Good morning! I just want to take a quick moment to thank Bobbi Jo from http://sweetsassydiva.com/ for inviting me to be a guest designer today on her blog. This is my very first guest designer experience and I am thrilled to have been invited to participate. For those of you who don't know me, or are new to my blog, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Missie. I am a wife and mother of two little boys, a member of the Cricut Circle, a Close to my heart Independent Consultant, a part time college student, the wife of a pilot, a scrapbooker, a card maker and an all around crafter. I enjoy trying new things and crafting is my sanity at this point in my life. My blog CREATED BY MISSIE began in the fall of 2010 as a way for me to "journal" my projects; I'm proud of all the things I have been able to create and share in that time. Enough about me, time to share today's card. ; Bobbi Jo is challenging her guest designers to use hidden jounaling or pictures or elements in a layout or card. So, I created a card that has some fun hidden parts (not so hidden really). To create the card I used my Gypsy, French Mannor, George and basic shapes, and Life's a party cartridges. The front of the card is the wordrobe from FM, I used the hide contor feature to hide the door fronts to create a solid pannel, the used George to make a rectangle in the lighter brown color, the back to the G to use the wardrobe again, this time hidding the actual cabinet and cutting only the door fronts. I cut the rectangle in half to create the two doors then added the door front pieces. I created the card base in my G using George with a simple rectangle with a square cut out for the "window". I then lined the base up with the card front and carefully used an exacto knife to cut a matching square in the card front. I used a piece of plastic from a cartridge blister case and sandwiched it between the card front and the base, and glued it all together to create the "window" The doors were then attached to the front of the card with ribbon ( I cut slits in the card to attach the ribbon to the inside). Back to the cricut to cut two small rectangles that would become the drawers inside the cabinet. I embellished the drawers with pieces of ribbon to look like blankets hanging out of the drawers. I also added some bling for the drawer pulls. Back the cricut to cut the onsie from Life's a Party in pink. I then made a hanger for the onsie by carefully folding a paperclip to look like a hanger -clever, right? I typed the message on my computer for the inside, inked the edges with Close to My Heart ink, BLUSH. I added a ribbon to the front and a small tag to let the recipient know to open the cabinet. The tag was created using CTMH stamps. a few little embelishments to pull the whole thing together and there you have the finished card! I hope you enjoy!

My Girl!

This week at Sweet Sassy Diva the challenge is to create either a layout with hidden journaling (inside a pocket, flap or envelope) or a card with a hidden sentiment. I always have a ton of pictures of granddaughters and never enough room. I decided to make a two page layout with hidden photos. Although you see 4 photos on these two pages, there are actually 11. Now one of the problems with interactive pages is always what to do when you use plastic sheet covers. Well the trick is since the sheet covers open at the top you need to make your interaction at the top so it will slide in and out without having to remove the sheet. The paper I used for this two page layout I recently bought at my first trip to Hobby Lobby. It is a Crate Paper kit called Emma's Shoppe. I love the vintage feel. I loved the strip that said "The Little Irish Girl" since I am Irish. To start my layout I layout pics and move them around.

I look at papers I might use and lay them out. I knew the paper with medallions would be great to use in strips some how.

I used my Gypsy and Elegant Edges. This shape reminded me of the design in the paper above.

I cut the shape from page 70 at 10 inches in the exact center of the paper.

I now have two pieces to use. The outside frame and the inside shape.

Now I am ready to make a pocket for my hidden pictures. I used a 6 x 6 piece of scrap paper to try my cut. I used the Gypsy and the same shape cut at 4.5 x 3.67, After checking how the picture peeks out I moved the shape up a little.

I cut 3/4 inch strips to reinforce my pocket on three edges.

Folding strip in 1/2 and gluing down on both sides. Here is the back side.

Here is the front side.

Now what goes inside the pocket. A little 4 x 6 book made from two pieces of

4 x 12 and folded them in 1/2. I then punched two holes with my Crop A Dile and

strung with twine for a pull tab. I then added 8 pictures.

