In the past few months I've been trying to grow my hair because I miss long hair. My hair was due for a trim as it was at an awkward length and it lacked style. In the end I decided to get a proper hair style cut, medium bob style. I've had the short/medium bob style on and off for in the past few years.

I love my bob!

My best friend Cammy and her business partner Aaron recently launched their online fashion store called PROJECT SUNDAY. I am very proud of Cammy and Aaron, as they have put in a lot of effort in the establishment of Project Sunday

In October, Project Sunday did a photo shoot for their Spring/Summer 2011 collection, which I came along as the make-up artist. It was a very long and exhausting day, but Project Sunday managed to pull through with some amazing photos.

Project Sunday focuses on niche pieces which are also stylish at an affordable price. The current Project Sunday collection is girly, cheeky, fun, stylish and simple.

Heirloom

Heirloom is a new French-Japanese fine dining restaurant located on 131-135 Bourke St, Melbourne VIC 3000. It is also Shoya's affilated restaurant which is one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Melbourne, which serves fantastic traditional Japanese food including fresh sushi and sashimi.

My first impression of the decor of Heirloom wasn't what I expected and it felt like Heirloom failed at creating an inviting classy and contemporary space. It's not a bad place but it felt somewhat pretentious with the contemporary decor.

The idea of mixing French and Japanese cuisine did intrigue me, which was the main reason that I wanted to dine at Heirloom. I think the food is overpriced and overly complicated. I think the chef tried too hard to present a creative fusion fine dish, as it tasted like an ordinary dish with flavours that aren't well balanced.

It is such a shame because I had high hopes to book my birthday dinner here. It is more disappointing knowing that Heirloom is Shoya's affiliated restaurant, since I think highly of Shoya's restaurant, service, decor, atmosphere and food.

There weren't many customers dining at Heiroloom on a Friday night which suggest that it's not such a top fine dining restaurant at this stage.

Below is Heirlooms' take of a Chawanmushi (Japanese dish egg custard steamed in a pot featuring prawns, crab etc). This dish included an egg custard featuring salmon, salmon roe and crab. There was too many things in one dish, the flavours were heavy and the salmon was quite strong in this dish.

I usually associate a good Chawanmushi as simple, well balanced, warm and refreshing appetiser.

I think a good steak at a restaurant can say a lot about a restaurant.

This eye fillet cooked as medium-rare, and on the side included parsnip, glazed chestnut, confit king brown mushroom and watercres. The flavours on this this dish including the meat and mushroom was quite strong and tasted like I was overdosing on soya sauce. This dish was not appetising and the meat wasn't that juicy either.

This is an example of a dish where I think Heirloom failed at being creative with a fusion dish. The presentation looks is pretty but the flavours and texture wasn't fantastic, which means it's an overpriced dish at $35.

Heirlooms Petit Macaroons included hibiscus, passionfruit and chocolate rum. This isn't a traditional macaron with a typical cream based filling in between two cookies. This Heirloom's poor attempt at serving a creative take of traditional macarons and probably the worse macarons I've ever tried in my life.

The passionfruit include some sort of cream based passionfruit which was sort of chewy, the hibiscus included some sort of dark brown jelly and the chocolate included a strong chocolate rum cream based filling. The coloured cookies which covered the fillings which makes up the macarons were harder than a traditional macaron.

Hopefully Heirloom will change their menu by serving less complicated food by making their ensuring that their flavours are balanced and not heavy.

At this stage the food I had does not justify the price tag!

Roaring 1920s Birthday Party

On the 9th July 2011, I helped organise my friend's birthday party which involved everyone dressing to a 1920s theme. The party started with a modern Australian dinner at Feddish, followed by drinks at two bars 'Spice Market' and 'The Croft Institute'.

My outfit was inspired by 1920s Coco Chanel flapper girl. I wore a white ruffled dress, black polka dotted stockings, black suede heels, long necklaces and fur shawl. I also curled my hair and wore my beloved red lipstick by Chanel.

It was a great seeing everyone dressing up especially the Birthday Boy.

It was a fabulous night!

The Cupcake Family is one of my favourite places in Melbourne for cupcakes and macarons.

My favourite macarons from The Cupcake Family is green tea, raspberry and black sesame. As for the cupcakes, they all tastes good. I adore their mini cupcakes as they one of the more adorable little sweets ever.

Good sweet and savoury food usually brings a temporary smile to my face. =)

Yesterday I discovered an amazing jewellery line by DALLASANDCARLOS which was founded in Brazil in 2009 by two good friends Katherine Etheridge and Jessica Constance.

I fell in love with this 'mini skull box bracelet', which features a small gold-plated skull on a sterling silver chain.

I also convinced my best friend to get a bracelet by DALLASANDCARLOS and we both agreed to treat them as our friendship bracelets. My friend chose a 'cross cord bracelet' which features a gold cross on a red and blue cord.

I am in love with some of the jewellery pieces by DALLASANDCARLOS, as I think they offer some decent quality stylist yet delicate costume jewellery at a relatively good price. I plan to buy a few more pieces from this brand in the future.
