Australia Day is on 26 January. This is a public holiday.

Everyone is getting excited to celebrate Australia Day. Green, gold, red, white and blue colour will be dominant everywhere.

The celebrations, events and activities spread everywhere from backyards, parks, harbours and beaches.

This public holiday is marked by a wide range of nationwide celebrations such as competitions, parades and also music celebrations!

On this day, it is really good to go outside and join the celebration in your local area, in the city or on the beach.

You can join the party at Hyde Park in the city. This is a big park and there is a free music concert here. Have a picnic here. You can enjoy the entertainment here with your family. Kids will love the activities here, sing, dance and enjoy Australia Day here.

Darling Harbour is my favourite place to celebrate Australia Day. A lot of activities and entertainment program at Darling Harbour. It’s good to stay until night to see the Darling Harbour Australia Day Spectacular and Fireworks. Bring your friends and family. This is a free event.

In some suburbs and city, citizenship ceremonies are held on Australia Day. A lot of people will officially become Australians at citizenship ceremonies on Australia Day.

Best Spot to Watch Sydney NYE Fireworks

Sydney city always has fireworks display on New Year's Eve every year. If you are planning to see fireworks, you should start decide which place to go.

There are many places has beautiful view facing to Harbour Bridge and many of them are free.

The list below are some of the free places to see Sydney New Year’s Eve fireworks:

Bradfield Park (Alfred Street, North Sydney), this place is too close to the bridge.
Blues Point Reserve (Blues Point Road, McMahons Point)
Mary Booth Lookout (Waruda Avenue, Kirribilli)
Dawes Point Park (Hickson Road, The Rocks), this place is too close to the bridge.
Campbells Cove (Hickson Road, Sydney)

No matter which place you go, it always better to be there as early as possible. Some people even try to be there a day before just want to get the best spot.

9 o’clock firework is good for family with small kids, so you don’t have to wait until midnight to see the fireworks. After 9 o’clock firework finish, you can take the kids home and watch live broadcast midnight fireworks from TV at home.

If you prefer to pay some money, there are many places that offer New Year’s Eve party with the best view.

You can book a hotel room that has the view facing to Harbour Bridge if possible. Or you also can join the cruise for New Year's Eve dinner party.

It will be very crowded on New Year’s Eve. If you don’t like that situation, you still can enjoy the fireworks from your own home by watching New Year’s Eve fireworks live broadcast on the TV.

Prepare, so you can have a safe and the best view on New Year’s Eve.

Sydney Tower

If you visit Sydney city, you will see very high tower, this tower is called Sydney Tower (formerly known as AMP Tower or Centrepoint Tower). This tower height is 309 meters from the ground to the very top.

Sydney Tower is located in the shopping area which is on the corner of Market Street and Pitt Street, Sydney city. Access to this tower is from level 5 Westfield Shopping Centre.

From the top of Sydney Tower you will get extraordinary experiences, beautiful view of Sydney City and beyond. I recommend the Sydney Tower as a must do life experience to the tourists who visit to Sydney.

I personally really enjoy Sydney Tower revolving buffet restaurant. This restaurant offers a wide variety of foods. I spent my time with my family here and we really enjoy the foods at this restaurant. We love the experience because while we enjoy our foods, we also enjoy the view. You can see Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, the ships sailing on the sea and the whole Sydney city from the height of 250 meters above the ground and 360 degree view. It's an absolutely unique dining experience.

Sydney Tower revolving buffet restaurant is the highest revolving restaurant in the Southern Hemisphere. The floor is revolving slowly, it takes 70 minutes to make one full round. This make visitors really relax and comfortable to see the view while enjoying their lunch or dinner.

If you have time, it’s also good to visit observation deck, you'll find warm and friendly staffs that will help and guide you, tell you some of the best views to spot. If you come with children, for sure they will enjoy this. They will explore a 360 degree of Sydney view. The kids love to tell the places that they have been visited. They will get so excited.

You will see clearly the whole Sydney city and surrounding suburbs. You can spot other attraction places from here such as: Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Darling Harbour, Sydney Chinatown, Australian National Maritime Museum, SydneyAquarium, Bondi Beach and many more.

Another thing you and your family will enjoy at Sydney Tower is 4D Cinema. This cinema takes you to the fourth dimension; you will feel the effects of the film.

If you're brave enough, you can try Skywalk. You will walk on the glass floor from the height of 268 meters above the ground. You will spend 45 minutes on Skywalk. It means for 45 minutes you will enjoy the view from 268 meters high outside the tower. If you are not afraid of heights, for sure you will enjoy this activity.

