These pictures are from Mr.R of the North. He is using the Duralite Cellulose Board as walls for his DIY Swiftlet farm.

I had used it for some of my Swiftlet Farms. Not bad, but it chip off easily before plastering. A thick plastering on both sides is needed for good insulation. This is another alternative way to build Swiftlet farm besides relying on Light Weight Bricks. It is cost effective and easy to work with as it comes in various sizes and thickness.

使用樓梯作為相互洞。 (太狹窄了，寬度只有： 3.5尺)

(高音揚聲器的安排失敗。太少的高音揚聲器。中间沒有高音揚聲器。)

(板條是另外一个問題，青苔和真菌。看看那顏色。眼见為实。 )

(燕子喜欢在牆壁上修造的燕窝，而不是在板條上)

(第二個入口洞，太低了燕子很难潛如。錯誤的設計)

(樓梯已經太狹窄了。加了一根柱子更加糟糕)

看到L先生的燕屋农场這樣的情况真的很可悲。當我跨入到燕屋农场裡面时，我非常的惊讶。一切似乎都是不对的。屋内环境是个問題，燕屋农场的設計制約燕子的操縱，高音揚聲器和伴音系统設定也是个錯誤，板條和它的形成，也是錯誤的….. 还有很多很多。看看那些照片您就知道我的意思。眼见為实。

L先生幾乎等待了3個月的时间，才等到我参观他的燕屋农场。「我想您懇切的道歉，讓L先生久等了」。他已经打了好多次的电话给我，但是由于我的日程表是满满的。在他打了好多次的SOS電話之後，我终于驾车到了Johor看看我能如何幫到他。

他的燕屋农场位于頭等燕子區有大量的綠色(種植園)。地點是很好的，我沒有任何抱怨。它是一个獨立3層樓20x80'的燕屋农场。它开始了到現在已经差不多有3年的时间了。很可悲的是它只有少于10个燕窝。真的難以相信，在這樣好的地點…為什麼？您不會瞭解的，直到您有機會看到裡面。

它是由一位当地知名的顧問修造的。大廈的費用比我建一个3層樓20x80的收费更加昂貴，它不是便宜的。這个燕屋农场沒有使用保丽珑在磚头之間来穩定溫度，防热材料。不要紧…

設計是个問題。它使用楼梯来作為相互洞，让燕子可以飞到所有的层楼。楼梯是太狹窄的，燕子要回旋造成一个問題。

一些燕屋农场使用樓梯為相互洞，他們沒有任何的選擇，因為多數是商店單位。獨立燕屋农场就不同，我称它为按客戶需要而設計，並且我們可以決定相互洞的大小来適合我們的燕屋农场，並且找出它最適當的地方。我不明白为什么這位顧問没有實踐这一点。

為什麼要用楼梯来制約它，是那么的狹窄。或許….原因是1)节省費用和获取更多的利率2)不瞭解關於燕子飞行的行為。 3)贫乏在燕屋农场的知识和技能。由於相互洞(樓梯)是那么的狭窄，第二楼和底层是在完全的黑暗中，並且這是不會鼓勵燕子做燕窝的。第1楼是太亮的，而且也是很熱的，所以燕子是不會做燕窝的。

最使我驚奇的是，已经有證據的陳列了到底燕子真正地要什麼，但是L先生并沒有注意到它。有燕子造窝在入口洞附近的樓梯口的水泥墙壁上修造窝。那個地方不是太明亮也不是太暗的。我指出了给L先生和解釋给他知道為什麼这会發生。為什麼燕子選擇了這個地方而不是所有的层楼在燕屋农场。他被我搞糊涂了。

L先生然後回答了，「James我以為燕子喜欢黑暗，越黑暗越好」。我再问他，「您從那里學會的？」。 L先生回復了，「哦，建立這个燕屋农场的顧問说的」。

被修造燕窝的地方表明了燕屋农场的情况。我猜你們也许没有想到这一点。這特别是重要尤其是新的燕屋农场。從這裡我們可以瞭解並且知道燕屋农场是否对燕子有益或制約燕子的…哈…哈。

一切的东西在燕屋农场都代表一些事的，不管是燕子屎或造燕窝的地點等等。别輕视它。對于許多人這是一個正常的情景，但是給我這却是很重要的消息和反饋，它可以帮助我知道燕屋农场的環境是否需要調整。

现在L先生必須負擔那么昂贵的修補費用。它是一个主要的一個。沒有任何原因要再等待，因為我是非常肯定，在3-5年之后，那裡不會有太大的变化燕窝成長有，除非他修補燕屋农场。

Standalone Swiftlet farm " No Wonder it Fails".

It was sad to see Mr .L’s Bh in such condition. I was surprised when I step inside the Bh. Everything doesn’t seems well. The micro is a problem, the design restricted birds to maneuver, the tweeters and sound system set up are wrong, the Nesting planks and its formation are wrong too….etc. The list could go on and on. See the pictures you know what I mean. Seeing is believing.

Mr. L had waited for almost 3 months before I visit his Bh. “My sincere apology Mr.L” for letting you wait. He had called me earlier but my schedule was tight. After many SOS calls from him I finally drive down to Johor to see what I could do to help him.

His Bh is located in the Prime Birds Zone with plenty of green (Plantation). The location was good and I have no complains. It is a 3 storey 20x80’ standalone. It had operated for almost 3 years now. Sadly it has less than 10 nests. Unbelievable, in such good location…why? You won’t understand until you have the opportunity to see inside.

It was built by a well know local consultant. The cost of the building is not cheap, it is much more expensive than what I charge for a 20x80, 3 storey. This Bh don’t have Styrofoam insulation between bricks to stabilize the temperature. Never mind…

The design was a problem. It uses the stair case as the inter hole for birds to access all floors. The stair case is too narrow making maneuver a problem.

Some Bhs are using staircase as an inter hole because they don’t have a choice as most are shop lot units. Standalone is different which I call it custom design and made we can decide the size of the inter-hole to suit what we want and locate it at the most suitable place in the Bh. I don’t see why this consultant is not practicing this.

