Organized Sewing Kit Story

Once upon time we had a sewing kit which looked like this...

Does This look like a messy box that we no longer use? In fact , The sewing kit was full of jam-packed sewing tools and I wasn't able to find anything in there. In exact words I couldn't even close the lid :D .

A pile of unfixed garments that grew up by time just because I didn't have any appetite to use that sewing kit was a good reason to organize that sewing kit box. I couldn't find anything in there. All the threads are all over each other and it wasn't very easy to get anything from that box.

When it comes to organize small things, it feels so exciting. It is the most excited challenge for me. We say "No more shuffling inside boxes". So I like organizing details, enhance and enhance till we get things done as easy as possible to find, grab and return back. Every tool in the box was packed with not pretty packages. So First I unpacked all the sewing tools and get rid of any unneeded packages.

Then I sorted and categorized them all. Threads are grouped together, needles together , pins and zippers and so on. I like to collect buttons from any damaged garments before we get rid of them. So we have a good collection ready here for any reuses or up-cycling.

It's time to contain the sewing tools. I saw beautiful sewing kits organized out there.. It feels a little bit jealous how cute organizing bloggers get beautiful clear boxes to organize sewing tools. I don't have that much of sewing tools and I also have a budget that can never be forgotten. So I got these cute little plastic pouches from local stationary.

They were super cheap and they perfectly matches my needs and the groups I had created. Each group now has a pouch. Each pouch is zip-locked and it is clear so I can see everything clearly.

It is also so important to take care of those extra spare buttons that come with garments. I always like to label them so I can know which button is for which garment. All the spare buttons also have one plastic pouch.

Finally, we have a real sewing kit that looks really cute, organized and easy to use. I can easily find everything and everything has a home.

Time to label our beautiful box. Simply by Microsoft Word the label was designed and the box is labeled now.

The sewing kit box now is staying in our dressing room. with this cute label. All family members can find and use it. I hope you loved our sewing kit box story. Tell us your story too.

Essential car care caddy

Since we love our beautiful - small family size - car , we like always to take care of it whenever we have time for that. We used to take it to the car wash stations whenever we feel it a little dusty or needs to be cleaned and washed. Buutttttt after having a little funny toddler setting in the car with all of these snacks and crackers we had to care about it a little bit more than before.

We like to wipe the dashboard , vacuum the floor and clean some stains on the seats from a time to time. And because my husband does a lot of driving in the morning and in the evening everyday, and because we go out sometimes in the holidays , a car care products and essentials caddy became a must.

So I thought about making a small beautiful caddy for our car. I added the following products to the caddy in order to be handy in the car care time.

1 - Tissue papers box.
2 - Car seats stain removals.
3 - Soft car rag.
4 - Dashboard wipes.
5 - Hand sanitizer.
6 - Hand wipes.

7 - Car freshener.

Because our stores don't sell big caddies as far as I know, I chose this Cheapy plastic basket to do the job. It fits everything in there and it is cheap and sturdy.

Our car seats usually receive big and small stains of baby foods' spills , juice or snacks. So the removals are so helpful to remove them in 5 minutes or less. I also choose these soft rags which are made specially for cars because we don't want to give our dashboard a bath scrub when we aimed to clean it :D. I swap the rag whenever I feel it is so dusty with a clean one and wash the old one and I change it completely when I feel it is started to be rough. Dashboard wipes are also so helpful in the situation we have a stain (Like a stain) on the car dashboard.

I also picked some essentials for all of us when we are on the road. When my toddler makes some mess in his face I absolutely need a tissue paper to handle that especially when he gets flu. Tissue paper box is handy in whatever issue is and whenever I need it I find it easily in the caddy or in the center of the car.

In a place where the water and the soap (and the sink :)) are lack, hand sanitizer is the best solution when we have greasy or sticky hands. I also need them after changing diapers for my toddler in the car. They are also so handy when we touch something dirty or full of germs.

I put this caddy on the floor under the seat beside the driver. It is reachable for the driver and the one who sets beside. I will publish about our car organizing very soon. An organized craft supplies area

Our craft section in the office room was occupying an Ikea BILLY bookcase in our office room. Last year I wasn't so excellent enough in taking photos and the DIYs were not so perfect from my point of view and now the craft area is a little empty and it has been put in hold for a while as we have a nice toddler running around and when it comes to a jewellery maker craft storage ... This is absolutely dangerous for my toddler.

