A Show Built with Consumer Fireworks

Our approach for the demo stayed consistent with what we’ve always tried to show at events like this: what’s possible using only 1.4G Consumer Fireworks.

At ELEVATE, many of the displays throughout the weekend featured professional-grade product. Those shows were inspiring in their own right, and we are always amazed by the experience and creativity that goes into designing them. And who doesn’t love fireballs?

For our demo, though, we intentionally kept everything within the consumer category. The goal wasn’t to compete, but to demonstrate how thoughtful timing, music, and pacing can bring consumer products together into a cohesive, meaningful show. We were also able to showcase how our consumer products can be used to create powerful, professional-grade moments!

Featuring Our In‑House Brands

The demo included a mix of products from all three of our in‑house brands:

• SFX Fireworks
• SFX Show Line
• The Great American Fireworks Co.

We designed the display as a hybrid demo and pyromusical. Some segments slowed down enough to intentionally feature individual items, giving viewers a clear sense of timing, color, and effect. Other moments pulled things together by layering products, mixing pacing, and building energy to show how different items can complement one another when used as part of a larger sequence. The aim was to balance clarity with creativity, and to offer ideas shooters could pull from whether they’re evaluating a specific product or thinking through how to shape an entire show.

A Moment That Brought It Home

As you’d expect, one of the most memorable parts of the show came at the end, with a red, white, and blue finale that tied together music, color, and rhythm. As we head into a historic Fourth of July, marking 250 years of American independence alongside 25 years of Superior Fireworks, that closing moment carried extra meaning.

For us, it was a fitting way to acknowledge both the milestone ahead and the shared tradition that connects shooters, families, and communities year after year.

Items offered for pre-order will clearly show an expected arrival date for each product based on our current production and shipping schedules, with all pre-orders expected to be fulfilled no later than the end of April. Early Order, Ship Early

As the name would suggest, the “Early Ship Sale” is all about shipping orders early in the season, which works out great for you and for us. To take advantage of the sale, all you have to do is order from January 30 to March 2 and have it shipped when it’s ready!

As it stands today, based on high on-hand inventory levels and currently scheduled arrival dates for pre-order items, it’s likely many Early Ship orders will ship in February and March.

How Pre-orders and Payments Work

When we receive your order, our team will reach out to:

• Collect a 50% down payment
• Provide a shipping estimate

Final payment will be collected Monday, March 16, or when your order is ready to ship (whichever comes first). Once it’s ready to go, we’ll reach out right away to schedule a shipping date!

If you aren’t able to take delivery of your order by the end of April, please let us know as soon as possible. We will not be able to extend the extra 10% discount, but we can still hold your order and keep your inventory reserved until a later shipping date if needed.

On Saturday, July 4, 2026, the United States of America celebrates 250 years of independence.

A milestone like that naturally makes you pause. It’s a chance to be grateful for the freedoms we share, to honor on the people who’ve carried this country forward, and to celebrate the enduring spirit that still unites us today as Americans.

At Superior Fireworks, we’re proud to celebrate this historic moment with 250 United. It’s our tribute to the people, the values, and the enduring spark of independence that make this country great. As we all light up the sky with family and friends this year, we’re honored to be part of this nationwide celebration.

In the first 25 years of Superior Fireworks, we’ve learned something simple: each moment matters because it’s part of a bigger story. That’s true for our company, and it’s true for our country. President George W. Bush put it this way:

As we step into 2026, we’re doing it with a lot of gratitude and a lot of excitement. Twenty-five years of Superior Fireworks. A historic 250th for our country. And of course, new products on the way, and wholesale season kicking off this week!

Passing Along Savings

As we shared earlier this year, tariff uncertainty created significant challenges that contributed to inventory shortages, cost increases, import shipping surcharges, and softer sales.

However, we are encouraged by the stability we’ve seen in recent months. Our tariff rate has remained unchanged since May, and peak-season shipping surcharges have ended. Together, these factors give us more certainty on inventory costs for the remainder of the year, allowing us to revisit our pricing and roll back some earlier increases.

Getting Ready for New Year’s

We are actively receiving inventory that was delayed in the spring, and selection will improve significantly over the next couple of months. Our website provides real-time inventory updates, including pre-order opportunities for upcoming arrivals.

Looking Ahead to 2026

We are closely watching the legal challenges that could affect the long-term status of tariffs on fireworks imported from China. If the tariff rate or related policies change, we will update you as soon as possible and adjust pricing as needed.

Understanding the Current Tariff Structure

The tariff rate consists of several components:

Note: For the remainder of this article, we reference only the additional tariff components imposed this year, excluding the regular 5.3%.

How We Got Here

This has been a very dynamic situation as tariff rates evolved over the past three months. When the additional 10% tariff was first introduced in February, our plan was to pass it through as directly as possible on an item-by-item basis as inventory arrived. This was going to average about a 4% price increase from where we started the 2025 season. When the 10% tariff became 20%, we were still going to stick to that plan.