Why want to restrict it to the staircase which is so narrow. Perhaps….Reason being 1) to save cost and make more profit.2) don’t understand about birds flying behavior. 3) Poor knowledge and skills in swiftlet farming.

Because of the narrowness of the inter-hole (staircase) the second and ground floor were in total darkness and this won’t encourage birds to make nests. The 1^st floor was too bright and hot therefore birds won’t make nests as well.

What surprised me was there is a clear indication of evidence showing what birds really want but Mr.L didn’t notice it. There were nests built on the concrete of the staircase near the entrance hole. That area is neither too bright nor dark. I pointed it out to Mr.L and explained to him why this is happening. Why birds had chosen this area instead of all the floors in the Bh. He was blurred.

Mr.L then replied, “James I thought birds like it dark, the darker the better.” I asked him again, “who did you learn this from?”. Mr.L replied, “Oh the consultant who built this Bh said so.”

The places where the nests were built indicate the condition of a Bh. I guess many of you had never thought of that. This is really important especially for new Bhs. From here we would understand and know whether the Bh is Swiftlet friendly or Swiftlets restricted .ha.ha.

Everything in a Bh indicates something, be it bird’s dropping or nests location And etc . Don’t take it lightly. To many people this is just a normal scenario to me this is a vital information and feedback that could help me to know whether the environment of the Bh needs adjustment.

It is sad to see a Bh being built this way. Not a single thing in this Bh had followed the basic of swiftlet farming. The person who built this Bh only has one aim which is constructing a building not a Swiftlet farm.

So now Mr.L has to bear the heavy cost of revamping the Bh. It is going to be a major one. No point of waiting as I am very sure for the next 3-5 years there will not be any changes in nests growth, unless he revamp the Bh.

Some call it luck and faith but if a Bh is built without even following the basic then would luck and faith helps? I can assure you NO. Luck and faith only come when you have done your part, which as for the Bh it must have the basic of swiftlet farming in it from the location of the Inter-hole and entrance hole to the Bh’s design.

There are many Bhs out there facing the same problem like Mr.L’s Bh. Some just wait, some are too embarrass to seek help, some don’t even know that their Bhs are in trouble and etc.

Now I have to come out with a design plan to assist Mr.L to revamp his 3 storey 20x80 Bh.

So is Standalone hard to be successful which many claimed or they just didn't do it properly? See the pictures yourself then you know what I mean.

這就是我昨天從讀者接到的問題。我是無言的。

「James，我現在開始了我第2個的燕屋農場差不多有2個月的時間了。有30多堆的燕子屎，並且燕子屎的堆变得越來越大。我相信在一個月的時間會看到有些燕窩。我用完了Love Potion，前在今天寄一些給我，以便我能在這個週末使用它」。

從Mentakab的G先生有非常好的印象，在用了Love Potion在他的第1個燕屋農場之後。他是Love Potion的一名長期用戶。他的第1個燕屋農場用了Love Potion從2009年到現在。燕窩的數字現在是四個數位。在他第1個燕屋農場的同一排商店單位，有不少過8個燕屋農場。明显地他的燕屋農場是在所有之中最好的一個。最好的是，他所有的鄰居都在他開始燕屋農場之前開始的。

“Who says too many Bhs now and it is hard to do a successful Swiftlet farm?”

This was the question blasted at me by my reader who called yesterday. I was muted.

“James I have started my 2^nd Swiftlet farm for almost 2 months now. There are 30 + spots of Birds’ dropping and the patches are getting bigger and bigger. I would see some nests in a month time. I am running out of Love Potion please send it by today so that I could use it this weekend.”

Mr.G from Mentakab has impressive result after using Love Potion in his 1 st Bh. He is a regular user of Love potion. His 1^st Bh has been using Love Potion since 2009. The number of nest now is four digits. There are not less than 8 Bhs in the same roll of the 4 storey shop lot where his 1^st Bh is Located. Obviously his Bh is the best among all. Best of all his neighbors started theirs before his.

It is in the Middle of the towns that have many Bhs. It is a War Zone. In such places winner takes all loser left with nothing. Those who know what to do would prefer such places because they could lure young Birds from Bhs around there. If one could lure others Bh’s young birds and keep their existing birds he would be the king. In order to do this you must know what to do.

I have visited Mr.G’s Bh in 2009 and I did write about it. I’ve advice him to use Love potion and he was the first few who poured Love potion in to the humidifiers and now he is still doing it. In fact after using Love Potion for the first month he calls me and asks why there are so many white watery patches of droppings on the floors. He was curious as he had not seen this before. I told him that could be young birds that had visited your Bh. Now after 3 years of continuous using of Love potion Mr.G’s Bh is one of the top in that town.

“Sifu James thanks for your advice and guidance. Yesterday I’ve visited a friend’s Bh which had operated for 1 year, there is only 1 small patch of dropping. I had hinted to him to use Love Potion but he doesn’t listen as he is using other type of Hormones. So I just kept quiet and let him learn the hard way.”

Mr. G’s new Bh is just located few blocks away from his current Bh. I had asked him why didn’t he invest in other places since he already had a successful Bh here. His reply was, “I know the techniques here and I know what the birds here wants. I can lure them to my Bhs with the help of your Love potion and the Gs and Hypnotic sound.”

He is brilliant, a smart guy, he has finally learned. This is way to do it I strongly agree with him.

He also questioned me… “James what did you record in your powerful sound?” As he could see from the CCTV that young birds glued to the tweeters. “That is a secret..ha.ha..ha I replied”.

Mr.G told me that he won’t tell his friends or advice them what to do or to use Love potion until he see them “cry till no more tears”.

I asked him why? He replied, “Let them learn the hard way and after that they will appreciate it. I have started with knowing nothing .No one came and advice me all kept it a secret until I met you Sifu James.”

Now Mr.G is talking few years back he can’t even differentiate between Internal and external sound. Now he knows so much about Swiftlet farming and could advice others….only when he sees them “crying till no more tears” . He got a point here I guess by this way a person would learned and remember it for life. If knowledge and skills come too easy people just don’t appreciate it.

