Klippon Connect terminal blocks with Weidmüller SNAP IN technology

To be cost-effective, installation work in control cabinet construction must be carried out speedily, and preferably automated. At the same time, the connections should be permanently reliable, safe and easy to maintain.

The new Klippon Connect terminal blocks with Weidmüller’s SNAP IN technology meet all these requirements, and are easy to use. Stripped fine-stranded conductors just need to be inserted into the connection point, and the connection point snaps shut with a clearly audible click — the conductor is now permanently contacted. To release the connection, users simply need to press the green pusher.

The planning phase is crucial for the success and cost-effectiveness of the entire panel-building process, and requires the intelligent interplay of digital product data and interconnected engineering tools. Efficient, easy wiring is key to installation. Weidmüller’s products stand out in this respect with their intuitive handling and clear design. All terminal functions can be distinguished from each other instantly.

Klippon Connect products feature standardised test points which make automated testing and checking processes possible. In this way, maintenance and testing tasks can be carried out much more safely and quickly.

Modsen Electromagnetic Flowmeter

Electromagnetic flowmeters or magmeters are composed of a transmitter and sensor that together measure flow. The magnetic flowmeter’s sensor is placed inline and measures an induced voltage generated by the fluid as it flows through a pipe.

The principle of Electromagnetic Flowmeter (volumetric flowmeter) is based on Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction. The coils of the flowmeter generate a magnetic field orthogonal to the flow direction. According to Faraday’s law of induction, a conductive liquid passing through the magnetic field induces a current between the two electrodes, which can be used to measure the voltage. The higher the flow velocity, the higher the induced voltage. This voltage signal is converted into a standard signal (eg, 4–20 mA or pulse) by the integrated electronics.

Electromagnetic flowmeters have basic applications for demanding flow and custody transfer (CT) measurements. They have designs and liner materials for various applications — from potable water to extremely adhesive, abrasive or aggressive fluids.

This electromagnetic flowmeter, being the non-intrusive type, can be used in general for any fluid that has a reasonable electrical conductivity greater than 5 μS/cm. Fluids like sand-water slurry, coal powder, slurry, sewage, wood pulp, chemicals, water other than distilled water in large pipelines, hot fluids, high viscous fluids specially in food processing industries, and cryogenic fluids can be metered by the electromagnetic flowmeter.

Modsen Electromagnetic Flowmeters with wafer and flanged versions have a large choice of nominal sizes from DN3 to DN3000.

Slentech DZK humidity and temperature transmitter

The Slentech DZK transmitter has a modular design with high accuracy that is easy to install. The probe and transmitter can be used in any combination, making them suitable for multiple installation situations and applications.

The plug-in probes provide quick and easy exchange with no interruption in the measuring process. Only a single screw is required to close it securely.

The integrated HX processor uses the values for relative humidity and temperature to calculate the dew point, enthalpy, mixing ratio, absolute humidity or wet bulb temperature. Depending on customer preferences, any two of these values can be captured at two analog outputs using standardised signals.

The output variables can be freely configured via the USB port. The transmitter is automatically registered in Windows via the USB cable after connecting to the PC. No drivers are required.

The physical measuring values and analog output scaling can be changed based on the measured sizes of relative humidity and temperature. All temperature values can be displayed in degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius. The sensor is powered via USB for configuration — no power supply unit is required.

A typical application of the DZK series sensor can be for use in a smokehouse, where the sensor features a replaceable probe, making maintenance easy for all staff.

The probe withstands temperatures of up to 125°C, offers IP65 protection with a PTFE-coated filter, is washdown-resistant and includes a 25 m cable for extended reach.

Ragazzini Peristaltic Pump for sludge and slurry

The Ragazzini Peristaltic Pump is suitable for sludge and slurry.

With no mechanical parts in contact with the fluid and no valves or seals to wear, fail or clog, the pumps are easy to maintain.

The pumps use a peristaltic mechanism, where rotating rollers compress a flexible, resilient tube, thus creating a wave-like motion that transfers liquids through the system. Pumped media includes viscous fluids, corrosive fluids, abrasive fluids or fluids with solid particles.

