We have more good news here from Sven land. Following lengthy negotiations, Sven is at last moving to more salubrious premises - and he is understandably very excited about that. Whilst Sven is making the transition, DJ Halloumi will be taking over with a retro set of New Age tunes that will serve to remind us all of Sven Radio's humble beginnings.

It is three years to the day that Sven Radio first began broadcasting our unique blend of downtempo and chilled tunes. So on this our third birthday, all of us here in Svenland would like to thank all of you, our loyal listeners and also to welcome any newcomers to Sven Radio.

We are now getting more than 2000 listener sessions per month from over 80 different countries around the world. These include Iran, Peru and Latvia as well as our more regular listeners in Europe and North America. We're so glad that Sven is reaching even more parts of our beautiful world.

So here's to another three years of happy listening and green futures!

The Jolly Old Rain

I can see the day, but there is no sun. 'And in my cup of corn there is no golden field.'

It is another dull day here in Svenland. I do wish it would brighten up. We are growing our own vegetables, fruit, and herbs, and still I hang back in the wind tunnel with my tomato and aubergine plants at the ready waiting for a sustained period of sunshine. The weather forecasts say little about the sun. "Below seasonal averages" is all you'll get. No sun, no bees, hungry birds, and just the rain falling; the jolly old rain.

Outside the window and down the road, the morning two carriage diesel train to Ashford International goes by. It is a silent Sunday morning and not a soul about. It is a stark and beautiful sunlit morning here in the town of Rye, and so with cheerful heart we shall, here at Sven Radio, be assembling several days of music and sounds that hopefully will bring peace to the troubled breast. But firstly, a sonnet by William Wordsworth:

We have dozens of artists, musicians, Monks, Holy men, Humanists and Atheists in our ranks. We are without prejudice representative of a vast slice of what could only be termed the freedom of humankind. We are here to learn. We seek the truth. So lift up your hearts, and seek the beauty of the sky, both at night and of the day, and remember that you are the centre of the Universe.

It is only by maintaining our vigilance that we can prevent and fight against the encroaching greed of heavy industry that seeks to destroy, and exploit the lands and seas. Seek alternative energy. Use what nature offers do not fight it. Embrace the beauty of the world, and preserve the diversity of the life upon it.

After The Snow

Awoke this morning to snow falling on 'my little town' - All Rye is, is a Tudor rock stuck on the Romney Marshes in the south easterly corner of Sussex. Somebody once described this place has being, 'Four thousand alcoholics, clinging to a rock' I must admit I can't disagree. To others the place is beautiful, and holds a rich and colourful past, which can be traced back to Roman times when, before it was separated from the sea by marsh, the town's original location offered a safe haven in the English Channel.

My dream home

Today, and for the coming 37 days we will be playing the entire collection from Sven Radio's library non-stop. We are doing this in celebration of our two years on air. Two years in which we have seen many changes. Now we are much more settled and understand the direction in which we wish to go. Gone is the jazz, the rock, and the crazy eclectic mixes of bygone years. In its place is the Downtempo, Ambient, Chillout, and New Age music of a new generation. Mixed in with all of this is our beating heart, pumping out good vibrations. We don't care if we get called 'tree-huggers' because a tree produces oxygen, what do you produce?

I cannot make any lists of the artists, musicians, and composers, it would be too long. But needless to say you are all in our thoughts on this grey, snowy, day - and anyway sit back and just enjoy the cool tunes from this great hand-picked collection coming all the way from rural Sussex deep in theheart of 1066 country.

Shadows Over Humanity

We start another year with the same determination we had at the start of the last one, and that is to fight for clean energy. At Sven Radio we do everything we possibly can to promote and support all environmental groups. We endeavour to "open" the minds of the sceptical, the cynics, and those who are "confused." All we want to expose you to is COMMON SENSE, and to show that it is possible for this world we all live in to survive and live on the clean energy provided by the wind, the rivers, the sea, and the harnessed sun.

Our Nemesis, the shadow that falls over us, comes in the form of the many petro-chemical companies who are opposed to clean energy. They are the climate change deniers, the profiteers, the cold, cynical, set of bastards that are destroying our Earth. Look at COAL-TAR SANDS, look at FRACKING and the poisoning of the ground, look at the OIL SPILLS around the world. LOOK! Awareness of what is going on is essential. Developing a political consciousness is another. Added to this is the destruction of the Rain Forests in Central, and South America, Indonesia, and India to name but a few.

Challenge at every verse end those who deny it is taking place. Equip yourself with knowledge - love and peace - and Remember Passive Resistance always. Sven

Well winter is slowly coming back. Slower, wetter, warmer, wilder. The winds lash the coast like never before. Don't get confused with natural phenomena that is part of the cycle of the planet. If we took in account all the natural cycles of the earth, and added them to a computer forecast of the weather to expect, nothing would compare to what is happening now. The world is warmer and it's nothing to do with nature. Climate change of the man-made variety is far outstripping nature. The ecology of the planet, that is the relationships between plants, animals, people, and their environment, and the balances that are needed in order for the earth to cope are becoming unstable. Just stop and think of what is happening around the world weather-wise, and ask yourself why? The singular, biggest problem we have, is ignorance itself. The refusal to seek and understand what is happening out there. So lift your heads up from the trough and start finding out what is going on - try not to get confused with all the claptrap that is being pumped out by vested interests. I guess if I owned a petro-chemical industry, I too would be mastering the art of disinformation. There are answers to the many problems, it just may mean a little more individual reasoning on your part - that surely is not too much to ask?

