A common discussion point is forming a group with others who have preps and knowledge so the group can survive and thrive. Hard to do right now when we aren't in a total crisis. And if a crisis does occur just connecting with others will be difficult.

So what about the majority of people who don't prep and suddenly find themselves hungry and scared....and almost everyone around them in the building or neighborhood is in the same situation.

Not sure which forum to post this to, but here goes:

I drive older cars, and am pretty much a DIY'r with them, when it comes to repairs.

My daily driver is a 2007 Ford Focus, and currently has 200K miles on it. It's still in really good shape (I take good care of it). But I'm a little concerned about the high mileage, and have been thinking about a new car.

The general advice from AI on the Internet is: "If the repair costs more than the value of the car, it's time to buy a new one"...

I just had to buy one of these due to the price and my curiosity about the round.
I can think up as many arguments against it as any here.
So instead of telling me what I already know , could any here give me POSITIVE input about the round.
I watched Hickok45 do a side by side with the Ruger and the MUCH higher priced version.
He had lots of good to say about this model.
So asking if any here are a fan AND have any POSITIVE input.

I recently thinned the herd and donated eight .38 Special revolvers and 2000 rounds of factory ammo to the police academy here for training use. I felt it necessary that new officers understood the basics of safe and effective revolver handling.

That cut my inventory to about a dozen and 10,000 rounds. My only .357 is a 1936 Colt New Service

Saw this on the San Juan Mountain group on FB. This guy followed his GPS that routed him from Sliverton, over Ophir Pass (like 11 or 12,000 ft) in the So CO Rockies. 🤣 🤣

The post said he was stopping every 50 feet to move rocks out of the way. Sometimes it's a good idea to turn around if things don't seem right.

So what happened was, I was on a field exercise with an infantry Platoon at Ft Benning Ga., and we were at the Circle of Woe on the land nav course (IYKYN). We're doing an overnight.

Found out that my NCO, for a joke, pulled my sleeping bag out of my ruck on a °29-°30 night. He didn't get my woobie and poncho I had tied in the frame of my Alice pack for a pad.

Used my E-tool to dig a ranger grave to get out of the wind, filled it with leaf litter, got into my woobie/poncho setup, got in...

Usually, by now I'd have heard more predictions on what sort of winter we're heading to, and it'd be garbage. Maybe the pundits are tired of being wrong or maybe it's literally all up in the air, but the bad thing for me is I am already feeling it in one of the mildest Octobers I can remember in this area, and except for my military time away, I can remember going back to 1978 when I moved here.

Last year, and for many years, I'd simply go in with a shirt, and two T shirts for the most...

Need to vent. The old man is driving me nuts now, if shtf will it get any better?
For starters, he is such a habitual everything, doesn't seem flexible in doing something differently (example-- drive a different route into town, I like to take a different way just to see "what else" is out there, isn't that a healthy young perspective?)

always a bit humorous... hundreds of thousands without power, maybe have some cell service, but the authorities will tell you to go online use their app to do...whatever. hey government... no power, limited cell signal, no internet, need information and maybe help fairly quickly..oh and my computer is 2 feet under water....just sayin !!! LOL

Because the utilities in most of the subdivisions by us are underground, we haven’t had an extended power outage (> 1 hour) EVER, in 20+ years. Most have been 5-10 minutes and only 1-2 times a year.

Earlier this week we had two multi-hour outages in one day. One was because of a problem at a substation, and the other was because a guy hauling very tall cargo in his truck hit some overhead power lines in town.

Funny thing is, I had just gone to the gas station the day before and bought 20...

This is for the last three revolver guys on this forum. Me, Outpost75 and Rice Paddy Daddy. Heritage has a new "Rosco" snubby in 32 magnum. I am not sure how interested I am in another 32 snub but I am all for anything that promotes the 32 caliber revolvers.

A while ago, on YOUTUBE, some lady who raises chickens shares what she does. Word went out to her community that her land was a great place to retire egg layers that are done. People drive up, see the chickens roaming her land and yard and pass over their former layers.

She says she'll feed them until it's their time.

I guess they don't ask many questions and if they do, she doesn't accept them.

Any thoughts on undercoating? Just splurged and bought a brand new pickup. Would like to have it rustproofed but what works and what doesn't. Had a vehicle years ago that had tuff coat dynol and another with ziebart and they both helped a lot compared to comparable vehicles in the great white salty north.

Let me preface this with the fact I have never owned an e-bike/trike of any kind.

Additionally by “SHTF” this can run the range from short term needs, such as prolonged power outages after a storm, to regional grid attack that creates prolonged outages and beyond. These sorts of events would nearly immediately create traditional fuel shortages. The sorts lines at the pumps would go for miles and once depleted, resupply very inconsistent at best. Ask anyone in a hurricane state what happens...

Starting my morning slowly, out in nature with a fresh cup of coffee, is always a good way to start the day.

If I am already having a bad day, I stop whatever I am doing, walk outdoors, and just breathe...

If it has been a horrible day, boudin balls are a perfect solution to turn things around.

Today I did some research on heirloom seeds and passed the info on, to some friends. Also will be hitting the pool to get the exercise in. Will be reading my survival manual during my down time tonight.

Prepping can be quite overwhelming to beginners, but doable in bite sized pieces.

Our family recently moved out to the middle of nowhere and the house has a prebuilt Chicken coop from the previous owners with the run. Kinda great not having to build it yet we want to make the most of it. We've already been cleaning it from top to bottom. We're also getting a flock of mature chickens from my mother. Currently it's home to our dogs who will be moved over to another section as we just finished building a nice kennel with a fenced-in area to run.
