FOMO (Fear of Missing Out)

2019-03-26T06:37:00.000-04:00

I had read this article not too long ago. My thoughts exactly.

https://www.businessinsider.com/i-quit-social-media-for-one-month-it-changed-my-life-facebook-instagram-snapchat-twitter-millennial-2018-1

So, it's been about 3 weeks of changing my social media habits. It really hasn't been that hard. I have peeked on Facebook though, and Instagram. I made one post on Facebook. It was a video of the time a person running for the Democratic nomination for President passed through my little town.

Beto O'Rourke passes through Rock Hill, SC

I have found that I am much happier and productive at home and work. Win, win for me! If you think you are spending and wasting your time on Social Media, I highly recommend giving this a try. I believe I will be better for this little experiment. I know that I am not missing out on anything! It's all around me!

My First Time (Trader Joe's)

2019-03-10T15:55:00.001-04:00

I don't get out of my town much. I don't see a need for it. I live in Rock Hill, SC and I love it here. Well, I ventured out of the town limits this Sunday afternoon and had my first experience at Trader Joe's. Let's just say, I will be back! Gina and I were looking for something different to do. We had both talked about going together not too long ago. She had been before. The closest store was only about 30 minutes away. Charlotte, NC. They have 3 stores. We have none.

Priorities

Obviously, the wine and beer selection and prices are great! They had a tasting of 3 wines....we bought all 3. Great assortment of produce, flowers, cheese...etc. I will definitely go back. Just need to pick a different time of the day! Very busy on a Sunday after church. Also, we need one in Rock Hill or Fort Mill!

40 Days Without Social Media

2019-03-10T08:01:00.001-04:00

It is time for a cleanse. The Lenten Season is upon us. During this time I try to either give back or just do better. This year I am giving up Social Media for 40 Days. The reason why, I found myself checking my phone constantly for updates. Also, I saw other people doing the same. It is now Day 5 and it has not been that difficult. Really, the most difficult part about it has been not being able to share stories and photo's of my dog. So, here you go! Isn't he precious!

Loki

Not only have I given up Facebook, but I have also given up Twitter and Instagram. I don't think Instagram is that bad, just sharing photo's and such but it was all or nothing for me! I am trying to give up that habit of constantly checking my phone. Here is another photo I so wanted to share!

Snail in the road

I think I may have an addiction to sharing photo's! At least I have a place to share them. I am not really a blogger but this gives me some type of outlet for my photography addiction. And on that note, here is a video of Loki being Loki!

I am going to try and keep up with this blog. I don't know who will see it, I may have to share it!

A Day Off - Binge Watching, Cleaning and Organizing

2017-09-01T17:43:00.001-04:00

Today I had a day off from work! Not only did I binge watch 10 episodes of The Mindy Project but was able to get I few things done as well. That's about 5 hours of binging. I did take a shower too! Episode 14 of Season 4 got to me! All is good though! What else did I do? I cleaned of course! I also started on one project and got my linen closet organized.

I started on a wreath for Nicks new apartment

I have a very small linen closet. I watched a video on how to roll a

towel spa style and it takes up less room!

All and all an enjoyable day! Except one thing. The anxiety I felt of not being able to help my oldest son out of a jam. He is OK, nothing serious. It is so hard not to jump in the car and not save the day! That is being a mom a guess. Here's to all the mom's who came before me! Especially mine!

First Day of School

2017-08-17T09:16:00.001-04:00

This is the first time in 20 years I do not have a child in school. No back to school shopping, no school supplies, no yelling to get up out of bed and no lunches made in the morning. Also......no 100 sheets of paper and forms coming home that first day! Cherish those moments while you can! You may miss some but not all. What I won't miss is the first day of school traffic!

I am proud to say that Dennis and I have raised 3 really great kids into adults!

I love them all so much and cannot wait until we are all together again!

Pasta Making!

2015-08-06T07:06:00.000-04:00

My son Jack loves Fettuccine Alfredo! Instead of buying it in a box, I made fresh pasta! It was so different then store bought! Unfortunately he does not like homemade sauce. I used jar sauce but the pasta was so good it did not matter! The pasta machine is an Atlas. It was a wedding gift 25 years ago. I need to use it more! Most kitchens will have the ingredients for fresh pasta in their kitchen - all purpose flour and eggs!

Tabbouleh Salad with Quinoa

2015-08-04T19:31:00.000-04:00

I made this salad on Sunday! It is delicious and so easy! I usually use Cous Cous but wanted to try Quinoa. I used the Aldi brand of Quinoa, Simple Nature, and the recipe was on the back of the bag. Here is the recipe!