Because they use rollers, the pumps do not require the casing to be filled with lubricating fluid.

Pumps can also be run in reverse to fill or empty, and can run dry without damage.

This versatile pump finds its application across diverse sectors — from food and beverage processing to pharmaceuticals, and from mining to wastewater treatment. It has a gentle pumping action, enabling the handling of shear-sensitive fluids, but it is also heavily constructed for handling solids-laden liquids like sludge and slurry.

The pump’s simple design reduces downtime, requiring minimal maintenance and spare parts. Hoses are easy to change because there is no messy fluid in the pump casing, and no other parts are required for regular maintenance.

Capable of handling abrasive and viscous materials, the pumps are also able to handle large solid particles (to almost half the diameter of the hose).

Using rollers instead of shoes to compress the tubular element not only reduces heat and wear but also reduces the power needed to move the rotor.

The slow-moving nature of the pumps is designed to deliver a precise amount of fluid transferred with each revolution, minimising waste and ensuring consistent quality.

Some hoses available with these pumps have FDA approval and are capable of being cleaned with steam or with hot water and cleaning agents.

Modsen Electromagnetic Flowmeters

A magnetic flow meter provides many merits over traditional flow measurement and instrumentation in a wide range of applications. It takes measurement of conductive liquid, even fluids with particles, such as paper pulp, industry sewage, residential wastewater, milk, juice, aggressive chemical solutions and so on.

An electromagnetic flow meter is made of flow transmitter and flow sensor; it is a kind of volumetric flow meter designed to detect liquid flow rate in a closed pipeline, and has no moving parts inside the mag sensor, so little maintenance work is needed. This mag flow meter can measure dirty liquid even with solids inside, such as slurry, grease and mud, etc. Also, the flow rate measurement is not affected by the liquid properties, such as temperature, viscosity and density.

Modsen mag flowmeters have large turn down ratio (150:1), accuracy (0.5%), size range from DN3-DN3000, transmitters output (4-20 mA or pulse), communication protocols (RS485, Modbus RTU, Hart protocol and Profibus-DP), choice of different liner and electrodes materials, process connection (flange, tri-clamp, insertion type, threaded) and types of flowmeters (remote or integral type).

Electromagnetic flow meters have basic applications to demanding flow and custody transfer (CT) measurements. They have designs and liner materials for various applications — from potable water to extremely adhesive, abrasive or aggressive fluids.

The electromagnetic flow meter, being a non-intrusive type, can be used in general for any fluid which has a reasonable electrical conductivity greater than 5 μS/cm. Fluids like sand water slurry, coal powder, slurry, sewage, wood pulp, chemicals, water other than distilled water in large pipelines, hot fluids, high viscous fluids specially in food processing industries, cryogenic fluids can be metered easily by the electromagnetic flow meter.

EXAIR EFC Electronic Flow Control

EXAIR EFC Electronic Flow Control for compressed air is designed to minimise compressed air use on blowoff, drying, cooling, conveying and static elimination operations. It combines a photoelectric sensor with a timing control that limits compressed air use by turning it off when no part is present. With eight programmable on and off modes, the timing control permits easy tuning to the application requirements.

For most companies, air compressors use more electricity than any other type of equipment and can waste thousands of electricity dollars per year if not properly controlled. By turning on the air only when a part is present, the EFC provides just enough air to complete a specific task or operation, minimising compressed air use and resulting in reduced compressed air costs.

The polycarbonate enclosure of the EFC is suitable for use in a wide range of applications including those located in wet environments. The compact photoelectric sensor has a sensitivity adjustment with the ability to detect objects up to 1 m away. It has good immunity to noise and inductive loads common to industrial environments.