The pocket has two large decorative brads at the top and two small ones at the bottom.

I then placed a 4 inch strip of the medallion paper across the bottom to reinforce the bottom.

See the twine to pull the little book out? Also I added a little tag at the top that says Pull String.

I added some of the embellishments from the sticker and chipboard pages.

Winter Frolic Hidden Journaling

Lori here from ScrappinMyStressAway! This week's theme at Sweet Sassy Diva's is Hidden Journaling. I love hiding journaling on my page so I can fit more pictures!!

I received this Christmas card from my Aunt Chris and just LOVED it! My first thought was this could be a title for a layout!

I grabbed some papers from this paper pad.

These papers were my favorite for this project.

I lined the card with the green paper and then white cardstock to give me space for my journaling.

I used Winter Frolic and gold cardstock for my embellishments. I welded 3 ornament borders (top) sized to 2.14 inches and (bottom) 1.80 inches. I cut out the Phrase Making Spirits Bright at 2.24 inches. I cut out the tag at 3 inches and the ornament balls at 2.88 and 3.12 inches.

Here are my cuts.

I needed another picture here and really liked this photo of me, but not the red bow on my head!

So I covered it up with this ornament border!

I trimmed the bottom of the green page (Santa sack and toys) and adhered it to the bottom of this page. This page was a fun collection of photos of us being techy on Christmas Eve. My niece is playing on my tablet. My son is teaching my Sister-In-Law how to play Hangman with Friends on facebook with her friend (and my other niece joining in on her ipod touch). My SIL is also teaching my youngest how to play games on their tv.

I added some sheer gold ribbon for some texture.

Design Team Challenge - Hidden Journaling!

Good Morning! This is Jen from 3 Cats and a bug. This week SSD’s DT theme is hidden Journaling. It was great motivation to get working on baby shower pictures! I only used 3 cartridges on this LO, Doodlecharms, Disney-Pooh Font and Tags, Bags, Boxes and more. The snow globe {Doodlecharms} was cut @ 8. Pooh {Pooh Font} was cut @ 5 and flipped in Design Studio and the cookie jar was cut @ 3. The word baby was left overs from another project. The tag {T,B,B &M} was adjusted in Design Studio and cut @ 4 X 4.7.

The photo mats were cut @ 4.25 X 4.25, except for one, which was cut @ 4.25 X 8. I used my Scor Pal to score a line on the long photo mat @ 4.25. I added the photo to the front and red line tape to the outer edge of the backside to create my pocket. I added my tag inside the pocket before attaching it to the LO.

I used a sheet of circled paper and cut it in half and added it to the outside edges of my double pages. I then added a 1 X 12 blue border to the inside of each patterned paper. The snow globe was cut in half and then everything was glued down.

Hey there Daily Scrapper again well Misty for short LOL.

Today's layout is just for my daughter who loved to explore and learn at her old preschool. She enjoyed her friends and teacher so much. After a move she is now at a new school she loves also, but I know she misses her old friends.

I used Doodles Charms and Create a critter with Bazzil solids and Quick Qoutes Good Times patterned papers.

I love mixing and matching colors to make the elements. Because isn't a blue turtle just fun!!!!!!! I also used a bunch of white gel pen to add an extra boost to the colors.

The challenge this week was to create a layout the depicted a scene. These are layouts I do all the time so I decided to challenge myself and do one with my Imagine and as a 1 page layout. These pictures of my daughter and her best friends from her old preschool were perfect for the task.

I used several cartridges here, Best Friends, Enjoy the Seasons, and Imagine More.

My daughter is the one is the ladybug costume.

Hello everyone. Mindy here from Grammies Craft Room. This weeks challenge nearly had me sitting on the sidelines 'cause I'm not a scrapper.... I know, I know, how can that be??? I love making cards and other paper crafts, but I leave the scrapbooking to my daughters! But Bobbi Jo took pity on me and is allowing me to follow the Scene It challenge in my own way. So I decided to make a wall hanging. The base for this is a wooden plaque that I bought years ago from the Dollar Spot at Target. I put it on the shelf in the closet and pretty much forgot about it. Until this weekend when I decided to use it for this project.

