Chicks Dig me!

Good Morning!
This is Jen from 3 Cats and a Bug! This week at SweetSaddyDiva's the design team is doing anything that uses 3 or more Cricut cartridges. I went with the "or more" part and used 5 cartridges.

For Easter, my daughter bought my Grandson the cutest lil outfit! The shirt says "Chicks dig me" and he was so adorable in it. I had to buy him a huge bunny for Easter since he's too little for an Easter basket. So, on to my layout.

I cut out two different chicks, one from Easter 2010, cut @ 3 and one from A Child's Year, cut @ 4. I embossed the chick from ACY and debossed the other one and then colored it in.

I cut the bunny from Easter 2010, cut @ 6 and embossed that one also.

I added stickles to his ear, white enamel accents on his tail and black enamel accents for his eye.

Also from the Easter 2010 cartridge I cut out two eggs, cut @ 2.5. I added stickles, gems and used my viva decor pen to decorate them.

I cut the words "Dig Me" from Cindy Loo, cut at 3.5. I embossed the D and M, added stickles and a gem to decorate them. I also cut out a bow for the chick, cut @ 1 from Easter 2010 and added a matching gem to that.

I cut out the word Chicks from Straight From The Next, cut @ 3.5. I embossed the heart and used my white gel pen to decorate the letter.

For the grass I used MS Birthday Cakes Cartridge. I welded two pieces together, each cut @ 2 twice for both layers. I only wanted each piece to go 12 inches.

On the light green grass I used my thumb nails to curl up the tips. When I glued the two pieces together, I just ran a strip of glue on the bottom half so that the grass would still stick up. I did it the same way when I glued it to my background paper.

I created a banner with the Mike's from the Cricut cartridge Disney/Pixar - Best of Pixar. They were cut out at 3 1/2 inches.

I used some stampin up colored cardstock and patterned cardstock from cosmo cricket.

For the banner, I used the cricut cartridge All Mixed up. I also, used it to cut some circles on Mike's background.

I picked up some green tule to string up the banner.

Doesn't Mike just look so cool! When you go to Disney World, be sure to check out his show.

I'd like to say that the spikes were cut on the cricut but, I actually hand cut it.

Sandy Hook Elementary School

Design Team Challenge: Hidden Journaling

Lori here from ScrappinMyStressAway! This week's theme at Sweet Sassy Diva's is Hidden Journaling. I love hiding journaling on my page so I can fit more pictures!!

I received this Christmas card from my Aunt Chris and just LOVED it! My first thought was this could be a title for a layout!

I grabbed some papers from this paper pad.

These papers were my favorite for this project.

I lined the card with the green paper and then white cardstock to give me space for my journaling.

I used Winter Frolic and gold cardstock for my embellishments. I welded 3 ornament borders (top) sized to 2.14 inches and (bottom) 1.80 inches. I cut out the Phrase Making Spirits Bright at 2.24 inches. I cut out the tag at 3 inches and the ornament balls at 2.88 and 3.12 inches.

I needed another picture here and really liked this photo of me, but not the red bow on my head!

So I covered it up with this ornament border!

I trimmed the bottom of the green page (Santa sack and toys) and adhered it to the bottom of this page. This page was a fun collection of photos of us being techy on Christmas Eve. My niece is playing on my tablet. My son is teaching my Sister-In-Law how to play Hangman with Friends on facebook with her friend (and my other niece joining in on her ipod touch). My SIL is also teaching my youngest how to play games on their tv.

I added some sheer gold ribbon for some texture.

Well, I have been quite lately because I have been trying to organize my scraproom as well as destash some of my oh so many treasures. So, once again, I have some items that I thought I would see if any one of my friends here on sweetsassydiva.com would like to enjoy them.

can you believe one person can own that many stamp pads?! Oh and I have to add that they are all stampin up pads in classic and craft. I can't believe it myself either.

So, I have gone through the huge endeavor last night and today. Phew, I have a headache! lol Can you doubt that after seeing that interesting pile of boxes? :)

