You know what?! I should have started that long time ago! But.... Better late than never, I'll start sharing funny expression that I get to know!

Today's one is "butter fingers" which means that you're dropping things a bit too much.. How weird but relevant is that! It's seems to be a Canadian thing :)

En français les enfants!
En gros l'expression "butter finger", traduisez "doigts de beurre" vous décrit comme qq'un qui échappe un trop souvent ce que vous avez dans les mains :) a priori c'est une expression canadienne ;) merci Nicole :)

Karangi shipwreck

This week i went to have a walk close to the Sydney Olympic Park. Can you imagine those games where 13 years ago? I hardly do!

Anyway.. I went there because I wanted to see a shipwreck being there for over 40 years. The ship itself was made in 1941, and went to war shortly after the construction has been finished.

It's a cute walk, easy to get there by train and to get to the park. I guess not so many people get there, especially during autumn, so it was a bit empty, but more enjoyable from my point of view :)

I got a coffee and a wrap and then walked toward the wreck. You can see birds and spiders all along the way. Quite fresh but so enjoyable because of the warn sun! Few people were riding their bikes, such a good place for that!

I did not really take any pics of the wreck itself it seems but here's the video!

Father forgets

J'ai découvert ça il y a quelques semaines.. Je pense que c'est a garder en tête.. Même si c'est pas toujours facile dans la vie de tous les jours..

The spot festival

The spot festival is a nice way to discover another suburb, and a cute neighbourhood still in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, it's basically right up the hill from Coogee.

The festival is on one of the first sunday of March every year, check the date online, it's always different!

There are plenty of different shops that setup a stand in the street, there are some dance and music shows. Great to get a beer or a coffee at +Bianco Nero Espresso Randwick after a quick swim at Coogee beach :)

Ads... that's a big market, but why would you push to sell something to some people that dont even care about your products or services ?

We are used to that kind of shit for quite a long time now... ads in your mailbox, ads in your email inbox... why does some companies still do that, when some other fights against spams, and most of "customers" throw the papers directly to the garbage ?

When will they understand that it cost them more money and give them a bad reputation to do a bad advertisement campaign, rather than a good and smart one ?

I though about that when seeing this shared article, Twitter spamming your account to finally make some money ? no thank you

Oh you, smart people, paid a lot, when will you understand ?

What if WE were the problem ?

Question : why couldn't we act in France the same way we do somewhere else ?

After living in Québec, I've found that things were easier, find a flat, a job, go out, restaurants, open a bank account (yeah 15 minutes with no rendez-vous and it's done) ect... and then I moved to Australia.. and there same experience : easy, a bit expensive because of the currency, but we cant control that, and it's not aussies' fault, neither the government's (just the american's one finally lol)

And there, traveling a bit, while in Alice Springs, that question comes to me ! is that my fault ? our fault ?

It though about that when I was wondering how so many french people were able to travel that much if they dont have any cash ? because there are french people everywhere !!! even in Alice springs, lost place in the middle of the furthest country ever ! please explain me how !

So yeah in my mind, it's the society's fault, governments', whatever... but could it be just a perception's issue ?
Is my biggest challenge, if I go back to France, would be to deal with problems the same way I did in Canada and Australia ?

What do you think ? Just being far from France that long made me forget problems (what i though it was the first times i went back) or did it makes me realize that I could play with my own rules ?

Travel briefing

Traveling is fun ! that's my last 3 weeks around Australia :) but i'm glad it's finished tho ! because i'm broke, need to go back to work now and save for the next trip :)

And thanks to Google Latitude that's keeping track for me, I can see I've already done one third, it's quite a long way to go but i'll get there sometime ! (wish they would have start the service before, I'd be even further at this time :)

But you know, I got plans ! And I hope to do the blue part in 2012 (which will be hard to do), it's gonna help me getting to the moon !

Alternative life?

A friend, that i talk about society and other stuffs with, asked me if the year that I spent in Australia made me find a way to live in a way more alternative... and even if we spoke about that before, I've started to think about it again to be able to give her an updated answer.

