In my opinion:
This was a very sweet and loving story about a young girl named Tressa who learned a lesson from her gran about the legend of the Easter robin. It definitely was a story filled with compassion and faith. We need to have faith in God to take care of those around us as well as its creatures. I think it is important to look through the eyes of a child as they are learning and growing. Children have love in their hearts as we can see from Tressa's example. She learned an important lesson from her gran and also learned about an old Pennsylvania Dutch tradition called oschter-foggel. I'm definitely going to introduce this new tradition to my children. It will be a fun activity to do right before Easter.
The illustrations were beautiful and filled each page perfectly. I always appreciate the time the illustrators take to bring the story to life. I definitely recommend The legend of the Easter Robin.

In My Opinion:

This Origami book has beautiful pictures, easy to follow instructions and unique paper. For a beginner like me it was nice to see that each project was based on beginner level to expert. I especially loved the design of the crane. This book is recommended to someone who is interested in learning the simple art of origami.

In my opinion:
I was excited to read “Now and Always Yours” because I had just finished the first book “Legally and Lawfully Yours!” This is a heartfelt novel, continuing the story of Shannon and her brother Greg, who recently gets out of prison and is ready to start over as a dad and face the daunting realities of life.

In my opinion:

I'm in love with the Proper romance novels and My Fair Gentleman is one of my favorites. It is also based on a classic, My Fair Lady but has its own twist.
The characters Nancy created were equally enjoyable and I especially liked Ivy and Jack's relationship. Jack drove me nuts in the beginning with his rebellious side but throughout the story, his softer side was shown for his sister and mother. I guess I always appreciate men who are mature and act like gentlemen. Sometimes, we must overlook the faults in others because we never know who they will become.
Jack becomes the new Earl of Stansworth and quickly needs to learn how to be polite. How will he ever learn? That is where Ivy comes in. She struggles to teach him the correct way to act. Will she be successful? Will their relationship blossom?
This story was delightful and fabulous. I definitely recommend My Fair Gentleman to anyone who loves a proper romance novel.

In my opinion:

I reviewed “Abby’s Crossing,” by Darryl Harris. This story is about a young widow who accepts a proposal to a man twice her age, out of obligation to provide a secure future for her child. However, she feels a connection to a freighter named Scooter, who isn’t a member of the church, yet comes to Abby’s aid when her son disappears following the Battle of Bear River. I enjoyed reading this exciting book. It has a combination of history, romance, religion and suspense all wrapped into one story. The characters came to life as the story continued through challenges they embarked. Being a mom helped me to relate to the character of Abby, since she only wanted what was best for her son and was willing to sacrifice everything to be a good mother. The quest to find her son tests her courage and faith, which kept me wondering what I would do in her situation. I recommend this fun historical novel to those out there who love to read novels that they won’t be able to put down!

I had the privilege of watching Just Let Go in the comfort of my home. It has been difficult for me to get out of the house due to having a seven month old, two and a half year old disabled child and a five year old. So, it was a treat to finally get to watch this incredible film. I wanted to see it in the theater but like I said, it is hard to get out of the house.

In my opinion:

I was impressed with this film. It was based on a true story and I couldn't even imagine going through the heartaches that Chris Williams went through. I've had my fair share of trials but this was an incredible story about one man's heart turning toward forgiveness. It proves that there are decent people out there. We are all trying to get through life and sometimes we need to help one another while overcoming the most difficult challenges. I'm so glad I had the opportunity of viewing this incredible film and know that you will enjoy it as much as I did. I loved it! I ended up giving the DVD to my sister who knows the director. She was super excited to own Just Let Go.

IN MY OPINION:
This is a powerful and insightful book. Not only is it an excellent book for returned missionaries but also a great reminder for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of things we need to work on. I like how it talks about how we should take time to study and ponder the scriptures daily with scriptures and references to go along with it. I also like how at the end of each chapter it summarizes the chapter in a nutshell. I highly recommend this book to give as a gift for someone going on a mission or returning home.