So, I googled and found a list of all the current and retired stamping up pads and made my way to organize and separate wheat I had. Of course I was not surprised to find out that I had some duplicates which I knew I did but, not to the level of which you will see shortly. So, to raise some cash for Christmas and my little boys birthday party this month, I am listing some for sale here. Hi my crafty friends, Brenda here and today at Sweet Sassy Diva we were asked to make a project for something we are grateful for. I was inspired by Cheri over at DJ's Sundries and Mary over at CardzTV. Mary inspired me to use the Artiste cart and make the 3D pumpkin but she added more layers. And even though I didn't do it the way she did, she did inspire me to do this. Now for the rest of my project I lifted from Cheri. She had an amazing idea and I went with it because I so loved it! She has an awesome video too for you to watch here, just scroll down a little and it will be there. Sooo, I started with the Ariste cart and cut out 16 3D pumpkins at 4.5 inches I think. Sorry I can't remember for sure. Because they have a slit in each one, I cut both. So 8 with the slit at the top and 8 with the slit at the bottom. Had this cart been in my Gypsy I would have hid the slits, but it's not so I didn't. lol But I did find that I like the slit on the bottom and not the top. So if you are going to use this pumpkin I would use the bottom slitted one. You can also use any scallop you like as long as you cut a flat bottom on them. I just happend to like that shape of the Artiste 3D one.

After cutting them all I folded them in half and dry embossed them. Also you will want to ink them at this stage too. Ink on the inside fold.

Next you will start gluing them together by stacking them.

Here's what it will look like after they are all stacked and spread out. I also wrapped hemp around a paper clip to use to hold a special little surprise.

Want to know what that special little surprise is??? It's a little mini to record what I am thankful for for many years! It will hold the years 2011 to 2019! I love that I can write what I am thankful for on each Thanksgiving! I'm starting with last year because it was a special year in that a son of mine came home for the first time in years and had Thanksgiving dinner with us. I took a tag from Plantin Schoolbook and welded them together. I put it on my matt diagonally because I wanted an extra tag and that was the only way to fit it on a 12x12 piece of cardstock.

I also cut two more sizes of tags not welded together for my layers. I took some old Creative Memoires Sticker letters and put my years and title on each tag.

Here's what it looks like all done. My leaves on my curly cues are from My Creative Time dies. I think it will be cute sitting on my table. I am going to enjoy writing what I'm thankful for each year!!

Hello crafty friends! I hope you are having a wonderful day so far. Brenda here and today is "turkey" day at Sweet Sassy Diva. Yes, I know it's not Thanksgiving yet. lol For this weeks theme I chose for my design team sisters to make anything with a turkey on it. So hence the turkey day! lol For my card I chose to do a criss cross easel card and I got this fabulous idea from Lorraine at Card Creations by Lorraine. She has a great video on her blog which you can find here and I will do a tutorial here for you as well. A very easy card to make and you can also put candy or other little goodies in the criss cross pocket. So are you ready to get started??? We are going to start with the criss cross part of our card first. Here we go!

My orginal card is a 6x6 card, but the card in my tutorial is a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 card. So I'm going to give you the size for the 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 card. Start with 3 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock. Cut each 5 1/2 x 11. Score 2 of these at 5 1/2 inches. Like this:

Now you are going to cut each of these 2 pieces like I have marked on the paper. You two full squares will be glued together ontop of each other after you cut the first square in have diagonal. And the second piece the same way but the opposite square. Clear as mud?? Hopefully the pics will make it clearer for you. Click on the pics to see them bigger.

This is what your two 5 1/2 x 11 inch paper should look like now. Now you are going to glue the two whole squares on top of one another.

This is what it will look like after you do that. This is where you are going to add your designer paper in the center square. Cut a 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 inch in the paper of your choice and adhere down.

Now you are going to bring you triangular flap over and glue down. Yes, I forgot my designer paper and had to tear it back open to put it in there. lol

Now you want to place your designer paper on your triangluar flap. So cut another 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 square and cut it in half diagonally. Use one of your triangle pieces to adhere to your triangular flap like this.

Now you are going to do the other side the same way only you have to put adhesive half way up the side too like this:

Glue on your designer paper once again and now your criss cross card is done up to this point. And you can decorate as you want.

Now you are ready to make your easel base. You should still have one piece of 5 1/2 x 11 piece of paper left. You are going to score that at 2 1/2 and 5 1/2. Fold as shown and then glue your criss cross base on. Finish off the base with something raised to hold the criss cross open.

