McCrometer McPropeller M1104 flow meter and AMS Flow Lab

McCrometer’s McPropeller M1104 is a lightweight, durable and transportable mechanical flow meter that can streamline the measurement process for hydrant applications.

Installation is simple and secure, and the flow meter provides a totaliser flow in gallons per minute without the need for calculation.

Constructed of epoxy-coated carbon steel or even stainless steel, the McPropeller M1104 is suitable for short-term flow measurement projects, featuring carrying handles for easy transportation.

The hydrant meter is accurate despite flow disturbers, up to ±2% of reading thanks to stator vanes located in the inlet of the flow tube generating steady, non-rotational water flow.

Meter reading is simple and available through a mechanical register, digital FlowCom register, or FlowConnect telemetry unit. Pressure readings can be displayed by mounting a pressure gauge in the optional ¼″ or 3/8″ NPT pressure ports.

Electromagnetic flowmeters or magmeters are composed of a transmitter and sensor that together measure flow. The magnetic flowmeter’s sensor is placed inline and measures an induced voltage generated by the fluid as it flows through a pipe.

The principle of Electromagnetic Flowmeter (volumetric flowmeter) is based on Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction. The coils of the flowmeter generate a magnetic field orthogonal to the flow direction. According to Faraday’s law of induction, a conductive liquid passing through the magnetic field induces a current between the two electrodes, which can be used to measure the voltage. The higher the flow velocity, the higher the induced voltage. This voltage signal is converted into a standard signal (eg, 4–20 mA or pulse) by the integrated electronics.

Electromagnetic flowmeters have basic applications for demanding flow and custody transfer (CT) measurements. They have designs and liner materials for various applications — from potable water to extremely adhesive, abrasive or aggressive fluids.

This electromagnetic flowmeter, being the non-intrusive type, can be used in general for any fluid that has a reasonable electrical conductivity greater than 5 μS/cm. Fluids like sand-water slurry, coal powder, slurry, sewage, wood pulp, chemicals, water other than distilled water in large pipelines, hot fluids, high viscous fluids specially in food processing industries, and cryogenic fluids can be metered by the electromagnetic flowmeter.

Slentech DZK humidity and temperature transmitter

The Slentech DZK transmitter has a modular design with high accuracy that is easy to install. The probe and transmitter can be used in any combination, making them suitable for multiple installation situations and applications.

The plug-in probes provide quick and easy exchange with no interruption in the measuring process. Only a single screw is required to close it securely.

The integrated HX processor uses the values for relative humidity and temperature to calculate the dew point, enthalpy, mixing ratio, absolute humidity or wet bulb temperature. Depending on customer preferences, any two of these values can be captured at two analog outputs using standardised signals.

The output variables can be freely configured via the USB port. The transmitter is automatically registered in Windows via the USB cable after connecting to the PC. No drivers are required.

The Galltec+Mela Humidity and Temperature sensors with ATEX certification are suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and areas with combustible dust equipment of category 1G, 1/2G and 2D. The sensors consist of a sensor part with a sintered filter (both made of stainless steel) on a robust die-cast aluminium housing (transmitter part). MELA-humidity/-temperature sensors in this series are used to measure relative humidity and temperature in air, and other non-aggressive gases in explosion hazardous areas and locations with inflammable dust.

Connection to a non-intrinsically safe electric circuit for humidity (F*C3.Ex/8) and for temperature sensors (T*C3.Ex/8) is achieved with a 1-channel transmitter power supply unit, and for the combined humidity and temperature sensors (K*C3.Ex/8) either with a 2-channel or with two 1-channel transmitter power supply units with galvanic isolation between input-/output circuits and power supply.

These IP65 rating humidity/temperature sensors provide two analog outputs of 4–20 mA with the accuracy for humidity ± 2 %RH 5...95 %RH at 10 ...40 °C and temperature ± 0.2K at 23°C. The humidity/temperature sensor is mounted on the wall of the hazardous area with class 1 requirements by using assembly kit ZA 40.