I am very happy to know that Love potion and the GS sound had helped many Bhs and hope those who had succeeded would continue to help and advice others.

防止貓頭鷹進入燕屋農場的神話

防止貓頭鷹进入燕屋農場的神話（通常都是行不通的)

( 1) 安裝荧光灯在入口洞(貓頭鷹已經習慣了和沒有用途了。)

2) 安裝閃燈(強力的閃燈影響燕子的視覺，分秒之間使燕子看不見和這是可以致命的，因而使貓頭鷹更加容易的獵取它們。

3) 在入口洞之間的鉄柱或電線(它可以殺害燕子，因為在那快速的飛行速度100k/h尤其是傍晚回歸的期間，潛入燕屋農場的時候，燕子可能會撞到鉄柱。

4) 更小的入口洞(為新的燕屋農場不是那麽好地)

5) 電線(需要維護而卻只可以行的通如果它有高電壓，低電壓與步減是無效的。)

6) 老鼠陷井(它經常殺害燕子比貓頭鷹更多)

7) 漁網(同樣也許也是殺害燕子。

8) 還有許多.....

最好的就是看看以上的照片。它行的通..... 這裡不容易得到那些陷井。捉到了就在其他地方放它們。

The Myth of preventing Owls from entering Bh

I am sure you had taken advice from friends or those who you think that are real Sifu by installing gadgets on the entrance- hole hopping Owls won’t enter your Bh. The truth is most techniques that applied by most don’t work. It is more of a Myth to make you feel good rather than to prevent Owls from entering.

The Myth of preventing Owls from entering Bh (which doesn’t work)

1) Installing florescent light at entrance hole (Owl get immune and use to it.)

2) Spot lights( the strong spot light affect the visual of Swiftlets and cause seconds of blind which can be fatal and this make praying easy for Owls.

3) Bars or wires in-between Entrance hole (It kills birds because with the sheer speed of more than 100k/h diving into the hole during home coming the birds may bang on the bars.

4) Smaller entrance hole (Not good for new Bhs)

5) Electric wire (need maintenance and it only works on high voltage, low voltage with step-down is ineffective.)

6) Mouse traps (often it kills more Birds than Owls)

7) Fishing netting (the same may kill birds too.

8) Many more…..

The best see above pictures. It works….. Not easy to get those traps here. Catch and release them in other places.

好高质量深紅色的Meranti木板(為燕屋农场使用的)已经是过去了。我仍然记得那是几年前的时间，當时我还可以很容易的为我的燕屋农场找得到，在鋸木廠就可以得到那些深紅色的Meranti板條。我还可以選木板，尤其是那些最佳深紅(棕色)的板條，特别是老的木板。它們可以抵抗青苔和真菌，就算在一直有高湿度的燕屋农场。它們可以持續許多年就像那些老遺產木屋在Melaka和檳城。到今天它仍然站立着，就是因为那些大廈有优良品质的木板。

那些岁月已经过去了。我們的自然资源，木材已经耗盡了，許多樹被砍伐。樹变得越来越小，那些淡色的木板就顯示出来。

在几年后的将来，现在3或4分級的Meranti將被认為第1级的。這完全是归结于缺乏。上星期我为燕屋农场订了好几噸的Meranti木板，很明顯地那些木板根本不可以与我以前買的那些比较了。顏色变得更浅。堅硬的木板現在很難找得到，归结于过分的開發。

我告诉那个買家「如果您不想要它，我現在可以保證您下個月进來的一批不會比现在的好」就是这样，更多的燕屋农场没有的選擇，只是使用什麼可以得到的。

他为他将要好的燕屋农场，到处搜尋Meranti。他已经去过了他所认识的許多鋸木廠，但是他可以得到最佳的質量，莫名其妙地还是不可能匹配我所有的。

他对低质量的木板有壞經驗，經常在6個月到1年的时间内，青苔和真菌激昂生长在木板上。想像下您花費了那么多的努力和金錢，在您夢想的燕屋农场里，一旦燕子要開始停留，然后您發現板條上開始有真菌問題。如果您使用了好的板條，那不是更好吗？

超过80%在馬來西亞的燕屋农场使用低等級的Meranti，莫名其妙地之后一定有真菌的問題的。原因是：

1) 他們不會區別和區分在好和低地级的Meranti之間。 (技術上，所有的燕屋农场都是使用Meranti，或他們称它为Meranti，但是它有許多类型和風格的Meranti。一些是可以为燕屋农场的用途，但是一些却不适用于燕屋农场。)

使用正確的板條，因為這是燕子修造燕窝的地方。您可以称它們为難討好，但是誰想要修造燕窝在粉狀被真菌騷擾的板條上呢？

您可以最佳設計的燕屋农场，有最完美的屋内环境或最佳的伴音系统，但是，如果板條发生故障整个燕屋农场都变成失敗。

就好像我提及了，除了Meranti，有其他类型的木板是您可以作為築窝的板條，但是它標準是：

1) 無氣味

2) 没有真菌和青苔

3) 是老木頭(比较好)

4) 不容易有裂縫

5) 抵抗昆蟲和白蟻

6) 乾燥和不会吸收潮濕

7) 很小的毛孔

8) 还有许多，許多.......

有心理準備，好的深紅meranti很快就成为歷史了。在那来之前，現在就赶快得到最佳的板條。

Good Dark Red Meranti is Harder to Find.

The days of good high quality Dark red Meranti wood planks ( for Bhs ) are gone. I still remember few years back when I was building Bhs I could easily get those Dark Red Meranti Planks from Sawmills. I could choose them there are plenty only the best Dark Red (brown) planks are taken especially the old ones. They resist fungus and mold even with constant high humidity in Bh. They will last for many years just like those old heritage wood houses in Melaka and Penang. They still stand today because of the good quality wood in those buildings.

Those days are gone. Our natural resources, timbers are depleting, many trees have been fell. Trees are getting smaller and smaller and the light color of the wood shows that.