However, in early April, reciprocal tariffs were added, making it 54%, then 104%, then 145%.

We were at COBRA-CON that week, and the mood within the fireworks community was tense as news came in about increasing back-and-forth rates with China.

As a result, we had to make some fast, difficult decisions:

• Canceled or restructured remaining China shipments, incurring extra costs to cancel bookings, return containers to our warehouses, and unload them.
• Paused or delayed production meant for New Year’s and next July 4th because China warehouses became overfilled instead of clearing out as expected.
• Shifted our pricing strategy to average tariffs across all products, preventing massive price swings between items and avoiding further disruption to purchasing behavior and supply chains.

As a result, we have less inventory and higher costs than originally planned for this season. Further, customers that normally buy drop-ship containers had to cancel and rely on domestic inventory instead, putting added pressure on availability.

What’s Next

The impact of recent trade tensions will have a lasting impact.

Looking ahead, we are not sure where final tariff rates will land. If last week’s trade deal with the UK is any indication, rates with China aren’t going back to zero, even in a best-case scenario. The current tariff relief is temporary, and unless extended or followed by a new agreement, rates will climb back to 54% after the 90-day window ends.

We will almost certainly see higher ocean shipping rates soon as well. Most fireworks importers, along with many others, stopped booking new shipments from China in April, in addition to canceling shipments that had already been booked. Huge numbers of sailings were canceled as a result. With this temporary tariff reduction in place, we expect a rush of shipping demand to result in vessel space shortages, increased shipping rates, and possibly fireworks inventory shortages for New Year’s.

It’s worth noting that ocean shipping lines only offer limited space per vessel for fireworks, which they often cancel when they have excessive demand for general cargo.

Pricing Impact

Navigating these challenges is tough. We’re doing everything possible to shield our customers from the worst impacts while preparing for increased costs in the months ahead. This 4th of July season is our only real chance to prepare financially.

With all of this in mind, we have taken a phased approach, gradually averaging tariffs into our pricing while keeping a close eye on the news.

• We implemented wholesale price increases on April 12 and May 1, with a combined impact of about 17% over the start of the season.
• We implemented retail price increases on May 1, but this was more limited because we reduced markup to help preserve the best possible pricing.

Thanks to the current tariff rollback, prices will remain stable through July 4.

What This Means for You

For Wholesale Customers

Inventory is limited this 4th of July, and if you haven’t placed your wholesale fireworks order yet, do it now. The combination of canceled imports and peak-season demand is driving high competition for domestic inventory.

For Retail Customers

With the 4th of July falling on a Friday, this will be a huge celebration year at our store in Orange Park, Florida! Shop early for the best selection, the best pricing, and the best shopping experience of the season.

Update — May 28

The U.S. Court of International Trade ruled on May 28 that these tariffs exceed the president’s authority granted under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), the National Emergencies Act (NEA), and the Trade Act of 1974. As such, the court blocked the tariffs.

The Trump administration has appealed and is seeking a pause while it challenges the ruling. It seems likely that the case will end up before the Supreme Court.

Even if this ruling is upheld, there is uncertainty about next steps. The court did cite more limited authority to levy tariffs in a more targeted, temporary manner, and we expect that would be implemented on imports from China.

Additionally, we just received notice about shipping surcharges impacting fireworks shipments from China, as expected.

Update — June 11

The Trump administration announced June 11 that a trade agreement has been reached with China.

Per Reuters: “A White House official said the agreement allows the U.S. to charge a 55% tariff on imported Chinese goods. This includes a 10% baseline ‘reciprocal’ tariff, a 20% tariff for fentanyl trafficking and a 25% tariff reflecting pre-existing tariffs.”

The pre-existing tariff rate on some product categories is 25%, but as noted above, it’s only 5.3% for fireworks. As such, the agreement will maintain the current 35.3% tariff on fireworks.

This is a developing situation with no clear resolution at this time. As such, we are not able to make any immediate changes. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.

On February 1, 2025, President Trump signed an executive order implementing an additional 10% tariff on goods imported from China that enter the United States starting Tuesday, February 4. This was amended in a subsequent executive order on March 3, increasing the rate to 20% effective March 4. Here’s what you need to know about how this affects the consumer fireworks industry and what steps you can take to minimize the impact on your next wholesale fireworks order.

What does the tariff apply to?

The order applies to all products from China, without exception. All of the fireworks we sell at Superior Fireworks are imported from China. There is no American manufacturing base for consumer fireworks, and few other countries have the capacity or expertise to produce them to U.S. standards.

Current on-hand inventory is not impacted, and neither is inventory that was already “loaded onto a vessel at the port of loading or in transit on the final mode of transport prior to entry into the United States” by February 1.

