Hi,

Our LA based college radio station would like to sponsor or co-sponsor a music showcase at sxsw 2010. It’s the first time anyone at the station has done something like this. Any tips? Thanks!

Is there any official or unofficial number on the entries expected? I’m just trying to get an idea of the odds.

Sidenote: I think this new system is ridiculous. The old way, tickets went to those who were most dedicated, the people willing to wait in line forever and take off of work to do so. This random drawing takes something away from the whole SXSW experience.

A newbie question:

Is this strickly a badge affair?

Or let say I only wanted to see one film, could I just show up at the ticket counter of the movie theater on the night of said movie being shown and buy myself a ticket?

Or will everything be sold out in advance?

Hi all

Am a first time traveller to SXSW and am super excited! I am 21 and am coming with my 18yo sister and music loving parents. We are on an economy budget, but are still looking for something clean and not dodgy. We have made a booking at La Quinta at Austin Highland Mall (TX). We are hoping to spend most of our time attending gigs and different shows. So, I am wondering if this is a convenient location. We have not decided whether to hire a car or not? Any suggestions/area expertise/past experiences/help would be greatly appreciated! Is anyone aware of a more convenient, suitable location?

Thankyou heaps: Bring on the tunes!!:

Viva Radio spreads the online radio gospel to the heavy, heathen masses assembled in Austin, TX for SXSW 2008. Friday and Saturday afternoon, Viva hosts a pair of shows at the American Apparel at 1325 South Congress, former home to Factory People (a location synonymous with holy times at SXSW).

The two day line up brings to the battle line a grip of artists featured extensively on Viva’s far reaching, far flung, and far out programming, alongside contributor (+ station friend) DJs and MCs / on air personalities, Tedward & Sheri Barclay. All performances, behind-the-scenes interviews, and assorted congregating will be recorded (A/V) and broadcast at a later date and time on the highly anticipated 2.0 version of Viva Radio.

In case you haven’t happened upon us already, Viva Radio is a Brooklyn based online radio station. Our programming is drawn from a select roster of contributors known for their passion and intense music knowledge.