See why am choosing to cover it up :) I started out by covering it with a pale blue, layering it with the rolling hills, house, tree, fence and grass. The tree is a stamp from Stampin Up that I cut out. The hearts are from a Stampin Up Punch I popped the birds up with dimensionals and added some white gel pen dots. I sponged the edges of the grass and the hills and did black stitching on the fence.

I think I am going to hang this in my craft room.... It could use a little wall treatment :) After seeing these pictures, I think I am going to be adding some stickles and glitter and maybe some glossy accents... It looks a bit to plain to me :) The details: House ~ Pop Up Neighborhood ~ 4 inches Fence ~ Pop Up Neighborhood ~ 1.6 inches Rolling Hills ~ Pop Up Neighborhood ~ 4 inches Grass ~ Paper Trimmings ~ 2.5 inches Birds ~ Holiday Cakes 1.5 inches. All paper is from Stampin Up So, do you have something put away that would make a good background for a scene using some of your favorite Cricut cartridges??? If you are a scrapper, then jump in with a one or 2 page 12 x 12 layout. But if you are layout challenged, like I am, then find something to cover with a scene of your choice. When you are finished, I hope you will put a link to your creation in the comment section so we can stop by and check it out !

Hello Sassy Diva followers. This week the DT was asked to create a scene of any theme. I was organizing a big pile of pictures and came across these adorable pics of my eldest granddaughter Katie at the park playing with her dad and then at the lake where we all went to feed the ducks. For my scene I decided to use the Cricut Cartridge Give a Hoot which I had not used yet even though I have had it for quite awhile. I took pictures while working on the layout but they have seemed to disappear. I do have the recipe however.

Here is the complete two page layout

The paper I used was an old stack by We R Memory Keepers called Rainbow.

For the first page the sun was cut from page 64 at 4 inches for all 3 layers.

The squirrels were cut from page 52 at 4 inches. They are one piece and I cut them apart to place the picture in the middle.

The grass was cut from page 65 at 1 1/2 inches (cut 5 times to cover both pages)

Beautiful World was cut from page 36 at 3 3/4 inches and cut apart so I could use title on both pages.

Used MS flower border punch and green ribbon from stash

Squirrels and sun embossed

Punched out flowers (Fiskar punch) and hand cut flowers from paper to add to grass

The tree was cut from page 67 at 5 inches and embossed. There are 3 layers.

Bird nest page 36 cut at 1 inch.

Duck and pond cut at 3 inches.

Many of the edges and embossing are chalked with Quick Quotes Chalk Blue Hawaiian and Green Envy

Hi this is Lori from ScrappinMyStressAway. This week at SweetSassyDiva's our theme is a Scene. I created a Pumpkin Patch Scene 2 page layout. Every fall, I take my daycare kids to The Bellevue Berry Farm and Pumpkin Patch near my house. We look forward to it every year!

This layout took me 3 days and (merging) two different ideas to complete!! I changed my mind so many times I lost count!

I started with this hill from Pop Up Neighborhood (found in the Accessory Function) sized at 5.00h x 11.49w. I copied a second scene and flipped it.

I opened up a new Layer and took the shift layer of the Accessory Function and put the hills on my mat twice. I flipped the second one.

I opened another Layer and put the Accessory Layers on it twice. This was the trees and trunks. I flipped the second layer. I positioned the pieces on my mat by color for easier cutting.

Once I cut out the hill layer (without the trees) and set them on my workspace, I thought there was too much sky showing. I cut another set of hills.

I needed some other pieces for my Pumpkin Patch, so I opened up an old file that I started but did not use. I tried to cut the wheat from Pop Up Neighborhood, but as you can see below the paper tore. I liked the barn, pull cart and the tractor. I thought I might use the pumpkins but changed my mind.

