There has been speculation as to what will actor Suriya's next filmwould be after 'Maatraan'. However, there seems to be some clarity in that regard now after news came in that Suriya will be teaming up with director Venkat Prabhu and the film will be produced by Muktha Entertainment Pvt Ltd.

It may be noted that Venkat Prabhu's previous film 'Mankatha' starring Ajith and Trisha had a wonderful opening in 2011 and the director's stock rose with it. Details about the the star cast and the genre of this film are awaited and sources say they will be revealed very soon. In the mean time, it is learnt Venkat Prabhu is gearing up to get the project rolling as
soon as Suriya is done with 'Maatraan'.

Delay in Maatran

The thundering combination of K.V. Anand and Suriya struck gold in box office for the producers with its previous movie ‘Ayan’. The duo combo back again to make an impressive show and that’s ‘Maatran’. The film has been shot extensively across the virgin locations of Russia and many more scenic places.

Earlier plans were to release the film somewhere in April and May and now the producers seem to have changed their plans. According to the inside reports, the film’s release date is scheduled between April and June due to Tamil Film Producers Council.

A couple of days ago, Tamil media was abuzz with news that Murugadoss has dropped Thuppakki. Vijay fans also reacted sharply to Murugadoss’ announcement. However, looks like Murugadoss was misquoted because he has not said that the project is shelved (for now at least).

An avid twitteratti, Murugadoss often provides updates to his followers on the daily happenings of his projects and his opinion about things in general. Following the FEFSI strike that has paralyzed Tamil cinema’s work recently, Murugadoss tweeted that he has stalled Thuppakki until further notice. While, this could mean that Murugadoss has no intention to go back to Thuppakki, it can also be interpreted that the delay is temporary and that the movie will be kickstarted as soon as FEFSI returns back to work. We hope it’s only the latter.

Basking in the glory of the success of Nanban, Sathyan is excited that he's got his hands full currently.

He reveals that his next project is Thuppaki, where he plays a pivotal role as Ilayathalapathy Vijay's childhood friend. He says that the role was offered to him by director A R Murugadoss after watching his performance during the Nanban shoot. "I signed up for Thuppaki before completing Nanban, as the associate producers of the film recommended my name to director A R Murugadoss, after watching shots of my performance in Nanban. I play a very pivotal role, one that is as important as the hero's in the film," he says excitedly.

Surya plays negative role in Maatran

Chennai, Feb 2 (TruthDive): The first look of the upcoming Tamil movie, “Maatran” with a tag line as “Some Times the End Is Just the Beginning”, was posted by Surya in Twitter.

The movie is directed by KV Anand, actress Kajal Agarwal playing lead female role and music is given by Harris Jayaraj. The movie is expected to release in April.

In Maatran, Surya will be doing two roles. One will be a hero and other one will be a Negative role. For the first time Surya is going to play a negative role.

Surya character in the movie is something very different and special, also the actor is said to perform something which even Hollywood heroes never touched and would dare to perform add sources.

KV Anand is working hard to make his fourth venture Maatran a bigger one. The film is said to be science fiction with pump action thrills and actions.

KV Anand is now approching Stan Winston Studios for Maatran. Surya and KV Anand have flown to US for shooting some daring special effects scenes for Maatran.

Anand and Suriya are supervising some awesome special effects for the film at the Stan Winston Studios in US. Hollywood films like Avatar, Jurassic Park, Terminator and many other special effects laden blockbusters have been shot at Stan Winston.

But they left their mark in Tamil film industry with recent Superstar’s blockbuster Enthiran the Robot. Now KV Anand has brought back the team for Surya’s Maatran. This is the first time that KV Anand has been doing a film based on Visual Effects and he wanted the best.

Maatran produced by AGS Entertainment is the costliest Tamil film on the floors. Suriya has five different looks in the film. The film has been shot in some of the exotic locations in the world including Russia.

Vijay’s big film of last year ‘Velayudham’ is completing 100 days today. The film was released on Diwali day with a grand opening.
The film with a budget of Rs. 45 Crores grossed more than 120 Crores worldwide.

Playing villain to Ajith and Vijay at the same time is a big challenge for any actor. And Vidyut Jamwal seems to enjoying every moment of it. The actor, who is simultaneously shooting for Billa 2 and Thuppakki, is excited about sharing screenspace with two of the reigning stars in the Tamil film industry.

