The origin of the flan dates back to Rome, when they first started to keep chickens. It then passed to Europe after being conquered by the Romans. From Europe, Christopher Columbus brought the flan to Mexico and South America. I was surprised when I saw coffee flan and some other types including fruits like berries.

Flan Mexicano (Mexican Flan)

"Delicious flan, you will love it!"

Ingredients

· 1 cup white sugar

· 3 eggs

· 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

· 1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk

· 1 tablespoon Mexican vanilla extract

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt sugar until liquefied and golden in color. You are carmelizing the sugar.

It will take 20-30 minutes to get it to a smooth melted state.

Don't be tempted to taste it or you will burn your finger or tongue. Helpful tip: keep some Young Living Lavender essential oil or Lavaderm nearby in case you burn your finger. Http://yldist.com/Sweetsassydiva

Carefully pour hot syrup into a 9 inch round glass baking dish, turning the dish to evenly coat the bottom and sides. Set aside.

3. In a large bowl, beat eggs. Beat in condensed milk, evaporated milk and vanilla until smooth. Pour egg mixture into baking dish. Cover with aluminum foil.

4. Bake in preheated oven 60 minutes. Let cool completely.

Here is what it looked like when we took it out.

5. To serve, take a knife and go around the glass dish to release the flam. Then, carefully invert on serving plate with edges, when completely cool. Best to cool in fridge for four plus hours and serve chilled.

This dish was creamy and delicious. It was a bit too cooked at the edge of the custard, which is better to eat first than last. Other than that, I loved the flan.

COCONUT & AVOCADO GRASSHOPPER BARS

Free of grain, gluten, eggs, dairy & refined sugar.

MINT LAYER INGREDIENTS

1 Hass avocado

1/4 c. honey

6 T. coconut oil, melted

1 1/2 c. shredded unsweetened coconut

1-2 drops Young Living Peppermint essential oil (order at yldist.com/Sweetsassydiva )*

dash of salt

CHOCOLATE LAYER INGREDIENTS

1/4 c. coconut oil

2 T. honey

1/4 c. cocoa powder

1/4 t. vanilla extract (I like to make my own)

dash of salt

MINT LAYER INSTRUCTIONS

Line a 9×9 inch baking dish with foil. Place all ingredients in high powered blender (such as a Blendtec or Vitamix) or a food processor. Blend until smooth. (You can puree it if you want, but I like mine to have little flecks of coconut still.) Smooth mixture into prepared dish and stick in the freezer.

CHOCOLATE LAYER INSTRUCTIONS

In small saucepan, melt coconut oil and honey over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in remaining ingredients. Pour over chilled bottom layer and return to the freezer for about 15 minutes, or until the chocolate layer is hardened. Remove from foil and cut into bars. Store covered in the freezer.

The 75th anniversary of the craft and hobby association begins!

The hot trend seems to be water colors. Tim Holtz and prima are two among many offering up options. It just reminds me of the stamping up water color crayons and the water brush. Perhaps, it's what's old is new or maybe there's a new twist or angle as Tim Holtz likes to put his spin on things?

Either on trend or being pushed by a lot of marketing, it seems many are coming out with a plethora of planners. It appears that A5 is what most are offering.

I'm old school and used a Franklin planner. I tend to use my digital devices lately but, am leaning to a smaller pocket size Franklin covey as of late. I love the real leather offer. Even a plastic and cardboard planner from a new hybrid company set me back around $80. I thought I would check it out ESP as it had a rad color! Yep got me there!

It seems many companies are offering different papers, washi tapes and other accessories. The design teams are showing you how to craft into your calendar. I wonder if we can get away with this during a board meeting or at our work desk? Um excuse me mr bossman while I go grab my copics to color coordinate my schedule and timeline. I'm not sure if they're trying to bridge the gap with hybrid calendars. I know I still have stacks of pictures trapped digitally on my computer. Even Becky Higgins hasn't cracked the code for my back log.

Some of the companies offering calendar options are papers by graphic 45 in 12x12 and 8x8. Then, I've seen full on binders from the happy planner, Marion Smith, and Simple Stories. I am sure there are more. It seems there's a lot of companies jumping on board.

It's that time of the year where you reflect on what you accomplished and set goals for the new year.

I made some rice socks. Warm them up and add a drop of peppermint! Great for achy muscles! Or add lavender for relaxing and winding down before bedtime.