In few years time from now the 3 or 4 graded Meranti would be considered 1^st grade. This is due to scarcity. Last week I did order many tons of Meranti for Bhs obviously I can’t compare them with those that I had bought before. The colors are getting lighter. Hard woods are hard to find now due to over exploitation.

I told one buyer “If you don’t want it now I could assure you that the batches that come in next month wouldn’t be as good as the current one” As it goes more Bhs have no choice but to use what is available.

He has been searching high and low for good grade Meranti for his soon to be Bh. He has visited many Sawmills that he knows but somehow the best quality that he could get can’t match what I am having.

He have had bad experiences with Low quality woods often within 6 months to 1 years fungus and mold grow on them. Imagine you had spent so much effort and money in your dream Bh and birds started to stay and you discovered the planks start to have fungus problem. Wouldn’t it be good if you had used good planks?

More than 80% of Bhs in Malaysia are using Low graded Meranti which somehow later would have fungus and mold problem. Reason being:

1) They do not know how to distinguish and differentiate between good and low grade Meranti . (Technically all are using Meranti or they called it Meranti but there are many type of Meranti and genre. Some could be use for Bhs and some are not suitable for Bhs.)

2) Contractor and Consultant won’t give you Good grade Meranti because this would reduce their profit. (They knew that you won’t know the differences between the good and bad ones. Even if you do that would be a year from now.)

3) Contractor and Consultant have little knowledge about the importance of good woods Plank. To them all are the same. Let me ask you, are all Bhs the same? Definitely not If it is the same we won’t have failed Bhs and Successful Bhs. So remember that not all planks or Meranti are the same.

4) Unable to find and source good plank.

It is not that all Bhs can’t use low grade Meranti. With the Low Grade Meranti the Rh has to be below 70% at all time. We know at 70% Rh it is not good for the nests and it won’t attract birds to stay and make nests. With such control you may not have fungus & mold problems but at the same time you may lose all the birds as well.

Gets the right nesting planks, because this is the place where the birds build nests. You could call them choosy but who wants to build nests on powdery fungus infested planks?

You could have the best design Bh with good micro or best sound system but if the planks fail the whole Bh fail as well.

As I had mentioned before there are other types of woods beside Meranti could be use as Nesting Planks but the criteria are:

1) Odorless

2) Fungus and mold free

3) are of old wood (preferable)

4) Not easily crack

5) Resists to Insect and termites

6) Dry and low moist absorption

7) With small pores

8) Many more…….

So be prepared good Dark Red meranti would soon be history. Before that comes get the best planks now.

柴璽：大馬成功消除恐懼燕窩4月可進中國

（吉隆坡4日訊）隨著大馬成功消除中國對燕窩亞銷酸鹽含量的恐懼之后，預計本地燕窩將可以在4月恢復入口中國。

　中國駐馬大使柴璽說，隨著馬中政府努力讓多項行業重回軌道，兩國貿易放緩的情況，預計在今年首季好轉。

　他指出，一支來自中國國家質量監督檢驗單位的專家團隊，已于12月28日抵達大馬，並花了5天，與大馬衛生部共同鑒定燕窩的亞硝酸鹽含量的標準。

　“他們鑒定了中國可以接受的燕窩亞硝酸鹽含量標準。”

　柴璽接受《新海峽時報》訪問時說，大馬農業及農基工業部也會盡快派出一支隊伍到中國，處理釐清亞銷酸鹽含量的課題。

　他說，隨著首相拿督斯里納吉于去年10月與中國總理溫家寶，在南寧會面時同意解決有關問題后，兩國政府已朝這方向努力。

　“我們了解到只有解決亞硝酸鹽含量超標問題后，馬來西亞燕窩業才能蓬勃發展，我們也知道涉及這個行業的大多數都是華裔。”
中國沒禁大馬燕窩

　去年7月，中國媒體揭發假血燕課題，這些燕窩還含有超量亞硝酸鹽。一些不法商人用燕子糞便將廉價燕窩熏至血紅色，當作血燕出售，但這種血燕含有超量的亞硝酸鹽，食用后對健康危害極大。

　較后，中國當局也加強對馬來西亞燕窩入口管制，針對此事，柴璽說，中國政府並沒有禁止大馬燕窩入口到中國，自去年7月后，仍有燕窩能繼續入口到當地。

　“我們只是更加注意從馬來西亞入口的燕窩，防止一些質量低劣的產業進入中國市場。”
　他說，馬來西亞燕窩的售價可以高達每盒1萬令吉，甚至比黃金更昂貴。

燕窩商聯會未接通知

報導：薛淑敏

　馬來西亞燕窩商聯合會會長拿督馬興松說，公會尚未接獲燕窩恢復入口中國消息；若消息屬實，對同業而言，將是一件大喜訊。

　“目前我們僅從報章上得知此消息，還沒有收到正式通知，雖然（燕窩）來不及在農曆新年前出口至中國，但對于業者而言，仍是一項好消息。”

　他今日接受《中國報》電訪時說，燕窩是新年送禮佳品，可是卻因為燕窩風波，令燕窩嚴重滯銷。

　馬興松指出，大馬的燕窩，有90%是出口至中國，中國政府禁止燕窩進口的措施，對業者的影響巨大。

　“此負面消息也令本地消費者對燕窩失去信心，我們需要有中國對燕窩指標來挽回本地及外國消費者信心。”

　另外，馬興松也感謝中國駐馬大使柴璽，對于燕窩課題關注及幫助。
　“衛生部說過，中國要低調處理燕窩課題，所以我們雖然重視此課題，卻不能一直去打擾他們。”

　針對中國政府曾派遣專家團隊來馬，與衛生部共同鑒定燕窩的亞硝酸鹽含量標準時，馬興松指出，公會知道此事，但中國政府要求低調處理，不可渲染此事。

何其琛：趕不及春節上架未知亞硝酸鹽標準

馬來西亞燕窩出口商公會歡迎中國同意讓大馬燕窩在今年4月重新入口，讓燕窩業重見曙光。
　該公會會長何其琛向《中國報》說，雖然這意味著大馬燕窩無法趕在春節前重新在中國市場上架，但商家也希望能夠趕上其他送禮佳節，例如中秋節。

