Taken at my brother's party at The Reserve Liquor Lounge in Ortigas, even I was taken aback when I arrived at the VIP room and saw him there wearing that. LOL! For a brief moment, I thought "I should've worn my polka peplum top too." :P It's too fashion forward but I think he was able to pull it off. So since polka is in these days, does that mean they can wear floral top and pants too? :))

And for the details......it wasn't shown here but having seen last Friday's post, you know what the shoes were. Haha!!

As far as I know coral was pronounced color of the year. But I don't know why it feels like it's more of green to me. Been hoarding stuffs in this hue recently. :)

She was only 3 years old. She could've lived up to 5 years more...

Last Friday we lost our "bunso" (baby) to distemper. I didn't even know there's such an airborne virus for dogs. I mean how am I supposed to know? :(( When we had brought her with us to the family reunion (she was already very weak then) and had heard about my cousins' tales of how their dogs suffered the same, that's how I learned about the disease. It's almost like HIV to human. I guess the house renovation didn't do her well. She's always out and about trailing behind my father when he was visiting our apartment, that of my brother's or even our remodeled house.

When my brother took her home from the clinic two weeks ago, I saw some sliver of hope. I remember her trying her very best to get up to greet me and fell, it was heartbreaking. We were all putting out our bravados whenever we talk to her, I guess you can say that's some sort of pep talk to dogs. But at the back of my mind, I know the real situation. I did my own research too and the vet didn't say 50-50 for nothing. So for the last week while continuing her medications, I made it a point to pass by the other apartment every morning before I leave for work to see her. But I missed that Friday. :,((

When I heard the song Won't Last A Day Without You this afternoon, I remember that one defining moment when I was down and a hug from her was enough to made me feel better. Goodbye Betty, Ate loves and misses you. :((

To be honest, I wasn't that satisfied with the experience. I was looking for that "oh-my-gosh-I-almost-died-in-that-water-rafting-in-Bali" factor. LOL!! There wasn't that much challenge. But nevertheless, I enjoyed it with my Kaladkarins. ;-) Oh and yeah, I was the apple of the eye of that video recorder. :P That's how I project, 3:28. Haha!! Good times! :D

Monday Musings: The Job

Whenever one of my co-workers would introduce me to others as one of the managers in the company, I always correct him and say that I am not. Coz it's true. Indeed, my job title has that M word into it but I do not involve handling people. Although yes, I do ask them to implement something about my product but that doesn't necessarily make me a boss. No, I don't think I'm ready for that. It's just the job title being misconstrued at times. With about only 20 employees here in the company, it is a flat organization and everybody's reporting to only one country manager. I could effortlessly dress up the part though. :P

During some meetings with my Swedish boss whenever he visits here, I would often get a pang whenever I'd hear the word "let's consult with the engineers". A little voice inside in me screams "But I am one!!!" No please don't take it as a case of underestimating me or my technical background, but rather these people are more knowledgeable when it comes to the actual project execution, the timeline and everything. Wow, how I used to do all that legwork before. And now that I've moved to the sales and marketing aspect, it isn't the scope of my job anymore. And having been involved in technical work since forever, I do admit that there are days where I get distracted by indulging in the technical aspect. This being the first position in this country and the fact that my Swedish boss is seldom around, I admit that I am still groping/ Sometimes it's still feels alien to me whenever we will have a meeting and I would hear the words "for management decision", everybody looks at me and eventually assigns to me the task. With the sole decision maker here in the country, sometimes I feel like it is a very weighty responsibility. 0_0 And then this cerebral recorder player cues in "You can do it, you've got talent." Gosh, I must've heard of it a hundred times from my lolo (Swedish boss).

