

The success of hybrid vehicles in terms of mass production however, became a reality, when the Japanese car manufacturer entered the American market. This is when the history of hybrid cars finally took its modern development. Honda Insight and Toyota Prius became the modern progenitor of modern day hybrid vehicle.