I love “It’s All About Christmas,” because it includes stories, songs, poems, history, traditions, recipes, and activities all in one fabulous 230-page book! It opens with scriptures detailing the prophecy and birth of Christ from both the Bible and Book of Mormon. My kids were excited about reading the Christmas stories. I was ready to try the recipes and gift ideas for our neighbors. I love the section, “Christmas Around The World,” to learn about how others celebrate this season. Some of the classic stories are told in this book, including “The Gift of the Magi” and “The Elves and the Shoemaker.” This is a wonderfully well-done storybook that will be read and used for many Christmas seasons to come!

Words of Christmas

In my opinion:

I reviewed “Words of Christmas, Savoring the True Meaning of the Season One Word at a Time.” With a word a day, “Words of Christmas” helps share a short devotional and associated scripture, whether from the Bible, the Book of Mormon or the Doctrine and Covenants, to help focus the Christmas season on Jesus Christ.

In our home, we have a Christmas devotional every morning during the month of December, in which we sing a song, read a scripture and tell a story related to Christmas. This book is perfect for our tradition! One of my favorite advent words from the book is Charity because we were able to expound on the meaning of giving gifts and service by reading the scripture, talking about how it applies to our lives, and taking action by helping a neighbor in need. Other words include those pertaining to the Nativity; as well as words that describe Christmastime, such as traditions, peace, joy and celebrate.

I recommend using this book as an advent. This is a simple and effective way to help refocus the season by reading a short explanation and associated scripture of words that pertain to the meaning of Christmas.

In my opinion:

I reviewed “A Songbook for LDS Families.” This book honors the musical legacy of Janice Kapp Perry. I remember listening to her music when I was a teenager, and now I enjoy playing her CD’s for my own kids! In fact, one of my daughters had the opportunity to sing and record Perry’s song, “A Child’s Prayer,” with the One Voice Children’s Choir, specifically for this book. I love how this songbook includes two CD’s, as well as the beautiful pictures and stories throughout the book. I have two children who have played the piano and are excited to try out some of these songs. We use this book for family home evenings, and to bring the spirit into our home with music.

In my opinion:

I reviewed “He Knows My Name.” This is a short movie about a girl named Rebekah, who is fascinated by the man her neighbors know as Jesus, and wants to hear all He has to say. But her mother wants Rebekah to keep her distance from this man others label a heretic. Rebekah is persistent, and one day she brings Jesus home to meet her mother and grandfather- a simple act that will change all their lives.

This is an excellent movie that portrays the love Jesus has for us, particularly little children. It is an enlightening and spiritual movie that offers hope. I love the miracles Jesus performs in Rebekah’s home. This movie will be a perfect addition to your home for the Christmas and Easter holidays, and can be enjoyed throughout the year. It has a beautiful message about Jesus’ healing power when you put your faith in him.

This review is for “No Ordinary Shepherd.” This is a DVD about a young shepherd boy, who was crippled in a terrible accident and has faith in the Savior, Jesus Christ. On the anniversary of the starlit night in which his father had told him about so many times before, he meets a gentle stranger in the hills and encounters a miracle of his own.

I enjoyed watching this with my family. They were interested in the story line and had several questions through out about the Savior and the miracles he gave the young shepherd boy. This is a heartwarming short tale that I intend on watching every Christmastime. It will surely strengthen your testimony of our Savior, a great reminder for Christmas and anytime of the year!