Indeed I've learned a lot during this year, about other ways to live, other ways to "work", but I've learned that you can't totally leave that society because even if you don't buy the last gadget, follow the last trend, you still need to, at least, pay your taxes, and if you want a minimum of comfort, which is understandable, you'll have to pay for some energy sometime...

So, being a hippie is not the easiest thing to do nowadays! You'll always need to either work for a bit of money,or have a kind of business whatever it is.. the question is, which one will fit with that kind of life style, more relax, more social, maybe "greener", less boring than a office or shop job...

I got quite an idea at the moment.. but I'm not sure it'd work well in France's (Europe's?) economic situation that's getting worse and worse.. and people won't be able to cut the rope with their small habits, prefabbed by TV brainwashing machine.. they forgot that living is "experiencing something new" and not "buying something new"..

Do you have any comments? Suggestions?

Alright, Alice Springs is warm and dry, Cairns is warm and wet! U feel the humidity directly after the first step out of the plane!

But it's a nice small city to visit, rain forest walks, scuba diving, snorkeling and sky diving can be done there, so you can keep yourself busy!!

It's really touristic and there are backpackers everywhere. But there's no beach! Yep the coast is not really the best to chill in the sand and crystal blue water.. mud and brown water is what's waiting for you there.. but in the middle of the city, right aside the ocean, there's a public swimming pool, with some sand benches and that's really cool!

We stayed only few days and we did some snorkeling which was really great! Colorful fishes, turtles, giant clams were here to give us a nice time :)

Australia's centre

So finally we land in Alice Springs, NT where the weather is finally really Australian :)

We jump in a shuttle going to one of the backpacker "in town" and we arrive in a cosy, relax backpacker named Annie's place, quite cheap, but good value, a swimming pool, free Wi-Fi what else do we need?

We book a room for three nights and a tour the day after to go to Uluru!

The tour is a bit expensive, but after doing it, quite a good value, relax, interesting, not rushy and fun!

And what an experience, really enjoy going there.. tomorrow we fly to Cairns, Qld! Yeah back to the beach!

Arrivée a Adélaide

Et voila après une petite semaine de route a travers le ouest Victoria et l'Etat d'Australie du sud, nous voila arrivé a Adélaide, capitale de son état.

La construction est très rectiligne et pré-conçue comme beaucoup de villes nouvelles sans contraintes géographiques particulières. Malgré ça, il y a pas mal de bâtiments "historiques", j'ai pensé a Montpellier, le côté sudiste, relaxe, pas trop gros.. la plage accessible par tram...

Nous rendons le van aujourd'hui et partons demain pour Alice springs pour 2 jours.. puis Cairns.. peut être on va aller voir le gros caillou ;)

On the great ocean road!

Bon ben nous voila parti en direction d'Adelaide ! La magnifique route de l'océan en fond de décor :)

Parti de Melbourne après avoir déposer +David Jaquenoud et +Emmanuel Anselme a l'aeroport, passé a travers Geelong, et fais une baignade a Torquay, on entre sur cette route qui longe la cote sud de l'Australie !

Après qq heures on s'arrête a Lorne pour dîner et dormir, puis le lendemain on voit les 12 apôtres, et d'autres spectaculaires falaises avant d'arriver a Warrnambool, ou notre amie +Alexandra Linsolas fait son 3 mois de fermière :)

Mais les retrouvailles ne sont que de courte durée, le matin est la et nous devons déjà repartir !!!

Que va-t-on découvrir aujourd'hui ??

Après 3 mois de travail

Me voila de retour en vadrouille, je sors de l'avion et m'en vais vers Melbourne pour qq jours.

Les vols de sydney vers Melbourne sont fréquents et relativement peu chers (100-200$ si vous vous y prenez pas le jour même), et dure une heure, bien plus rapide que l'auto, surtout que la cote Est est pas la plus intéressante...

