For the past few years, more and more women see the advantages that having hair extensions can give them. With extensions, any woman is given the chance to style her hair in any way she wants to. When it comes to managing your hair extensions, here are a few no no's:



Don't apply the extensions by yourself. This is most especially true if this is just your first time. Many women think that they can pull off putting extensions on their own just by following some instructions. I tell you, there is no Youtube video that can tell you the amount of work that must be put in order to apply the extensions. Because of this, it would be best that you leave this task to the hair experts. It may seem easy at one glance however putting on extensions is quite a complicated process. If you are not used to such tasks, you will surely commit a mistake that may not only damage the hair extensions but your hair as well. In addition to that, remember that no hair stylist who knows what he's doing will glue the extensions to your scalp. If the hair stylist that you have hired is doing this, run as fast as you can.



Don't focus too much on taking care of your extensions that you end up neglecting your real hair. Most women spend most of their time taking care of their hair extensions. Although changing the style of your hair extension can make you feel like you are playing with Barbie, you must understand the fact that you are a real person and that you have real hair underneath it. If you are the type person who wish to try different types of hair extensions every now and then, then you must take good care when you apply and remove them. There is nothing wrong in taking care of your extensions. However, you must not neglect your real hair.



Don't let the extension stay more than recommended. Since it is not real, except that the hair extensions will get worn out at some point. No matter how good the quality of your hair extension is, it will surely get deformed from all the washing, styling and dressing that it will be getting. When this time comes, face the reality and have the courage to throw it out. Hair extensions are applied in order to make you look beautiful and not to make you the embarrassment of the town. If you have no replacement yet, then settle with your natural hair.



Don't glue your extension to your scalp. I know that this may sound ridiculous but I have met so many girls who did this trick and they end up with an even more damaged hair. Gluing your extension to your scalp is a big no-no. Doing this may lead to hair loss since the glue that you will use will surely take the hair with it. In addition to that, it is possible that your skin will get irritated.

Princess Diana's dresses go under the hammer

Last year the British public had a fantastic opportunity to see an exhibition of Princess Diana’s dresses close up when a selection of her wardrobe went on display at Kensington Palace. Now, some of these beautiful designs have actually gone up for auction, and in total have raised a staggering £862,800, smashing the estimate of around £600,000.

The lot of ten ball gowns included some of Diana’s most iconic glamorous numbers: a teal-toned sequin-encrusted dress, a burgundy velvet dress and the black halterneck design she wore in the iconic photograph by Mario Testino taken in 1997.

The biggest expense of the auction was the stunning blue velvet off-the-shoulder fishtail dress with ruched detailing that the late Princess wore in 1985 at the White House when she danced with John Travolta. Selling for £240,000, it was bought by an anonymous bidder who said that he wanted to surprise his wife with the extravagant gift.

Beautiful though these dresses are, they have become more than just pretty things to look at in recent years: they’ve also been raising money for charity. Diana herself sold them after her divorce in order to raise charity cash, and the American buyer Maureen Rorech Dunkel decided to exhibit them after the princess’s death to raise some more.

The lowest price fetched at the auction, which took place on 19th March 2013, was for a bottle-green floor-length velvet Victor Edelstein gown that Diana used to wear for private entertaining in the mid-eighties. Strangely, this dress, with its sophisticated 1940s-inspired silhouette, is one of the most easily wearable and modern-looking pieces. Velvet feels luxurious to wear, and the simple maxi-dress style is always on trend.

To inject a little Diana-inspired style into your wardrobe, don’t be afraid to go for rich colours like the greens, deep blues and burgundies on show at the auction. Are you familiar with this movie? It’s a Tagalog film and personally one of my favorites because its kind of the story of my life. Status: Single is about a 30 year old virgin in a desperate search for love. It’s hilarious but also true for me.

And when you do choose to enter into an intimate relationship you open another huge door of issues to consider like protection and preventing unplanned pregnancies.

Why I chose Abstinence?

For me personally my upbringing had a huge part in my decision to remain a virgin until marriage. Without getting religious here, I personally feel that this huge step should be saved for someone you plan to spend the rest of your life with. For me this has saved me from the heartache and pain I have heard schoolmates and relatives speak of. I never have to worry about things like an unplanned pregnancy or being intimate with someone who has no true love or respect for me. I’m 23 now and I can tell you without a doubt that I do not regret my decision to remain abstinent. Being single isn’t the worst thing in the world and to be honest being single has given me enough time to get to know myself and what I like and dislike so that when I do enter into a relationship I will be mentally ready for the work that goes into maintaining a positive relationship.