I went back to my first file and added these pumpkins from Pumpkin Carving. I welded two sets together (sized at 1.24 inches) to make a large border. I grabbed the cart and campfire from Old West, but ended up not using them. I found the Pumpkins from Chic and Scary and sized it to 6.32w x 2.18h so it would fit across the top of my 4x6 photo.

I journaled on the hay in the cart. I pop dotted the barn and some of the pumpkins.

I added twine across the bottom. I filled in the pumpkin border with some additional pumpkins.

I used some lime green stickles to color the stems on the pumpkins.

I have been saving this cloud paper for some time ~ glad I finally got to use it!! Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Crafty friends! Brenda here from Friends Craftin with Friends. I am thrilled to be guest designer today at Sweet Sassy Diva! Thank you for having me Bobbi Jo! For our challlenge we were asked to make a scene. My scene is from Christmas watching our DG open her presents from us. I used my Gypsy to lay out my overall design and yes, I do falter a little from it. lol

I also used my Gyspy along with my Imagine to print and cut out all my images. Here is my Imagine printing and cutting.

I then inked all my images before assembling them.

Here they are ready to go onto my lo now.

The carts that I used are: Country Life, Joys of the Season, Jolly Holidays, Imagine More, Imagine More Cards, Mr. Frosty and Kate's Kitchen. Here's my finished layout:

Good Morning! This is Jen from 3 Cats and a Bug. This week at SweetSassyDiva's the challenge is to do a scene LO. When I started this project, the LO I did is not what I had in mind. lol It just kind of worked out that way. My youngest son will probably not be real happy with me over posting this, poor kid.

To make a long story short (er), he was having a ton of problems with his car. We decided it was best to get rid of his old car and buy something with less problems. He certainly needs a reliable car with the baby on the way. So my son and husband went car shopping and he came home with a "Competition Orange" Ford Focus SVT. He was happy and it was reliable, so I was happy. Three weeks into owning this car, he was coming home one night about 8:30 after class and hit a deer. Didn't seem to be a lot of damage, so he continues on his way home. 15 minutes later, about 10 miles from home, he hits a huge Raccoon! In the space of 20 minutes two animals totaled his car! It wasn't actually a tow truck who hauled his car away, it was a flatbed, but the meaning is the same. Ok, so on with my LO.

I used Everyday paper dolls for the roads. I cut them out at 5 and instead of using yellow paper for the stripes in the road, I used yellow stickles. The paper is from an old DCWV paper pack.

I used Nates ABC's for the car and cut that at 5. I used Gypsy Wanderings for deer and cut that at 5 also.

The tow truck, from Nates ABC's was cut at 3.

The Raccoon came from Animal Kingdom and was cut at 5.

This week we were given a sketch to follow. I made two different cards, and neither one turned out looking like the sketch itself...however it is sketch inspired.

I sat and played for hours moving things around and trying to just get an idea. I divided it into different sheets of paper and so on. I finally decided that I was going to go with plain and simple...a good one for me right now. I also figured that we have Valentines coming up I would get a head start on getting a few of those cards made.

I chose a neutral grey background for the card. I divided the card using red ribbon that says I love you on it. The ribbon had a shiny surface to it that didn't go with style of card so I used my distress ink and dulled it out. I used the lacy labels cartridge to cut out the squares, love, and heart for the focal point of the card. The love section was cut at 2 in, and the heart and square was cut at 3in. I added the flower with a self stick gem, stamped the x's and o's. I outlined the LOVE with a gray marker to help it stand up off of the paper a bit....arranged and attached them and there is my card. *ingredients* DCWV neutral textured gray cardstock, old world stack, and a burgandy cricut cartridge...lacy labels self stick gems in red studio g flowers ribbon inks If you haven't checked out the Blitsy site, you are missing some great crafting deals! Brrrr! Its been super cold here the last few weeks. Right now its -25. We have also been hit with some more then average snow fall. I would say out in my yard right now we have around 5 feet of acumulation. Its fine with me tho. I love it! Valdez has roof top snow. That means the snow is as high as the roof tops! I am keeping busy with my little headwrap/hat business. I have been getting around an order a day. Its been great! I am also trying to make some extra for the craft bazaar I am doing in March. Plus being a mom, wife, domestic godess HAHAHAH I have not really had any time to stop and breath. This week I created a theme for our DT and I thought it would be fun to use a sketch and see how differenlty we all make it. My hubbs birthday was on the 5th and I used that opportunity to make him a card using the sketch. I think it is a lot harder to make a card for a guy then it is for a girl or for kids. But thats just me. Here is the sketch. I would love to give mad props to the owner of the sketch but I cant quite read the name on the bottom because I am doing this post from my phone with my new blogger app....