But lately I realized some other aspects of the job that is not within the defined tasks in my portfolio. After working for almost a month, I believe that I've established a good rapport with my co-workers and that I've become a little involved as well into their personal lives. What with some niggling issues between some of them, I can't help but be concerned with the impact to the company. Okay, I'd admit that I first thought about the direct impact to the product but I dare not say it is selfish as we are all working towards only one goal. Once again, that feeling is so alien to me. That feeling of doing something about these people issues is so not me. Perhaps you may chalk it up to my previous experience where I was almost a "virtual" employer of my SG company. Of course in every company, there will always be issues but working here alone in the PH somehow made me detached from whatever was going on back there. I've got used to being an independent contributor. Next month there will be a company outing/teambuilding activity and since we really don't have an HR staff here, the country manager seeks help from all of us when it comes to the activities. Let's just say that I want to get a little more involved when it comes to the planning. And I must make amends with the fact that, taking that product word aside, maybe there really is a reason why they put that M word into that job title...........

Concede!!! For the first time in KTV, I conceded!! Hahaha!!!

Oh my gosh, the girls in my company are so talented in the singing department that I can't decide who among them is the best. LOL! Gretch's voice ( in green) is childlike and somewhat shrilly, Peach's voice (the one next to me) for me is well-modulated and I like the timber of her voice while I can't tell Leq's (the one in specs) because its hoarse after coming back from a vacation. But they all have one thing in common, they all can sing high-pitched songs like Better Days, Listen, Stand Up for Love, Through the Fire, etc. In short, PANIS ako!!! Hahaha!!!

I'd like to think of my voice as errrm cultured (having musical tones and clear pronunciation) and sure, I can sing the above-mentioned songs in the shower in falsetto. Hahaha!! So what I did was share the songs with them and once the high notes in the chorus arrives, I ask for a back-up. Very clever isn't it, wahahaha!!! Whatever extra pitch I lacked in singing though, I made sure to make up for it through dancing. HAHAHA!!! Jeez, it's the gym's group exercises effect on me. Tsk!

The activity was held at Music Platinum somewhere near Jupiter Street in Makati. I like the ambiance, it was my first time in there. I like those Korean writings by the entrance. :)

It's been almost a month of working and I can see how the developers are stressed with the projects. And as the PM, I can only help but console them through my funny antics. LOL! It didn't take long for the people to unleash that "becky" side of me. Hahaha!!! Oh em, I can't explain how this side of me lets loose sometimes you know? Fyi, I'm generally a reserved person. Hahaha!!!

Family Reunion

Back to the very same place we went to two years ago at Bagac, Bataan for our family reunion last week. :)

It took about less than 3 hrs drive from Manila. Here's a collage of my Dadan moments. Left photo's perfect caption: "Anaaaak siya ang tatay mo." HAHAHA!!! He was just awakened from his sleep and I was trying to cheer him up through a photo-op with one of his fave TVCs and that is of Xian Lim's float for McDo. LOL!

I've got a lot of nephews and nieces na through my cousins. Dadan I believe is the youngest among them and it is a good time for him to meet them including those who live in Bataan. When I introduced him to them though, he was in a good mood playing along to my requests to sing songs for them - you and me sitting on a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G, walking on sunshine (Xian Lim's song for McDo), walang-kamatayang Barney songs (lol!) and dance to Nicki Minaj's SuperBass with me singing (and rapping ehem, ehem. LOL!)

And the thing about these nieces is, they're all soooo grown up already. Most of them are already in their teens (through our eldest cousin in my mother's side). Take for example Ericka (girl with me on the left photo above), I can still remember playing with her when she was I think 2 or 3 years old??? She used to be called Kang-Kang then. Gosh, what is it with repeating household nicknames for Filipinos?? And please don't even start to ask about mine. LOL! Back then every Saturday, I'd play with her in their house after my Bible study and she'd bawl everytime I go home. I was only in high school then I believe and I remember crying too on my way home thinking she's such in a pitiable state because she has no playmates or whatsoever. Seriously, what was I thinking then??? WAHAHA!!! Although I only play with her every weekends, our bond became so close until it came to the point that she's already calling me Mama. Awww. I felt guilty for her mom (cousin-in-law) so I decided to detach myself. :( Now, look at her she's all grown up as a pretty lass. Man, I feel so ancient. Waaaaaah!!!! :))

