Symptoms Of MS : Systemic yeast infection is a much more serious form and is usually felt all over the body. Many people who have this condition are not aware they have an overgrowth of yeast because the symptoms present themselves in the same way many other diseases do. The most common systemic yeast infection occurs in the gut and many people start to have stomach problems which are often mistaken for other illnesses. The symptoms may be fatigue, diarrhea, bloating, constipation, mood swings and the symptoms are many and unique to the individual person. What the yeast does is to cause a ‘leaky bowel’ syndrome where with their strong roots, they are able to penetrate through the stomach walls and find their way to the bloodstream. This will happen if the yeast has multiplied at a very high rate due to enabling environment. When yeast finds the right condition in the gut to multiply, it changes from its simplicity to a very strong and complex form which is more dangerous because it has very strong roots and it is able to implant itself very easily in the intestine walls. As a result, a way or passage is created where yeast can multiply in the bloodstream. All this causes so much discomfort and the result is an irritable bowel cycle and a host of other conditions. They include oral thrush, food sensitivity, muscle pain, respiratory problems, bladder inflammation, urinary tract infection, confusion, memory loss, short span of concentration, depression, insomnia, learning disability, eczema, acne, hives, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, systemic lupus, anemia and the list goes on. This is how serious systemic yeast infection is.Some specialist can tell what the problem is by just listening to the symptoms but the conclusive tests for systemic yeast infection are available. They will include testing of the stool to determine if yeast is present. The test is really simple unlike other tests. If you are found to have a very high amount of yeast then this proves that there is an imbalance of organisms in your intestines which has caused the yeast. There are so many medication options available to treat the illness and going through the internet will reveal so many remedies and solutions to the problem. One practical solution I found was the use of diet and supplements to overcome yeast. It is a process that takes time to see how certain foods will react in your body. In the treatment, patients are advised to keep off every food that contains yeast.Whole foods are highly advised together with green vegetables. The foods that you should stay away from include all refined sugars. Honey is also not good for this condition because it will encourage yeast. You should take fruits that are recommended in the treatment and the fruits that are not good for you are grapes, raisins, dates, prunes and figs. Alcoholic drinks will make you case worse and avoiding them will improve your condition. The supplements include probiotics and they work very well to discourage the growth of yeast. There are so many other treatments for systemic yeast infections an you have to be careful to get a treatment that will not harm your health and one that will work.

Symptoms Of MS :
Schizophrenia, a brain illness, a mental disorder, is considered one of the top 10 causes of disability worldwide. Because of that, many studies are about what cause schizophrenia. It is an important disease of ours days, and gain more and more interest with every day. Many connections were tried with many and various diseases, many theories felled apart and many seems that might sow something that could give us hope.

The problem is that to make this studies is important to have a large area of research, many patients to study, many trained personal, special medical centers that must be very well equipped with high class technology machines, in conclusion involves many, many people and money. And most important of all, it needs a long period of time to do such studies, because the illness evolves very slow.

Schizophrenia is similar in several autoimmune illnesses and disorders like multiple sclerosis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Like the autoimmune diseases, schizophrenia is not present at birth but develops during adolescence or young adulthood. It comes and goes in cycles of remission and relapse, and it runs in families. Because of these similarities, scientists suspect schizophrenia could fall into the autoimmune category.

The studies are telling that the patients with autoimmune diseases such as interstitial cystitis, Sjogren syndrome, celiac disease, thyrotoxicosis and acquired hemolytic anemia had a 50% higher risk of schizophrenia.

Some scientists think genetics, autoimmune illness and viral infections combine to cause schizophrenia. The genes of people with schizophrenia may tell the immune system to attack the brain after a viral infection. This theory is supported by the discovery that the blood of people with schizophrenia contains antibodies (immune system cells) specific to the brain.

By now, nothing is secure, but the research are continuing.

Symptoms Of MS : Everyday, more and more people are suffering from a condition known as Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS. These are the people who are having a hard time releasing their bowels (constipated) or are suffering from a loose bowel movement (LBM). Whatever their situation is, having an irregular bowel movement is really disturbing. One is a benign disorder, the other a chronic and potentially debilitating disease. The former involves the digestive system, while the latter affects the brain and spinal cord. As different as they may appear to be, irritable bowel syndrome and multiple sclerosis are not entirely independent of each other. They may impact different parts of the body, but studies suggest they have very much something to do with each other. There are different types of irritable bowel syndrome and each has different symptoms and definitely none of these are pleasing. A type of this bowel irritable syndrome includes extreme abdominal pain and cramping.A large number of people are affected by IBS and since it is a functional disorder, there are no physical changes or damage to the bowels. The problem arises due to the malfunctioning of the gastrointestinal tract, specifically the large intestine. In order to diagnose irritable bowel syndrome, one has to check for the symptoms. The symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) vary from person to person. The most common symptoms of IBS are bowel dysfunction accompanied by abdominal discomfort or pain. If this pain or discomfort lasts for around 12 weeks (even if it is non-consecutive) in a period of 12 months then it is an indication of IBS.Food is another factor that contributes to the irritable bowel syndrome. Eating the wrong type of food that does not agree with your digestive system can cause an attack of IBS. Some kinds of food may be good whereas others may worsen the situation. For example, eating a fiber rich diet can help to reduce the symptoms of IBS whereas eating pasta and white bread may prove to be detrimental to the symptoms of the illnessThe irritable bowel syndrome diet also suggests eating either small, frequent meals, or eating smaller portions of your three meals. Large, fat filled meals only serve to irritate your stomach and cause stomach pain, diarrhoea or constipation. Healthy and conscientious eating should be your main goal. Fruits, vegetables, lean meat and whole grain breads will help your stomach to stay on a balanced plane so that you will not have as many flare-ups.As with many things in life, getting IBS help often revolves around to learning the skills needed to prevent it from coming back. Anxiety is believed to be a huge contributing factor for IBS. If you are looking for preventative measures then you need to remove the influence of anxiety from your life and prevent it from taking a toll on your health. If you take active steps to reduce the amount of stress and anxiety in your life you should see a reduction in the symptoms of IBS almost immediately.

