<![CDATA[It's all change at Surrey County Council right now. Aiming to become an even more efficient and effective Council, we're rejuvenating our whole Information Management and Technology function to upgrade the service for the 30,000 users within our organisation. With a new multimillion pound injection into the department, we're embracing new, state of the art technologies, refining our processes and expanding our contracts too. With two newly commissioned data centres that will support more than 1.1m people countywide, we have some exciting new and existing new projects to get into. Every single one offers the opportunity to make your mark and influence our future direction.

Outstanding technical delivery has a huge role to play in bringing our plans to life, so yours will be a critical role. A central source of expertise and strategic leadership, you'll drive technical implementations within architecture, manage multiple projects across several complex systems for different areas of the Council concurrently and deliver across all our IT infrastructure components. You'll also guide your team as they take on implementation challenges across our infrastructure and many in-service applications. And by developing improvement strategies and putting them into action, you'll ensure that our technical infrastructure remains able to meet the ever-changing needs of the Council.

Proven change management and team leadership experience is therefore essential, as is the ability to liaise with and influence stakeholders at the highest levels. An impressive track record of planning and delivering architectural solutions is critical, along with a solid understanding of both ICT service provision and ICT strategy. Technical awareness of issues such as MCSE, CNE, Server management and business continuity are also key, as is the ability to get the very best out of a team.

This is a fascinating role within a new and ambitious leadership team that will offer you the chance to transform how Surrey County Council achieves innovative cost saving initiatives through changing the way services are provided. The challenges will be complex and your skills will be tested to the full. But the benefits are outstanding, and the opportunity to make an impact is second to none.

For an informal chat about the role then please contact Paul Jennings, IMT Technical Architecture and Delivery Group Manager, preferably via email (paul.jennings@surreycc.gov.uk) or on 0208 541 9986.

To apply please submit a personal statement of no more than 2 sides of A4, explaining how you meet the essential criteria. Please attach to your CV and upload as one document.

As most of our overall aims depend on the delivery of outstanding technical services and managing 2nd and 3rd Line Support teams, your role will be a crucial role. <![CDATA[It's all change at Surrey County Council right now. Aiming to become an even more efficient and effective Council, we're rejuvenating our whole Information Management and Technology function to upgrade the service for the 30,000 users within our organisation. With a new, multimillion pound injection into the department, we're embracing new, state of the art technologies, refining our processes and expanding our contracts too. With two newly commissioned data centres that will support more than 1.1m people countywide, we have some exciting new and existing projects to get into. Every single one offers the opportunity to make your mark and influence our future direction.

This role will see you driving improvements at the heart of our service provision. Your focus will be to lead, support and strategically manage our two Data Centres - ensuring that the integrity of the environment, infrastructure and applications remains uncompromised. You'll also develop our hosting services and our approach to Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery. And to ensure that the hosting environment remains able to meet the ever-changing needs of the Council and our many partners, you'll also deliver a host of improvement programmes.

Proven change management and team leadership experience is therefore essential, as is the ability to liaise with and influence stakeholders at the highest levels. It is essential that you have previously managed a Data Centre and ideal if that was within a hosting environment. Technical knowledge is crucial - particularly with regard to server management and Data Centre M&E infrastructure and maintenance regimes. You'll also need to be a strategic thinker and natural problem solver, with a background in delivering results and change within a managed service environment.

This is a fascinating role within a new and ambitious leadership team. The challenges will be complex and your skills will be tested to the full. But the benefits are outstanding, and the opportunity to make an impact is second to none.