Thankfully with Lem around our family is complete but we had to stay only for a day because of some commitments. (He was MIA 2 years ago and the price he had to pay this time is some serious photo-ops from some distant relatives under the sun, LOL!!) Only Ma and Pa were left there on the second day. So, I missed the activities last time wherein I jumped from the cliff and swam with the jellyfish (ick!). Blogged here. :)) We were able to meet some other cousins also who arrived at night and joined a bit for some videoke bonding. If there's something about this side of my family though, THIS is the side where everyone is TALENTED when it comes to S-I-N-G-I-N-G. Nobody backs down on this craft on this side of the fam. Haha!! And I found it sweet how my aunts would be bothered every now and then that I might get bored because the machines can only be set-up at night. Aww, I love my Titas. Hahaha!!!

I hope uncles would arrange for this thing to become something like a yearly event. And I hope next time would be a much more complete family reunion. :)

Skinny Is Not Dead

Sure, I may have gotten it 50% half the price for being out of season trend, but I will forever be partial to high-waisted skinny jeans. The black trousers I got from MNG has been rendered useless months ago when I noticed a rip somewhere at the back pocket. Weird. So this Topshop item couldn't have come in a better time.

I was feeling very confident with the way I strut it off in the Manila airport for my MY flight two Sundays ago and really very pleased with my purchase. But it was fleeting. I felt like shrinking when I saw a quite known PMAP model Wilma D. aboard the same flight wearing some skinny jeans and high heels. I even queued behind her during boarding. Wow, this is the real skinny one standing infront of me. Hehehe. :P But she's very funny during the flight though. She pulled off some antics that made the other passengers laugh. I wasn't able to help but cackle in her gestures while finding my seat in the plane. Made me recall her short TV stint as a comedienne when I was younger. Wasn't able to have a photo-op with her though. :P

Here's a quick overview of my biz trip in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia last week. ;)

The ❤ -shaped pool of the PJ Hilton. For the first time I didn't bring a swimwear on a business trip because my boss said the hotel's got a good gym. Yeah, the boss knows I'm a gym rat!! :P So it was the first time for my neon pink trainers to hit a gym outside PH - with the boss on a Monday night. The hotel staff did allow me to swim in my tank top and shorts on Tuesday morning though. Haha!!

Hotel sweets. :) I think I'm gonna gain some pounds for business trips with the "boss" or my "lolo" (grandpa :p). Monday commenced with a buffet breakfast courtesy of the hotel, a quick caffeine fix on Starbucks prior to the meeting with the clients, a sumptuous Japanese meal with the CEO, another run for coffee in Starbucks after the meeting, dinner with "lolo" in a steak house and another recap meeting for desserts around 930 in the evening in the hotel. Yay, yay, yay!!!!!

For day 2, I had some few hours for uhmm myself after checking out since flight was still later on in the evening so I decided to get out of PJ and go to the city!! I wanted to see the twin towers again!!!! :D The receptionist said with a very limited time I've got, 'twas better for me to catch the train and not the taxi. Of course I wouldn't take the cab, it's rather fun riding the trains and finding your way in a foreign country coz I feel that my "zero" sense of direction improves this way, mahaha!!! Actually, the moment I stepped out of the hotel, fail na agad. I was told to walk left but instead I turned right and only realized it after some 5 minutes. Juice-me-oh!!! Hahaha!!! On my first visit here, I had Ate Lisa as my guide, so to help me in my solo journey (as well as for "foursquare" updates) I took photos like the one above, hehehe. :P And finally, after some 30 minutes, I made it!! WOOHOO!! Congratu-malations!! :))

Had late lunch at Suria KLCC, shopped some shoes and followed around by some Malaysian guy and tried to lose him by going through some other shops. Went to Zara and Topshop twice. LOL! Anyway, I'll prolly visit this country more now with my work so until some future updates.

P.S. I just got back from a family reunion in Bataan this morning. Hehe. :D

After scuba diving for the first time, now I finally understand how the peace sign came about in posing for photos. And no it didn't come from the Koreans, lol! Because really, can anybody tell me how to appear errrm "cool" while you have that "pacifier" thing in your mouth underneath the water??? I exhausted that pose in all of my photos and also this one below. LOL!

