When someone comes here asking about what gun to get started with its almost universally "Get a Ruger 10/22.'
"Storable" meaning a shelf life of at least 3 years, stored cool, dark, dry.
Let's compare ounces or grams/dollars.

Most people do not freeze during an emergency because they are weak, cowardly, or incapable.

They freeze because their brain is trying to understand a situation it has never processed before.

When something unexpected happens, the mind immediately starts searching for a familiar pattern. If it cannot find one, valuable seconds are lost trying to answer basic questions:

What is happening?

Is this real?

What am I supposed to do?

Am I in danger?
That hesitation is called the startle...
I’m looking to get some forum feedback and sanity checks on a project I’m spinning up.

I recently acquired 10 stripped AR-15 lowers. I already have plenty of everyday-use and specific use rifles for myself. Instead, I want to build a standardized "fleet" of identical, rugged rifles that will go into deep storage.

Spring is here! Happy, happy!

So, what are you harvesting now and how are you storing it? Love to hear what everyone's busy with.

Here on the Gulf Coast, I've dug my Louisiana multiplier onions (walking onions aren't ready yet). Hung some in an old peanut net bag and froze the rest.

Picked enough rose petals to make a little rose petal jelly that I canned up.

Dehydrated strawberries, enough for 2 pints. Never again-too much slicing!

Hoping for dewberries in the next couple...
Call this a diary, or the ramblings of an old man, but this post "The move to the BOL" is about my change from urban life to a very rural portion of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

10 September 2022

I have arrived, opening another chapter to the book. The timing couldn’t have been better coming across the bridge. As an SB member alluded, traffic was light going northbound. The only problem we had was Rick’s truck got a metal hook...
