It's beautiful how there are always hints and hidden answers in the universe that reflect what is going on in our minds. Sometimes it's prose in a book or a few lyrics from a song. My first polyvore ever and when better to start than for a contest? Especially when it's Versace for H&M. I've had my eyes set on the stud out leather jacket ever since the campaign images started surfacing. I also love the lilac dress which offsets the badass factor of the jacket and accessories. One thing I also love is the contrast of Hard & Soft textures. Fingers crossed!

I came across these shoes today when window shopping. I was drawn to them cause of the Margiela aesthetic. I've also been a little obsessed with the acrylic boots from Dries, so naturally this caught my attention. They're from Simone Rocha, her S/S12 collection is also amazing! Maybe it's also because of my love for all things made of organza. Nothing sexier than a button up that show some skin.

Today was the first day of the annual Alexander Wang sample sale for Spring 2011. I got my hands on a white Jade clutch and a T tank dress in gray. The line was not that bad. I got there 1 hour earlier than the sale was suppose to start so I could get close to the start of the line and not miss anything. 1.5 hours wait in total. Not too bad. =]

Little Prayer

Few days I came across the picture of Ashley Olsen wearing a string of prayer beads. Something about it was really awesome, I loved how the tassel hung. I forgot about the until thing until a few days later when I passed by a souvenir store in Chinatown selling various Chinese items along with Buddhist prayer beads. I asked myself why it is that such traditional Chinese fashion items such as a cheongsam or prayer beads come across as tacky when Asians try to pull it off? (Remember Parent Trap and young innocent Lindsay wearing that baby pink qipao. I was jealous.)

Out of boredom, I dug through my jewelry making supplies today I decided to make my own prayer beads inspired necklace. To reinterpret the Buddhist inspired necklace, I used neon string (on trend with this season's accessories) and quartz beads at the ends of the necklace. The neon pink string is just something I got at Home depot, it's mason's line. Excuse terrible photo quality, I can't seem to locate my camera cord.

I know I'm in the wrong season to be shopping for fall/winter outerwear. But this NYC heat is making me wish for a cooler temperature (especially seeing bloggers on the West Coast wearing layers). I've already collected a few nice outerwear pieces from spring sales/thrift stores that would carry me nicely through Fall.

Lately, I've been craving a nicely quilted leather jacket. Surprisingly, searching through ShopStyle.com, I came across an almost perfect version of what I wanted. Now I just need to start a piggy bank fund...

One great thing about copycats in this world is that they exist in fashion too, especially in shoes! I love how there are so many interpretations of the 'It' Spring shoes. You've got the Chloe look-a-likes and the YSL look-a-likes. And then you got them merged all together too! I think the best thing of all is that they're anti-statements of the stilettos platforms that have become so popular!

A Dose of Color

Have you ever taken the foil wrapper of a piece of Red Hot gum and licked it and then stuck it on your skin? The intense cinnamon flavor of the gum leaves a trace on the paper. When you peel it off after words it leaves a tingling sensation and sometimes a red spot. The Warming Mineral mask from The Body Shop has a similar effect, which is what I love about it. The Proenza Fall 2011 collection is to die for! I absolutely adore the Midwest blanket patterns especially used in the trousers. The burnt velvet pattern used in the evening dress has a hypnotizing LED lights effect. A showstopper for sure on a night out! LOVE.

So about two weeks ago I took a picture of all my shoes and realized I owned nothing outside of the neutral color palette. Coincidently today when i was shopping for desert shoes for my bf as a Valentine's Day present, I came across these lovely Stuart Weitzmans. The best part of it all is that they were on sale and they were a quarter of what it was originally. I need to go to shoe therapy.

Bill Cunningham

The very first time that I heard about Mr. Bill Cunningham was in my Fashion Business class. We had read two articles about him (probably the only few that existed at that time). After I read the articles I thought he was a shy but incredible man who captures the zeitgeist of Fashion. It was most recently in September 2010, during Fashion Week that I got to see him in action. Unfailingly I spotted him with his signature blue jacket and his trusty camera. At the time I had no one to share that moment of appreciation with, but seeing him lit a spark in me. It was a such treat being able to watch him work and capture moments of perfection. In March a film will be out about him, watch the trailer here. Can't wait!

There a few things that give me a sort of shock. Shocks of excitement that seems to be some for of adrenaline rush, sometimes it makes me want to get up to my feet and sometimes I want to squeal. Yes like a little piggy. Two of those few things would be dance movies and fashion. Yes dance movies, eg Step Up. They may not be the movies with the best stories lines or whatever film critics write about. But they give a sort of energy that I want to feel or be part of. The intensity that a dancer moves...it's so full of life. I wish I had the skills to dance anything close to that. Dance in a way to make someone want to get up and join you.