What If I Want To Take That Step?

Be careful. Don’t just be with anyone. Take care of yourself. If you find the right person and you want to take that next step be sure to use protection and consider other options like birth control to prevent any unplanned pregnancies. Raising a child is tough and could you imagine how difficult it can be if you are struggling to be an adult when you yourself are only a child? It would be a terrible thing to add pressure on yourself that you are not ready to handle. These days there are so many sites out there that offer informational videos from people in your age group.

I know today I would normally share a Friday Fancies post talking about my favorite trends of the moment. But today I wanted to do something a little different. I wanted to share a book that I have been reading non stop with you guys today. Is that ok? The name of the book is “Rape Girl” By Alina Klein.

After reading this book I realized that I too had very backwards view when it came to women and the “rape issue” You see before when I heard of a young woman at a party getting sloppy drunk and dressed in a short mini dress being raped I usually responded with the age old “What did she expect to happen”. That my friends is the absolute wrong reaction. And I apologize for once being one of those people. You see in our society women are taught to behave and dress in a certain manner that conveys a sense of respect and maturity. While men are allowed to be as vulgar as they want with little to no consequences.

Rape Girl explored something that happens daily in the US and abroad. A beautiful young woman enjoying her time with friends is approached by a guy who seems interested in her. After a few drinks she wakes up feeling terrible and stumbled to take care of her sister. Except unlike every other morning this “interested” guy returns to the home and forces himself on this young lady. The events that follow make you angry and show just how backwards and fickle our society can be. If you have never considered reading a book that discusses real hard hitting issues like rape, I highly suggest you give this book a try. Rape Girl by Alina Klein opened my eyes and I hope it will do the same for many others in the world today.

As you can see the interior is a nice soft blue color and the plates are tourmaline therefore making it easy to pass the flat iron through the hair without snags. My sister has very fine curly hair so we kept the Hana Pro on the lowest setting possible and sat back and allowed it to work its magic.

As you can see, with any flat iron there will be smoke but I am happy to report that we did not feel that we were being smoked out of our home during my sisters hair sessions. Real Fashion For Real People

If you are what the world considers "plus size" then you will identify with the words you are about to read. Or heck if you are above the general height of 5'5 you also know how hard it can be to find clothes that are both cute and modest. Growing up I battled with both issues. I have always gone through phases where I'm skinny for a year and then boom out of no where I'm in a size 16 trying to figure out how this happened. (Darn you pizza hut).

Due to being "plus size" and coming in at 5'10 on the height scale shopping has never been easy for me. And to be honest when I look at plus size fashion these days it just leaves much to be desired. I know someone somewhere is saying well chunky butt lose weight...and to you sir I say be quiet! I didn't gain this weight over night and I certainly can’t wave a wand and make it disappear on command. So go in the corner and re think this whole one size fits all nonsense.

Women should be able to wear what ever they want regardless of their height or weight. This is where eShakti has come in to save the day. After sending in my measurements and hitting complete I waited patiently for the dress to arrive.

When the day finally arrived for me to come face to face with my customized dress I was both excited and freaked out. I began second guessing my choice and every thought from will my small boobs look nice in this dress, to omgosh I hope I won’t look huge due to the skirt of the dress. Now granted I knew how the dress looked prior to ordering but I am seriously overly concerned with the thoughts of others and I just didn’t want to wear a dress that would make me look bigger. So, to be honest I didn’t try this dress on for a few days after receiving it. But finally the weekend of the assembly approached and I knew that I had to put this dress on now, no turning back. So with fear and trembling I put on my big girl panties and put the dress on. And you know what…… I loved it!

Forgive me for sitting for the photographs but we stopped by a local park for the photographs and it was a trial finding an area that the wheelchair could go through. So instead we opted for sitting poses. That aside, this dress was the best! It fits perfectly and everyone loved it! I am happy to say there were no back fat sightings so that in itself made me smile. I have been reading a few DIY blogs lately as well as pinning every DIY project on Pinterest in hopes that one day I will actually attempt to complete one. With Whimsey Box I don’t have to worry about searching for inspiration or driving down to my local Michaels store to pick up supplies. 2. Honey Tea Thyme: I discovered this Etsy company a while back in one of my Love Club boxes. Their flavored honey is so delicious and super convenient. It seems that when I want a hot cup of tea the most I am usually heading out of the door and lack the time and patience for my tea bags to steep but with Honey Tea Thyme I take two or three teaspoons of flavored honey and stir it into a cup of hot water and voila a tasty hot drink!