"It's a heady feeling when you oppose Ajith and Vijay onscreen at the same time. And I think I'm lucky to have the opportunity to interact with the two of them. While Ajith is a very warm person and goes out of his way to make you comfortable, Vijay is super energetic, cool and has no airs of being a star," he begins.

The actor shot a very 'chilling' action scene for Billa 2 in Georgia recently, and claims it will be one of the highlights of the film. "This is the kind of action sequence that usually features in a Hollywood flick, and when you see it on screen, you get goosebumps! I was wondering how Ajith and I would be able to fight when the snow was falling heavily and covering the roads. I thought it was humanly impossible to shoot, but Ajith and director Chakri were meticulous and prepared well for it. It's probably a first for an Indian film, and I'm happy I will be part of this attempt," he says.

In the days that he spent shooting with Ajith, the actor claims he has become a fan of his. "He can talk about everything under the sun. He has a good knowledge of food, fashion and health. He's someone who's comfortable with his body and is both fit and agile," he certifies.

Vidyut is quick to add that he finds Vijay equally amazing as a person. "I have just started shooting with him. But he's such a revelation. Despite having huge fan following and having achieved a cult status in K-Town, he remains grounded," he adds.

The actor recently won the Best Male Debut Award at the recently-held Filmfare for his performance in Force, a remake of Kaakha Kaakha. Ask him if he plans to sign on more films down south, given that they are proving lucky for him, and he signs off by saying, "I'd love to, but I haven't received any interesting scripts till now. But I will soon be making an announcement regarding my next big Bollywood project."

The past few days have been rather hectic for actor Suriya and director K V Anand, it can be said. The duo, who are coming together after 'Ayan' for 'Maatraan', have been shooting late in the evenings for a high-octane action scene in the film, according to sources.

According to reports, Anand said, 'about 70 per cent of the film is complete and we're wrapping up an action sequence now.'

Also, a week-long schedule has been planned in Hyderabad. K V Anand, Suriya and the rest of the crew will shoot in a film city, where another set is being constructed. The twosome are keen to ensure that this film turns out to be as big a hit as their last one

Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja and Tamil Superstar Surya are pairing up for a bilingual movie soon and the latest buzz in the industry is that this movie will be shot in 3D format. Unlike some of the movies which are shot in Digital format and later converted to 3D, this movie is being planned in such a way that shooting will take place with a 3D camera.

Actor Vijay chose to celebrate the success of Nanban by throwing a grand party on Friday.

Speaking about Nanban Vijay said, ' all credits should go to director Shankar. It was a rare opportunity to work with a filmmaker like Shankar. I enjoyed every moment of it'.

He heaped Harris Jeyaraj for giving wonderful tunes in the film. My fans say it is one of the musically best films in my career, he adds.

An off-beat film sans punch dialogus or stunts was a new to me. But we had faith in the script and director Shankar. Nanban has become the biggest hit of my career so far, he adds.

Akon to smack it in Vijay's 'Thupaki'?

'Thupaki' is indeed becoming bigger with each passing day what with all the big names associated with the film. The latest is that international artist Akon of 'Smack that...' fame will venture into Tamil cinema by crooning a number in Ilayathalapathy Vijay's 'Thupaki'! His earlier offering, 'Chammak Challo...' for SRK's 'Ra.One' set a rage in our country.

It's almost official that Akon will be singing one song in this album and it is said that it will be recorded shortly in Chennai following which the makers will announce it. Suriya-Hari's next begins in March

The film will mark the return of the superhit Singam combination

Contrary to rumours doing the rounds that Suriya's next with director Hari has been shelved, the project is very much on reveals the director. In fact, the team is set to start shooting from the end of March for this an outand-out action film.

After the success of Singam, Suriya will pair up with Anushka again in this flick. Confirming the news, Hari says, "Yes, we will see this lead pair together in my upcoming film. The movie will feature two heroines. We are talking to several leading actresses in Kollywood and Bollywood at this point and should finalize someone shortly."

Another important actor in this film is comedian Santhanam, who is riding a success wave in K-Town currently. "I am working with Santhanam for the first time," says the director.

While some portions will be shot in India, the director has planned to shoot a part of the film in Nigeria and Kenya in Africa. "These will be new locales for the audience," he explains, adding that the songs will be shot in South Africa.

