Our June Series Continues this Tuesday June 17.
If you were there week 1, but missed class last week, then you should come back and re-join us this week for week 3 classes.
The 9:40 dance will be deejayed by Nathan Malone, and it is open to all.

Lindy 4 with Samnatha Garfield and Matt Mitchell.
For the experienced dancers who want to advance their dancing to higher level. Samantha and Matt retrun to teach Lindy 4 this month. Their classes have been well-received by their students all Spring. If you have missed Lindy 4 the last few months, it would be a great time to join..

Lindy 3, with Katibeth Lee and Billy Marcus
Something Fun - In June, Katibeth and Billy return to Lindy 3. Billy and Katibeth bring a lot of energy and fun to their classes, in addition to strong work on technique and lead-follow. In this class, we usually bring back patterns and moves from Lindy 2, fine tune them so they feel easy to recall, and add in variations to these patterns to challenge the students, add variety and style to their dancing. For the Intermediate Level Lindy Hopper (and above) who wants to improve the use of the patterns and stylings they have learned, while fine-tuning their ability to lead and follow Lindy Hop at this level.

Lindy 2, with Sally Matsumae and Johnny Serrano.
This month's class series features fun Lindy Patterns, some Charleston and technique. The Syllabus is all on the website. This class is for the graduates of Lindy 1 who want to move their Lindy Hop up a level and learn the basic technique and patterns that make Lindy so fun and friendly.

Balboa 2 with Jennifer Reed and David Bradford
Part of our new Balboa Program. Once you have graduated Balboa 1 (through the Assessment), you are ready to expand your Balboa vocabulary, improve your technique, and learn styling for Balboa. A 3-month series. If you were already enrolled in Intermediate Balboa prior to July of this year, you will be all-right for Balboa 2

8:30 Classes:
Introduction to Swing Dancing with Sally Matsumae and Johnny Serrano.
If you're new to swing dancing, even if you have done a little social dancing, this is the class for you. Sally and Johnny will help you "get your game on" and become dance-ready for the social dance floor with Austin's most popular social dance form.

Lindy 1 with Laura Malloy and Matt Jones
So, you've been swing dancing for a while and you know how to do a triple-step. But you want to learn the Lindy and the Charleston. This is the class for you. Come and learn it and stick around to dance in the Ballroom in the after-class dance.

Balboa 1 with Jennifer Reed and David Bradford
Part of our new Balboa Program. This is the pre-requisite for Balboa 2. Students can expect to learn the basic patterns and styling to begin social dancing Balboa.

Collegiate Shag, Intermediate Level- with Megan Shaw and Ryan Martin.
Collegiate Shag returns to Four On The Floor this month. Ryan teaches with his fiance, Megan, this month. Megan has a lot of great teaching experience from New York City where she lived and worked before moving to Austin. This is their first chance to teach together for the Austin dancers. They have some great Collegiate Shag lessons for the dancers who know the basics of Collegiate Shag and are ready to move their dancing to the next level. requires that you have already had a beginning level Collegiate Shag class or series.

We've got these fun class offerings in June:

7:15 pm Classes:
Lindy 4 with Samnatha Garfield and Matt Mitchell.
For the experienced dancers who want to advance their dancing to higher level. Samantha and Matt retrun to teach Lindy 4 this month. Their classes have been well-received by their students all Spring. If you have missed Lindy 4 the last few months, it would be a great time to join..

Lindy 3, with Katibeth Lee and Billy Marcus
Something Fun - In June, Katibeth and Billy return to Lindy 3. Billy and Katibeth bring a lot of energy and fun to their classes, in addition to strong work on technique and lead-follow. In this class, we usually bring back patterns and moves from Lindy 2, fine tune them so they feel easy to recall, and add in variations to these patterns to challenge the students, add variety and style to their dancing. For the Intermediate Level Lindy Hopper (and above) who wants to improve the use of the patterns and stylings they have learned, while fine-tuning their ability to lead and follow Lindy Hop at this level.

This month's class series features fun Lindy Patterns, some Charleston and technique. The Syllabus is all on the website. This class is for the graduates of Lindy 1 who want to move their Lindy Hop up a level and learn the basic technique and patterns that make Lindy so fun and friendly.

Balboa 2 with Jennifer Reed and David Bradford
Part of our new Balboa Program. Once you have graduated Balboa 1 (through the Assessment), you are ready to expand your Balboa vocabulary, improve your technique, and learn styling for Balboa. A 3-month series. If you were already enrolled in Intermediate Balboa prior to July of this year, you will be all-right for Balboa 2

Introduction to Swing Dancing with Sally Matsumae and Johnny Serrano.
If you're new to swing dancing, even if you have done a little social dancing, this is the class for you. Sally and Johnny will help you "get your game on" and become dance-ready for the social dance floor with Austin's most popular social dance form.