Actually, you can remove that "thingamajig" of a respirator and breathe through your mouth for some seconds but honestly I was too scared. During the practical training of that scenario (a case where the respirator appears to have been lost), there was a time when panic got the better of me and I rose out of the shallow water. So silly, I mean really, what was I thinking drowning in less than 5 feet water then? Hahaha!!

God must have inspired that person who invented scuba diving, for sure He wants us to discover the beauty of His creatures underwater and praise Him for it. ;-)

My knowledge about underwater creatures are limited to that of characters in Finding Nemo (wahaha, just kidding) but I like our Japanese instructor Kazumi for patiently pointing out living things that would've been otherwise lost on me (sea slugs, aquatic plants, etc). I'm not so sure if the photo below is similar to the school of moonfish in that movie, but watching them up above I wished they would form a pattern something like the words "EAC" and poooof, I'll resurface and find myself in Sydney. Nyahaha!! Oh I just love that film, my absolute favorite is Dory. Have I told you after watching that, her short-term memory loss kinda rubbed off on me?? For three consecutive days, I kept on forgetting by the counter the yogurt drink I used to buy in 7-11?? Without fail. For reals. :))

I also love the "fall backwards out" from the boat at the beginning of the dive. Kazumi, sensing the seed of worry in my face, held me on my knees and said "Don't worry KC, you will float." Hahaha!! And of course I did. I also enjoyed the fish feeding. :)

Another thing I loved in the activity? Wearing the divesuit!!! I know I feel sexy in a swimwear but maaaan I feel sexier in that thing!!! I felt like I was Jessica Alba in Into The Blue. Sabeeeeeehh?? :))

And now that I've started it, there's no point stopping me now. I wanna go back to Coron and dive in Barracuda Lake, Tubbataha Reef, Malapascua in Cebu and anywhere with diverse marine life and beautiful reefs. But I'm saying no to shipwrecks for now, those thing give me the heebie-jeebies. Yay! There's only one question hanging in the air,

Yes I’m adding this country to the roster of my MNC employers. J I changed my previous job title for something with more panache. Haha! Don’t get me wrong, I used to love my ex-job role because of the C word in it until I found out that the same title is also being used in some other fields which often leads to misinterpretation whenever I speak about it to other people. Now I have the M word in it, but it doesn’t really involve handling people because I don’t think I’m ready for it, but it’s a role that I envisioned myself doing before. :P Anyway, what am I saying?? This is just too shallow worrying about job titles right? Hehe. The important thing is the function and one aspect of this new job is the S&M factor in it (no, I’m not talking about Rihanna’s lol!) and this is just one world that I’ve always wanted to try without having to sacrifice my technical background. And so I’m so so so grateful for this new opportunity.

Having said that, I no longer enjoy the comfort of working from home. I’m now officially a Makati girl! Yey!! I know I told you before about how it was a dream for me to actually work here. And I can’t believe it’s finally happening. Sometimes whenever I strut my stuff along Ayala to grab a take out lunch, it still gives me a kick seeing those towering skyscrapers above me or even just looking down from the 41^st floor where my office is located and seeing the hustle and bustle of this business district. Probinsiyana lang?? Hahaha!! Sorry naman, working from home in the city for three years had practically made an hermit out of me. Hehe. Don’t’ get me wrong, I know some people would kill to have a job like mine before - waking up 30 minutes before the office time thereby avoiding the morning rush, managing your own time, saving a lot and a lot of other benefits I could think of but maybeI belong to the real “physical” corporate world – dressing up corporately (yesssssss!!), face to face meetings, co-workers association, easy access to malls and happening places (haha!), etc. :P

It’s only been 7 days since I started and I’m still loving everything about this job or working in this place. It took only a few days for my co-workers to unleash that jolly part of me (I think I hold the title for having the loudest laugh I guess in the office, haha!) and we’ll be having a karaoke session soon. ;-) Those things that other people find annoying about working here are strangely giving me secret pleasures – i.e, the long queues in fastfood chains during lunch, crowded transportation mediums, long wait in the elevators, etc. I love the possibility of bumping into acquaintances via the underpass, that fleeting blast of aircon against the outside heat whenever you pass by PBCom Tower, the ubiquity of coffee shops and the list goes on. Perhaps one day I’ll get tired of all these things I mentioned but for now allow me to just bask in this new job, new workplace, new co-workers and a new beginning. ;-)

As I type this, I’m now in one of the hotels in KL for work. And I’ll soon have an idea on how it is like to report to a Swedish boss. Yay! :P

Insanity Workout

Yes, let's get crazy!!