Par contre, entre Melbourne et adelaide, il y a la great océan road qui vaut le détour selon le dires ! Et on va conduire avec my mate tibo pour la faire, on va partir de Melbourne lundi ou mardi prochain ;)

Je vous laisserai savoir comment c'est, sûrement avec une video en plus !

Sculptures by the sea

En ce moment un truc sympa a faire, c'est un evenement qui expose des sculptures le long de la côte entre Bondi et Coogee...

Il y a environ une centaine d'oeuvres et toutes differentes.. une maison en parti construite en bilot de bois, une tortue faite avec des pneus, des barques dans les arbres et d'autres complètements abstraites...

Voici la video que j'ai faite a Coogee ! je savais pas trop a quoi m'attendre, donc je découvrais en meme temps, ca donne un air de musée, mais tellement cool quand c'est dehors avec le soleil et pleins de monde autour, profitant de la plage, curieux de chacunes des oeuvres... Awesome !

Ca dure 3 semaines et ya tellement de choses que vous pouvez facilement faire trois fois le tour et découvrir des nouvelles choses a chaque fois...

Le Victoria c'est bientot fini !

Après qq temps dans le Victoria, me voila qui retourne en NSW.. Profiter de l'ete, de la plage, et de sydney et finalement de ce que je suis venu chercher en Australie :)

Melbourne est une ville superbe, et agréable, mais dans ma tête c'est sydney que je suis venu chercher.. Donc Melbourne restera juste une ville de tourisme pour moi !

Avec ses églises, ses bâtiments plus contemporains, ses fleurs, ses restaurants originaux et abordables, Melbourne est une ville pour ceux qui ne cherchent pas l'ocean tant que ça..

Mais en janvier normalement je serais de nouveau de passage, pour profiter un peu plus et peut être même assister a un festival.. Qui sait ?

Merci Melbourne, tu vas me manquer.. Un peu..

Before we couldnt compare prices so much, gadgets were taking ages to come from overseas, cant search for a better paid job that easily..

Question : But how can a company afford to pay its employees more, while selling products and services at a cheaper price ?
Answer : By reducing the quality, by buying at a cheaper price (third-world), asking more work from their employees ect...
Consequences : Third-world going poorer, employees getting more tired, less healthy, having more shitty products, that we have to change more often..

Is it what WE want ? I don't think so..

Q : But who created that ?
A : It's companies' leaders who wanted a bigger salary and decided to charge more for a same (or lower) quality
C : so as a good example everyone is willing more, want bigger $$, to spend more on shittier things that they dont need

Q : is it something that could change ?!
A : I dont think so..
C : we're fucked !

Q : Does the people at the top of the pyramid have an influence ?!
A : I totally think so..
C : but we first need a global wake-up call, and that we all work in the same direction : forget that..

Une autre place, une autre découverte !

Peut être que mon voyage est la pour m'apprendre plus que je pensais... Nutrition, business, culture, et maintenant psychologie ?

Après Brisbane je comptais monter au nord vers Cairns, finalement je me retrouve dans le Victoria, a Melbourne et je dois faire encore 2 semaines pour finir mon quota de jours de travail "spécifique" pour pouvoir demander ma 2ème année...

Je prend une semaine pour visiter Melbourne, et la je dois trouver une place pour finir ça.. Mais mon insouciance me fait m'occuper de ça a la dernière minute et la place ou j'ai décider d'aller ne compte pas pour le nombre de jour car ne rentre pas ds la catégorie... Anyway c trop tard, c 'est déjà décidé.. Et puis c'est avec des chevaux ça va être cool !

Pis en arrivant, j'apprend et je réalise que le couple sont tous les 2 psychiatres et Meg, utilise les chevaux pour travailler avec certains clients ! De plus, la 2ème semaine, ils reçoivent un groupe de 8 personnes !! Leur "spécialité" n'est pas une analyse banale, ils prennent en compte la globalité de la personne et du contexte, ça porte un nom allemand : gestalt !

Entk j'ai commencer le livre mais maintenant il faut analyser et incorporer !