But I still like to show you the photos of how craft area was last year because I still remember how it was so fun to organize such area. I am so into organizing craft supplies. I love the challenge organizing small things especially when they are so small, so pretty and so colourful. So let's take a look

The coroche covered plastic containers I shared last year were perfect storage solution for beads we buy in bulk. They were of my favourite DIY projects I did. They are so colourful and look so tidy.

Some of the other beads small containers were displayed in stair shelving that I DIY last year , some were kept in the secret storage of the stairs and some are kept in their original boxes.

The ribbons were working perfectly with the kabob's sticks. They were so colourful and looked so beautiful in there.

I love to make fun crafts and origami shapes with origami papers so I just divided some shoes cupboard boxes and sort my origami papers by colour.

We are willing to add Ikea BILLY doors for the bookcase and looking forward to reactivate the area, so in the mean time I wanted to show you how it was before we get into another organizing project.

DIY diaper changing organizer

One of my favourite projects that really work for years now is my toddler DIY changing diaper organizer. I know I have shared it before but I thought also of making an update as some changes occurred. My toddler grew up a little and he no longer sticks in a place so some habits and activities changed. Another reason is because I didn't share an exact tutorial of how to make it. So here we are.

I have been using the DIY diaper organizer for couple of years now and I have to say it was and it is still functional. It holds all the products and essentials I need to change my toddler diaper or after taking a fun bath.

I still put his changing mat, baby cream, baby oil and baby powder in there. Because my toddler is no longer playing on his bed, I removed the toys and make more room for diaper and products. However, the organizer is effective when it comes to change diaper before he goes to bed and after he wakes up.

It was so easy DIYing this beautiful organizer. I needed 3.5 m of a beautiful patterned fabric and 1.5 m of sponge sheet.

Starting with 2.5 m x 0.5 m of fabric, I made the basic body of the organizer. I cut 1.25 m x 0.5 m of sponge sheet and pinned it to the back side of the fabric, fold the fabric in a half, fold the edges and sewed them.

Easy done with the basic body. It's time for the pockets. I needed two pieces of 80 cm x 45 cm with 40 cm x 45 cm of sponge sheet. The same as I did to the body I pinned the sponge sheet to the top back side of the fabric, fold the lower half of fabric to the upper one which has the sponge and sewed the upper edge. I attached the pocket to the main body and sewed the edges after folding them. Then I sewed the centre of the pocket to divide it into two and repeated the steps for the other pockets. This shouldn't be perfect. It is better to feel the mammy home made DIY organizer.

Last but not least I sewed the upper edge of the body and pinned the the organizer in the bed to be hanged and ready for use.

Organizing shoes

In our entryway we have an Ikea BISSA shoes organizer. As a reason we used to have an empty entryway for a couple of years, we decided to buy some pieces of furniture to be pretty and also functional in the entryway, so we decided to buy this pretty shoes organizer as one of those pieces to store our daily worn shoes.

It was kind of organized at the beginning but a while later it started to become messy and jam-packed with flip-flops and shoes. It is a little bit of a shame to show you how it looked before.

To be honest, I don't take care of my shoes enough. Maybe because I don't' go out that much but I keep wearing them until they get a little old and dusty then switch to new pairs. I know how awful this is specially for one who lives in a little bit of dusty atmosphere in Summer like me, but this will be solved someday.

Our shoes storage has three cabinets. We are three in the house so this is convenient. One cabinet for each one of us would be a good solution. You may noticed how the lower cabinet was really messy. My toddler keeps playing around and opens lower cabinets a lot. However it is still a good solution to put his shoes in there because it is very easy for him to get his pair of shoes when I ask him to bring it to go for "bye".

First thing I did to organize our shoes storage is to take off everything in there and make the whole cabinets empty to be ready for clean.

Next, I wiped down the cabinets with a dry rag then with wet one and finally I gave them a shiny look with furniture care detergent.

I wanted to add cabinets protector on the internal face of the cabinet doors to protect the wood from dust and high heels' scratches, but those white places made for screws preventing a properly set-up for the protector. I could just cut some corners and some squares in the protector to avoid the screws without taking off the cabinet door. But do we accept the good quality here or are we seeking for professionalism and taking a little bit of challenge?

