I kicked off holiday gift guide week with my one of my favorites: items for the home and today I am continuing with one of the more complicated (for me) subjects: men! Haha! I guess it can be easy if you have a guy who is into "stuff", but my husband is not! Luckily my brother is, so I do have fun shopping for him. Generally I look for things for my guys that are either something they have been needing (for my husband, it is wireless ear buds for running), clothing (because he hates shopping for himself), or things that just shout "I'm a man!" (like a survival toolkit). A few of the items I have picked for this gift guide are things my husband owns and loves, and I will let you know about them down below!

I'm calling this weeks' 10 under $50 the "Let's get cozy" edition. I still can't believe that a mere week ago I was still wearing tees and sandals, and now it is so cold that I've officially put our winter clothes back in rotation. I'm suffering from seasonal whiplash over here! This most wonderful time of the year is, in my opinion, best spent cuddled up at home spending time with the ones you love. Enter, Gap's "purebody" collection. It is by far my favorite place to go to stock up on warm, cozy lounge wear. For the past three nights, my daughter Natalie has had winter season soccer tryouts. How To Style Flares For Fall & Winter

So here we are in lovely little November. 2015 is pretty much wrapping itself up, and I'm over here scratching my head like "Where did those last ten months run off to??". Ah well, at least it's almost time for some sweet potatoes with marshmallows! One of my favorites that you really can't get away with eating any other time of the year. Because it's an absurd thing to eat when you think about it.

Thinking of all the events and errands that need to be done around the holidays has me realizing I have a few gaps that need to be filled in my wardrobe. One such item is a good pair of flares, and I've been hunting for some cute ideas on how to style them. Here are a few of my favorite looks for the fall and winter season.

Look 1:

Moto Jacket

This is a popular pairing that I love because it mixes up two different styles; the casual boho vibe of the flares with the more dressy, edgy look of the moto jacket. It just works!

Get the look: moto jackets: option 1, option 2 / flares: these "Flea Market Flares" from Madewell are all the rage.

Look 2:

White Tee + Field Jacket

This is a great weekend/ running errands/ mom duties look. I generally like the darker flares, but this lighter wash looks great with the olive green of the field jacket.

Look 3:

Stripe Top + Coat

Here you can see how flares work well with a long winter coat. If you keep the cut clean it helps polish the flares up a bit. Definitely keep the cut above the knee, otherwise you will get into frumpy town territory.

Get the look: stripe tee / coat: here's a nice clean cut navy blue coat, or if you are looking for a pop of color this one is fun! / flares: I like this black denim pair as a nice alternative to a regular dark wash. And under $60!

Look 4:

Cozy Sweater

Simple, easy, and stylish. The ultimate trifecta.

October Monthly Budget Breakdown

The "Monthly Budget Breakdown" is a new series aimed towards guiding your varying shopping habits. (You can read more about the beginnings of this idea here). We all shop differently, we all have different budgets, and with that in mind I am creating monthly shopping ideas to build your wardrobe at three different price points: $100, $300 and $500.

My budget would average out somewhere around the $100/month range, so this will be the closest to what my actual shopping habits are. For the $300 range, I will add on $200 worth of items in addition to the $100. For the $500, I will add an additional $200 to the $300. So essentially you will be able to buy all the items from $100 on. I hope you like this new series, and find it useful and personalized for you!

First off, apologies for the lack of posts lately. My computer went on the fritz again (I'm starting to think my computer is cursed or just really hates me) and I just got it back up and running. I'll spare you the details, but it involved the "Blue Screen of Death" as they call it...yeah not fun. Anyway, here we are, and I'm happy to be back! Fingers crossed my computer behaves for a bit now.

October really flew by; I'm pretty sure we accidentally skipped a week or two right? It can't possibly be November this weekend. I haven't done much shopping, other than what I shared in this post, as it is still pretty warm here. I think fall pretty much gave up on us and now I am just waiting for it to all of a sudden be winter. I have lots of lovely visions in my head of how I would like to be dressing though, and this list is created based on that!

I would use my $100 budget this month to stock up on a few fun additions for the season. I'm definitely loving a simple moto jacket, which can be styled so many ways. I've saved a lot of inspirational looks on my Pinterest board revolving around the style.

A tunic-length plaid pullover will look perfect with skinnies and boots. I really love the simple window pane style of this one. Again, loving anything tunic length forever and ever.

Lastly, I love the look of a clean and simple black leather saddlebag for fall. This one is real leather and only $58!