It isn't hard to love the stories Dean Hughes writes. He is one of my favorite authors. Hughes always has a way to capture your attention. Home and away was a short story about a family who struggled during World War II. They had to be super careful with their money. And, they had a son on the front lines of the battle in Europe.
The story goes back and forth between the two oldest sons, Dennis and Glen. I loved reading about Dennis, a sixteen year old who struggled to help his family as well as fit in as a teenager. He also worked to earn money to buy his mother something really nice. That part was touching. As I read, I wanted to help the Hayes family. I wanted to be the woman in the store who created a miracle for Dennis. I felt connected. Then the story switched over to Glen and you could get a glimpse on what it was like during World War II. Will the family ever see Glen again?
I love this time of year when service is done and there is more love for others. It seems that people are kinder, helpful and happier. Home and Away is a wonderful Christmas story and I definitely recommend it especially during this Christmas season.

In my opinion:
Monkey Up is definitely a kid friendly film and my five year old son loved it. After it was done he said, "I really like that monkey show." Honestly, at first I was afraid to watch because of the cheesy beginning. But, as I continued watching I felt connected to the mom. She was forgetful and even put eggs in the oven without realizing her mistake. It helped me realize that we are not perfect. We make mistakes as mothers. We balance a lot and sometimes we need to sit back and relax.
Monkey Up was a cute story about a little girl named Sophie who gets a doll house with Monty the monkey inside. Monty the monkey was an precocious actor hoping to go far as a movie star. He had big dreams and fate allowed him to be apart of Sophie's family. He ends up helping everyone and becomes a rescuer to the family crisis. I wasn't a fan of some of the music and it was a little ridiculous at times but it was a good family friendly movie. I know your kids will enjoy it. They may even dance to the music like my son did.

In my opinion:
I was give the opportunity of reviewing an eBook exclusive of Heir to Edenbrooke and I read it twice. It is a quick prequel novelette. It was interesting to read Phillip's story and I enjoyed it so much. I always like it when a story is redone in another character's voice. Phillip definitely learned a lot. He thought he had it all figured out until his brother died. Sometimes...well a lot of times we don't know what will occur in our own lives but we make the most of it. It was a welcome call to Phillip that a damsel in distress wasn't asking for help to get close to him. Instead, he finds a woman who actually needs help and doesn't think he is a gentleman. The relationship that Phillip and Marianne discover was wonderful brought a smile to my face. I know you will enjoy Heir to Edenbrooke too so definitely go get a copy for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

In my opinion:
I love the idea of GlowCicle but I'm confused on why it was presented in the winter time. I guess if you live in California, Arizona or Florida, you would eat these now. However, I still eat ice cream during the winter so I guess it doesn't matter.
These GlowCicles were fabulous! I love that there were a variety of flavors. We were given a sampler kit in a large pick up sticks container. There were four different flavors and six glow sticks. The instructions were simple and the glow sticks acted like a warm handle while eating the GlowCicle pop.

I'm a huge fan of Annie's knitting pattern books. These books are

beautifully written and I love the layout. Also, I love the darling

photos of the little models wearing each hat. It would be so cool to

be one of the designers for Annie's Signature Designs.

In this book, there are 12 patterns of the cutest baby hats. Each

pattern has a skill level, size, finished measurements, gauge,

special abbreviation and pattern. I love how each of Annie's

knitting pattern books has a page with a picture of each pattern. It

is easier to find a favorite and get to work because the page

number is also included. My favorite patterns are Sweet Stripes

and Angelique. Also included are special techniques and knitting

basics. I definitely recommend any of Annie's Knitting books

because they are easy to follow and everything you need to know

is included.

In my opinion:

Have you ever tried knitting on a circle loom? I haven't and now I

want to since looking over Annie's knitting book: Knit Caps on

Circle Looms. It is much faster than using two knitting needles.

But, it is whatever you prefer. I like using two knitting needles

because I can also watch a show without looking at my work...well

sometimes if my stocking isn't too difficult.

I'm in love with the Parisian Flair Beanie, Spirited Earflap Hat and

Fido's Hat. Super cute designs are included in this book and I was

quite impressed that these were all made from using a circle loom.

This book does include Loom techniques which I needed to

understand how to make these beautiful hats. I thought Denise

Layman, the designer did a fabulous job and I loved her designs.