And there you have it, easy peasy lemon squeezy! Now are you ready to see my turkey criss cross easel card? Here it is:

Hi my crafty friends! I hope who ever is in the path of Sandy will be safe! We are hunkered down and have the generator ready to go as we are supposed to get 60 - 80 MPH wind and may be without electric for a while. So I thought I'd better get my post ready!! Brenda here and this week at Sweet Sassy Diva my design team sister Lori gave us the challenge of party favors or party decorations. I went with a favor. Nothing here to do a tutorial on as it is all basic stuff cut, score and decorate. I cut my coffin off the CTMH Artiste cart on fit to page. I must say it is a pretty big size and holds a ton of candy! lol I also cute my skelton as well as the spider webs. I cut two skeltons because I wanted one on the botton of my coffin for when my guest eat the candy they will have a little surprise. Then I cut it again and cut off the arms and legs to glue to my lid to look like Fred Bones is trying to get out of the coffin. lol The smaller webs I cut at 1.20" and I like that they had some problems cutting because it looks like the webs have been disturbed, but the big one is good to go because momma spider is make suring no one distrubes that one! My spider came from I cut the eek out of the Artiste cart too and use glossy accents on it as well as my spider. I haven't glue my "eek" down or my spider down yet as the glossy accents is still wet in spots. I inked up my skelton legs and arms with vintage photo and barn red, to mimick dirt and dried blood on the bones. I filled iwth an assortment of candy and called it done! I hope you will get crafty for Halloween too. Looks like our Halloween night won't be happening depending on the hurricane. But that's ok, we want everyone safe and sound! Happy crafting!!!

It is Halloween week ~ time to pass out some treats!!! Lori from ScrappinMyStressAway here to share how I made my treats today!

I created two different treat containers using a Starbucks glass container and.......

a Crystal Lite drink plastic container.

I used this two sided paper from K and Company. I cut the paper into strips to go around each container.

I put this square pumpkin face on my Gypsy mat from Pumpkin Carving at 1.5 inches. One set of two were cut as is, and the other set of two I hid the eye and mouth cuts. I cut out the jack-o-lanterns in orange cardstock and the squares in yellow cardstock.

I originally planned on mounting the pumpkin squares on this scallop circle shape from Easter 2010 sized at 2.5 inches.

I cut one set of scallops out of the black side of the double sided paper. I also cut out a scallop out of orange and yellow cardstock to put on the back.

I adhered the strips of paper around my containers. The scallop circles covered too much if the strips of paper, so I modified my design. I trimmed some squares to back the pumpkins and used some washi tape for the stems.

I used my Creative Memories circle punch to punch out an eyeball and spider for my lids.

I used added some washi tape to my containers too!

Here's a fun idea to decorate the side panels of your front door. Using Cricut Cartridge Pumpkin Carvings, just design it on your gypsy, ccr or ds. Hide the outside square and size them to fit into 6x12 matts. Actually, I just placed them on my gypsy mat and hid the outside squares and placed 4 on a 12x12 piece of cardstock. Then, I took my paper trimmer and cut it down the middle making a 6x12 piece of paper at the end.

Here is a close up.

This could also be cut out of vinyl but, regular cardstock works wonderful.

Ornament!

Hello all my crafty friends, Brenda here today. This week on Sweet Sassy Diva my design team sister Misty gave us the challenge to use any die cutting system to make a project with this week. Soooo, I decided to go "old" school and use my Cuttlebug to make a very popular project that all Stampin' Up people want to know how to make. You see the fall/winter mini came out and right on the cover of the catalog is this gorgeous ornament. But my Cricut and Cameo people don't worry you can make this too using two different ornament dies from a Cricut cart or from the Cameo store that you buy your files from. So here we go, I am going to warn you though this is very pic heavy!!

Here is the ornament on the catalog that started it all:

I used the ornament Framelits dies to cut out 20 of each ornament, so you will have 40 in all. They remind of nesties and work the same way, they just don't emboss. I cut 2 paper strips at 2 1/4" for the small ornament and you can get 10 ornaments out of each strip for a total of 20. My larger strips are cut at 3" and you can get 5 larger ornament out of each strip, so you will need 4 of those to get 20 ornaments out of. Yes, my Cuttlebug plates are well loved! lol They are my orginal ones and my son gave me my Cuttlebug several years ago for Christmas.

Here are my shapes all cut out, I have two piles of 20 each.

Now you are going to fold your shapes in half but leaving 5 of each shape unfolded. You will have 5 piles of each ornament with 4 ornaments in each pile. 3 of them will be folded in half. If you are using double sided paper like I am, fold one ornament one with the pattern of choice so that it is on the inside and the other ornament fold the opposite way. Clear as mud, right?!

After you have them all folded in half you are going to start gluing. I used Zip dry because they gave me some time to "wiggle" around to line up well but drys fast enough that I don't have to wait long. You are going to take three of the same ornament and glue them together one like a book, then you will take the three and glue onto a whole ornament. This is one piece to your ornament, you will continue to do this until you have them all done.

This is what the front of your ornament will look like and then the back.

And here they are all done.