3. The Road of Lost Innocence by Somaly Mam broke my heart. I read this book cover to cover in two days flat and I felt a huge urge to go out and support the Somaly Mam foundation. Human trafficking is a real problem that deserves all of our attention. If you ever have a chance I encourage you to read this book you will not regret it. 4. The 20/20 Experience by Justin Timberlake: OMGOSH you guys this album is amazing! I really can’t stop listening to it because I have missed this man for so long lol. But in all seriousness this album was amazing! Every song flowed together perfectly and let me just say that Strawberry Bubblegum is my personal favorite on the entire cd. I really hope he is not planning on going on another hiatus any time soon. I don’t think my heart could take it.

Equal Rights For Women

I remember growing up being terrified of hearing any bad news on the television. If there was a story about a family being murdered or a Typhoon that ravaged a country I did what ever I could do to avoid hearing what they were saying. It became so bad that some days I would actually avoid situations where I knew someone would bring up a current event that may cause my anxiety to shoot sky high. But one day in high school while watching a documentary about the troublesome times in Vietnam I realized that something I’m so afraid of hearing about is someone's reality day by day. There on that video as I watched young children abused and murdered I felt a pain in my heart that would not go away. I felt increased anger and frustration and wanted to do anything to stop such horrible actions from continuing. It was that day that I stopped being afraid and actually started staying up to date with current events.
During one of these occasions I stumbled upon a documentary about the lives of women in developing countries. The documentary spoke about how these women are constantly abused and stripped of their rights. This made no sense to me. How is it that in this day and time women are still fighting for the right to live and make their own choices. I have often thought about how I could help to hopefully bring a change for these women and possibly prevent things like that from occurring throughout the world.
Late last year I heard about the Somaly Mam Foundation, a foundation that works tirelessly to stop human trafficking of young innocent women. While browsing RadiantCosmetics.org I found a list of books and movies on the same subject and to my surprise I found a book by Somaly Mam herself entitled “ The Road Of Lost Innocence.”

This book touched my heart and I began to feel so much hurt and concern for these women. The book covered the heartbreaking reality of Somaly Mam’s childhood and her quest to carve out a better life for herself. By far this was one of the most touching books I have ever read. A true triumphant tale about one women's determination to change her lot in life. Somaly is truly a kind and strong human being and if you ever have a free moment please check out this book at your local library. This is a story everyone should read about. Even if you are not directly affected by the same struggles, hearing about her journey will surely move you to do what you can to support her work.

Florida give me a break! Living in the Daytona Beach area I can’t tell you how much our weather has been all over the place these past few months. One day its hot and the next we’re freezing, I mean come on nature get your act together. At a time when many of us should be wearing shorts and tanks and frolicking on the beach we are instead subjected to chilly and rainy afternoons. At times like these I wished I lived in Georgia where we had real seasons. So when you live in climate like stinky old Florida what do you wear to ensure that you won’t end up walking out looking like the idiot that didn’t bother to check the weather forecast. Nope, I’m serious and trust me after purchasing Hanes new seasonless legwear you will be a believer also!

We received a box full of various Hanes legwear and my sister chose to model the Seasonless Tights in the color jet black. She said that she loved the fact that the tights were super soft and breathable. Instead of feeling like a rolled sausage stuffed in hot fabric, she actually said the Hanes Legwear felt like a second skin! My sister killed these outfits and I couldn’t be happier with how quirky and cute these outfits are! The cute shorts are from Lauren Conrad's collection and when I saw them I couldn’t resist begging my sister to wear them. I would have done it myself but I’m incredibly hippy and trust me girls it would have looked awful on my body type. You pears out there know what I’m talking about.

At $5.97/pair these tights are a steal! We did happen to stumble upon a few more Hanes legwear in Wal-Mart and it took all the strength I had not to stock up on these cute leggings. The ones my sister are wearing are for girls 4’11 – 5’7 so make sure you check the size guide on the back of the packaging before picking up a pair. It would be a shame to grab a bunch of these babies only to get them home and realize you’re too short or in my case way too tall to wear them.