I decided to put the cabinet protector the hard way. First I got the screw driver and took off the cabinet doors.

Did I make it? Sometimes we really need to trust our abilities right?

It was the time to add the protector. I measured, made signs with a pen and cut.

Moving to the fun part. I liked to punch holes in the protector for the screws. I marked the places of the screws over the protector.

The easiest way to punch for me is to take off the lower lid of the puncher and turn the puncher upside down. I can easily see the marks I did that way.

To add the protector. I just added some double sided tape on the upper edges of the door. I don't want any harm for the wood so the edges were enough. I didn't need any tape in lower edges because the screws will hold the protector in place and also because the lower edges are not that touchable, unlike the top which need to be held when opening the cabinet.

I cut out the remains of the tape following the edges of the door.

Then carefully added the protector sheet and hold in place.

It was the time to put the doors back. I have to admit it was not easy to hold the door with one hand and the screw driver with the other. I recommend get someone to help or something to keep the doors up for you.

This is the result. I really liked the colors. So shiny and pretty.

Back to the shoes. I purged all of them. However each cabinet can carry four pairs which are more than enough for each of us beside the entry door. Rarely worn shoes are kept away in the dressing room. The flip-flops are also kept away. So what we only wear on a daily bases are kept in the organizer.

A simple mail center

The simplicity of a project is very important to keep it usable and functional. In our house entryway, we have a very simple mail system. Beside the shoes storage we added two simple magazines' racks. I decided to specify them to manage and organize all papers that come in and out our home in the mean time before they get filed.

We have a black shoes storage. I found these magazines' rack in an office supplies shop. Each one costs 100 EGP which are 13$. I wish I had them in black but I couldn't find them in colours. I solved the problem by purchasing some black files and put them inside the clear organizers. They look now more fantastic than I thought. Each one of these two racks is divided into two pockets. I aimed to keep the mail center as simple as possible to be easy for all family members to use. So four sections for the whole system are more than enough for me to sort papers.

The first two pockets are holding all papers that come in and out of the home. Inbox for incoming mail and Outbox for outgoing one. Paying bills as soon as possible and checking the mail daily are excellent tips for keeping your papers organized. So these two categories are so helpful when I feel lazy to sort the mail in more details or when I am in a hurry. When I get the mail, the whole papers are kept in the inbox section till the time they get sorted. The Outbox section holds the papers that need to go somewhere out of the house.

The other two pockets are used when I have some time to sort the mail. "To File" is the pocket where I put any papers that need to be filed in the office room or in my receipts file. Any papers I want to keep like paid bills or bank statements are kept in there.

Any bills need to be paid, paper that needs an action to call, to reserve or to ask for more details are all kept in the "To Process" pocket. It also holds any papers I want to take look at like catalogues or invitations. Any other unneeded papers are thrown away in the trash can after blacking out some sensitive information.

Organized receipts and home papers

One of my favourite small,quick and easy organizing projects I have done through the latest months, is organizing receipts and home papers. We used to keep all long term receipts in addition to some helpful information papers like flyers and menus to be available when we need them.

We keep all receipts and home papers in a letter-size accordion file. It is available in any office supplies shop and it is not expensive . I like this size of the accordion file because it fits all those small papers and receipts and flyers we receive from nearby shops. Instead of losing them in all round the house, we keep them their for later use when we need.

I specified a tab for each category. We keep gas and electricity bills, house rent invoices, phone receipts, DSL receipts for later information needed. Each of them in the right tab specified for it. When we have full 12 or more receipts for category for a year, the whole 12 receipts are saved and stored in white letter envelope. So the first pocket of the file is defentely holding some empty envelopes.

I also like to keep menus we receive from the nearby restaurants in the menus tab. They are so handy when we are dying for a pizza. Any flyers attached to products we buy that had more information and details about the company or the product are kept in the flyers tab. Shops tab holds all the flyers we get from the nearby shops that sell products unlike the services tab that holds flyers we receive from shops that provide services like care wash, dry clean or gem.

