Since the beginning of the year the Chilean Manuel Selman moved several WQS events placing in box 19 with 2969 points. Here's how he tells us:

An extreme sport is an activity in which the pleasure is gained from intense thrill and often have an element of danger along with precise balancing. The best example of this is surfing which requires you to fight against nature and your own body in order to perform excellent stunts and tricks.

If you are new to surfing then you should choose a good location. Ideally, you want an area that is free of rocks and even. If it is your first time on a surfboard then you should go flat since it will balance the same as it does without you on it. If the end points too much up or down then it will be harder to successfully catch waves.

When you are new to surfing the majority of your time will be spent paddling so you should take this time to develop a good technique. The important thing at this point in time is stamina and endurance. To start you should paddle with one arm at a time in order to have consistent movement. The next tricky part is to move into a standing position and you should try this on dry land before trying it on the water.

It is important that you don't stay too rigid. Rather you want to spread your body weight evenly between your two feet. Crouching can help since it will lower your center of gravity and board wax can help increase the grip between your feet and the board.

The most important piece of equipment for surfing in the board and you need to choose one carefully. For beginners a larger board will often make the training process easier. On average, an adult needs an eight-foot foam surfboard to start. To keep your board close by when you fall off you should have a leash connection your foot to the board.
