This demonstration shows the realtime access to the step sequencer during a live performance. I change the playback direction, skip notes, enter new notes and other things while performing.
I am also showing the live mixing of parts and FX editing. The session is captured directly from the sum outputs of the Spectralis 2 and I have not used any external FXs or EQs to get that sound. But I did a new sampleset for this demo. This sampleset includes drumsounds with reverbration. So - all the reverb effects are from the samples. Detuning the samples gives some nice sounding FXs. I will upload that sampleset to the Radikal website soon.

PS1: And by the way - please insert the missing "t" in the word "Start" at the beginning of this performance. I saw that directly after uploading the video...
PS2: I checked the audio quality after uploading the demo and must say, that the bass sounds horrible after conversion. Hopefully, it sounds better in HD setting.

This little feller came onto the scene at this year's Musik Messe, where as usual Dr Doepfer was at the controls. In the hands of the good Doctor, it the Dark Energy squealed and screamed, making some pretty unearthly noises.

Under the control of my siginificantly less experienced fingers, I still managed to get the Dark Energy to give me plenty of aural pleasure.

Dark Place
A monophonic, fully analogue, semi-modular synthesizer is what we have here. It's born of the Eurorack modules, but slightly larger, with quality knob caps and lovely positive metal switches. It's also really sturdily constructed, with everything bolted to the metal case plate. Modules are normalled, so that you'll be making sound right off the get-go without any additional patching, but you can also get control access to the VCO frequency and pulsewidth, VCF frequency, VCA amplitude and envelope gate and external audio inputs. Outputs are LFO1, and envelope.

Open The Gate

However, there's a twist - also included is a USB/MIDI CV interface with hardwired control over the VCO and Gate - so plug in a USB or MIDI lead, and you are in full control. There are also 3 additional CV outputs that allow you to take Pitch Bend (CV out 1), velocity (CV out 3) and an assignable MIDI controller (CV out 4) and control additional parameters by patching (with the 2 included mini jack leads) wherever the mood takes you.

Now that I have at home an ARP Odyssey I've decided to compare the filter with my "Yusynth ARP 4072 filter clone" that I've built few months ago.

This is a side to side comparative between ARP Odyssey 4075 filter and a Yusynth ARP 4072 filter clone.

It's suposed that the 4075 filter that is installed on the ARP Odyssey is the same filter as the 4072 that was installed on the ARP 2600. I have to opportunity to compare the the original 4075 filter with the Yusynth 4072 clone module , so I've decided to make a comparative.

As you can heard the Yusynth module is a very accurate clone of the original ARP filter. Only slight differences can be heard at resonance settings but even these differences can be minimized changing the cut-off and resonance parameters. For example with 80% of resonance in both filters the sound could be not the same but if you move the resonance to 90% on the Yusynth module you could get the same sound.

So the only thing that I can say is... congrats Yves for your great work!!!

I decided to make this, my first demo vid, to showcase the Telemark as they aren't enough demos out there. Keep in mind that I'm only scratching the surface here...

All the sounds you hear in this demo are made on the Telemark. The only FX added were a touch of reverb on the main synth sound.

ARP Odyssey Restoration

I've been very busy the last weeks working on this synth. Now is working great , sliders are soft and keyboard feels great. If you want to know more about this restoration read the "Text from the video" section.

RP Odyssey MKII 2813 Test after restoration

The last few weeks I've been working restoring this ARP Odyssey. This is an ARP Odyssey MKII 2813. Filter is 4075 model and the synth has CV/gate in/outs. This video was made while I was testing the synth after assembling. SOme reverb/delay has been added , the audio has been recorded on the computer and substitutes the camera audio.

Some of the works that have been made on the synth were :

- All sliders have been desoldered from the pcb , opened and cleaned and changed if needed.
- All switches have been desoldered from the pcb , opened and cleaned.
- Boards have been cleaned
- Keyboard have been totally disassembled and cleaned
- Keyboard bushings have been replaced
- CV and Gate bus have been cleaned
- Front panel has been cleaned
- Filter has been mod for higher cut off frequency (4075 filter bug correction)
-Synth has been recalibrated
-etc etc etc

This is the Photon Interface module by Cynthia. The positive CV output from the Photon is controlling the filter frequency of the Serge Creature and later the tempo of the Cynthia VC Tabla. The lower half of the module features a highly sensitive photocell with its own dedicated voltage processor which makes for a great performance controller when your hand passes between photocell and lamp. The gate out from the VC Tabla is triggering the Pulse Divider on the Serge Gator. These divisions are doing various tone changes in the Creature. 2 of the Malekko Echo Bright 600 pedals are being used for delay.