In order not to miss any coupon when we go shopping, I keep all our valid coupons in one of the tabs specified for them. This lovely file is also helpful to organize invitations, work out schedules, courses or newspapers' and magazines' subscriptions. Entryway is the place I chose to put the file in. I put it close to the mail centre to be available when we go out for coupons and also for easy receipts filing. I got my label papers and printed out a very nice label on the front of the file.

I think it's time to talk again about laundry a little bit. I feel I did nothing in my day if I still have laundry piles in our laundry hamper. I like to divide laundry to white light dark and delicate. It's all about the laundry you have in the hamper. Right?

But there's something we all have to care about before doing laundry . Yes, you're right . Those mysterious labels in the back of the laundry pieces. In the past it was easier for me to try a little wash or some detergent to the piece of clothes rather than searching about the meaning of their labels on the internet.

A handy kitchen cart

Choosing to have a handy cart was one of good solutions to maximize space in our little small kitchen. I believe that the kitchen cart must be functional enough to help you when you are cooking a tasty dinner.

In the past my kitchen cart was full of grocery plastic bags and some clutters. It was a shame to have pictures that time. In fact, I wasn't expecting it to turned out beautifully like that .

So, I am so excited to share my kitchen cart I tackled a few weeks ago. I aimed to make it handy for me while cooking, and because I am dying for more little work space in the kitchen, the cart is sooo thankful to hold my cooking tools I use everyday rather than having them on my counter top.

In addition to put my cooking tools I use on a daily basis, I loved to make it decorative and have a little of my touch. You may noticed I attached a tray to act as a shelf there and it so shiny and looks fabulous.

The cart is taking a place beside my kitchen lower cabinets and it is exactly facing the stove. So I decided to put my cute utensils' jars I shared last week on top. They help me to get things done as quickly as possible.

I am dividing my utensils into three categories (prepare, cook and serve). Each jar is specified to category. I also added my kitchen towels that I use in holding hot pots and trays or to dry some dishes.

I love to keep my kitchen hand towels in reach. So for me, this is the best place to keep them on hand. I used a small tray holding them. I also have our tangy juice and a beautiful flower wooden jar to add a decoration to my kitchen cart.

Last but not least. I added extra kitchen towels In the bottom in case I am running out of the towels on the roll above.

Tasty meal in 10 min

Baking is one of my fun challenges I really love, specially when it is in the very early weekend morning. I love the smell , the atmosphere and the warmness coming from the oven. It feels so family time. Right?

This beautiful pastry took only 10 minutes to prepare.

The secret of this pastry depends on a fact. The more liquid dough you make , the more active yeast you have. So the half of the flour amount has to be added to the full amount of the water with the yeast and sugar as a start. Then leave the yeast to work with the sugar for 10 minutes before shaping the dough.

Ingredients

This amount is enough to make couple of braids.

2 1/2 cups of baking pastry flour.
1 cup of warm water.
10 gm or 1tbsp of dry yeast .
1/4 cup of oil or butter.
1/4 cup of sugar.

How to do it

1 - Add the half of the flour amount ( 1 1/4 in this case ) with the whole amount of water (1 cup) in a big bawl with the yeast and the sugar and mix very well.

2 - Leave the mix for 10 minutes in a dark and warm place.

4 - After that, add the oil or the butter and the other half of the flour amount and mix until you get non sticky dough. This may require a little bunch flour or a couple millimetres of water according to the flour you use. Don't worry if your dough sticks a little bit.

5 - Turn on your oven to 180-200 degree.

6 - divide the dough into two parts. Take each part and divide it into three medium tubes and create a braid. Attach the end of the braid with the start of it. Put it in a baking tray.

7 - This is optional step. If you want the dough to have more and more size. Turn off the oven and leave your first braid into it to enlarge while you are preparing the other braid.

8 - Bake in 180-200 degree for 15 minutes for each braid.

9 - Turn the top of the oven on to create the brown top. You don't have to add egg or coffee or anything.

This beautiful pastry called "Shoreek" in Egypt. It is great as a breakfast or dinner. You can see how cottony and fluffy it is from the inside.

Organizing medicine

Our beautiful bathroom has a very small medicine cabinet, so I keep all our medicines and vitamins in a home care area we established couple of months ago. It is really a fantastic feel having all medication in one place. Easy find, easy grab and easy put away.