　他說，衛生部長拿督斯里廖中萊去年11月訪問中國時，曾表明希望讓本地燕窩趕在春節前恢復出口到中國，但卻一直沒有下文。

　“燕窩恢復出口到中國對我們來說是好消息，無論如何，既然錯過了春節的市場，那么我們就期盼接下來的佳節。”

　同時，他也希望衛生部盡快公佈馬中兩國都同意的燕窩亞硝酸鹽標準。

　“我們到現在都還不知道中國可以接受的亞硝酸鹽含量究竟是多少。”

　他也說，目前中國方面已有馬來西亞燕窩的訂單，只要中國當局一亮綠燈，就能把貨品運到中國。

控制屋内環境的小配件 (2012新年快樂)

祝所有的讀者新年快樂。希望在2012年裏您的燕屋農場將為您帶來好運和大量的燕窩。對于那些想開始燕屋農場的人2012將是一個大好年。還等什麼呢？越等越久就更加艱難了因爲有越來越多的燕屋農場。

在參觀了許多失敗的燕屋農場之後，我發現仍有有許多不正當地做的燕屋農場，不管是專家或新手修造的，兩者對燕屋農場的技能都很缺乏的，無法瞭解燕子要什麼而設計好的燕屋農場。

別希望只要您有一個大樓，打開一個洞和播放一些燕聲，燕屋農場立即被燕子居住，那是錯誤的悟性，它要的是更多。

就算您得到基本的屋内環境(溫度、濕度等等)正確，如果其他的因素之一不對：鋪板的形成、芳香、聲音等等(就講幾個)您的夢想燕屋農場可能仍然归入失敗的類別。

但是，很可悲的說，有許多的燕屋農場仍然沒有符合基本的标准，好的屋内環境要求。如果燕屋農場沒有恰當地被設計，即使它使用控制屋内環境的小配件像潤濕器，溫度控制傳感器、薄霧、排气扇等等它仍然也不會幫助的。

最重要的是得到基本的屋内環境正確。控制屋内環境的小配件是為了調整微小的差別，如果有一些較小的差距。太大的差別在這些小配件不會幫得了太大的忙。

控制屋内環境的小配件是不可能使燕子做燕窩或做一個成功的燕屋農場，但是它是用來彌補燕屋農場，使整個燕屋農場的環境變得更加完美。好的屋内環境吸引燕子停留和做窩，做优良品质的燕窩等等。

如果您明白以上的，您就不會很驚奇，當某人說「我有好的溫度和濕度，但是為什麼一年之後還是沒有燕窩呢？」因為您知道它需要的還更多。

因此一個理想的燕屋農場應該有好的屋内環境，而且好的屋内環境包含了所有的因素，從燕屋農場的設計到芳香。

Micro Control Gadgets (Happy New Year 2012)

Happy New Year to All readers. May the 2012 bring you fortune and plenty of Nests in your Swiftlet farms. For those who’ve wanted to start 2012 will be a great year. Why wait? The later the harder as there will be more and more Bhs coming up.

After having visited many failed Bhs, I discovered that there are still many Bhs being done wrongly, be it built by so called professional or novice both alike lack of swiftlet farming skills,

unable to understand what birds’ want and unable to design a good Bhs.

Don’t expect that once you have a building, opened a hole and play some birds sounds the Bh would instantly occupied with birds, that is a wrong perception it takes more than that.

Even you get the basic micro (Temp, Rh, etc) correct if one of the other factors fail like eg: planking formation, aroma, sound, etc (to name few) your dream Bh still could fall into the failed category.

But sad to say so many Bhs still didn’t meet the basic Standard Good micro Requirement. If a Bh is not designed correctly even if it uses Micro Control Gadgets like humidifier, temperature control sensor, mist, exhaust fan, etc it won’t help.

Most important get the basic micro right. The Micro Control Gadgets are for tuning up the Micro if there are some minor disparities. Too huge of a gap in disparity the gadgets won’t help.

Micro Control Gadgets are not for making birds to make nests or make a successful Bh but to complement the Bh’s micro thus making the environment goods. Good micros attract birds to stay and make nests, making good quality nest,etc.

If you understand the above you won’t be shocked when someone says “I’ve got the Temperature and Rh right why there is still no nest after 1 year?” because you knew it takes more than that.

So the ideal Bh should have good Micro and good Micro encompassed all aspects of Micro factors from Bh’s design to Aroma.

整個2011年的12月是一個忙碌的月。我必須參觀燕屋農場，修補和興建新的。我有设法找一個助理來帮助我的工作量，但是卻失敗。我不需要建筑工人或承包商，因爲我已經有很多了。我想要的是一個助理。學徒的工作最終將变成行業，在經過幾個月我的教學和教導之下，仍然我找不到匹配標準的一名適當的候選人。簡單主要的標準，誠實和慈悲… 我想這是最堅韌的標準。

從Selangor北部的M先生，在我可以參觀他的燕屋農場之前，已經等待了一個多月。他要我看看他那2年只有少量燕窩的燕屋農場。很抱歉M先生，我的道歉。他打了好多次電話給我，並且在這次參觀之前，在我的辦公室见過面了。我告訴了他我只可以在12月下旬看他的燕屋農場，如果他可以等待。如果他不可以等待，沒有義務，他總可以要求別人修補他的燕屋農場。那是我懇切的消息。

M先生抱怨燕子不會想要飛行入口孔。從他的觀察所有燕子飛行到環繞區，一旦它們到達了環繞區它們立即轉回頭。他想要知道為什麼？

现在許多修造或修補其他燕屋農場的人僅集中于賺取盈利。他們承担任何的工作，不管是修補或興建新的燕屋農場。他們的使命和宗旨完全是商品化和創造盈利。為顧客修造一個成功的燕屋農場变得次要，無論如何燕屋主不會知道。誰會關心呢？主要地變成无商业道德。金錢是主要的驱动力。

我很驚奇的看到M先生的燕屋農場。它不是一個商店單位。它是一個單獨的建築物，顶楼被改換成燕屋農場。因為它是一個添加的層樓，因此柱子和橫樑可以放在那些地點來容納燕子的飞行道路和設計。但是建立這個燕屋農場的人並沒有看見這一點。可能他完全都不知道關於燕屋農場或他是真正的騙局.......