Descente dans le Victoria

Donc me voila parti du Queensland, direction Sydney, escale a Yamba sur la route, puis Port Maquarie, deux places que j'ai pas mal aimé. Beau temps et plage c'est gagnant a tous coup :)

Puis direction Sydney pour 2 semaines.

Bon, je vais pas vous dire que le fruit-picking est ma job préféré, mais en attendant c'etait plutot cool.. L'experience du wwoofing etait intéressante et en plus on a un beau bronzage en repartant :)

En plus ca permet de voir un peu la faune, original des environs.. entre les serpents, les araignées, les chenilles, les oiseaux multicolores, les grenouilles, les walabis et j'en passe...

En plus ca permet de visiter les alentours, et de découvrir un nouveau business model :) ahah

Mais toutes bonnes choses ont une fin...

L'eau stralie

Allo,

Bon suite au sejour chez les Zikos, j'ai appris qq trucs... et malgré leur lifestyle original, ca a l'air d'etre pas si stupide que ca...

Original, plutot oui... leur diet c'est : pas de dejeuner, pour midi juste des fruits (pomme, pasteque, banane, raisin ect...) et le soir juste des legumes :) jamais de viande, de produits laitiers, d'oeufs, rarement du pain... Bon végétarien, pkoi pas, mais pas mélanger les fruits et les légumes.. pkoi ?! En fait ils considérent que ca demande trop d'energie et d'effort pour fournir les enzymes ect.. pour digérer trop d'aliments différents... donc les toasts avec du miel c'est pas bon, avec de l'avocat par contre c'est ok :)

Leur diete est censé garder un pH sanguin neutre en evitant les aliments qui le rende acide (d'ou la viande ect.. voici une liste des aliments a consommer, et ceux a eviter) et en gardant ce pH neutre, il considére eviter les maladies bénines, mais aussi plus grave, osteoporose, rhumatismes, et meme cancers. Un exemple : d'apres ce que j'ai lu, lorsque le sang est trop acide, le corps doit puiser les mineraux pour rétablir l'équilibre. Il prend ces minéraux (calcium entre autre) dans les os ce qui les rends plus fragile au fil du temps, et donc résulte a l'osteoporose !

Le truc bizarre c'est qu'en arrivant a ma nouvelle place au Mont Tamborine, je suis tombé sur un livre (paru en 1994 !) corroborant leur dire et expliquant meme d'autres aspects : industrie alimentaire pourrie, overdose des poulets aux anti-biotiques (grippe aviaire), bourrage des bovins avec n'importe quoi (vache folle), ratissage des océans (dégradation de la qualité du poisson) ! donc je m'y intéresse un peu plus ! tout ca pour juste des intérets commerciaux, et des effets négatifs pour votre santé ! et je pense a plusieurs d'entre vous en disant ca !

En gros, calmez-vous sur le McDo, et autre merde, et achetez des légumes a la place des chips et autre ...

10 jours chez les Zikos

Bon, comme prevu, me voila rendu au marché, un peu perdu par les indications de Jilianna, mais finalement été chanceu :)

Je pack les plantes avec eux, et en route vers Coolongolook..

Lundi matin, travail : desherbage, pelletage, coupage, plantage ect... au moins c different tous les jours :) ca demande de l'autonomie, et au moins qd tu trouves un moyen de faire la job plus facilement et plus rapidement, ya pas une procedure pour t'emmerder en disant "non faut pas faire comme ca"... bref le but c efficace !

Me voila rendu a Newcastle, je visite la ville, pas tres grande, mais ca tombe bien j'ai juste 3 jours :)

Je suis en attente d'etre ramasser au marché par mes prochains et premiers hotes.. ca va etre cool je pense, différent, pas de timing sur des taches niaiseuses et pas de comparaison stupide avec une seule personne pour savoir si t'es performant ou pas...

Et en effet, meme si le management est pas des plus fabuleux, tu fais la job, tu rencontres des problemes et tu les regles... des imprevus ca existent et faut faire avec...

bref bonne experience
