Windows Vista Transformation Pack

behramand.27@gmail.com (Unknown) — Thu, 26 Apr 2012 09:05:00 -0700

Do you like how Windows Vista looks like, but you have Windows XP? Now you have the opportunity to transform your Windows XP or Windows 2003 Server's interface into a Windows Vista interface. Vista Transformation Pack allows you to change and customize your Start menu, Desktop, and Taskbar.

A lot of skins are available for you to choose from. There also is a docking Sidebar which contains a Memo text feature, clock, organizer, picture slide show. The installation process backs up your original system files, so that they can be completely restored in case you want to go back to the classical Windows GUI.

One of the nice features of this desktop enhancement utility is the battery meter that is displayed on the right side by default. Every gadget that is displayed by default on the sidebar, can be dragged wherever you like on the screen.

Pluses: Windows Vista Transformation Pack is a free product. It adds a customizable new look to your Windows desktop, with little or no intervention from your side.

Drawbacks / flaws: Once installed, it might reduce the speed of your machine and might create system instability. For example, on my computer, sometimes the default user icon that normally shows up in the Start menu, is displayed somewhere in the middle of the screen and remains there until I reboot.

In conclusion: Windows Vista Transformation Pack is an interesting application, with lots of new features just waiting to be put through the test. If you are bored with your Windows XP interface, this software is a definite must-try.

TeamViewer

behramand.27@gmail.com (Unknown) — Thu, 26 Apr 2012 07:48:00 -0700

TeamViewer is an excellent screen-sharing and file-transfer app that can be used to facilitate business collaborations, remotely access a second computer, or help distraught relatives diagnose and cure computer problems. Along with being free for noncorporate use, it gives users precisely the tools they need to share screens securely, send files with a minimum of hassle, control access rights, and even flip which user has control.

The options available while you're in control work smoothly. You can maximize the pane that the other computer's screen is visible in, as well as utilize several smart options from a drop-down toolbar in the center of the window. A big X lets you close the connection, while the Actions button lets you switch who's in control, disable remote input, and reboot remotely. The View menu hides options to adjust the screen resolution, the optimization toward speed or quality, and control multiple-monitor displays. New features that work just as effortlessly as the old ones include VoIP audio and video conferencing, and integrated teleconferencing. These features push TeamViewer a notch above the rest because they will work without requiring firewall reconfiguration.

When you log in, you're given an access code and a password. Sharing those allows your computer to be controlled by the level you set it to: remote support, presentation, file transfer, or VPN. The TeamViewer servers remember which computers you've connected to, so reconnecting to previously shared computers happens faster. TeamViewer also has a Web-based version, for remote connecting to home from public computer. Even the installation process is impressive. Users can toggle admin rights, can opt out of running at startup, and can opt into installing the TeamViewer VPN driver for more secure screen sharing. TeamViewer makes screen-sharing and file-sharing as fluid and unobtrusive as it should be, and is a must-have for the home or remote office user.

Review for iPhone PC Suite

behramand.27@gmail.com (Unknown) — Mon, 23 Apr 2012 22:22:00 -0700

iPhone PC Suite is a mobile phone application that you can use to manage and edit any type of content from your personal computer to your iPhone device.

It is ideal for the people who are continuously connected to their iPhones and who spend a lot of time “playing” with the content in it.

After a brief installation process that checks if you have iTunes installed on your PC (and installs it if you don't), you see the simple yet attractive interface of iPhone PC Suite, with a bunch of colorful buttons (Files, Apps, Pictures, Docs, Chat, and Turn Off) and tabs (Management, System, Media, Community, Updates).

Every feature is quite self-explanatory. You have the option of downloading and uploading pictures from the computer to your iPhone, as well as access and manage the camera, contacts, eBooks, SMS messages, call logs, and notes.

In addition, you can even send SMS messages from your computer via iPhone, backup and restore files and folders, and many others.

When playing around with the software you are not likely to encounter any major difficulties, but sometimes the application might take more time than usual to perform various tasks, especially if you are running Windows 7.

Moreover, there seems to be an incompatibility issue with iPhone PC Suite and some anti-virus and anti-malware solutions as alerts may occur, but the tool itself works perfectly fine.

Nevertheless, iPhone PC Suite can be used by anyone who owns an iPhone and who wishes to manage their content in a much easier way, while also enjoying a well organized interface.

Sony Ericsson PC Suite

behramand.27@gmail.com (Unknown) — Mon, 23 Apr 2012 22:17:00 -0700

Sony Ericsson (just Sony as of January 2012) is one of the leading mobile phone manufacturers. Selling over 100 million units in 2007 and almost the same amount in 2008, Sony Ericsson just had to create an in-depth application to manage those particular handsets. Thus, Sony Ericsson PC Suite was born. It is the official tool of the company that provides administration of mobile phone data through the connection to a computer.

The only notable thing about the installation process is the necessary time needed for the drivers to complete their deployment. Once you run the application, you’re introduced to several connection types (USB Cable, Bluetooth or Infrared) that you can use depending on your possibilities. The recommended connection method is through USB, as it provides fastest transfers of data between phone and PC.

The interface of Sony Ericsson PC Suite is pretty simple actually and while it does its job, the color scheme may interfere with your emotions – gray is good, but an all-gray GUI is a bit sad. Connecting a phone will try to revive the situation a little by adding some color to the interface. The function categories are lined up in the left side of the window as it follows: Tools, Editors and Application.

The first category, Tools, provides access to Synchronization, Backup & Restore, Internet Connection and Phone repair. The Editors section allows you to manage your Files, Text / Picture Messages, Contacts or Calendar. Media Go and Adobe PhotoShop Album SE are integrated within the Applications area.

All in all, if you have a Sony Ericsson GSM mobile phone, you definitely have to use Sony Ericsson PC Suite. It features the necessary set of tools to easily manage your phone, while adding extra capabilities for accessing the Internet on your PC using your handset or SMS creation using your keyboard. Administration of multimedia content is also available as this particular suite wraps everything you need within.