If I had an additional $200 to spend, I would stock up on a few nice sweaters. I've bought a lot of cheap sweaters from Target in the past, but am realizing they just don't hold up very well past one season of wear. I love the styles of both of these sweaters from Banana Republic.You could definitely wait for a sale on these to save a bit.

The crew neck cutout front sweater comes in several pretty colors, and the fun shape gives it some extra style.

The side-zip oversize turtleneck sweater looks oh so comfy, and absolutely perfect for chilly days.

With an additional $200, I would invest in a really nice pair of riding boots. These from Madewell look so swanky! They are currently on sale for $264, down from $298, with an additional 20% off, making them come in around $210. These will be your go-to boot all season long. Well this month is just flying by! How are we already halfway through October? We returned home from our vacation on Wednesday. I'm always so sad to leave my family behind and come back home, but am grateful for the time I got to spend with them for a few short days. The amount of fun we pack in holds me over until the next time I get to see them (for the most part). My brother got me Settlers of Catan for my birthday, and we were all immediately hooked! We played three nights in a row and are now all having withdrawals. Haha. Anyone else into that game? It's so much fun!

Back to the matter at hand, below is this weeks' 10 under $50 picks. I went with a theme of olive green, which is such a universally flattering color. It pairs beautifully with blush and rose gold tones, so I added a few of those as well. Happy shopping!

September is usually the month I do the most shopping for my wardrobe. The reason is two-fold: 1. It's time to re-fresh my cold weather wear, and 2. It's my birthday month so I allow myself to splurge a little more than normal. I actually haven't done much shopping this season as I've been focusing more on getting rid of things than on adding things. While I haven't bought much, I am pretty in love with the five things I have added to my closet for fall:

1. Aritzia Sweater

This was my birthday present that I picked out for myself. I've loved the aesthetic of Aritzia since way back when Jillian Harris was The Bachelorette (remember that?) and she mentioned shopping there. I believe at the time it was only a Canadian retailer. They have since opened a few stores in the U.S., and lucky for me there are two within a few hours from where I live. So for my birthday I asked to go there with the intention of buying a sweater or one of their gorgeous scarves. Unfortunately the scarves were too itchy for me. I'm allergic to wool, and even though they say they are "soft brushed wool" I still can't handle them. My eyes and skin start to immediately itch when I put one on. Such a bummer. Turns out most of their scrumptious sweaters also had wool. I was majorly disappointed, but since I had gone all that way I was determined to find something. Enter the Wilfred Diderot sweater, made of a soft cotton modal blend. This is the coziest cocoon sweater, and I love the pyramid stud detailing along the back.

I loooooove Everlane tees, they are the best quality for the price, it's just downright ridiculous. $15 for the softest cotton tee cut to perfection? It's a no-brainer wardobe staple. I purchased a new black v neck and a new white u neck for the season. I love to layer these under open front cardigans and plaid tops. I'm tempted to buy all the colors in all the cuts, but for now I went for basic black and white. Some of the cuts are more expensive than others, but they are all a fabulous deal.

3. Adrienne Vittadini Booties

I was on the hunt for a pair of booties for fall, with my requirements being: hit at the ankle, straddling the line between casual and dressy, and have the perfectly rounded pointed toe (now I'm just being difficult). Well, I found them! I used birthday money to buy these...thanks Mom! ;)

I've blogged about these before here and here, so I won't go into them much again other than I wear these constantly and love them! I wish they had them in a solid dark denim, which is the only other pair I am looking to update in my closet this season.

This is an item I put on my wish list after seeing how many inspiration looks I pinned that had oversize gray scarves involved. I decided to try and find a deal on a cashmere version on Poshmark, and I did! I found a cashmere scarf from Nordstrom, sized 88" long and 44" wide, originally $100, and I bought it for $34. Pretty sweet deal. I definitely have some tips on how to successfully shop on Poshmark, so I think I will work on a post on that for the future. October!! You are here! What exactly is going on with life? I mean, wasn't it just New Years? I seriously can't believe it's already time to start worrying about Halloween costumes, pumpkin pie recipes, Christmas shopping...I'm getting exhausted just thinking about the holiday season! It is definitely the most exciting time of the year, don't get me wrong, and I love all the family time we get to spend together. A magical thing happened yesterday...it rained! If you are looking for a super chic and cozy addition to your closet this season, look no further than a camel coat! I am so drawn to these this year, and will definitely be adding one to my wishlist.