環繞區的寬度是少過4尺，而卻那裡還有輕型磚被修造在牆壁來密封窗口。就算是新手都知道那是不必要的，因為環繞區是一個開阔的地方，在這裡防熱是浪費金錢，並且不為任何目的服务。

我們一起走入環繞區，M先生必須採取輪流才可以步行通过。否則我們的肩膀將彼此踫撞到。如果這可以发生在我們身上那麽燕子又如何？

那個人怎麼可以興建這样的燕屋農場，並且還收優質的價格。

環繞區是一個燕子可以操縱和減速的的地方，一旦它們进入燕屋農場。恶劣設計的環繞區或太小的環繞區將制約燕子因而造成它們回旋转回去。

建立了這個燕屋農場的人為什麼沒有體會到這一點？？？？建立這個燕屋農場的人不知道這是基本燕屋農場的設計嗎？

有許多錯誤從燕屋農場的設計到板條形成。高音揚聲器安排又是另外一個問題。 ….我認為把整個燕屋農場拆掉不是更好嗎，從新再建一個和重新開始。但是我不會那麽做，如果我可以搶救它我會盡量在最便宜，因為這將對M先生有很大的意義。

我很誠懇地告訴M先生，有許多的錯誤，如果他要他的燕屋農場改進他必須敲和拆掉某些地方。他可以把那幾個燕窩忘掉，最重要的是他拆掉的未來。如果他不修補我可以保證，在幾年之後，那幾個燕窩還是一樣。

M先生告诉我建立他拆掉的人是一位知名的師傅和修造了許多燕屋農場。您自己看看那照片並且判斷它。在這种情况下您也可以是一位師傅。

因此，我画了一個計劃給M先生表明燕屋農場新的設計。並且還有需要為這個失敗的燕屋農場做的事。尽管有許多錯誤，不是容易的事。我詳細的解釋了每一件關於燕屋農場的設計、伴音系统、鋪板和它的屋内環境，以便M先生將瞭解並且學會。我希望今后，如果他面對任何的問題他會知道怎样做。

Is This What You Call a Well Known Consultant?

The whole of December 2011 was a hectic month. I‘ve to visit farms, revamp them and building new ones. I have tried to find an assistant to help me to lighten my workload but failed. I don’t need construction workers or contractors which I have many. I want an assistant. An apprentice job would eventually turn into a profession after months under my teaching and guidance and yet I can’t find a suitable candidate that matches my criteria. The main criteria simple, honesty and compassionate… I guess that is the toughest criteria ever.

Mr. M of Northern Selangor had waited for a month plus before I could visit his Bh. He wanted me to visit his Bh of 2 years that has only few nests. Sorry for that Mr. M, my apology. He had called me many times and we had met in my office prior to this visit. I told him that I could only see his Bh in late December if he could wait. No obligation he could always ask someone else to revamp his Bh if he couldn’t wait. That was my sincere message.

Mr. M had complained that birds won’t want to fly into the entrance hole. From his observation all birds fly to the roving and the moment they reached the roving instantly they turned back. He wants to know why?

Now many who build or revamp Bhs for others had focused only on profit making. They accept any jobs that come in be it revamp or Building new ones. Their mission and objective had been solely based on commercialization and profit making. Building successful Bh for customers had become secondary, anyway the owners won’t know it. Who cares? Principally there is no more business ethic. Money is the main driving force.

I was shocked to see Mr. M Bh. It was not a shop lot. It was an individual building and the top floor was converted into a Bh. Since it is an add-on floor, so the of pillars and beams could be placed at a location to accommodate the design and the Birds flying path. But the one who built this Bh didn’t see this. Either he totally knows nothing about Swiftlet farming or he real con…….

The roving width is less than 4 ft furthermore there were walls of lite weight bricks built to seal up the window at the roving. Even a novice would know that it is not necessary since the roving is an open area and the insulation at this area doesn’t serve any purposes other than wasting the bricks money.

As I walked into the roving area with Mr.M we both have to take turn to walk thru it. Otherwise our shoulders would knock into each other. If this could happen to us what about the birds?

How could someone build a Bh like this and charged premium price.

The roving area is a place for birds to maneuver and slow down as they enter the bh. A poor designed Roving or a small roving would restrict birds from maneuver thus causing them to turn back.

Why didn’t the one who had built this Bh realize this???? Didn’t this person who builds this Bh knows the basic of Bh’s Design?

There were so many errors from farm’s design to nesting plank formation. Tweeters arrangement was another problem. ….I was thinking isn’t it better to tear the whole Bh down and re-built it again and start anew. But I won’t do that, if I could salvage it at the lowest cost possible I would because this would mean lots to Mr. M.

I told Mr.M, sincerely there are many errors, if he wants his Bh to improve he has to knock and hack certain areas. He can forget about the few nests in his Bh most important is the future of the Bh. If he doesn’t revamp it I could assure him that after few years or more the number of nest would remain few.

Mr.M told me the one who built his Bh is a well known Sifu and had built many Bhs. You see the pictures and judge it yourself. In this case you too could be a Sifu .

So I draw out a plan for Mr.M which indicates the new design of the Bh. Also the things that needed to be done to this sick Bh. It is not easy as there are so many errors. I explained every single thing in detail pertaining to the farm’s design, sound system, planking and its micro so that Mr.M would understand and learn. I hope in future if he faces problems he would know what to do.

I spent hours in the Bh showing him the errors and teaching him how to identify them.

It was like a one to one tuition..ha..ha.ha..

