I sure hope my learning curve for this type of social media picks up.  Thanks to those who have helped me piece my way this far.  I’m especially looking forward to the memoir section I’m putting in place…there are so many great memories I’d love to share with you before they get too dim in my older age.  A lot of those memories will be a shared laugh at myself.

Why the title, Sweet Corn?  Ahhhh, home.  It’s been a long time since I’ve spent extensive time in my home state of Nebraska.  And nothing takes me home faster than enjoying multiple (and I mean, multiple) ears of fresh sweet corn.

I haven’t always appreciated the “good life” that I had growing up…in fact, I couldn’t wait to flee.  And as I left the Cornhusker State at the age of 21, traveling east toward the big city of Chicago on Interstate 80, crossing the Missouri River, I can still vividly picture the large green sign welcoming those going the opposite direction to “Nebraska – The Good Life.”  And I specifically recall my thoughts, “Finally, I’m out of here; good riddance!”

My opinion is much different today.  Of course the thoughts and feelings I expressed then weren’t at all about Nebraska, they were all about me.