In addition to my toddler medication, we keep our vitamins, first aid, medicines and some medical tools. I decided to keep our toddler medication in his closet as a trick to avoid jam-packed stuff in one area.

In order to organize our medicines, the first step should be purging all expired stuff or medicines that will not be used again like surgery or pregnancy medications. Then I started to categorize them according to the reasons. When I have a pain in muscles I am not sure if I have a bill, spray or gel as a pain killer for it. So categorizing medicines according to type is not working for me.

For this easy cute medication system, I chose easy system for less used stuff, easier one for more used stuff and the easiest for the most used. I purchased these boxes in an inexpensive price. I put the digestive and flu medicines on top because we use them more. Other medicines and extra vitamins in the bottom.

I love drawers for easier access, so they are convenient for more used medicines. Pain killer and first aid need to have easy home and because we use the muscles and bones medicines the most, I chose to put them in drawer as well.

Everyday vitamins and medicines are kept on the very top section in the drawer box for the easiest reach. Courses medicines - like antibiotic in case of flu- are kept there in order not to miss them.

Tools that we use during medication are also kept in one of the drawers. Syringes, fever patches and thermometers are all in there.

Organizing kitchen utensils

Although I do not have that much of kitchen utensils, they were jam packed inside the kitchen drawer. It was hard to find one of them in there without getting a little hurt because of a gadget somewhere in the drawer.

They had unknown place with the other kitchen tools in the drawer until I found those cute holders for kitchen utensils in "Carrefour". They were pretty cheap and really useful for my everyday use utensils.

They act as a very convenient home for the kitchen utensils that I use everyday. What is also nice about these holders that they can be hanged next to the stove or working table.

First of all purging is a must for utensils specially when they are duplicated or some of them are out of use for a long time.

Categorizing them was the next step, I was thinking about ( bake , cook , serve ) way to organize my utensils. But since I am not baking too much and I use only one whisk for only cooking sauces, I was thinking about preparing, cooking and serving food as categories. So I got my label papers and printed out some elegant labels to decorate the cups and add more functionality to them.

The prepare cup holds all the utensils I use in preparing food. Silicon brush , spatulas, strainer, vegetable peeler , lemon squeezer, meat cutting knife and also kitchen scissors. I suggest also any utensils used in preparing, cutting and cleaning food such as fish peeler or potato masher. In cook cup there are whisks, draining spoon and tongs. Last but not least in serve cup there are cake and pizza serving spoons and ladles. I also have a place there for spaghetti serving spoon and ice cream spoon .

Happy Easter + Back again

It has been a long time since I released my last post. I really missed my few beautiful readers and I missed blogging so much. It was a hard way to go through to be able to back in blogging. I was making some changes in house and redesigning some of stuff places. I just needed some time to get myself organized with bunch of challenges I am living with around my home. You will excuse me if I said that I have no pantry. No coat closet. No linen closet. No laundry room. No basement or garage. I have smallest kitchen ever. I live in two bathrooms and one kitchen house with no closed cabinets under any sink. I know I can get some extra furniture and wardrobes and add some storages everywhere but as you know, we are renting the house and moving into smaller house is an option and I like to be sure I will not end up with throwing away some furniture plus I like the challenges and problem solving. So I am so excited about coming back and share all my solutions I came up with in the upcoming posts.

you also may noticed that www.sweetntidy.blogspot.com is changed into www.sweetntidy.com. Yes, I made some changes to our blog and I am looking forward a cleaner and neater look for its pages. Also looking forward improving my writing and photographing skills.

It's Easter time. I hope these beautiful Easter eggs give a good reason to forgive me for this long time of absence. And I will take the chance to say Happy Easter for you and please enjoy the beautiful weather as much as you can.

In Easter and some special events, I like to show up my talent in decorating and DIYing. Easter is a good chance for playing with colors. I tried as much as I can to break the eggs as cleaner as possible with keeping the egg shape at the same time. It took some time but it worth it.

I also chose my son little basket he plays with to act as a home of my Easter eggs. Speaking about colors and fragile eggs, if you have toddlers do not try this at home :D :D. There were some accidents but they finally went fine. Maybe I should apology for taking his beautiful handmade basket.

I used bright colors and tried some beautiful shapes and flowers. Wasn't so hesitated to use some black. It gives awesome contrasts. also cutting some light brown scrap papers was a good idea to fill in the bottom of the basket to give that kind of nest look. I loved how they become and they are ready to decorate my home.