Hope he could absorb all the things that I had taught him. After exposing all the errors then only Mr.M knew how little the person who builds his Bh and himself know about swiftlet farming.

So now Mr.M has to start all over again. This is what happens when you have chosen the wrong person to build your dream Bh.

燕屋變賭場熟客招客全天營業

（吉隆坡26日訊）燕屋竟是小賭場！

　不法集團為了避開警方線眼，一再更改非法網座的經營模式，如今，他們更把這盤“生意”，“延伸”到郊外鄉區；更讓人意想不到的是，他們竟然想到把賭場設立在引燕屋內，以避開警方。
捕6看場和賭客

　據悉，業者是把一些廢置的引燕屋，裝修“改造”成地下賭場，以時下最流行的網絡賭博為賣點，通過熟客介紹方式招攬客人，並全天候營業。

　警方是接獲公眾情報，暗中監督國內賭博集團經營的燕屋地下賭場長達數週，直到時機成熟后，于前天下午3時，派出武吉阿曼的“天兵”在雪州大港、沙白安南和霹靂丹絨馬林3個地點展開同步突擊。

　這也是警方首次揭發燕屋賭場的不法活動。

　來自武吉阿曼反傷風化、肅賭和私會黨取締組警方，聯合3地的警區同僚，在為時8個小時的取締行動中，共逮捕6名看場和賭客，起獲55台賭博機。

　據了解，所有被取締的燕屋賭場，都建立在偏僻的油棕園內，外表和普通的燕屋無異，若不是老馬識途的賭客帶路，外人根本不懂這些燕屋竟內有乾坤。

　據觀察，燕屋都是有幾層樓高，但業者只是利用底樓“改造”成地下賭場，樓上則丟空。

东海岸的L先生總是想擁有一個燕屋農場，但是他卻很害怕进入這個行業，因爲知道成功率是那麽的低，如果那個人是沒有經驗。所以，他開始了一個木板的燕屋農場 20 x48 (2層樓的大小)來實驗。如果試驗成功，他會投資更大水泥修造3層樓25x80的燕屋農場。

在他修建這個小燕屋農場之前，他与我谈了好多次。如果我還記得的話，它是躲過一年多的時間。很好他試驗了這並且看到它的進展。

它並沒有一個好的開始，但是他卻设法得到許多的燕子進入燕屋農場在使用了GS外聲音之后。 GS聲音起了很好的作用，許多燕子每天都來玩。現在他當前面對唯一的問題是溫度和有限的內部空間。

如果他修建了一個水泥的建筑和有好防熱的牆壁他會做的更好。現在有了確信，他可以建立他要任何大小的燕屋農場。

Experimental Bird House That Works.

It was wonderful to have visited this Small Kampong Style Swiftlet farm. It was built on the idea of experiment.

Mr. L of East Coast had always wanted to own a swiftlet farm but he is afraid to go into it knowing that the successful rate is low if one has no experience. Therefore he started a small wooden Bh the size of 20 x48 ( 2 storey ) for experimental. If it works then he would invest into it and build a bigger concrete Bh perhaps a 3 storey 25x80.

He had spoken to me many times before he builds this Small farm. If I could remember it was a year or more ago. It was good that he had tried out this way and see it himself .

It wasn't a good start but he had managed to pull in many birds after changing to the GS External sound. The Gs sound worked well many birds came and play everyday without fail. The only problem currently he is facing now is the temperature and of cause the limited internal space.

I had advise him to increase the number of inter and external tweeters. But Currently the solar power doesn't allow him to have many tweeters due to the shortage of voltage. As we know this is a Low cost budgeted wooded Bh.

Prior to my visit Mr.L had just harvested the nests therefore it only left those that are new built. This simply build experimental Bh has more than 60 nests in a year plus after operation.

If he had built a concrete building with good insulating walls he would had done even better. With the confident now he could build any size of Bh he wants.

Due to its small size the control of light density is tricky. I had asked him to put up some partitioning but it has to be done correctly.This would improve the birds and nests population. The sound system could be improved, I will draw out plan of tweeters formation, sound system set up so that this Bh could push up it birds and nests population. Since it already has nests to double it is not a problem at all.

I will be visiting it again after the revamp has been done. I am sure there will be more nests. Mean while I guess Mr.L is planning a new Bh next to this small Kampong style Bh.

(這是使用內部催眠聲音的燕屋農場的照片。所有的燕窩都被修造在內部高音揚聲器的附近。如果內部聲音是好的，就算使用便宜的高音揚聲器，燕子仍然在它附近做窩。那就顯示有好的內部聲音是多么的重要。上面便宜的高音揚聲器只是RM1.40而已但是卻播著催眠的聲音)。

Thanks for your complement Mr.T. Every single Hypnotic sound I sent out has some little differences in it. It is to avoid people from duplicating it, so that they won’t share the same internal sound with you.

Yes Mr. James, he did but the consultant doesn’t allow. The consultant is holding the keys and I have no say on what hormone to use. Now after 1 year I took back the keys so now I call you. Mr.James my friend said your Sound and Love potion are very good. I will try. Please send 6 bottles of Love Potion and a set a of External and Internal sound as soon as possible. I shall transfer the money this afternoon.

This is the conversation between me and Mr.T of Pahang. Sad he had a Bh that he has no say for one year. It has wasted 1 year. I guess if he had followed what his friend (Mr.C) uses then his Bh would definitely have more than 13 nests.

This one of the many problems most Swiftlet farmers are facing. Sometimes you just have to make your own decision.