1 cup Quinoa - cook according to directions. Let chill in the fridge for about an hour.
2 tablespoons of olive oil
2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
Fresh mint
I added fresh diced cucumber, grape tomatoes, kalamata olives and feta cheese. I don't add a specific amount, as much as you like!

Enjoy!

My Version of Bread Pudding

2015-01-27T19:01:00.001-05:00

A couple of months ago a made a pound cake. I put it in two separate bread tins as they were going to be gifts. Needless to say they did not turn out well. It tasted good but fell apart. I was able to salvage half of one as a gift but the rest went in the freezer. I took the chunks of pound cake out this weekend and made bread pudding with it! It was delicious! I just used your basic bread pudding recipe - 4 eggs, some milk, a couple tablespoons of sugar and some cinnamon. I did not put any vanilla in it because the pound cake was already tasty!

Cookie Memories

2014-12-21T08:53:00.001-05:00

Last night we attempted to make cookies! We were able to get two different kinds of cookies made. It was a little crowded but fun! I will finish up on the other cookies today. We started late last night and ran out of time!

Baby Photography

2014-06-30T07:06:00.002-04:00

These are a few shots from my shoot on Sunday. This is my first attempt at photographing babies. I am pleased over all but there is definitely room for improvement. For one thing babies move a lot! I took almost 400 shots and I have 180 good photos to work with. This is the beauty of digital cameras!

This is 3 week old Eli. He was very cooperative! Sweet baby!

Monday Monday

2014-06-23T07:03:00.002-04:00

Some people hate Mondays because it is the end of the weekend and the start of the work week. I say Mondays are a fresh start! I suppose if you really hate your job then you would really hate Mondays. Maybe it is time to find a new job. My weekend consisted of going to the beach for the day on Saturday. I am thankful that I got to do that and my husband drove. It was great to spend so much time with my husband and sons. I also got to see my father, brother and his family and my uncle and his family. I am thankful for the weekend but I am also thankful for my fresh start this Monday.

January 2014 New Beginnings

2014-01-07T14:10:00.000-05:00

As I sit back and reflect on 2013 it is now time to think about what 2014 has in store for us! 2013 was a good year! I finished two semester of school with just one class I need to take to finish my Digital Design Certificate. I really enjoyed school and met some really cool people. My instructor/advisor helped me get a job as an intern in a graphics department at a small business in the town I live in back in March. It has been a great experience and I have learned a lot. I am not sure how much longer I will be able to stay with this company but I have really enjoyed it!

I also had several opportunities to use my photography skills this year! Actual paying jobs! I am hoping to grow the photography business. Social media and word of mouth really do help!

Jack started high school and seems to be doing well! He grew about 2 inches over the summer. Not sure I like that! Nick wasn't sure what he was doing.....I think he finally figured some stuff out though! He is working now and is enrolled at the community college here in town. It is great having him around! He and Jack seem to be getting closer. He has gotten Jack involved with track and field at school. Heather got a dog (Yoda), a job promotion and moved into her 2nd apartment. She seems to be doing well!

Dennis has been working his butt off! He really does not like his job but we need the benefits. I feel like 2014 will be a great year! We are all moving along and upwards! If we could all look at the glass as half full instead of half empty we would have such better attitudes!

Happy New Year!

My Favorite Time of Year!

2013-09-23T07:01:00.000-04:00

It is finally here! Yesterday was the first day of fall! I hope that the weather stays cool. After a summer filled with many days of rain in the beginning and extremely hot at the end I am ready for cool weather. Only problem is our banana trees have fruit on them this year!

I am not sure how they will do! It is kind of weird having leaves fall from the trees and banana's growing!

Final Design Project - The History of Harley Davidson

2013-05-09T15:19:00.001-04:00

This is my final design project for Design I class. I am very pleased with it! The assignment was to create a pictograph in Illustrator depicting the history of transportation. I was going to do the history of riverboats but that wasn't floating my boat! I decided on the history of Harley Davidson instead. I spent a lot of time researching and also teaching myself how to use Illustrator! Someone made the comment that the tire tread with the text in it would make a cool t-shirt! My spring classes are now over! Looking forward to the summer break! I have been going to school 2 days a week and working 3 days a week. It will be nice to have some time off in front of a computer!

Stamp Design Project

2013-04-02T07:07:00.000-04:00

I wasn't sure how much fun I would have in my Design Class but I am having fun! This is my latest project for that class! We had to create a series of four stamps. The stamps should represent something either historical or cultural in American history. I chose the four female supreme court justices. I used photo shop to create this project.