Now we are ready to assemble our ornament! You will need 1 1/2" inch circle, mine was slightly larger. You are going to take your 5 largest ornaments and arrange and glue them down to the circle like this:

Now you will need about 5- 4 inches of tule. You will wrap the tule around your finger and pinch the ends. I am now switching to hot glue to glue to finish assembling my ornament. Glue the tule in the middle of each ornament.

After you have all your tule glued down, you may have to trim is some. As you can see mine is too long, so I gave it a trim and now this is what your ornament should look like up to this point. Don't worry if you are not able to follow along with my directions, I will have a link for you to watch a video. I'm not the best at tutorials. lol

Now you are ready to attach the smaller ornaments to your tule. Now this ornament will not lay flat against the tule, it will slope like it is "sledding" down a slope.

Now you are ready for your rosette for in the center of your ornament. I used a Cuttlebug rosette die to cut my rosette. You can also do it by hand if you don't have a die. Glue your rosette to the center of your ornament and place any embellisments you would like on it. I put a crystal button with a flat back glass "pearl".

Here are some other ornament I have made stamping them. You can do them in any holiday you would like. I made a Halloween one to hang in my window. These are great to put on your presents this Christmas. All the girls in the family will be getting one of these this year for their tree. And as promised here is the link for the video on how to make these gorgeous ornaments.

Don't forget to finish off the back side of your ornament too. You can place a scallop on the back with a stamped sentiment, to and from or you can place another rosette on the back. This way your ornament will look beautiful if it gets turned around on your tree. Pumpkin Patch fun!

Hi this is Lori from ScrappinMyStressAway. I created a Pumpkin Patch Scene 2 page layout. Every fall, I take my daycare kids to The Bellevue Berry Farm and Pumpkin Patch near my house. We look forward to it every year!

This layout took me 3 days and (merging) two different ideas to complete!! I changed my mind so many times I lost count!

I started with this hill from Pop Up Neighborhood (found in the Accessory Function) sized at 5.00h x 11.49w. I copied a second scene and flipped it.

I opened up a new Layer and took the shift layer of the Accessory Function and put the hills on my mat twice. I flipped the second one.

I opened another Layer and put the Accessory Layers on it twice. This was the trees and trunks. I flipped the second layer. I positioned the pieces on my mat by color for easier cutting.

Once I cut out the hill layer (without the trees) and set them on my workspace, I thought there was too much sky showing. I cut another set of hills.

I needed some other pieces for my Pumpkin Patch, so I opened up an old file that I started but did not use. I tried to cut the wheat from Pop Up Neighborhood, but as you can see below the paper tore. I liked the barn, pull cart and the tractor. I thought I might use the pumpkins but changed my mind.

I went back to my first file and added these pumpkins from Pumpkin Carving. I welded two sets together (sized at 1.24 inches) to make a large border. I grabbed the cart and campfire from Old West, but ended up not using them. I found the Pumpkins from Chic and Scary and sized it to 6.32w x 2.18h so it would fit across the top of my 4x6 photo.

I journaled on the hay in the cart. I pop dotted the barn and some of the pumpkins.

I added twine across the bottom. I filled in the pumpkin border with some additional pumpkins.

I used some lime green stickles to color the stems on the pumpkins.

I have been saving this cloud paper for some time ~ glad I finally got to use it!! Thanks for stopping by!

On page 44 of the Cricut Cartridge Artiste, I cut the Accent 3 at 3.75" using the green dotted paper from the My Mind's Eye Totally Girl paper stack. I also cut the Always Artichoke cardstock base and assembled it gluing the two pieces together.

Be sure to cut them out at 3.75" each as well. They are programmed to cut out to the correct size as long as you select 3.75" on all the elements and keep the Real Dial Size OFF.

I cut a piece of white 8.5" x 11" paper in half and scored it down the middle of both pieces. This gives you the card base.

I cut the green 8.5" x 11" cardstock into 4 pieces with a little taken off two edges to give it a slight white border that will show around the card when glued to the card base.

I also took another paper from the My Mind's Eye Totally Girl paper stack and cut it a little smaller than the green cardstock base. This gives it an edge that will peek through. Be sure to ink all your pieces for an additional pop.

Glue all the pieces together with your favorite adhesive.

Place pop dots around the bottom side of the green cardstock to give it dimension to the card. Also, pop dots were used under the green cuts of the Accent 3.

Using the scraps from the cuts, I used the So Happy for You stamps set and stamped "Happy" and "Birthday" in brown ink. I punched it out using the Stampin' Up! punch 'Punch Word Window'. I then, used the Punch Modern Label and used the reverse side of the paper to get the white. Use the brown ink and a small sponge dauber or other small sponge to ink all the edges. I glued the two pieces together with some liquid adhesive and with pop dots placed it on top of the cricut cuts.

