Regarding: "Technology does help to keep in touch"...

Perhaps technology only provides the illusion of keeping in touch, and that false sense of closeness actually makes it easier for people to drift further apart. Maybe it depends on the relationship and the technology.

Excellent question. Most of our doors *are* almost always open during
the day. So perhaps this is a limitation to my theory, but I do not
think so

One could extend the theory to conference rooms -- if your office
conference rooms do not have handles that have seen some use -- how
are you collaborating?

What I found, anecdotally, is that people with doors always open or
doors always closed are not the ones with really "connected" people.
Doors always open means the person in them is not really working on
tasks requiring concentration, or interacting with other people -
which is often loud. I will usually almost close the door when working
with others, and keep it completely open or closed depending on the
intensity of the task. All of these actions touch the handles.

And no - none of the photos are of my door handle.

For RAW I use:

* Nikon View to generate JPG Previews in the NEF
* Nikon View to rotate
* iView MediaPro (now owned by MS) to sort, choose, rename, and annotate
* Nikon Capture to batch convert
* SendToSmugmug to upload

I'm experimenting with Lightroom to do smarter, more individual conversion. I'm a little afraid of muching with the images too much without actually seeing them on a proper monitor.

For JPG:
* ACDSee to rotate

And I just use iTunes for music, also.