For me I liked not to make the shapes so perfect and show a little hand drawing and avoiding so sharp and harsh lines and shapes. I like it that way because it shows up the DIY atmosphere and home warmness a little, right?

Using some color markers would be great also for drawing some shapes and flower. For me I used water colors and it turned out so beautifully also with the paint brush.

You know how much this saves space, right?. It is useful for small closets and limited spaces. I wish I could buy too many, but why I have to buy when I already have a free one in my home? I just inspired the idea and it's all done. I couldn't believe I have it.

Anyone can do it with no time . It's super easy and inexpensive. Do you you know the hangers we used to hang behind doors? those which you find everywhere in dollar store ? Just check this out.

This is the normal hanger. With S-shape hooks I hang it to the closet stick.

The hanger already is divided like a chain.I hanged a cloth hanger in each section.

So this is the normal state for the magic hanger. To maximize the space . Just remove one S-shape hook and you are done. Are you ready?

Tadaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa .

All the shirts now are hanging vertically . I love the way it turns.

You can see now. The shirts take no much space . No screws . No drill . No even glue and DIY complicated steps. Just S- shape hook and regular door hanger. you are done. Congratulation for the new magic hanger you freely have.

It's the "Back to school" time. We all are excited. I hope all your children are. I know some are not excited at all for backing sandwiches, wake up in the very early morning and study everyday making homework. But we have to live with that :D. The festival of doughs

Three days ago, we said goodbye to Ramadan. We were sad because all the special treats in Ramadan have gone. We will miss Ramadan so much with all of its special things we used to do in Ramadan especially eating the breakfast everyday together with family. We will miss making worships in Masjids, Mesaharati, Ramadan lamp, Ramadan sound, Amar Eddin , Tamarind. Konafa and Atayef.

We also said welcome to feast . It's "Eid Al - Fitr". This is like a reward for the worshiper for his faith and his fast. As we like to prepare for Ramadan , we also like to prepare for Eid. We buy new clothes and make some outing programs. Also we make some kinds of cakes like cookies, Pettifor and biscuits. All family girls gather in the family house and start make and bake cookies and Pettifor.

You can imagine the amount of doughs we make for family.

The doughs are very soft and we all have fun playing with them and put them in the biscuit machine.

Ummm . Ok This looks soooo hand made :D . We like it also . Anyway they will look good in the oven.

This was Ghorayeba. It is a melt-in-mouth cookies in Egyptian style. I love it . I think I ate 1 kilo of this? If you like me to share the recipe please leave a comment below.

Things to care about when you are doing laundry

Today I will share things you have to take care about when you are doing your laundry because I noticed some popular problems when wives make laundry.

For example when you have a shirt that you hand washed, it will be full of water. If you hang it with clothespins as shown in the wrong section the pins will create creases in the shoulders of the shirt because it was heavy and full of water when you hanged it. To avoid this leave it horizontally on a table or an internal rag until it dries.

Also if you a have cotton shirt, don't hang it from bottom as shown in the wrong part above, because it will end up with damaged shape. Cotton is easy to stretch when it is wet so be-careful. To avoid this fold it into half and hang it from under sleeves like shown.

When you have a dress that has lots of buttons and accessories it's better for you to turn it inside out because if you don't you may find all the buttons and accessories in the washing machine.

Some bad clothespins made of iron make some rug stain on the clothes when they are wet. Be-careful and use the plastic pins.

How to organize origami papers

As I said before I am so crafty person . I like crafts so much . I have too many origami papers which I use to make very beautiful origami shapes. All what I did to organize them is to get a shoe cardboard box and covered it with contact papers and made cardboard dividers for it.

Here is how to do it

I cut 3 pieces of cardboard W x H and two pieces D x H. In equal spaces I cut H/2 stripes inside the cardboard pieces to make room for the mutual cardboard pieces to in like a mesh. It now fits all my origami papers . Also my folded origami pieces .

A quick tip . If you have small pieces of origami papers remained from your projects just group them with elastics or rubber bands.

And this is how I organize my origami papers. I also grouped them by colors to make it easier to use.

