Growing up my standard was Vivian Leigh. I can’t tell you how many times I watched Gone with the Wind just to see Scarlett shrouded in all her glamour, charm, and southern magnificence. I quickly learned that using Vivian Leigh as the gold standard to measure the beauty of not only me but of others was not very practical. Thankfully, we grow and through the years my definition of beauty evolved.  While the beauties of Hollywood still influenced my definition I also grew to understand that beauty is also who we are inside. I felt confident that I had a solid understanding of what it means to be beautiful when I embarked on my new journey into the field of esthetics.

Seven months ago I opened the doors to Sweet Cheeks Skin Care excited to share my knowledge, help people feel good about themselves, and hopefully improve their skin thus enhancing their outer beauty. What I didn’t expect was that yet again my standard by which I defined beauty was about to change. When I had the privilege to place my hands on my first client’s face I knew that my idea of beauty was forever changed. Here is what I have discovered…

  • We are all miracles and if people would just take the time to really look they would see what I see.
  • I see and feel people’s lives etched within their faces; their joys, sorrows, hopes, and dreams.
  • I wish that people could see themselves how I see them….perfect in who they are. Each person’s unique life story is what makes them beautiful.
  • Beauty isn’t about being flawless it’s about gracefully accepting our flaws and perfections. It’s about what we have been given and sharing who we are with others. Being beautiful is more about being healthy and happy than looking like Scarlet O’Hara.
  • The true beauty of a woman is in her essence, and I have been blessed by each person who has come to Sweet Cheeks for they leave behind a bit of their beauty and a slice of their essence.
