RED WHITE AND BLUE....OKLAHOMA WE ARE THINKING OF YOU!

Last Saturday was Armed Forces Day and although not much is made of the day, I wanted to make a red white and blue card in honor and memory of those who fight for our freedom. Today while I was working on a DT card, which had to get made first, I had the TV on following the news. Tornadoes were again moving into Oklahoma City where my son, dil, and grandchildren live. I finished posting my card on the DT blog and went to work on pizza dough for supper. In the time it took me to make my sandwich and put the ingredients into the bread maker, the tornado which I had been watching, moved through Moore, Oklahoma, taking a swath a mile to two miles wide out of that area.

I went back to making cards, with the focus on the television as well. It did not take long to make this card. Here is my tribute to the Armed forces as well as my concerns for the people in Oklahoma today. I am so grateful my family there is okay.

IN COLOR SNEAK PEEK 2.....TAGS!

Tonight I finished up five tags made with the new In Colors. I love each color and hope that you will as well. Each tag has the same design, with a little different configuration. I tried to use the card stock in conjunction with stamping to let you see the real colors. There is stamping on colo, on white, embossing and lots of patterns. Hope you have a favorite color, a favorite tag.

SNEAK PEEK.....NEW IN COLORS.....ANOTHER BIRTHDAY CARD!

In just two weeks the new catalog will be unveiled to everyone. with come these gorgeous new colors that so compliment what we already have. Over the next two weeks, I will be using the things I have available in these colors, look for a great set of tags and a giveaway if you comment! Hope you enjoy this card and get an idea what great colors these are.

In order of Heart appearance, the colors are, Strawberry Slush, Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Pistachio Pudding, and Crisp Cantaloupe. These are inks and because of the card stock and stamped patterns, there might be a slight difference especially in the Strawberry Slush which is more pink than red as it looks here. Check back tomorrow with samples in the card stock colors! Every color is just so pretty and I am going to love using them! You all know how much I love color! COLOURQ CHALLENGE #189....HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

How often do you find a friend whose birthday falls on your husband's birthday? When I moved to Trinidad, Colorado, I made such a friend. Happy Birthday Natalie and of course today is my husband, David's birthday as well. This week over on the ColourQ, the colors are fun, happy, and fabulous! Arielle gave us these colors to work with, Basic black, Ruby Red, Calypso, Certainly Celery, and white. Check out the other designer's this week for inspiration with cards and layouts, then join us with yours!

I did not have any stamps that matched the inspiration photo with clean lines, but this card has the same boldness. Love these colors! My card base is matted with white card stock that has been embossed with the stripes folder. The photo does not do this justice as the lines really make the background very bold. I stamped the large Medallion in black, the small ones in Certainly Celery(CCe) several times and then cut them apart. I used the die to cut the Medallions, dry embossed the larger with the dots folder using the hammer, then backed it with a piece of black cs that I fussy cut to fit. I two step stamped the flowers first with Calypso Coral(CC), then with ruby Red inks. The leaves and branches are stamped in CCe, as is the tag, a baker's twine tag bow added and mounted with a dimensional. This card has lots of layers and dimension!

"A DAY LATE.....CARD FOR A CHALLENGE AND MOTHER'S DAY!"

It seems like every time I turn around I am late with online posting! Yesterday was no exception. My sil, Darla came to visit with my niece Deborah on Thursday. We had a fun time and supper out at my favorite Deli. She brought me the beautiful flowers shown below. I put them in the dining room Sunday and immediately Daisy was up on the table and had nibbled the rose while I retrieved my camera. I had to turn the rose to the back for this picture. The Lilies are fully open today and gorgeous! Thanks ladies for the wonderful flowers!

Next is the picture I took last night of Bugsy after a long Mother's Day. I guess he was worn out as he settled down for a nap! He is such a funny cat, the one you saw eating Catnip in the previous post.

Last is my card, that was supposed to be in for the Tuesday Trigger challenge over on the Moxie Fab World Blog. Now I have had three weeks to get it in and for some reason, it wasn't in my head and finished until today! Pink is not my color folks and somehow I always have trouble even with the photo.

So there it is all the things I should have posted yesterday. Hope you had a wonderful Monday. I will be back very early Tuesday morning with a birthday card for the ColourQ challenge! Guess whose birthday is tomorrow.

A LITTLE OF THIS AND A LITTLE OF THAT...FIRST TOMATOES...CATNIP ANYONE?

Hope you had a good Tuesday. It was another beautiful day here, we were in the 80's, but there was a nice breeze. I stopped to take pictures this morning so I could share with you my first tomatoes and peppers. I also have a picture of my gigantic Catnip plant, which all the cats think is just heavenly, but Bugsy spends the most time eating the leaves! I worked late this evening on my metal bird. Here is a sneak peak at the work in progress!