Lindy 1 with Laura Malloy and Matt Jones
So, you've been swing dancing for a while and you know how to do a triple-step. But you want to learn the Lindy and the Charleston. This is the class for you. Come and learn it and stick around to dance in the Ballroom in the after-class dance.

Balboa 1 with Jennifer Reed and David Bradford
Part of our new Balboa Program. This is the pre-requisite for Balboa 2. Students can expect to learn the basic patterns and styling to begin social dancing Balboa.

Collegiate Shag, Intermediate Level- with Megan Shaw and Ryan Martin.
Collegiate Shag returns to Four On The Floor this month. Ryan teaches with his fiance, Megan, this month. Megan has a lot of great teaching experience from New York City where she lived and worked before moving to Austin. This is their first chance to teach together for the Austin dancers. They have some great Collegiate Shag lessons for the dancers who know the basics of Collegiate Shag and are ready to move their dancing to the next level. requires that you have already had a beginning level Collegiate Shag class or series.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY to everyone, especially our veterans.
Laura and I hope everyone has a safe holiday.

OUR MAY CLASS SERIES WILL CONCLUDE THIS TUESDAY, May 27.
Even if you missed 1 or 2 classes this month, come back to finish the month with us.
It is, like every year, a very wet Memorial Day weekend.
There is a 40 % chance of rain showers Tuesday night, so remember your umbrella.

Intermediate Lindy Hop Workshop- with Katibeth Lee and Billy Marcus.
This is a month to celebrate the life of Frankie Manning, the originator of Lindy Hop, on what would have been his 100th birthday. This class begins with Frankie's Shim Sham, a solo jazz routine done in a group (you may have seen it every Thursday at the Fed). This class moves from the Shim Sham into
teaching fun ways for dancers, who have learned the swing out and some patterns and stylings, to express what they are feeling from what they hear in the music. This was how Frankie danced - he was a very expressive dancer whose movement and style reflected what the music was doing and how it made him feel..Some call it musicality. I think its fun

This is a month to celebrate the life of Frankie Manning, the originator of Lindy Hop, on what would have been his 100th birthday. This class begins with Frankie's Shim Sham, a solo jazz routine done in a group (you may have seen it every Thursday at the Fed). This class moves from the Shim Sham into
teaching fun ways for dancers, who have learned the swing out and some patterns and stylings, to express what they are feeling from what they hear in the music. This was how Frankie danced - he was a very expressive dancer whose movement and style reflected what the music was doing and how it made him feel..Some call it musicality. I think its fun

WEATHER ALERT for Tuesday at classes:
Well - we needed it and the rain finally came. May is supposed to be our wettest month of the year.
It looks like the thunderstorm watch will be off Tuesday afternoon, and that most of the hard rain will be past us before rush hour.
Getting to the Fed may take some more time, but we should all be safe.

For the experienced dancers who want to advance their dancing to higher level. Samantha and Matt retrun to teach Lindy 4 this month. Their classes have been well-received by their students in Match and April. If you have missed Lindy 4 the last few months, it would be a great time to join..

Lindy 3, with Katibeth Lee and Billy Marcus
Something Fun - In May, we welcome the two newest additions to our teaching staff to Lindy 3. Billy and Katibeth bring a lot of energy and fun to their classes, in addition to strong work on technique and lead-follow. In this class, we usually bring back patterns and moves from Lindy 2, fine tune them so they feel easy to recall, and add in variations to these patterns to challenge the students, add variety and style to their dancing. For the Intermediate Level Lindy Hopper (and above) who wants to improve the use of the patterns and stylings they have learned, while fine-tuning their ability to lead and follow Lindy Hop at this level.

Lindy 2, with Sally Matsumae and Johnny Serrano.
This month's class series features fun Tandem Charleston, Lindy Patterns and technique. The Syllabus is all on the website. This class is for the graduates of Lindy 1 who want to move their Lindy Hop up a level and learn the basic technique and patterns that make Lindy so fun and friendly.

Balboa 2 with Charlotte Brady and David Bradford
Part of our new Balboa Program. Once you have graduated Balboa 1 (through the Assessment), you are ready to expand your Balboa vocabulary, improve your technique, and learn styling for Balboa. A 3-month series. If you were already enrolled in Intermediate Balboa prior to July of this year, you will be all-right for Balboa 2

Introduction to Swing Dancing with Sally Matsumae and Johnny Serrano.
If you're new to swing dancing, even if you have done a little social dancing, this is the class for you. Sally and Johnny will help you "get your game on" and become dance-ready for the social dance floor with Austin's most popular social dance form.