Picked out some manly paper. Used my Cricut to cut out the tree and the moose. Used a brown coffee filter to give it some texture and put it all togehter with some twine. One sketchy manly birthday card!

Hello everyone! Mindy from Grammies Craft Room with you today. The Challenge this week is to use a sketch, and the one that Jennifer provided is awesome. I'm sure I will be pulling it out often.

I started out by placing my border cuts - from Ribbons and Rosettes - on my Gypsy. The larger on is the 2 x 6 inch and the two smaller ones are 1 x 6 inch. I cut them out from 2 different papers, both from Hobby Lobby, to have a choice of layering,

Next I used Paper Trimmings for the square - sized at 2 inches and the corner which is 1.5 inches, cutting both in red and white cardstock. I only used the shadow cut for the corner, as once again I wanted it just a little to small for the cut to come out right. I ended up using the little hearts that were left on the mat from the 2 inch border, for the top layer of the corner.

I used heart stamps from Stampin Up on the patterned papers and punched out with the Stampin Up punch. The sentiment is also from SU and punched with their punches as well. The only other embellishments I used was Glossy Accents and some Tim Holz ink on the edges of the border cuts.

I used dimensionals to pop up the square, the corner and the sentiment.

Valentines Cards!

Hi all your crafty friends! Brenda here from Friends Craftin with Friends. I want to thank Bobbi Jo of Sweet Sassy Diva for having me today! For our challenge we were given a sketch to use. We could make anything we wanted, a layout, a card-whatever we wanted. So I decided to do a card-well 4 cards!

First I started out by deciding what size I wanted my cards to be and I thought that a 4x9 card would work great with the sketch. So I got my bases together. Then I gathered some papers from my stash. I believe all the pattern paper came from K&Co paper stacks I had in my stash. I also decided that Cricut cart I wanted to use for my die cuts. As you can see I chose Creat-A-Critter.

I started layering my first two layers on my card base. Colored card stock and pattern paper.

Then I started building my layers from the sketch.

Next I sized my critters and the base for my critters in my Gypsy. I used Lacy Labels for the base that my critters are sitting on. I stretched it to suit my needs on my card. Cut them all out and then cut out my critters and layers.

I assembled all my layers and popped my critters up on pop dots. I did my stamping that I wanted to do and added some stickles next. And there you have it, 4 Valentine cards ready to go to the grandchildren. The sketch made these cards so easy to do. I kept my die cuts simple as well so that made for quick cards as well. I hope that you will give sketches a try, they sure can take all the guess work out and make for quick cards and layouts!

Hi Lori from ScrappinMyStressAway! This week at SweetSassyDiva's our theme is a Sketchy Card.

This is the sketch.

I saw these little sheep on Winter Frolic and wanted to make a card for my Aunt Chris. She collects sheep. I cut the sheep out at 1 inch. I found the Square and Circle from Paper Trimmings. I sized the square at 2.73 inches and the circle at 2.06 inches.

I used black and white cardstock for the sheep. I used a piece of double sided cardstock from my stash for the square and circle.

I did not use the shadow of the sheep because I flipped over the double sided cardstock. I trimmed some strips from the double sided cardstock. I weaved the green one throught the loops on the square. This gave the illusion of grass. I pop-dotted the sheep on for dimension.

My collection of stamps is very limited, so I used my computer for the sentiment.

I printed out my sentiment onto white cardstock and used the same burgundy cardstock from the front of the card to mat it.