If there is a big event such as New Year’s Eve or Australia Day, Darling Harbour always have spectacular shows and fireworks. It is a good time for the whole family to have a good fun.

You will find playground for the kids, fountains, free attractions, acrobatics and parks.

You also can relax and enjoy your time at Tumbalong Park with the family and let the children play and run around the park. This is what I and my family always do.

Darling Harbour's motorise trains operate everyday. It will take you from one side of Darling Harbour to the other side. There is a fee for this facility. This train is really helpful to save your energy and time. You will enjoy this, especially the kids. You will see there are many of fountains at Darling Harbour.

Darling Harbour is actually only walking distance from many points in the Sydney CBD.

How to get there:
By train: alight at Town Hall station or Central station. From Town Hall station walk down hill along Druitt Street, Bathurst Street or Liverpool Street to Darling Harbour. From Central station, walk toward Haymarket or Chinatown and then walk west to Darling Harbour.

By lightrail: alight at Convention Centre station.

By monorail: alight at Convention station, Darling Park station or Harbourside station.

By car: you can park at Sydney Convention Centre, Sydney Entertainment Centre or Harbourside Shopping Centre.

Wild Life Sydney is really special wildlife park which is a treasure collection of the unique and unusual flora and fauna of Australia.

In the Nightfall habitat, you will see animals such as; bandicoots, gliders, bettongs, possums, bats, potoroos and also quolls.

Another interesting thing to see is Bugs Garden. You will encounter the incredible world of crawling bugs. You will see a lot of type of insects such as bees, spiders, cockroach and many more other bugs.

Wild Life Sydney is not only offering animals, but it's also offering a lot of variation of fascinating as well as unique Australian flora.

If you would like to buy souvenir at Wild Life Sydney, there is a gift shop at the exit.

Australian National Maritime Museum

The Australian National Maritime Museum offers indoor and outdoor attraction. This is really good entertainment for everyone especially for the family.

Australian National Maritime Museum is located on the western side of Darling Harbour. The address is 2 Murray Street, Darling Harbour, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia. The location is really strategies. It's not far from the CBD and it's in the attraction area of waterfront Darling Harbour.

You will notice the building structure of Australian National Maritime Museum is very unique with a roofline like waves and sails.

This is actually a great museum, it has variety of exhibits about maritime.

The museum exhibits such as European navigation, information about Indigenous, maritime defence, aquatic sport, Captain Cook's vessel of discovery, James Craig the 1874 tall ship and you can get into the amazing world of underwater warfare submarine. A guided tour shows how the crews worked and lived in there.

You will also see the Vaughan Evans Library that offers about 30,000 titles, the conservation laboratory, maritime museum collection storage, boat building workshops, American tools that used on ships, ship model workshop, old rafts from Aboriginal tribes, a lot of photos, a lot of display and many more. Guided tours are available in this museum. It's better to have full tour that allows you to venture on the warship as well as the submarine.

The museum is actually very well presented with lots of exhibits. Several interactive displays to make children attracted. Come early so you will have enough time to browse, because it’s a lot more to see.

Many families come to Australian National Maritime Museum; they enjoy the exhibitions and activities in there. Also a lot of school students as well as local and international tourists visit to Australian National Maritime Museum.

Australian National Maritime Museum also offers great program of fun activities for children in various age groups at the weekends and school holidays.

You can enjoy you lunch at Yots Café and Bar that have beautiful waterfront view and open air. There is a kiosk too. Porthole Kiosk, it's only at the back of Yots Café and Bar, you can buy snacks and drinks at this kiosk.

I and my family are really enjoyed in this museum. This museum is world class museum. This museum will give you several hours of excitement, a lot of information and entertainment. A must see attraction!

The Australian National Maritime Museum is open daily from 9.30am to 5pm (close at 6.00pm in January) and closed on 25 December (Christmas Day).

If you travel by train, get off at Town Hall station and walk across Pyrmont Bridge.

Sydney Chinatown is actually the oldest and the largest Chinatown in Australia.

You will see there are two big gateways with Chinese Lion ornament.

The centre of Sydney Chinatown is actually in Dixon Street where you will find a lot of Chinese restaurants, Chinese shops selling almost all kinds of Asian products. Dixon Street is design for pedestrian only so you can walk safely.

Sydney Chinatown is truly impressive mixture of Asian culture, shopping and culinary.

Chinatown in Sydney is really unique and worthwhile experience for everyone especially for tourists. You will find a lot of Chinese culture offering some of the best Chinese festivals, history, oriental architecture, Chinese shops, street lanterns and Chinese food.