In my opinion:

Honestly, it was a little harder for me to get into Naya's Arctic Adventures. There were 18 episodes. They were short episodes with no real words or dialogue but a few grunts. I didn't know who the characters were. I wanted to learn more about each one and actually know their names. I guess it is left to your imagination. Also, in each episode, the group learn about a new object which was foreign to them but not to us. They end up using the way that we use them so that was interesting. It was fun to see what new object they find.

Here are a few of Eli's (my five year old) comments:

"Mommy, that polar bear threw a snowball at my face." It is true. A polar bear does throw a snowball at the screen before each episode starts so be aware.

"This is kinda really funny."

"Where is the daddy?"

"Is this a Christmas movie cause there is a reindeer dog in it."

Overall, it is a film for children to enjoy as long as they don't care that it is silent. I guess, there is more communication between parents and kids as they enjoy watching together.

The Snowman was a wordless story about a boy who builds a snowman which comes alive in his dreams. They went on adventures in the boy's home as well as to the snowman's home in the North Pole. My son, Eli had seen it before so he knew the ending. He watched till the end which made him sad to see the snowman melt. Yes, it was quite sad when the boy had to say goodbye to his friend. However, I reassured Eli that the boy could build another snowman and have more adventures together. Again, this DVD was silent with a few beautiful songs. I enjoyed watching it and will add it to our Christmas movie list.
Then we watched The Snowman and the snowdog which was about a different boy than The Snowman who moves to a new neighborhood. He discovers a box filled with a snowman making kit. He ends up using all of the snow in his backyard to build the snowman and a snowdog. It was hilarious to see the adventures snowmen could do like fly in an airplane or have a party. I don't know why I've never heard of The Snowman but I'm glad I had the opportunity of reviewing both tales. I definitely recommend these DVDs.

In my opinion:

I'm in love with When Calls the Heart and basically any show found on the Hallmark Channel. So, I was excited when I received When Calls the Heart Season 2 Box Set in the mail. You won't want to miss any episode! You will want to watch Season 2. There is so much going on and it only leaves you wanting more and more and more. There are more characters and more drama between several couples including Elizabeth and Jack. It does seem that Season 2 is completely different from Season 1 because it takes away the children and some of the other adults. It focuses more on Elizabeth and her family drama. But, it is still so good! And I love the relationship that Lee and Rosemary have. Super cute! The best part about When Calls the Heart is that it is clean and entertaining. It really is a fantastic show for the entire family to enjoy together. I definitely recommend it to anyone who loves shows like Little House on the Prairie or Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman.

In my opinion:

The six sisters always amaze me with their delicious recipes. I decided to dive right in and create one of their desserts. I went for the chocolate raspberry eclair cake and boy was it good. I didn't know how it would turn out but it was pretty amazing. In fact, I'm pretty sure I ate the entire thing. I think next time I'll make the chocolate frosting with cocoa powder. I didn't have any at the time so I used something else. It wasn't terrible but I do know I need to follow a recipe to get the results I want.

It isn't hard to fall in love with the six sisters. Their Sweets & Treats book is filled with desserts such as bars, brownies, movie night snacks, cookies, cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes, ice cream, pies and much much more. What I love about their book is they provide pictures of each dessert. Who doesn't want to see pictures? Also, their recipes are super easy to follow with only a few steps. I loved loved loved their new Sweets & Treats book. I definitely recommend it to anyone who loves desserts as much as I do.