Inside you can stamp a favorite sentiment but, in this case I just used it to write a personal thank you note.

The final touch is a golden ribbon bow which I attached using a glue dot.

Here is a fun layout for this weeks use any cutter challenge over at SweetSassyDiva.com I used my cameo with a fun tag cut and two print and cuts for the watch and the title. I really love my cameo. It works great for elegant to fun and sassy. The uses are endless. I love making my own titles using any font on my computer. I love making simple and complex designs. The freedom of design is limited only to your imagination or the imagination of others with all the amazing ideas out there. :)

I recently recieved the Cricut cartridge Artiste and decided to use it for a thank you card.

Recipe:

Cricut Cartridge Artiste CTMH (Close to my Heart)
Cricut Expression 2 (or any cricut machine)
My Mind's Eye Totally Girl paper stack
Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration So Happy for You 123220
Stampin' Up! punches: Punch Word Window and Punch Modern Label
Stampin' Up! cardstock in whisper white and Regals Always Artichoke
Stampin' Up! brown ink
Ribbon
Pop dots
liquid adhesive
glue dot

On page 44 of the Cricut Cartridge Artiste, I cut the Accent 3 at 3.75" using the green dotted paper from the My Mind's Eye Totally Girl paper stack. I also cut the Always Artichoke cardstock base and assembled it gluing the two pieces together.

Be sure to cut them out at 3.75" each as well. They are programmed to cut out to the correct size as long as you select 3.75" on all the elements and keep the Real Dial Size OFF.

I cut a piece of white 8.5" x 11" paper in half and scored it down the middle of both pieces. This gives you the card base.

I cut the green 8.5" x 11" cardstock into 4 pieces with a little taken off two edges to give it a slight white border that will show around the card when glued to the card base.

I also took another paper from the My Mind's Eye Totally Girl paper stack and cut it a little smaller than the green cardstock base. This gives it an edge that will peek through. Be sure to ink all your pieces for an additional pop.

Glue all the pieces together with your favorite adhesive.

Place pop dots around the bottom side of the green cardstock to give it dimension to the card. Also, pop dots were used under the green cuts of the Accent 3.

Using the scraps from the cuts, I used the So Happy for You stamps set and stamped 'thanks' in brown ink. I punched it out using the Stampin' Up! punch 'Punch Word Window'. I then, used the Punch Modern Label and used the reverse side of the paper to get the white. Use the brown ink and a small sponge dauber or other small sponge to ink all the edges. I glued the two pieces together with some liquid adhesive and with pop dots placed it on top of the cricut cuts.

Inside you can stamp a favorite sentiment but, in this case I just used it to write a personal thank you note.

The final touch is a golden ribbon bow which I attached using a glue dot.

Hello my friends! Brenda here and breast cancer awareness is our theme at Sweet Sassy Diva. I really don't have a tutorial for you, but I do have one you can watch from someone else. lol I saw this tutorial and thought was a great idea for using up some scraps. We all have them right?! Some of us more than we need. Not mentioning any names or anything. lol Ok it's me!!! I swear I use my scraps all the time so why is it that they feel like they are mulitplying? Anyway my card uses the Cricut cart Calligraphy for the heart. I used my Gypsy and hide the outline line of the heart to get just the inside heart and then hide the inside line to get just the outside of the heart. Kinda like my shadow because this didn't have a shadow. I also welded the support ribbon from Stand and Salute to the inside heart and just placed a pale pink piece of card stock behind the opening and using some clear crystal I outline my support ribbon. My believe came from My Pink Stamper set of stamps. I also place 5 pearls on the left top and lower right sides of the card. Of course I used all scraps for this card except for the base, but still have a ton of scraps left. I just hand wrote the inside sentiment and used a Martha Steward punch for the heart border. On page 75 of the Cricut Cartridge Artiste, I cut the Father's Day card at 4.25" using the green dotted paper from the My Mind's Eye Totally Girl paper stack. I assemled the shirt and glued the two pieces together rather than using it as a card.

Using the Stampin' Up! journaling marker, I created faux stitches on the pocket.

I added a folded pocket square using a small piece of sheer white ribbon folded. I adhered it with a pop dot to give it dimension and some liquid adhesive to give it more staying power.

The tie is the reverse of the paper stack which was a white. If your paper stack was double sided, you could have a different pattern or quite easily cut it out on a different paper all together as it is a separate key.
