I have to admit I am not the worlds biggest football fan, in general I am not a fan of watching any sport. However my family are football crazy and I have been brought up around it, so it’s hard not to follow it somewhat and I have probably seen as many matches as most people who love the sport have.

I go along to pubs with friends and family when there are matches on just to be sociable and spend some time with them.

I was in a local pub at the weekend when Man City took on QPR and I was so glad I was, the atmosphere during stoppage time when Man City started to make their comeback was so intense and infectious that I couldn’t help but be drawn into it. I was jumping and cheering and hollering with every one else, despite usually just sitting in a corner being quiet

I need to tell my football loving friends and family about a website I came across a few days ago at http://www.footballmanager-online.co.uk, as the name suggests it’s an online football game where you take control of the league and play God with teams and players of your choice.

I love interactive games and games where I control things, I have always been hooked on the various Sims games, so for someone that likes the sport football manager online must provide hours and hours of fun. It’s probably a good job I don’t personally plan to start playing as I have precious little free time already what with being obsessed with The Sims Social on Facebook and having a rascal of a puppy to look after.

The game itself is simple to use and nicely designed. They have a free transfer market, offer daily games and have an active community so you can chat with other footy mad mates online.

I wish that it were possible to get an on line tutor when I was at school – but we barely even had computers back then, nevermind the Internet, kids these days don’t know how lucky they are (Oh God, did I really just say that?). It’s not like I am talking about 50+ years ago either, I am only in my early 30s and was still in eduction until I was in my early 20s. If you know me you’ll know I love getting a new mobile phone, but I have stuck with my LG Cookie for a long time now – I wouldn’t be surprised if I had had it over 2 years and that’s eons to me. I used to buy a new one about every 3 – 6 months. I’d sell the older one on ebay to cover the cost (or nearly cover the cost) of the new one so I was never really spending a lot to upgrade so often.

These days of course you can get money for old phonesvia various cell phone recycle sites such as sellcell.com – the premise is pretty simple, you just visit their site and select the phone you’d like to get rid of and it will instantly let you know how much they are willing to pay for it, if you agree with the price send it off in the prepaid envelope they send you and then just sit back and wait for the money to appear in your account. As an added bonus a lot of these types of sites appear on cashback sites where you can get an additional few pounds just for using them.

I’ve sent a few phones to these types of sites but they don’t pay much for the sort of ancient phone I have – I think they offered about £1.50 for my ancient samsung E350 – so it’s best to send more current and desired phones to them as you’ll get a much better price. Aside from the money aspect I also feel a lot better sending older phones in even if you don’t get much for them as I know how toxic to the environment phones that are just thrown away can be.

It’s definitely easier than the hassle of trying to flog them on ebay – by the time they’ve had all their fees and you’ve taken the time to make sure you’ve dodged the many mobile phone scammers on ebay it can be a real hassle to sell them that way.

My parents were having a conversation with my aunt yeterday about hoe expensive glasses are these days, even at so called cheap highstreet places.

I could have sworn I had told them before about places online like Zenni Optical where you can get $6.95 prescription eyeglasses – they would end up needing to spend more than the basic price as they have complicated perscriptions, but they would still be able to get them seriously cheaper than the almost $400 they were quoted in town.

I don’t know why more people don’t order their glasses online. I suppose there’s some comfort in being able to try them on and test them out before you hand over your cash, so you know that they are right for you – but when the savings are so huge for me it’s worth taking the chance. If you get them and they don’t fit just perfectly you can always take them to your local store and get them adjusted for a minimal fee.

Special Valentine’s Day Glasses

I love wearing glasses, I always have done. I wore them from a very early age so I guess I am just used to them – it amazes me how much my parents used to have to pay for glasses when I was younger though, they could easily cost hundreds of pounds on the high street. Unlike now where as long as you know your PD you can order some online for as little as $6.95 from sites like Zenni Optical among others.

What’s great about them being so cheap is that you can buy more – I have several pairs to suit my various moods, what I am wearing or even the season. With valentines day just around the corner now I am thinking of getting some nice Valentine’s Day glasses to add to my collection. I don’t think I will go for any thing too obvious like a heart or flower pattern, but something in pink maybe, despite it being my favourite colour for some reason I don’t already own any pink glasses.

I may even ask my other half to purchase them for me as a gift for valentines day, I’d always rather have something that will last rather than the traditional gifts such as chocolate and flowers.

I always wore glasses growing up – I think I was about 5 when I was told I had a ‘lazy’ eye and had to wear a patch on the good eye in order to try make the lazy one get off it’s butt and work a little harder. I unsurprisingly got teased mercilessly and hated wearing the blasted thing, I was thrilled when they gave up on the patch and just made me wear glasses instead.

I wore them until I was about 20 when I was told I didn’t need them any more as I’d basically given up using my ‘bad’ eye so they were doing nothing for me- that made me sad. I had grown so used to wearing them that it took me a long time to get used to life without.

I often thought about just getting some fashion glasses but even those are still expensive – or that’s what I thought until a few months ago when I came across a site that sells them for as little as $8, now that’s what I call cheap eyeglasses. I first came across the site when I was reading “Living Large in Lean Times” by Clark Howard I snapped up a pair of slinky little black ones with plain lenses and they are great, just as good quality as any I’ve paid £100s for in the passed – they’ve hardly been off my face since I got them

Meet Zack

So what’s been going on in my life since my last update?
Well the main thing is that we got a puppy – he’s an 11 week old male west highland white terrier and he’s adorable, though obviously a lot of hard work. We’ve had him a week now and he doesn’t seem to be ‘getting’ the toilet training at all.

I really hope he’ll be trained by Christmas as we are having guests and no one wants to be sat around opening pressies and eating turkey only to see and smell a puppy doing his business nearby.

I can’t believe Christmas is already less than two months away, I have already bought a few Christmas Gifts for people and usually I refuse to even start looking until December 1st.
