Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies with Pecans

I had my husband in mind while I was working on these cookies. He almost always prefers savory treats over sweet ones. The hint of salt and toasted pecans make these cookies perfect for him. My mouth full of sweet teeth enthusiastically approved as well. Each cookie is just savory enough and just sweet enough to be a crowd pleaser. As the weather is getting cooler, I’m looking forward to warming up with my husband, a mug full of hot chocolate and an oatmeal chocolate chip pecan cookie…maybe two.

These fuzzy guys inspire me. My husband, Jebb, supports me and believes in me when I’m running low on faith in myself. He has shown me what’s truly important in life, and I’m lucky to have him by my side. And Albert (Colonel Albert Mustard Graff, to be exact) is constantly trying to remind me to relax and take time for the little things…mainly the little four-legged purring furry things.

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband, Jebb! He requested strawberry cupcakes with homemade cream cheese frosting, decorated in ways loosely based on a nautical theme. Hence the sapphire blue, cream and blue-green color scheme. Sapphire also happens to be his birthstone, so I presented him with a few edible jewels.

Butterflies & Flowers | Birthday Cupcakes

My husband and I have been fortunate enough to be part of Baby T’s first year, and I was honored to provide these cupcakes for her first birthday party. The butterflies and flowers were made of royal icing and sat atop a mixture of devil’s food and butter cake cupcakes.

Key Lime Cupcakes

I recently found a recipe for key lime poundcake and knew that I had to try it. My only problem was that I didn’t have the bundt cake pan that was called for in the recipe. I was thinking that I would do smaller poundcake loaves when my husband suggested that I use the recipe to make cupcakes instead. Genius! With a few tweaks to the recipe, I had key lime cupcakes – each coated with a sweet and zesty key lime glaze.

Clocks & Gears | Birthday Cupcakes

You don’t have to know M. for long before it becomes obvious that he’s fascinated by both clocks and gears. That’s why it didn’t take long at all to come up with the idea for these cupcakes for his birthday party. The cupcakes were devil’s food with vanilla frosting. Royal icing gears were placed on top of the inner cupcakes while the outer cupcakes were frosted, rolled in nonpareils and numbered like the face of a clock.