I planted three plants inside a bird cage that I planted in the pot. The leaves from all the plants have grown through and in spite of the cats nibbling and me picking off big leaves, it is thriving!Some of these leaves are bigger than lemons!

This is one sweet pepper, it is about 2.5 inches and I don't know how big it will get before it starts to turn, no it is not a hot one! the plant is only 10" tall.

I am so proud of these tomatoes, the plants have struggled with leave spot due to our strange weather. The birds haven't discovered them!

These tiny Petunia's(at least that is what I call them have such happy faces. Behind them in a large pot is some Creeping Thyme that I brought from Colorado. It grows in the cold and the hot, creeping and replanting itself!

This is just the begging of this tin bird. I applied several layers of alcohol inks after embossing with two folders. I can't tell you what I am going to do next, but the bird does have wings! COLOURQ CHALLENGE #188.....IT'S ONLY FITTING!

I can't believe we are into the second Tuesday of May already! Today's challenge over on the ColourQ, comes right before Mother's Day. Arielle's prompt photo provides inspiration, the colors: Sage Shadow, So Saffron, Calypso Coral, Blush Blossom and white. Find your inspiration in the projects posted on the challenge site. Every week there is such a good array of talent that I always look forward to seeing each card or layout!

I had this card planned for week's, when I first saw this dress. I love using the new dress form and clothes die. My card base is kraft and I matted with white. I first used my die cut negative as a stencil, rubbing BB ink with a dauber, second I cut a dress form out of BB card stock and glued behind. I cut three white and one S Sh dresses. I actually cut more as it took awhile before I knew exactly where I wanted the flowers to be. The left dress is CC rubbed afterwards with the same ink, the center dress was stamped in three colors and has no rubbing, the green is behind, and the last or So S dress was stamped then rubbed with ink. I added a stamped off heart and Mom in CC, and of course stamped the leaves in the background. The dresses have an airy feel which is how I intended it.

It was another perfect May day, cool in the morning and warm in the late evening. I have spent so much time outside lately that I find the days passing quickly. I also will pick my first two Cherry tomatoes in the morning. They are as ripe as I dare let them get or they will be bird breakfast for sure! MAY DAYS ......&.... GRADUATION!

May is a month when a lot of things are happening, Mother's Day, last minute school and sports events, and of course graduation. I don't know anyone graduating this year, but there is always a reason to have a good card on hand. So tonight I made a fun card, using punches, glitter and shimmer paper.

My colors are red white and blue, red glitter and silver shimmer paper. I stamped versa mark with a chevron stamp, added heat and stick powder then fine red glitter. I think I will never run out of glitter, a little jar goes a long way! I punched stars out of the chevrons and shimmer paper in three sizes. I stamped the congrats grad, die cut some rick rack and dry embossed some diamonds onto a piece of white cs. This was a fairly simple card to create, I just had to clean up the red glitter!!!

The picture is a little fuzzy, sorry! How was your Friday? Here it was the perfect May day after a full day and night of horrible winds, that left my green bean plants in tatters! Hope you have a wonderful and quiet Saturday!

HAPPY MAY....CELEBRATE IN LIFE...REMEMBER THEREAFTER!

May 1 is always been a special day for me, it was my dad's birthday. For as long as I remember, my mom always made it a special day. My dad loved this and we always had a wonderful celebration. But what about after they someone special is gone? Today would have been my dad's 98th birthday. He was not here to celebrate, but I was here to remember him! Wednesday night I made a card that he would have loved. Dad, I will always love you!

I started out with so many things running through my brain. I finally settled on these colors, Pool Party, Raspberry Ripple, Crumb Cake and Primrose Petals.I did a lot of stamping and die cutting before I got everything made and placed like I wanted. The result was this card. I hand wrote the sentiment, it just made the card more personal to me.

The pinks here seem like they are red, I haven't quite decided even after a year if they are really the colors there names suggest! but I do love using them and I do love the card! Hope you had a wonderful Wednesday, now giving thanks for Thursday!

COLOURQ CHALLENGE #187....ANOTHER RETIRING FAVORITE!

It is a beautiful Tuesday morning, this last day of April! April has come and gone with the last challenge of the the month over on the ColourQ. Arielle's color for this challenge are, Midnight Muse, Marina Mist, retiring Pretty in Pink, Wisteria Wonder and white. What will you do with these fabulous colors? Take a look at the other designer's inspirational projects and then you decide.

The card base is Midnight Muse(MMu) and is matted with Marina Mist(MMa) and white cs. The background stamp was inked with Pretty in Pink(PP) and Wisteria Wonder(WW), stamped and stamped off. The birdcage and eggs were stamped separately and then fussy cut. Colors used are MMu for the cage and eggs, then rubbed with MMi and WW. The sentiment is stamped in WW. I added Crystal Effects to the top of the cage for a little sparkle. This card is clean and simple like the photo.