Sydney Chinatown is basically similarly to other Chinatowns in other cities of the world. It’s always great for bargain shopping and eating.

You will see a lot of traditional shops and restaurants in there. Also you will find shopping malls, food courts, and bakery. Yum Cha restaurants and food court always busy in Sydney Chinatown. Many grocery shops are selling traditional Chinese veggies and also fruits that are not commonly available on any other grocery shops in other suburbs.

Most of the times I went to Chinatown for eating and enjoy my time with family walk around the area. I always enjoy spending time together with my family.

You can relax and rest your legs soon after long day walking. Visit one of Chinese restaurants, enjoy the food and relax. Many people come to Chinatown to eat and drink, especially on the weekends; many people come with their family for Yum Cha. I really love Yum Cha, so... yummy... Chinatown is one of my favourite places.

If you look for inexpensive food for lunch or dinner, you can try Sussex street food court or Dixon food court.

A lot of people enjoy late night dining at Chinatown. You can have a seat inside the restaurant or you can choose to have a seat at the front of the restaurant where you can enjoy the sky and see the moon and the stars.

Enjoy and take your time to shop in Chinatown. If you look for gifts for your friends or family, you can find it easily at Chinatown. There many shops you can visit. All you need to do is walk along the streets and find the shop you like to visit.

In Sydney Chinatown there are many other Asian Nationalities, so it's not only Chinese. In this area, you will also find a lot of different food from Asian country such as: Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia and many more.

Every Friday night there is a Night Markets at Sydney Chinatown along Dixon Street between Goulburn Street and Hay Street. It opens every Friday from 3.00pm to 11.30pm. The market selling everything from jewellery, mobile phone accessories, computer accessories, clothing, watch, Australia souvenirs, lingerie, sunglasses, toys, candles, fragrances, arts and crafts, hats, crystals, beauty products, handbags, footwear and also a lot of variety range of Asian foods freshly cook. Chinatown Night Markets on Friday evenings definitely an event not to be missed.

Chinatown always features several of performances throughout the year with all Chinese festivals such as Chinese New Year Celebration is scheduled in Chinatown for more than three weeks usually in February. Chinese New Year celebration in Sydney Chinatown is among the biggest and most spectacular Chinese New Year festivals outside Asia.

If you came from other city or overseas, there are many hotels right in Chinatown and surrounding area for you to stay with affordable prices.

Sydney Chinatown is located next to Darling Harbour. It is not far from Central Train station. It's also close from Town Hall train station.

If you travel by train, get off at Central train station then walk for about 10 minutes to Chinatown.

If you travel by bus, take any bus that pass through George Street then get off at Hay Street, Haymarket.

You also can use monorail, get off at Chinatown station.

If you use LightRail, get off at Capital Square or Paddy's markets.

One of original market in Australia is Sydney's Paddy's Markets. Paddy's Markets are Sydney's largest and oldest market in Sydney. Entry to this market is free.

The market supplies for locals and tourists. In this market you will find a lot of variety of products such as vegetables, fresh fruit, seafood, jewellery, toys, sunglasses, clothing, footwear, luggage, electrical goods, bags, lingerie, incense, pets supplies, flowers, homewares, key rings, opals, didgeridoo, sheep skin, sporting goods, stationary, watch, mobile phone accessories, arts and crafts and a lot of Australia souvenirs.

Sydney's Paddy's Markets is one of Sydney's main souvenirs supplier for the tourist.

For tourist, this market is a must go place in the case where you wish to get Australia discounted souvenirs. This will be the place that you can find a great deal price for presents to your friends and family back home.

Visit this place first before you begin purchasing your souvenirs on other places.

I and my family visited Paddy’s Market for a few times. Mostly we buy fruits, because the price is really cheap. Also we bought some Australia souvenirs to give to our overseas friends. The prices are so good, a lot of variety of products.

If you hungry, there are some stalls selling foods, such as kebab, sausages and chips. Or you can visit the foodcourt on the top floor of the building. There are many restaurants around Paddy's markets. You can go to chinatown too to find more restaurant in there.

If you travel by train, get off at Town Hall or Central Stations then walk about five minutes to Paddy's Market's.

If you use bus, there are some bus stop right outside the door. Get the bus that goes to Haymarket or Chinatown. For Sydney Explorer bus, it stops right in front of the market.

You can use monorail too; get off at Haymarket station, right at the door of Paddy's market.

You also can travel by LightRail. Also stop at Haymarket station.

If you drive, you can park at Wilson Parking Station at Quay Street or you can park at Sydney Entertainment Centre Parking Station.