For one and a half month prior to my beach trips, I subjected myself into some seriously sweat-inducing, stamina challenging, killer workout exercise. The warm up alone already leaves you gasping for breath and by the end of the work-out, you're so sore you just wanna crawl after the stretch. LOL!! In short, this workout is just downright EVIL!!! I'm used to doing back to back exercises in the gym but I don't think the intensity is equivalent to a day's training in this program. Sooo hardcore!! Well, the program's name lived up to it's meaning. Truly insane! 0_0

You see I don't really avail the PT service in the gym. My reasoning is, when I was studying I didn't need anyone to tutor or coach me so now that I'm all grown up, why would I seek someone's help when it comes to my very own body? =P Vouching to the effectiveness of this program doesn't really mean I'm dissing the gym's contribution to my physique. Those back to back or even three kinds of group exercises class a day were all helpful when it comes to endurance training. But just like any other conscious beach goers who put extra effort at the beginning of the year to make them more "summer-ready", I had to try something different this time. After initially hearing about this workout from my friend's brother who served in the US army and followed up by Tisha's blog, I decided to give it a go. For the last two months, I rarely went to the gym and just focused on this at home. Here's a preview:

It was a two month program but like I said I was two weeks short. But nevertheless, I'm satisfied with the result. In their DVD blurbs, they promise to change your body from regular to ripped. :P Well, certainly I'm not ripped yet but I'm happy as to the way it trimmed/ flattened my tummy - my main concern. You see, I and my brother have this habit every morning in the mirror. That is, to raise our shirts and check our "abs". The only difference is, he's got some packs and I don't. Hahaha!!! But for the last weeks, I was happy with what I was seeing in the mirror. It was so much different than before. ;-)

And for this result, I resolved not to buy new swimsuits for this year and just compare photos from the previous to the present. :P When I told my friend Ali about how I still need to work out some more, he replied "Ano ba yan KC, magpasalamat ka na lang!" Hahaha!! I guess there will be really no point of satisfaction. :P I used to inhale for bikini photos, but here not anymore! ;-)

Because of some changes in my work set-up recently (will blog in the future), I admit that I somehow lost that amazing feeling everytime I check myself in the mirror every morning. And the thing with Insanity is, it's so effective that I prefer doing it at home than in the gym. Tsk!

D'Wall Climbing (Boracay)

Whoever said you can't climb in a skirt? And in a long, green and sheer one that is. Hahaha!! When we passed by D'Mall in Boracay, I was wearing the said skirt which I got from Bangkok. It was the last day and I can't let the opportunity pass by simply by walking back all the way to the accommodation in Station 3 just to change. I've always wanted to try this activity and yes, just like scuba diving, it was my absolute first to do this - and in Boracay. ;-)

Ate said (the one with nice arm muscles on the left *envious*) I can do it by raising the skirt up like in the photo below. O diba, the wall matches my skirt. :)) And so no further motivation needed. I finished the easy wall (green) in less than three minutes I guess. Piece of cake! Hahaha!!

They challenged me to try the one on the right, it's a moderate one and I accepted it. LOL!! And the left and right photo below summarizes what happened.

I lost count how many times I fell and shouted "I can't do it!" while climbing. :)) But I do remember sweating buckets and concentrating heavily on where I should put my limbs next. I don't have an idea how long it took me to finish it but it sure felt like I worked out a 30-minutes cardio exercise while doing it. :)) My arms and legs were shaking after and the strain remained for two days or so. Bloody wall climbing. LOL!!! But I enjoyed it nevertheless!! ;-)