Tutorial instructions:

Buy a pair of socks, add 5-6 cups of white rice. You can tie the end of the sock into a knot. I think it looks better sewn.

Place in your microwave to warm up at 30 sec intervals until warm. Be careful not to get it too hot. Then, add a drop of peppermint or lavender essential oil.

Here are the benefits of this device:
1. It is very small and portable. It fits in your fist so you can carry it in a pocket or purse. Hello! Scanning on the go!
2. You can still scan animals and small children. It would actually be much easier with this device.
3. It runs from your smart phone and you can print the report from there or message or e-mail it to the person scanned.
4. This device also gives you an overall wellness score in its readout.
5. Like the Zyto Compass, it does reference oils and supplements.

Some other differences:
1. This device will not give you radically different readings, if you do subsequent scans in close succession.
2. This device can give you the top three choices you are scanned for or change the selection up to 10.
3. It is compatible with IOS and Android systems. For IOS you must be 8 or higher, for android it needs to be kit kat or higher.

It uses the same technology as the Zyto...GSR (galvanic skin response), but some additional technology that is used in medical devices and things that you are already familiar with like the FitBit (and similar devices) and also takes into account your BMI (body mass index).

This device is a little more affordable than the Zyto Compass and one convenient feature is that it is very portable. The device is held in the hand rather than the hand resting on a hand cradle. It operates from a Smart Phone (either iPhone or Android....with certain system requirements).
It is small and compact and wireless, that makes it very convenient and you could carry with you and we all have our cell phones, right?
It also gives you an overall wellness score and tests more than 200 bio-markers vs. 76 (for the Compass).

Here is a Harvest card using Country Life and Mystical Garden Imagine Patterns and Color Cartidge!

Recipe:

Forest green card stock

Country Life Cartridge

Mystical Garden Imagine Patterns and Color Cartridge

Brown/clear stickles

Grey Sticky pearls

Green ribbon

For this "Fall" card, Summer mixed original and Imagine cartridges. Green card stock made the 4.5x 6.5 card. I used the "stock images" on my Imagine to layer pattern paper (cut @ 4.5) and solid brown (cut @ 4). The wheat crop (cut @ 3.5) was made by just mixing different patterns from "mystical gardens". The words "Harvest" (cut @ .7) was again different patterns on this cartridge mixed together. The green ribbon was just taped along the top of the card and a knot was tied to form the bow. A mixture of brown and clear stickles to make it sparkle and to finish the card. See the added grey pearls in each corner. Enjoy and Happy Fall!

Witches brew

2 quarts fresh apple cider

1 orange, unpeeled and cut into slices

3 drops Lemon essential oil

1 drop Cinnamon Bark essential oil

1 drop Clove essential oil

1 drop Nutmeg essential oil

Cinnamon sticks, for serving

Combine apple cider, orange slices, and Young Living essential oils in a large pot and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes or more.

Discard orange slices.

Serve warm. Add 1–2 cinnamon sticks to individual cups when serving.

My kids absolutely love these and they're healthy, nutritious and a great breakfast or after school snack. They're loaded with great protein to boot! They're super yummy and moist! You will want to store in the fridge or make ahead and freeze some too!

Banana Muffins

3-4 medium bananas (mashed)

3/4 cup Young Living Blue Agave Natural Sweetener

1 egg

1/2 cup Greek yogurt

1 tsp. vanilla extract

1 cup young living einkorn flour

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp. baking soda

2 tsp. baking powder

1 cup oatmeal

1/2 cup young living chocolate pure protein complete

1/2 cup coconut oil (warmed)

1/4 cup flaxseed (ground)

1/4 cup young living organic wolfberries (reconstituted)

Combine all ingredients. Preheat oven to 350 F.

Scoop into muffin pan.

Bake 15-20 minutes until toothpick in center comes out clean.

Cool on wire rack. Makes approximately 24 cupcakes.

Blood stains remover

Yesterday, my sweet little girl came home with her brand new dress and leggings covered in blood from a nosebleed. She was so upset and scared when it happened plus, her new dress was covered. I have to admit I figured the outfit was a goner!

I decided to use that method again on this vibrant outfit. I let it soak, while I collected clothes to do a load. Then, I grabbed the thieves laundry detergent and rubbed it on the spots. I laundered it on cold and viola! I am amazed that the spots are gone! #happywinformom