As such, all fireworks loaded for shipping from China starting February 1 will be subject to this additional tariff. This coincides with the start of the peak shipping season from Chinese New Year through the middle of May for fireworks to arrive in the United States for 4th of July celebrations.

Thankfully, we have already received a significant amount of inventory to start our 2025 season, and the vast majority of items currently offered for pre-order to wholesale customers are already in transit on shipping vessels, which provides a buffer period before most prices are impacted.

Who pays the tariff?

We do. Importers like us pay tariffs to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Service based on the value of the goods being imported. This is paid as each shipment is processed before arriving at a U.S. port of entry and becomes part of our landed cost of goods.

How do tariffs impact pricing?

Tariffs are included in the calculation we use to set pricing, along with the amounts paid for manufacturing, overseas shipping rates, brokerage fees, and even exchange rate adjustments. Since we expect these new tariffs to be temporary, we are passing them along as closely as possible to actual cost rather than applying normal markup.

On average, our wholesale prices will increase about 8% after we sell through on-hand stock and move into newly imported inventory that is subject to these tariffs.

When will pricing be updated?

We updated wholesale prices effective February 3 for pre-order items that had not yet loaded for shipment from China, since those were the first products impacted. There is no on-hand inventory to sell through, and the inventory currently offered for sale will be subject to the additional tariff as it arrives.

Products immediately impacted are:

• Feeding Frenzy
• American Creed
• Compound “V” Green Glitter Mines to Gold Willows
• Sons of Liberty
• Silver-to-Red Stars with Tails

Note that these prices were initially changed to reflect the initial 10% tariff rate, and will be adjusted again, effective March 5, to reflect the newly announced 20% tariff.

For customers who have already placed orders that include these pre-order items, we are honoring the existing pricing on your order.

Moving forward, prices will be adjusted on an item-by-item basis as we transition into inventory received with the additional tariff.

Our Commitment to You

We understand that any price increase is unpleasant, but we are committed to treating you fairly and communicating as transparently as possible about how current events impact all of us. We will increase prices only when necessary, to the extent required to cover these additional costs, only for the duration that they are needed.

Our best recommendation at the moment is to place your wholesale order as early as possible to minimize the number of items that are impacted by these new tariffs.

Ready-to-Go Shows

What Are Ready-to-Go Shows?

Ready-to-Go Shows are pre-designed fireworks shows prepared by our team using the Superior Fireworks Show Builder with the IGNITE Firing System integration. We’re leveraging our product knowledge, experience shooting our own shows, and passion for fireworks to create awesome fireworks shows we know you’ll love!

Each show is available on our website as a single product you can purchase that includes all the fireworks you’ll need. You’ll also be able preview each show in the Show Builder, where you’ll find an IGNITE module report with instructions for connecting everything at your shoot site.

The IGNITE modules and igniters are sold separately, giving you flexibility to use the equipment you already own.*

*If your IGNITE modules are not the same as the model assigned for the show, you can substitute an i36 module in place of an i18, but will otherwise have to edit the show settings with your specific hardware so it can update the cue assignments. This will also require printing an updated module report from the Show Builder.

Who Are They For?

Our goal is to design a variety of shows that appeal to beginners and enthusiasts alike. Whether you simply don’t have the time, or frankly, the desire to script your own show, this gives you a great option to still pull off an amazing display.

What Firing Systems Are Supported?

We leverage the IGNITE integration within the Superior Fireworks Show Builder to generate an IGNITE Show Code that you can import directly into your IGNITE app for a seamless experience.

Not using IGNITE? No problem! Although you won’t be able to leverage the direct IGNITE integration, you can still use the Show Details report from the Show Builder as a reference for creating the same show in any system you prefer. We will make COBRA script files available for download as well.

How Closely Do the Real-Life Shows Match the Show Builder Visualization?

As of this writing, our team has designed, built, and shot six shows using this exact process end-to-end to confirm that what you get in the field matches the expectations set by the Show Builder. Here’s what to expect:

• Live fireworks performance will not precisely match the visualization. This would also be true if you were designing a fireworks show using product videos as a reference. Consumer fireworks are simply not manufactured with the tight tolerances necessary to be 100% consistent from one batch to the next, or even from one worker to the next within the same batch.
• In particular, individual item durations will almost never exactly match the visualization, but are mostly within five seconds. Longer-duration items and higher-shot-count items are more prone to timing drifts.
• Ultimately, we’ve been extremely pleased with the outcomes and are confident that you will be too!

How Do I Get Started?

We’ve designed two different collections of shows: one for wholesale customers, and another for customers shopping at our retail store in Orange Park, Florida.

Wholesale shows are generally larger and designed to meet our wholesale minimum while using full cases of each item. For smaller shows, we also take advantage of mixed-case sets and cases with low quantities to provide a great mix of effects.