How to make Tamarind juice

Today I will show you how to make Tamarind. Tamarind is a very famous drink in Egypt specially in Ramadan. We drink it after or before "Iftar".

It is fresh and tangy . We love to drink it after fasting . It gives energy and power and makes you feel sooo fresh.

This is the Tamarind . You will find it packaged and squeezed like this. Just cut the amount you want into pieces.

Soak into water in the fridge over the night. The longer you leave it the richer flavor you will get .

This is after soaking for the night long. You will find the water turned into the tamarind color .

Filtrate it into colander. Oh yes I love this thing. This bowl is so easy to soak and filter also for washing fruits and veggies.

Taste it. It suppose to be sour if it is the right description . You can add water if you find the flavor too much rich. Add sugar as desired. You are done.

What makes you hate laundry

Laundry means a pile for everybody. I have to say the truth. Like most of us, I hate laundry. I used to have a pile of laundry all the time. I always have the same problem with my baby that he has nothing to wear after all his clothes dropped in laundry basket screaming for wash. I have to spend two or three days getting rid of laundry pile every week with hard working washing machine and no extra space to hang out the wet clothes.

I live in a good weather environment. Dryer for us is an accessory that we will never think of when we buy home machines because we already have a good, hot and shiny weather to dry clothes . The washing machine already rinse the clothes up to 70% dryness or more. We hang the 70% wet clothes in balcony for fresh air and shiny sunlight killing germs. Sounds good, but I still hated the laundry. Before I go to my problem let me think about what makes most of women hate laundry and have pile of it.

Bad weather

If you have a bad weather in your environment, it means that you will not make your laundry for today. This is an easy solved problem by finding a room in your home that has a good amount of natural light and with internal rack you are done.

Too lazy

I have to stop here to think about the reasons make you feel lazy about the laundry like :

Long process

We all think that laundry takes forever to be done. Very long process to be run. drop clothes in laundry basket, divide them, check pockets, wash them, dry them if you have dryer, hang them, collect them, fold them, iron them and put them in closet, them, them them ... lol . Sounds too many steps with them. This frustrates you as any long process to do in home.

Heavy washing basket.

If you have a pile of laundry which looks like weights in your hands, you will be the most frustrated wife in the world. You will spend the whole day washing clothes with long programs in your washing machine. They are too many and you are too busy.

uncleaned balcony or laundry room.

If you have balcony that's full of dust or a messy laundry room, this will be a main reason to make you hate laundry. It is just because sometimes we ignore the balcony as if it is not a part of the home. Like it is outside and always full of dust and it takes a long process to clean.

So how to make it easier and overcome these problems? here you are some tips

Overcome bad weather

As I said if you have a bad weather like one or couple of days, dry your clothes over an internal rack. If you have bad weather most of the time, dryer must be added to your laundry room if you don't already have one.

Overcome the heavy baskets

Sometimes you are in a hurry and bring some clothes to wear from the closet, wear them and you change your mind or you will not wear them for any reason. After a while when you organize, you will not be sure is this is uncleaned or what and it ends up to be in the laundry basket. Have a moment to drop them in a place you know, instead of throwing them in the ground. Same goes for work clothes you wear for one day. Just hang them into fresh area and they will return like new. Don't think it is easy to put all clothes around you in
the laundry basket. Plus I will share with you my routine that overcame all of problems we mentioned above in the next posts.

Overcome uncleaned laundry room

Don't ignore your balcony. Treat it as a part of your living room. Clean it whenever you clean your home. Also make your laundry room a beautiful place for you like adding some frames, plants or table with a flower vase. this will motivate you for going to balcony or laundry room too many times.You are done.

How to make candy toast

I don't know exactly where is this recipe from. I have been taught this recipe so many years ago when I was child. This recipe is very light, crispy from outside and soft from inside. It is very easy and it is made mainly from toast bread.

The ingredients:

1 bag of toast bread.
1 small bowl of water.
Oil to fry

For the syrup:

2 cups of sugar
1 cup of water
1 small spoon of lemon juice.

First, cut off the brown edges of the toast bread piece.

Cut the white part into quarters.

Flat the pieces with the rolling pin.

Roll the piece and wet your hand with some water to close the end of the roll

Do the same for all the bread pieces.