在沙撈越這算是好的Meranti木板。對于我，我會全部都拒绝掉。

這就是我在我所有的燕屋农场使用的板條。許多顧問或承包商不會給您这些種类的板條，即使他們答应了您。他們也許收取優質的價格，但是給您的却是低级的類型。 (要當心哦)。現在要得到這樣的質量是很难了。(您可以比較照片)

这次去了Bintulu的行程还蛮好。我必須半夜4點起來，以便我能搭7点的飞机。和平常一样，日程表是很緊紧凑的，我必須在2天完成一切。

我必須檢查3層樓獨立燕屋农场的進展，很關心和保證一切是根據我的計劃。我燕屋的計劃和設計明顯地表明了測量、大小和需要結構的材料。承包商只需要做的就是相應跟隨我的計劃。

無論如何K先生買了，他說供應商卖了给不少在沙撈越的燕屋农场，还很知名的那個和它不可能是錯誤的，並且他非常肯定他买了正確的板條。 K先生說供應商說這个類型是最佳的紅色Meranti並且是Kd了。现在板條被存放在他的倉庫里。當我到達了那裡，我很惊奇的看到那些板條。它是混合了所有种类的木板。 10%在安装之前已經有了真菌，只有10%是好的，其他那些一定会有真菌騷擾的，我給他們3個月的时间。 (我懷疑它是否有被KD)。

我告诉K先生，我為我所有修造的燕屋农场未曾使用过这个类型的板條。K先生回復「供應商說這裡所有大型的燕屋农场都是使用此種类的木板」。我告诉他拒绝这些板條和為了将来使用更好的一個。 (将来的意思是5-10年的时间)

我告訴了他这些種类的木板，通常别人用来作為木柴。它是非常便宜的。我记得我的鋸木廠主曾经告訴我有許多顧問和人要求这些类型的木板，因為他們可以获得更多的利润，並且它也是便宜的。但是K先生却付了高的價格。

在檢查之後我們就去吃午餐。已經是下午3點了。我根本沒有饿，並且我完全忘了午餐。 K先生保持安靜，他一定是非常饿了。我很抱歉。我猜他沒有提醒我關於午餐，因為他看见我在工作上的严肃性，上上下下3層樓的燕屋农场。进入燕屋頂，流動區域等等保證所有都根據我的計劃。

Bintulu Standalone Construction (Sarawak)

Still the most reliable insulation of all time.

In Sarawak This is consider the Good Grade Meranti. For me i would reject them all.

These are the planks I use for all my Bhs. Many consultants or contractors will not give you this type of planks even though they promise you. They might charge premium price but give you low grade type. (beware). It is hard to get such quality now.( you can compare the pictures)

It was a good visit to Bintulu. I have to get up early at 4 am so that I could catch the 7am flight. As usual the schedule was tight I have to complete everything in 2 days.

I have to check the progress of the 3 storey Standalone under my care I am making sure everything is according to my plan. My building plan and design has indicated clearly the measurement, size and the structure materials needed. All the contractor needs to do is to follow my plan accordingly.

The Bh is located about 20 minute drive from the Town. It was a good a location. I have many readers from Bintulu and the feedback from them somehow not promising due many Bhs being done poorly. Though from outside most Standalones here looked huge, nice and tough (3-4 storey) but inside are badly designed. This would deter the birds from making nests. Well I could say most are building a building rather than building a swiftlet farm.

After landed in Bintulu we headed to the site. The contractor is already there waiting for us. I guess he is a bit nervous because I am a very fussy person. He is afraid I might ask him to hack down things that are not according to my plan. Anyway I am happy to see the progress and everything I wanted and planned is there. He did a good job and I complemented him for that.

The next step is to install the nesting planks and the sound system. The nesting planks formation is very important. It has to be pre-calculated designed not just following the traditional way of estimation the length between the planks. (Which 90% Bh is doing the estimation type).

'There are plenty of birds here the potential is great why not all Bhs are doing well?' Ask one of Mr.K's friends. My sincere reply was “Most of them are building a Building but not a Swiftlet farm”.

Mr.K wanted to show me the Meranti planks he had bought. He got it from a well known local supplier. Prior to this I had advised him to make sure all plank must be dried properly (Machine chamber 100% KD) not under the sun like the primitive way. The Meranti must be of good graded type that could resist the fungus. No white or yellow Meranti , possible Red which to me if possible I demanded Dark Red (Brown). This is the wood plank that is going to be in the Bh for many years perhaps your grand children will still see them fungus free. I doubted that he could get it from Sarawak.

Anyway Mr.K had bought it , he said the supplier sells to all bhs in Sarawak a well known one and it couldn’t be wrong and he is very sure he had the right planks. Mr.K said the supplier said this is the type and the best Red Meranti and is Kded. The planks were stored in his warehouse.

When I reached there I saw the Planks I was shocked. It was a mixture of all woods. 10% already infested with fungus even before installation only 10% is good ones the rest will be infested with fungus I give them 3 months if installed. ( I doubted it was KDed).

I told Mr. K, I never use this type of woods for planks for all the Bhs I build. Mr.K replied “the supplier said all mega farms here are using this type of wood”. I advise him to reject the planks and use the better one for long term. ( long term means 5-10 years)

I told him this type of wood normally people use as firewood. It is very cheap. I remember my Sawmill owner once told me there are lots of consultants and people requesting for this type of wood because they could make more profit and it’s cheap. But Mr.K paid premium price for it.

After the inspection we went for lunch. It was already 3 pm. I wasn’t hungry at all and I have forgotten about lunch. Mr.K had kept quiet, he must be very hungry. I am sorry for that. I guess he didn’t remind me about lunch because he saw my seriousness in work, going up and down the 3 storey Bh. Going into the roof, up the roving area,etc to making sure all going according to my plan.

一个属于燕屋农场新的Amp。对于经常有電中斷和使用太阳能燕屋农场的區域。這个Amp內部有自動交換控制的芯片可以转动在Ac/Dc之間。

對于太陽能的燕屋农场，當太阳能在多雲的天气期間不足够強力来维持，聰明的Amp将可以转到Dc。在有強的太阳期間Dc的電池将自動地充電。

就算在经常有頻繁電中斷的區域，燕屋农场仍然有聲音和燕子不会因而跑掉。電池的运作可以变成一臺備用發電器。

换句话说，任何情況下燕屋农场仍然有聲音。高电能的功率可能操作高达60或更多的加壓力的高音揚聲器。

如上所示它自動地交換电源。既使有电力中斷燕屋农场仍然有聲音。