So, you've been swing dancing for a while and you know how to do a triple-step. But you want to learn the Lindy and the Charleston. This is the class for you. Come and learn it and stick around to dance in the Ballroom in the after-class dance.

Lindy 4 with Samnatha Garfield and Matt Mitchell.
For the experienced dancers who want to advance their dancing to higher level. We are glad to announce that Matt Mitchell will be joining Samantha Garfield to teach Lindy 4 this month. Y'all may know Matt as a Balboa teacher. I have know Matt for over ten years, long before he moved back to Texas from Cleveland. He is a skilled Lindy Hopper as well and is an excellent teacher. he was Samantha's choice as a teaching partner in Lindy 4 this month.

Lindy 3, with Jennifer Monk-Lin and Matthew B Jones
Something Fun - Jennifer returns to teach with Matt, who's glad to be back in Lindy 3. In this class, we usually bring back patterns and moves from Lindy 2, fine tune them so they feel easy to recall, and add in variations to these patterns to challenge the students, add variety and style to their dancing. For the Intermediate Level Lindy Hopper (and above) who wants to improve the use of the patterns and stylings they have learned, while fine-tuning their ability to lead and follow Lindy Hop at this level.

This month's class series features fun new Lindy Patterns and technique. The Syllabus is all on the website. This class is for the graduates of Lindy 1 who want to move their Lindy Hop up a level and learn the basic technique and patterns that make Lindy so fun and friendly.

Balboa 2 with Charlotte Brady and David Bradford
Part of our new Balboa Program. Once you have graduated Balboa 1 (through the Assessment), you are ready to expand your Balboa vocabulary, improve your technique, and learn styling for Balboa. A 3-month series. If you were already enrolled in Intermediate Balboa prior to July of this year, you will be all-right for Balboa 2

8:30 Classes:
Introduction to Swing Dancing with Sally Matsumae and Johnny Serrano.
If you're new to swing dancing, even if you have done a little social dancing, this is the class for you. Sally and Johnny will help you "get your game on" and become dance-ready for the social dance floor with Austin's most popular social dance form.

Lindy 1 with Laura Malloy and Chia-Wen Lin
So, you've been swing dancing for a while and you know how to do a triple-step. But you want to learn the Lindy and the Charleston. This is the class for you. Come and learn it and stick around to dance in the Ballroom in the after-class dance.

Balboa 1 with Charlotte Brady and David Bradford
Part of our new Balboa Program. This is the pre-requisite for Balboa 2. Students can expect to learn the basic patterns and styling to begin social dancing Balboa.

Slow Balboa- with Jennifer Reed and Matt Mitchell.
This is a new class, not just for Austin,.but for everyone who likes Balboa. Most recently, Matt Mitchell taught this class at Hot Rhythm Holiday. he has a four-class series on it this March. It is an intermediate level class. To get in, students must have already graduated from Balboa 1 and have at least some time in Balboa 2, or the equivalent.

This is a new class, not just for Austin,.but for everyone who likes Balboa. Most recently, Matt Mitchell taught this class at Hot Rhythm Holiday. he has a four-class series on it this March. It is an intermediate level class. To get in, students must have already graduated from Balboa 1 and have at least some time in Balboa 2, or the equivalent.

AUSTIN BUSKER FESTIVAL - April 12 - 13.
Street performance, or busking, is the practice of performing in public places, for gratuities.
Performances can be just about anything that people find entertaining, from music to magic acts and contortions to comedy.
This year, we are hosting the inaugural Austin Busker Festival in association with Art City Austin
on April 12 - 13, 2014. We will be bringing in 10 top-notch acts on 2 pitches (stages)
for over 15 thousand people in downtown Austin!

7:15 pm Classes:
Lindy 4 with Samnatha Garfield and Matt Mitchell.
For the experienced dancers who want to advance their dancing to higher level. We are glad to announce that Matt Mitchell will be joining Samantha Garfield to teach Lindy 4 this month. Y'all may know Matt as a Balboa teacher. I have know Matt for over ten years, long before he moved back to Texas from Cleveland. He is a skilled Lindy Hopper as well and is an excellent teacher. he was Samantha's choice as a teaching partner in Lindy 4 this month.

Something Fun - Jennifer returns to teach with Matt, who's glad to be back in Lindy 3. In this class, we usually bring back patterns and moves from Lindy 2, fine tune them so they feel easy to recall, and add in variations to these patterns to challenge the students, add variety and style to their dancing.