In a medium heat and small pot put the sugar and the water. Don't stir just leave it to boil until you get the thickness you like for the syrup. The syrup need to be cool before using it.

Fry all the pieces in the oil over a medium heat. Try to be fast and careful because they turn into gold very quickly.

Get out the rolls from the oil and immediately drop them into the cool syrup. Leave them for 30 seconds and get them out of the syrup.

You are done. Just feel free to eat with chocolate syrup, with cream or with nuts. I hope you liked the recipe. See you next post.

Quick Organizing Tips : Exact baby milk standard every time

I like to share this little cute tip with you . I don't rely compeltely on baby milk bottles but sometimes I need it. When I open a new baby milk tin I like to cut the metal cover just like this.

When I make the milk bottle I like to have an edge to sweep the standard spoon in it to get the right amount of milk each time

I liked the idea so much. You can use a tape to do the same concept. You can also it in all your seasoning.

The secrets of the soft Egyptian Basboosa

Basboosa is a very famous dessert in Egypt. It is always eaten with a cup of tea after the "Iftar". I like it. It is very tasty and sweet. It is very soft and delicious.

The only problem with this easy dessert is how to make it soft and successful. Most of new house wives mistakenly make it very hard. Today I will show you the tricks and secrets of making the easy tasty soft Basboosa.

Basboosa is made mainly from Semolina flour. Which is very useful for human body. I promise you can find all the ingredients in your country.

The ingredients :

1 cup of semolina flour.
1/2 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of animal margarine.
1/2 cup of cream or yogurt
1 tbsp of baking powder.
1/3 cup of grated coconut (This is optional)
Nuts for decorating and also for rich flavor.

For syrup :

1 cup of sugar.
1 cup of water.
1 small spoon of lemon juice.
1 tbsp of margarine.

First put the semolina and the coconut in a bowl and add the margarine. Slowly mix them together until all the flour mixed with the margarine.

Secret no. 1

If you added a lacteal to semolina it will make something called gluten which makes the mix gets hard in the oven . That's why we add the margarine before the cream or the yogurt. the margarine will cover the semolina and make layer between the semolina and the cream. This is one of the secrets of making soft Basboosa.

Secret no. 2

We slowly move the mix. Don't hardly mix it because mixing the mix so hardly make hard Basboosa as a result.

Add the sugar, cream or yogurt and baking powder to the mix and slowly mix them until you get the following texture.

In a 28 or 30 size tray covered with a margarine layer add the mix. With your spatula make the mix flat over the tray.

put the nuts sequentially and put it in the oven under 180 degree.

In a small pot and on a medium heat, add 1 cups of sugar and one cup of water . don't stir. When the mix is boiled add the lemon and leave it to boil until you get a sweet syrup. Turn the fire off and when the mix get warm add a tbsp of margarine to the syrup and leave it to melt.

Secret no. 3

Never stir a dessert syrup. It will make some crystal sugar on top if you stir it. Just leave the syrup to boil without moving it.

Secret no. 4

The spoon of margarine make the Basboosa gets soft and good texture.

Back to Basboosa. When you find the edges turned to brown turn off the lower heat and turn on the upper heat and watch it until you get a golden surface and turn off the heat.

Don't get out the Basboosa from the oven. Turn on the fire for the syrup until it boils again. Now get the Basboosa out and pour the syrup immediately over the Basboosa slowly. When you find the Basboosa stopped to absorb the syrup stop pouring and cover the tray leaving a small whole to breath. You are done.

Secret no. 5

In any recipe of dessert that needs syrup, we usually have to have one of the syrup or the dessert to be cold and the other to be hot. But in Basboosa both of them neeeed to be hot. This is a top secret of soft Basboosa.

Secret no. 6

When you cover the Basboosa you prevent it from getting hard and we left a small hole to breath because we don't want the steam to turned into water and destroy everything.

Cut it and you are done.

My sister is living outside the country and she is one of my permanent readers. It doesn't seem to be real reader corner because she is my sister it means someone who I know. But I still wait for you to send me your photos and projects. She is inspired by my fridge tour post and she liked to do the same for her fridge so let's get the tour started.

Actually I liked her fridge so much. It is full of colors of veggies and fruits in colanders. I also like how she put juice and milks she uses in breakfast for her kids every morning before they go to school in baskets so that she can pull them easily.