In my opinion:
The Baby Strong Workout cards came at the right time in my life. I have a five month old and have been trying to get motivated to exercise. Life is pretty busy for me because I also have a two year old with disabilities and an active five year old boy. So, time is pretty important. What do I do with my time? How do I give enough time to each child? What can I do for myself as well because if I can't take care of me then I won't be able to take care of others. So, these cards were a great idea. First, they were bound with a teething ring which was hilarious. The only problem I had was it was hard to move the cards up and around the ring. So, I suggest a different ring. There was a "getting started" page where it explains the order of the cards. The cards are organized by focus: upper, lower, core, and total body. At the end are pre-made workouts. I found that was very useful especially the "pre-made workout" area. The only change I would make is the pre-made workout cards. They list several different workouts which you can find easily in the stack of cards. However, I don't want to take the time to try and find each workout. I would rather have each workout card in the same area. For example: Total Body Circuit Workout lists Baby Hinge, Serve the Baby, Pendulum Lunge, Chair Taps, Wall Sit Wall Angel, Tummy Twist, Reverse Lunge Kick and Chair Squat Side-to-Side Press Up. Then I have to look for each individual workout in the stack of cards. There are circles provided on the side with numbers. However, I would rather have each card there. Overall, I thought the cards provided some fun exercises that one can do with their child. My daughter loved the exercises. Plus, it gave us a bonding experience. She was smiling the entire time. She smiles a lot anyway but I could tell she was enjoying the time she had with me while I exercised for myself. I definitely recommend ordering your own set of Baby Strong Workout cards. This book was very unexpected as I flipped through the pages. However, it was remarkable how it all came together to create a lovely Bethlehem. It wasn't your typical 12 days to Christmas book. It was deep and beautifully written. This book was about forgiveness and the true meaning of Christmas. Honestly, I felt that it should have a cd of the author reading the story as well as some short Christmas songs. Overall, I highly recommend that you pick up a copy to share with your family. It could even be read during Family Home Evening or as one of the 24 books you use to countdown to Christmas. It was a spectacular story and should be shared with everyone.

In my opinion:

I feel that all knitters should have this book-The Knitter's Book of Knowledge by Debbie Bliss. She has compiled a ton of information about knitting so your unanswered questions will be answered. It is pretty much the best book out there and I've reviewed a ton of knitting books. It is also priced right for all of the information that is included. There is information about yarn, needles, and other things, first steps, understanding knitting, shaping, knitting in the round, knitting texture, color knitting, embellished knitting, finishing, designing knits and troubleshooting. I'm pretty sure she didn't leave anything out. It was designed beautifully from front to back.

I went immediately to the index and had questions about cable knitting. I would love to create a Christmas stocking with cables. Of course, there were a few pages on cables, crosses and twists so I was quite pleased. There were pictures too so that definitely helped me out. Overall, I highly recommend The Knitter's Book of Knowledge. It is full of surprises and you will be impressed with the step by step instructions on a variety of methods.

In my opinion:
Overall, I was pretty impressed with how much I learned about each dinosaur. Each book was the perfect size to fit inside your purse while you are at a doctor's appointment, in church or at other appointments where you need your child to sit for a minute. I loved the shape of each book. These books are perfect to put inside a Christmas stocking. I highly recommend the Mini Dinosaur books as your child will learn about four different dinosaurs. Get ready to explore!

In my opinion:
This was an outstanding film perfect for Christmas. I loved getting to know each character in this small town. I wanted to live among them. The people needed a miracle and when one gentleman named Matthew arrived, they thought he was the miracle maker. He didn't have much to offer except rocks. He was a hard worker and did all he could to help the people in Woodhaven. There were many things the townspeople needed and the miracle maker made it happen for them. He taught the town to believe.
There were many characters I enjoyed watching. Lilly was stuck in her home due to an accident. Her father thought he was protecting her but he was only hurting her from being with the one she loved. Gabriel's mother was ill but her character made me laugh. Will she ever leave her bed or will she stay there forever? Jenny and Elias own a store that is suffering. Will they be able to pay their rent and continue to sell supplies or will they struggle to meet ends meat? Overall, it was a powerful and touching story and I enjoyed it. I definitely recommend this movie to anyone. We can create our own miracles and become miracle makers in our communities.