MEANWHILE! back at the ranch, we have been supplying the music for a party in Greece. Yep! we were asked by a bunch of people in Thessaloniki to up the tempo of our cool tunes system, and dig out some of those updated Ibiza classics from the summer.

It is now approaching six o'clock in that part of the world, whilst here in Sven Land it is 3am, and we have now chilled the tunes all the way down once more, and are back to our gentle, undulating world of New Age, Ambient, and Down Tempo. I'm afraid it's starting already, and we will be interupting our normal service program in order to play some upbeat tunes for followers in Greece. What this means in real terms is that we shall be dancing all night. So if you've tuned in for a quiet, relaxing, time I'm afraid we will have kicked off our shoes and be dancing around in our little, white, cotton, socks.

We at Sven Radio genuinely believe that now is the time for all governments to address the issue of climate change. Otherwise, we shall face a world of weather conditions and "natural" disasters, never seen before in the annals of history. We must think of the coming generations and help stop now the various Right-Wing organisations and corporations that are dead set on doing away with all environmental issues and laws. For example, those that prevent them from exploiting the Tar Sands of Canada are now being challenged by certain parties within that country, who are already negotiating with the Chinese government to sell on this disgusting oil that is much more toxic than any other known substance.

Once in the hands of the Chinese government that will be the end of the matter - there will be no more negotiations from this closed society from then on in - it will spell the end.

Sven Radio Is Going Live

Yes, Sven Radio will be streaming live a selection of fabulous music on the first Monday night of every month, commencing December 3rd between 8pm and 11pm. This will take place in the very attractive town of Rye (pop: 4014) in East Sussex at The Standard Public House in The Mint, and is completely FREE.

All of us in Sven Land are very excited by this new development of going out into the world, and we look forward to seeing you in this ancient pub that in parts dates back to the 15th century. It is a most fitting venue for our rhythmic choices of Ambient, New Age, Chillout, and Downtempo sounds. So come along and enjoy this new venture in the very heart of 1066 country.

All of this week we intend to give a thorough outing to some of the marvellous artists/composers/musicians that we have in the vast Sven Radio library. It is impossible for us to play all of them, and to give you some notion as to the size, if we were to commence playing now it would take until the end March 2013 before you heard every track. We are more than a station playing cool tunes, we are a way of life. In Sven Land we try to promote self-awareness and to develop a consciousness that sees beyond your immediate surroundings. The sun's risen, and already it looks good on the outside.

Waving goodbye to the faint crescent moon, the soft note of the winter light hits my eyes.

October already and no ice in sight - what we need is a Titanic.

Hot noodles at dawn and down to the field to harvest my irregular shaped aubergine, stunted growth, the lack of summer sun, hanging like large, purple, tears upon the stem.

Tomatoes, potatoes, were blighted by the prolonged, warm, rain, that bred the spores in sightless trillions and fell about the land doing what they do best.

I long for the changing seasons of youth, and the unpoisoned, carbon free air of my suburban dream.

We are radiating love for all bees

Listen man let me tell you daddyho, bee decline is a serious threat to global agriculture, because of the insects' vital role in pollination. Both bumble bee and honey bee populations have declined dramatically in recent decades. Although precise figures for insect populations are difficult to project, a UN report said last year that the phenomenon known as Colony Collapse Disorder – the disappearance of worker bees – had become a global problem.

Neonicotonoid pesticides, disrupt the nervous systems of pest insects such as aphids but also affect non-target species such as bees. Large doses can kill bees, and non-lethal amounts affects bees' homing ability, putting colonies at risk of collapse.

At Sven Land we would never use such pesticides. Our land is bee friendly and we are totally opposed to all chemical pollutants and toxins. We are not in the pay of the chemical companies who would rather line their pockets and kill bees, little realising that by killing the bees they are also reducing the crops that need pollination to survive. These greedy, short-sighted ignoramuses, would not be tolerated in the land of Sven, we treasure nature too much to allow a band of filthy pesticide producers to spoil the balance of nature.

Elephant Slaughter In Africa & Asia

It is mainly the slaughter of elephants on the plains of Africa that I am talking about. The use of helicopter gunships by the Uganda military that are flying into the Garamba National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and gunning down scores of elephants just simply for their ivory.

Twenty-two dead elephants with their tusks hacked away were found only last week, many killed by a single shot to the head. Ivory, it seems, is the latest conflict resource in Africa. As much as 70% of the illegal ivory is flowing into China, fuelled by the vast middle-classes that can now afford to buy it, paying as much as $500 per kilogramme on the streets of Beijing. Most are notorious armed groups, including the Lord's Resistance Army, and the Shabab and Darfur's janjaweed who use the tusks to buy weapons and sustain their mayhem. Organised crime syndicates are linking up with them to move ivory around the world, exploiting turbulent states, porous borders and corrupt officials from sub-Saharan Africa to China.

These beautiful and majestic animals are being slaughtered en-mass purely to appease the vanity of a burgeoning middle-class in China. China is the epicentre of demand, and without that demand the killing would all but dry up. All at Sven are shocked, and appalled at this mindless killing. Even in Vietnam, rampant poaching has decimated the elephant herds and this is occurring all across Asia, especially in India and Thailand.

It is a terrible situation - please contact your nearest Chinese Embassy and lodge your complaint.