Possible applications for these types of sensors include industries like chemical, drying, pharmaceutical, paper & print, environmental, mining and paint shops, etc.

The HygroFlex HF5A transmitter for the combined measurement of humidity, temperature and dew point has been launched by Rotronic with standard and custom options. The Ragazzini Peristaltic Pump is suitable for sludge and slurry.

With no mechanical parts in contact with the fluid and no valves or seals to wear, fail or clog, the pumps are easy to maintain.

The pumps use a peristaltic mechanism, where rotating rollers compress a flexible, resilient tube, thus creating a wave-like motion that transfers liquids through the system. Pumped media includes viscous fluids, corrosive fluids, abrasive fluids or fluids with solid particles.

A magnetic flow meter provides many merits over traditional flow measurement and instrumentation in a wide range of applications. EXAIR EFC Electronic Flow Control

EXAIR EFC Electronic Flow Control for compressed air is designed to minimise compressed air use on blowoff, drying, cooling, conveying and static elimination operations. Galltec-Mela VC & VR Humidity and Temperature Sensors

The VC & VR series of Galltec-Mela are rod-shaped compact sensors with high-grade steel housing. These sensors are developed to measure humidity and temperature in a wide range of applications and have been specially developed for use in extreme conditions. Gorman-Rupp EchoStorm static venturi aeration devices

The EchoStorm, by Gorman-Rupp, is a range of static venturi aeration devices installed inline on the discharge side of self-priming pumps to introduce dissolved oxygen into the liquid being pumped. The liquid is moved through the internal nozzle creating a Venturi Effect. Air is drawn into the body of the EchoStorm, which mixes and oxygenates the liquid.

As these units are mounted on the bank (instead of floating on the water or being submerged in it), access is less complicated and safer, while delivering oxygen transfer outcomes. Unlike other methods of aeration, no rowboats, cranes or tethers are needed by operators to access them for monitoring, maintenance or repair.

Fluid Components International FS10i Flow Switch/Monitor

The FS10i is a universal flow switch and flow monitor designed for simple insertion into 13 mm or larger diameter pipes and square ducts. The unit is suitable for either liquid or air/gas applications. It is fast responding and highly repeatable to both increasing and decreasing flow rate changes. The standard 1 A relay trip point is easily set in the field for low or high trip point and the trip and reset points can be further tuned with hysteresis and time delay adjustments. Also included standard is a 4–20 mA trending output of the flow rate for connection to ancillary controls or alarm systems. The FS10i includes a 10-LED array which provides both an indication the trip point has been exceeded (LED flashes on/off) and of relative flow rate (10% increments) across the flow range.

AMS Trimec Multipulse Oval series PD flowmeters

The Trimec Multipulse Oval series PD flowmeters are designed to provide a high level of accuracy turndown and repeatability. The precision meters are used for flow rate measurement in flow monitoring and control applications, and for totalising in dispensing and batching.

Cerlic CMC ITL model for the measurement of high solids

Further extending its total solids product portfolio, Cerlic has released a newly developed CMC ITL (insertion type) model for the measurement of high solids (<30% TS).

Adding to its traditional ‘flow through’ models, the CMC ITL will bring built-in self-cleaning to the total solids range, reducing the need for operator intervention and manual cleaning in applications prone to build-up. As with the X-Sensors range of total suspended solids (TSS) sensors, customers can utilise either compressed air or pressurised water for the cleaning process, with no consumables or moving parts.

To simplify maintenance, service and periodical inspections, Cerlic incorporated a ‘hot tap’ mounting option, allowing site to isolate and remove the CMC from the process without having to stop flow or purge the pipe. For most installations this will remove the need for bypass pipework.

Cerlic will also offer a 24 VDC alternative of the CMC, alongside the standard 240 VAC unit.