In my opinion:

When Calls The Heart-Follow Your Heart episode was slightly disappointing in the beginning. Everything was going wrong for several characters and I felt so sad for them. I love a happy ending. I love when things go right but sometimes there are challenges we must fight through to get to the happily ever after.

In this episode, you will find Jack and Elizabeth disagreeing about their future together. Also, Rosemary and Lee struggle with their relationship. Lee begins to show interest in Molly which really makes Rosemary upset. Will she set him straight and let him know how she really feels? I didn't like Rosemary in the beginning because she was after Jack but I think she is hilarious and a kind hearted woman. She deserves the best! Another favorite character of mine is Abigail. I hope things go well for her and she finds true love without any challenges. Of course, there were other issues and drama with some of the other characters so this episode is worth watching especially if you have been watching all of the other episodes. I definitely recommend this episode. You will be surprised at the end as well.

Houdini Synopsis:

One day, Harry happens upon an opportunity of a lifetime--the New York mayor has announced a magic competition due to the official opening of the Statue of Liberty. However in order to try out, one must be trained by a real magician. Poor Harry doesn’t know a single one. As fate would have it, Harry’s father runs into the renowned town magician, the Great Tesla and he promises to see Harry. Despite the young boy’s lack of knowledge, Tesla sees potential in Harry and decides to give him a chance. He invites him to his home, accompanied by his niece, Beth, and his assistant Amrold. Will Harry have what it takes to make it as a true magician?

In my opinion:

I've been interested in magic since I went to Hollywood's Magic Castle for my twenty-first birthday. So, I definitely was interested in watching Houdini. This was a French feature length animated film about a young boy named Harry who became the greatest magician of all time. I enjoyed watching it with my five year old. It opened up the concept of magic and after watching the film, wanted to show me his own magic tricks. I was on the edge of my seat and hoping everything would work out for him. Of course, we know that he becomes a true magician but how. He goes through challenges and it didn't come easy for him. He had to work really hard to become what he dreamed of becoming. It was a well done film and I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

ABC Monsters

ABC Monsters Synopsis

Meet the ABC Monsters! They are big, hairy and not very scary. The ABC Monsters are on the loose and only Alice, Brian and Cherry Berry can catch them. Twenty-six cuddly ABC Monsters live within the walls of Capital Castle. Each monster represents a letter of the alphabet, but should any of the monsters go missing for longer than a day, all the letters will be wiped clean from every book in Capital Town, so it’s very important to make sure that all the ABC Monsters are always back in Alphabet Gardens before sundown. This isn’t as easy as it sounds. The ABC Monsters are curious and happy creatures so they tend to wander off from Alphabet Gardens and get lost in the process. In each adventure, Alice and her good friends Brian and Cherry Berry must search high and low for one of the missing monsters. Get set for a spellbinding series of magical adventures that engages preschool children’s imaginations, while making learning exciting and entertaining.
In my opinion:
My five year old loved ABC Monsters. It is definitely geared toward preschool aged children. In this DVD, children will learn the letters of the alphabet. There are adventures, songs and discoveries. As a parent, I wasn't a huge fan but after watching my five year old enjoying it, it became clear that it was an educational show. ABC Monsters also helps children learn about word building and phonic skills. If a DVD helps my child learn and engages their imagination, then I definitely recommend ABC Monsters.

Just Let Go is in select theatres and is a highly recommended film to watch. It is based on the inspirational true story of Chris Williams. Be sure to watch it. You won't be disappointed.

In my opinion:
Just let go" is a touching movie about Chris Williams, who survived a drunk driving accident that killed his pregnant wife and two kids. He struggles to 'just let go' and forgive the young man who caused it.

Actor Henry Ian Cusick (from Lost) does an excellent job of capturing the pain from losing loved ones. Brenda Vaccaro does an amazing job playing his mother in the film. The scripting, acting and direction all come together in an uplifting movie that is well worth experiencing! I loved this movie and was touched by the courage of this man who struggles to forgive and let go. I recommend this movie to all!!