Galltec-Mela VC & VR Humidity and Temperature Sensors

The VC & VR series of Galltec-Mela are rod-shaped compact sensors with high-grade steel housing. These sensors are developed to measure humidity and temperature in a wide range of applications and have been specially developed for use in extreme conditions. They are available with a 1.5 m connecting cable (VC series), without cable (VK series) or with a robust aluminium connecting head and terminal screws (VR series) for measuring relative humidity and temperature in air and other non-aggressive gases.

The advantages of the series .../9 are its improved dynamics, in particular at low air speeds, and also its increased service life, even under more challenging operating conditions (pollutant impact or permanent humidity >95%rh). When air speeds are extremely high combined with a high number of particles, using the series .../9 is not recommended.

The design also makes them suitable for performing equilibrium humidity measurements in bulk materials and in brickwork (only series .../5). Other possible applications include bioenergy and renewables, chemical plants, HVAC and building automation, refrigeration and air conditioning technology, climate chambers, food technology, paper and printing, pharma industry, drying systems, environmental engineering, greenhouses, livestock farming and wine cellars, etc.

ProtectAir ToolReg inline air regulator

When using pneumatic power tools, overpressure is an ever-present concern that can result in financial, performance and, in some cases, health and safety issues. Factories, assembly lines and repair shops require pneumatic tools to perform their various tasks as fast and efficiently as possible. Each pneumatic tool is designed to perform best at a given pressure. Operating the tool at a higher pressure not only reduces the performance but also shortens the possible lifecycle of the tool.

In today’s environment where each cost is micromanaged, compressed air usage is a serious consideration. Compressed air is expensive to generate as there is a lot of energy (electrical and mechanical) involved in producing it. Therefore, it is crucial that compressed air usage is managed correctly.

ProtectAir’s ToolReg is an investment in energy efficiency. It is designed to optimise performance and lengthen the lifespan of the tool, as well as preventing loss of production time due to the damaged tool being out for repairs. The automatic secondary pressure relief releases all the residual pressure in the pneumatic tool to prevent unexpected activation (common in nail guns and staplers).

Factory set to prevent pressure changes, the ToolReg is fully tamper-proof and designed so that only the required pressure is used for each individual pneumatic tool. ToolReg is available in various preset pressures from 2 bar up to 8 bar to suit tools and equipment with ¼″ up to ¾″ compressed air inlet sizes.

Gorman-Rupp EchoStorm static venturi aeration devices

The EchoStorm, by Gorman-Rupp, is a range of static venturi aeration devices installed inline on the discharge side of self-priming pumps to introduce dissolved oxygen into the liquid being pumped. The liquid is moved through the internal nozzle creating a Venturi Effect. Air is drawn into the body of the EchoStorm, which mixes and oxygenates the liquid.

As these units are mounted on the bank (instead of floating on the water or being submerged in it), access is less complicated and safer, while delivering oxygen transfer outcomes. Unlike other methods of aeration, no rowboats, cranes or tethers are needed by operators to access them for monitoring, maintenance or repair.

EchoStorm units are used to reduce BOD, COD and NH3, and also used to control/eliminate algae growth and to strip substances with low Henry’s Constants such as CO2 and VOCs.

The aerator is available in a range of sizes to meet the aeration needs of multiple industries including municipal wastewater treatment, industrial wastewater treatment and potable water treatment.

Cerlic CMC ITL model for the measurement of high solids

Further extending its total solids product portfolio, Cerlic has released a newly developed CMC ITL (insertion type) model for the measurement of high solids (<30% TS).

Adding to its traditional ‘flow through’ models, the CMC ITL will bring built-in self-cleaning to the total solids range, reducing the need for operator intervention and manual cleaning in applications prone to build-up. As with the X-Sensors range of total suspended solids (TSS) sensors, customers can utilise either compressed air or pressurised water for the cleaning process, with no consumables or moving parts.

To simplify maintenance, service and periodical inspections, Cerlic incorporated a ‘hot tap’ mounting option, allowing site to isolate and remove the CMC from the process without having to stop flow or purge the pipe. For most installations this will remove the need for bypass pipework.

Cerlic will also offer a 24 VDC alternative of the CMC, alongside the standard 240 VAC unit.