Skate, Spin, Soar!

Hey, it's Angie. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. Ours was wonderful....filled with my kiddo's and some amazing friends. Now it's time for cabin fever to kick in....and that being chased with spring fever. So our challenge is something pertaining to winter blues. I have a friend who's daughter has fallen in love with ice skating. So I thought that I would make her a wall hanging for her room. I got excited because I used my "celebrate with flourish" for the first time. (Even more exciting Jen didn't have to help me with the little details!)

This is the first of 2 skates cut. I cut them at 3 in...in misc. blues and white. I didn't like how plain they looked so I "glammed" them up.

I used my heat embosser and powders to make them sparkle...add a sparkly gem and there you have it. For the saying I talked to her Mama and we came up with "Skate, Spin, Soar" I used the storybook font on my gypsy and welded them together.

I started to put the sign together and it needed something more. I used plain white doilies and some alcohol inks as a mat for my skates.

Now for the assembly. I used a dark piece of blue cardstock. I inked the edges white to give it a frosted look. I also went against the normal and set it at a diamond instead of a square. When I started putting the pieces together I realized the words needed a bit more so I embossed them with a light blue powder and used a silver alcohol ink to give it a bit of a pop. I placed them all and then put them into a white frame.

I didn't like the plain white frame so I again pulled out alcohol inks in blue and silver and spruced it up a bit....so here is the finished project.

So there it is....my wall plaque. Get out and do something keep to fight those blues. recipe cricut cartridges...celebrate with flourish, story book Tim Holtz alcohol inks....blues and silver misc. papers in blue and white. heat embossing powders....blues and white 12 x 12 scrapbook frame

Design Team Challenge: Get Sketchy with it!

Good Morning!

This is Jen from 3 Cats and a Bug. This week at SweetSassyDiva's the DT is following a sketch.

I did two cards, but only because I really didn't like the first one. The drawback for me when that happens is that I don't take pictures during the process of making a new one. The first card, the ugly one lol, I used pinks and purples and weaved the ribbon through the border. The border (on both cards) was cut at 1.5 x 4.25 from MS Elegant. After weaving the ribbon through it, I ran it through my Xyron to hold everything in place.

I cut two pieces of paper at 4.25 x 1.75 and 4.25 x .75. I used some cuttle bug border embossing folders on both pieces. I also cut two smaller pieces at 1.75 x 1.75 and 1.75 X 2.75. The background piece was cut at 4.25 x 5.75. (The size is a bit odd because I have some envelopes that are smaller than normal.)

I cut a rose and it's layers from Walk in my Garden at 2.75 and added some stickles.

It's time to Celebrate!

Hello Sweet Sassy Diva bloggers Suzanne here! This week for the Design Team Challenge we were to design a card using the sketch below. I decided to make a card for my son in law since he has a special birthday coming up. I usually make him something related to baseball since he loves baseball but wanted to do something different this year. Here is the completed card. Sorry the colors are so strange. I am having a little trouble with my new camera and may have to take it back.

The paper I used was DCWV Tattered Times mat stack. I inked all the edges with Tim Holtz Distressed Ink Rusty Hinge.

The card is made from Kraft Paper 8 1/2 x 11 folded in 1/2.

I then cut another piece at 51/4 x 8 to glue the pieces to.

1,I used two different pieces. The piece at the top was cut in 2 pieces 2" x 5 1/4". The bottom piece was cut at 1/2", 1", 1/2" and 1 1/2 " x 5 1/4".

2. I then glued the pieces leaving a small space between each cut.

3, and 4. I decided that wasn't exactly what I wanted so I cut thin ribbon of cream and 2 colors of brown and wrapped it around backing piece.

5. I cut out two pieces from Elegant Edges. One 21/4" x 11/2" for birthday stamp

I also cut the same shape at 3" x 4" and 3 1/4 " x 4 1/4 " and pop dotted this piece once glued together.

I used Tim Holtz Chipboard letters and inked them with Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge Distressed Ink.
