The Mayor of Swindon judged the “John Evans” competition.

“Peatmoor Lagoon”, by Jim Bullock, was selected by the Mayor of Swindon as his favourite photograph at the John Evan’s Competition, on Thursday 28 March, 2013. Swindon Photographic Society members presented forty-eight prints for the Mayor to view at their club meeting in The Western Community Centre, Rodbourne, Swindon. Our first ever 10 x 8 night went very well. 10 x 8 refers to eight people speaking for ten minutes on anything they like about photography. Our members who took part made it one of the best evenings at the club I can remember. Wantage Camera Club hosted a “Battle” between Oxford Camera Club, Wantage Camera Club and Swindon Photographic Society on Tuesday evening, 5 March, 2013. A very enjoyable evening! Enhanced by the comments of the judge, Keith Long and the enjoyment of great images. The excellent scores achieved by the Club entries – 173 for prints and 157 for PI– meant a tie between Oxford and Swindon. Catch the Vision Exhibition Station Square, 1 Gloucester Street, Swindon Change of Opening Times Swindon Borough Council will be displaying some pieces of Art, including two Lowry paintings beside our Exhibition on Monday 14 Jan to Friday 18 Jan. 2013 12:00 to 17:00 each day But 12-14:00 on Wed is restricted to business viewers Please note that you need to register to view. Club Christmas Party

On Thursday 20th December, 28 member’s attended a fish and chip supper with wine and mince pies during which several quizzes were attempted and prizes won for correct answers. Afterwards we all judged the knock-out fun print competition where members were invited to submit their favourite amusing print for a prize of a £20 voucher. A raffle followed and the evening ended with a 10 minute AV of humorous photographs. A good evening enjoyed by all.

Our Club President, Chris Ramsay, chatting with Martin Fry during the interval at Thursday evening’s presentation of “A Winter Wonderland”, by Martin. And what a wonderful presentation it was, too. Great stories and images, and plenty of hints on how to achieve similar results. Following on from Robert Albright’s evening of instruction on Tuesday, those who attended both should have little excuse for poor enthusiasm for Audio Visual!