"As far as the movie goes, it will be a novel attempt in Tamil cinema and audiences can expect the unexpected," promises Hari. Devi Sri Prasad has been signed on as the music director so some thumping tracks are sure to be included. An official announcement is expected post Pongal on this Hari-Suriya flick.

On doing Aamir Khan's role in Nanban, Vijay says, 'I had watched 3 Idiots thrice. So, I studiously avoided Aamir’s style and infused a certain body language of my own that worked eventually. But of course, there were a few cute expressions of Aamir’s that I liked and followed exactly'.

Nanban - Movie Review (For the First Time)

The celebration of Sankranthi festival begins today, as Shankar's Nanban, the Tamil version of Bollywood film 3 Idiots, has hit the screens. The much-awaited movie is a package of fun, twists, good songs, story, crisp dialogues, and last but not the least - a serious message that will make the youths to watch it again and again.

The story is being told on a flashback mode by Venkata Ramakrishnan (Srikanth). It all begins with a ragging of Venkata Ramakrishnan (Srikanth) and Sevalkodi Senthil (Jeeva), where they are made to dance with their underwear. Panchavan aka Pappu (Vijay) arrives – not in his usual way where he is welcomed by a great music or background score - in the tale and he too is being targeted by seniors but he escapes through his wit.

Virumandi Sandanam (Sathyaraj) aka Virus, the principal of the college, believes in achieving success through speed and his notion on the education gets shaky after he encounters Panchavan, whose mantra is to follow excellence, not success, as success will come itself with excellence. The latter gains upper hand in their every face off and it also makes Sandanam to hate him more and more.

Panchavan meets Ria (Ileana D'Cruz), the daughter of Virumandi, accidentally and it ends in an amusing way. Their love blossoms after he proves that her beau is not fit for her and her selection is wrong. At this juncture, differences between Panchavan and Sandanam reach the maximum limit but the principal turn helpless, as the former is the topper in the college. The remaining part of the story is - whose philosophy on success is right.

Shankar has made minor changes to the story. In fact, he has not tried to modify too many things, as it could be a sin to play with such a wonderful subject. The only place where we can see him is in the songs and its picturisation. The filmmaker has made the audience to sit for 3.10 hours on their seats without bothering them to look at their watch. From the word start, the tale keeps you engaged till the end through humour, wit and all the entertaining ingredients.

Vijay, like Aamir Khan in 3 Idiots, looks young and energetic. His body language and acting are treat to watch. His friends Srikanth and Jeeva are as good as him. The duo looks replicas of Madhavan and Sharman Joshi! The trio brings a good amount of laughter throughout the movie. Ileana looks gorgeous and whenever she appears, the actress makes the audience to watch her without blinking their eyes. Sathyaraj is excellent and he is the perfect choice for the character. Sathyan shines in each and every frame and he too fits the bill. The rest of the characters including SJ Surya, who has done cameo, have played their part well. Other aspects like dialogues by Shankar and Madhan Karky are hilarious, Manoj Paramahamsa's cinematography is illuminating and Harris Jayaraj's music is wonderful.

One can hardly find out flaws in Nanban because the story does not give you a minute time to find the errors that divert your attention. When the movies are limited to two-hour plus, Nanban amazingly takes you on a long-journey without getting noticed. The film not only entertains but sends out a strong message to the current generation.

Verdict: All is well. It is a Shankar's Sankrathi feast for the audience! Do not hesitate to watch Nanban even if you have seen 3 Idiots.

Suriya, Ravi Theja to team up

It's now confirmed. The sought-after actor of Tamil cinema Suriya and Tollywood star Ravi Theja will come together for a Tamil movie.

Venkat Prabhu has confirmed that hie next venture would feature the two together. Buzz is that the movie would star a popular Bollywood actress in the lead role opposite Suriya. Music is beings cored by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

The shooting will commence once Suriya completes Maatran and Ravi Theja his Telugu commitment.

It would be a comical thriller quite typical to Venkat Prabhu's earlier films, sources say.

KV Anand is a perfectionist and when it comes to his script he leaves no stone unturned to ensure that it is an absolute winner. The director is currently hard at work on the nitty gritty of the script of Matraan which will have Surya in the lead. He is going about it with clinical precision and has set up a storyboard in true Hollywood style to better capture his vision!

He is on the hunt for good artistes who will be able to assist in bringing his story to life. There can be little doubt that this brainchild of his is going to shape up into something good.