Secondly Fashion with a capital F. The type of intensity you get from dancing you get at a Fashion show. The type of preparation that leads to the single moment in the spotlight is not appreciated enough. Within that short time frame, there is so much visual information to absorb. I've had many conversations before about how Fashion is superficial. Fashion is part of your identity, the way you dress can influence the way you feel about yourself and how others view you. The shoes you wear affect the way you walk. By dressing in different clothes, it's like putting on a different version of yourself. When I put on a pair of killer heels or well made jacket, I feel powerful and fearless. I don't think anyone can deny the confidence they feel when they know they look good. And why does that make a difference? It makes a difference because that's how people land jobs and how some people find the courage to approach the attractive guy/girl across the room--with confidence. So I'm finally done with my thesis and I have time to do some blogging. I've been noticing this certain color that keeps popping up through my searches in the internet. Searches for next shoe to buy, search for inspiration...you know the usual, but mainly search aka shopping. I've noticed that Mint Green is very popular at the moment. The pictures that have been making me stop and right click to save them in my inspiration folder have Mint Green in it. I have a feeling it'll be a popular color for the next Spring collections.

Fashion never sleeps

So before I head of to bed to cure my headache. I need to release some thoughts out of my mind in preparation for more. Firstly....

Yesterday at school, we had Jack and Lazaro from Proenza Schouler, alums of Parsons, come in to discuss their brand and the years of hard work which led to the development of the label. Dean Collins moderated the conversation. They gave some good advice about how important it is staying true to who they are as designers and having a unique perspective on design. It was also interesting to hear how they work together as a team and join their two worlds together to create one. The entire event was somewhat of a reality check. Everything is here and now. It all happens in real time. There was a question about how or where the duo draw their inspiration, Lazaro answered that inspiration is not something which is forced, it comes to you by you living your life and absorbing a collection of images, moods and feelings around. He gave an example of how he might see a car in a specific shade of red and then days later see a girl wearing a hat and then recoloring the hat in the red of the car. The subconscious mind is being addressed. It is interesting how we work as human beings in relation to the world around us.

Speaking of inspiration, I keep a folder of images of things that inspire me. Each day I'm will upload 3 images. Just coz I like the number 3 and it's suppose to be my number.

Sonia Rykiel Spring RTW 08

Sonia Rykiel and H&M are doing a collaboration!!! And it's for lingerie! The collection will be on sale in December and the collection will be launched at the Grand Palais!! I'm excited to see the collection and the campaign! Hopefully pictures will be released soon.

I want some more cute bras which can be worn as tops as well. Recently I brought a bustier/bra in a soft pink from H&M, It has a sort of ribbon corset detail in the front. I haven't worn it yet but it'll be really cute in a sheer top or deep V sweater.

As I am broke right now from over spending. I can only dream of what to buy.

Thigh-high Boots

I'm currently obsessed with Thigh-high boots/ over the knee boots. I can't wait til Fall rolls around and they become affordable. My fav pair off the runway are the ones at Chloe. In fact I think all the boots from Chloe Fall 09 is all very desirable. Thigh-highs are a great way to keep some of summer's pieces in your Fall closet when the weather becomes cool. I would definitely rock them with a tweed pair of shorts, similar to these from Rebecca Taylor.

Chikalicious Puddin'

So one random night, I had a sudden crave for desserts. Fortunately enough, around St. Marks, there are a ton of nice lil dessert places. In the second edition of Indian Vogue, I came across an article about Japanese dessert eateries. One of them was Chikalicious, which turned out to be a petite lil dessert restaurant on 10th Street. After reading many reviews, I discovered that across from it, the same owners opened another dessert store, Chikalicious Puddin', where Puddings were the main focus. The store is a tiny boutique where an nice Indian man takes your order.

Since, my roommate and I previously purchased a few cakes from Blackhound. We settled on shortbread cookies instead. They were lemon poppy seed shortbread cookies, they came in a tiny box (above). Priced at $10, but I was curious, after reading the reviews, so we got them. The cookies were good. Worth the money? I don't know. I've yet to try the puddings though.

To start off, my first official post will be about SABON.

Sabon is this awesomelicious body care store. Lotions, Bath/Shower Gels,Scrubs,Candles, Soaps, Facial Care Products, Body Oils...etc. The best part of this store, is when you go in they have a stone basin at the back of the store, where you can try out their products, usually a scrub and then a lotion. That's one sole reason why I love going into that store, every single time that I leave, I leave with AMAZZZZINGLY soft and smooth hands! =]

Their products are all natural and made in Israel. And they don't test on animals. Buying their products make me happy. And they come in the really nice scents. I'm currently using their mud mask (minerals from the Dead Sea), Carrot Body Lotion and Lavender Apple Salt Scrub. Do yourself a favor and check them out!