IMAX Theatre Sydney

Today, I want to share my experience about Imax Theatre Sydney at Darling Harbour.

I took my family to see a 3D movie at Imax Theatre Sydney. My kids are so happy. It is amazing, beautiful experience, because the screen is huge. IMAX is the greatest movie experience.

The IMAX Theatre building is very noticeable using yellow and black checkerboard style on the building gives Imax theatre a unique characteristic.

Imax theatre using crystal clear images and the screen is ten times bigger compared to the standard movie theatre appearance plus the digital surround sound make the sound come from every corner of the room.

Imax theatre is the world's biggest cinema screen with size at 29.42 meters high by 35.73 meters wide. The height is up to eight storeys building high. Imax theatre has 540 seats capacity.

Watch spectacular 2D and 3D movies on the World's biggest theatre screen. Watch the highest quality movie with massive screen and collection of several movies including documentary movie, it's really give the best experience for everyone.

The IMAX 3D movie sensation brings you in to the movie. It's make it so real, make you feel like you really want to touch it.

If you enjoy eating while watching the movie, you can buy snacks and drinks from the Candy Bar at the foyer such as popcorn, chocolates and soft drinks.

There are many restaurants, cafes and bars around the area too. You can visit Harbourside Shopping Centre; they have many restaurants, cafes and bars in there. You also can find food at Cockle Bay Wharf, King Street Wharf or Chinatown.

The location is really strategic. It's in the busy entertainment area. It's close to Sydney Wildlife World, Chinese Garden, Sydney Chinatown, Sydney Aquarium, Australian National Maritime Museum and Powerhouse Museum.

The IMAX Theatre Sydney address is 31 Wheat Road, Darling Harbour, Sydney NSW 2000.

To get there is easy. If you travel by train or bus to Town Hall station then walk downhill to Darling Harbour. You also can use ferry to Darling Harbour. If you use Light rail, get off at Pyrmont Bay station or Paddy's Market Station and if you use Monorail then get off at Darling Harbour station.

If you drive, you can park at Sydney Convention Centre, Sydney Entertainment Centre or Harbourside Shopping centre. There are several public carpark buildings around Darling Harbour.

Sydney Aquarium

Sydney Aquarium is definitely recommended as one among the greatest place to visit in Sydney. It is one of Sydney's the most popular attractions. A vacation to Sydney Aquarium has always been great activity for family, especially for the kids.

Sydney Aquarium located on the eastern side of Darling Harbour and next to Wild Life Sydney.

A lot of people visit Sydney Aquarium everyday. Family, tour and school students. And many tourists too, local and overseas tourists.

Approximately 650 species consisting of more than 12,000 fish and water creatures.

The best part at Sydney Aquarium is walking through under water see-through tunnel where you can see many sharks from small to huge sharks. They swim quietly on top of you. You will see many other big fish too including massive stingrays and giant turtles.

Dugongs, penguins, jellyfish, a lot of colourful fish and the largest Great Barrier Reef display in the world. The variety of water creature is really amazing.

Take the opportunity from the informative talks to understand more details on the Dugongs or the Great Barrier Reef and in the afternoon you can see penguin colony feeding time.

Make sure you have the opportunity to get hands-on with the touch pools. Kids really love this activity.

New feature at Sydney aquarium is Claws. It is all related to lobsters and also crabs. One of the Claws exhibit is the Japanese Spider Crab. This is the world's biggest species of crab.

You will also see the huge massive Tasmanian Crab.

Getting to Sydney Aquarium certainly is easy. If you travel by train, get off at Town Hall Station and walk to the west to Darling Harbour. If you catch the monorail, get off at Darling Park Station. You also can use ferry, get off at Aquarium Pier.

Sydney Aquarium is open every day, 365 days a year. Opening hours are 9:00am to 8:00pm, except Christmas Day close at 6:00pm.

Chinese Garden

Chinese Garden also known as Chinese Garden of Friendship is actually located in the middle of Sydney city at Southern end of Darling Harbour close to Sydney Entertainment Centre and Sydney Chinatown.

Chinese Garden specially designed and built by Chinese landscape architects and gardeners. The Garden is literally governed by the Taoist principals associated with Yin Yang and also the five elements: water, fire, earth, wood and metal.

The gardens were formally launched in 1988 and this garden was called the Garden of Friendship which represents the link established between Guangzhou in China and Sydney in Australia.

Travel along the snaky pathways as they take you through private courtyards and also traditional pagoda design pavilions.

A fortyfive minutes audio tour is actually available at Chinese Garden and so it gives comprehensive understanding of the structure philosophy as well as history of the Garden.