Symptoms Of MS : There is significant concern about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, also known as CFS. In fact, there are criteria patients must meet in order to be diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Receiving the diagnosis may be difficult for some patients because the guidelines for diagnosing are very specific. The fatigue must have been present at least six consecutive months and the corresponding symptoms must have developed after the fatigue. A clear definition of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, its symptoms, and treatment options will help sufferers get a clearer understanding of the syndrome.
What is Chronic Fatigue?
The basic definition of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome does not make sufferers feel much better. The syndrome is unexplained and is marked by weakness, fatigue, muscle pain, lethargy, trouble sleeping, and even fever and swollen lymph nodes. There is no known cause for the fatigue that is present in an individual that has no relation to over-exertion and is not rectified by rest.
Symptoms
Some of the symptoms associated with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome have been discussed. However, there is a very long list. There are a variety of symptoms that patients are very aware of and then there are other symptoms only doctors seem to notice. Regardless, when the symptoms are present for a period of time for no apparent cause and seem to have no remedy then Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a frequent diagnosis.
Some of the frequent symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome include:
- Muscle Aches- Persistent Fatigue
- Intermittent Fatigue
- Depression
- Tiredness
- Headache
- Swollen Lymph nodes
- Depression
- Memory Loss
- Weakness
- Difficulty Concentrating
- Achy Joints
Frequently Chronic Fatigue Syndrome begins during periods when individuals have been sick, under a tremendous amount of stress, or for no apparent reason at all. Many individuals have noted that after bouts with the flu, mono, a cold, bronchitis, hepatitis, and other similar illnesses CFS arises. Unfortunately, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome persists for months, sometimes coming and going and other times constantly affecting the patient. Other illnesses begin to clear up after a few days or weeks, but Chronic Fatigue Syndrome sticks around with no clear cause.
Diagnosing Chronic Fatigue
Doctors find it very difficult to diagnose Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The reason why is because so many of its symptoms are symptoms of other illnesses. This is why many doctors like to see patients with the same symptoms that began after the fatigue for at least six months before giving a diagnosis. Obviously, sufferers of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome find the lack of an early diagnosis difficult to bear on top of their symptoms. However, doctors like to rule out diseases like Lupus and Multiple Sclerosis, as well as other diseases, before diagnosing Chronic Fatigue.
Additionally, researchers and doctors are becoming more aware of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and are more likely to make an earlier diagnosis based on fewer symptoms than ever before. That is not to say that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is easy to diagnose, because it is not. However increased awareness and new definitions are helping doctors and patients of Chronic Fatigue each and every day.
Treatment Options
The treatment options for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are varied and include alternative as well as prescription alternatives.
Some of the alternative care management options for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome include avoiding stress and undertaking light exercise. Other treatment options that work for some individuals include massage, aquatic therapy, chiropractic therapy, yoga, self hypnosis, tai chi, and even acupuncture. Psychotherapy has also proven helpful to sufferers of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome because it helps sufferers learn to cope with their symptoms.
Prescription treatment options for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome have not been approved by the FDA. There are however other prescription medications that are used to treat the symptoms presented with Chronic Fatigue. Frequently, the primary use of the medicine is secondary and its side effects are what benefit Chronic Fatigue sufferers. Medicines like antifungals, antidepressants, antivirals, cardiac drugs, antihistamines, immunoglobulins, corticoids, anti-inflammatories, and anti-convulsants among others are frequently prescribed to CFS sufferers.
Do You Have CFS?
If you are worried you have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or have some of the above stated symptoms for months on end then you should make an appointment with your physician. It is a good idea to keep a journal of your symptoms, when they began, and if new ones appear. This will help your doctor make the proper diagnosis and help receive some relief from your symptoms sooner.

Symptoms Of MS : The dramatic increase in the number of cases of Lyme disease has caused a lot of panic in the medical community. Traditionally, it is treated with round after round of antibiotics. Some people never fully recover and the disease can be fatal.

Humans get Lyme disease most commonly from tics, but also from mosquitoes, fleas and mites. People suffering from Lyme disease may initially experience fever, headache, and depression, developing a bull’s eye-shaped rash. If a physician identifies this rash as Lyme disease, then treatment is immediately administered. The sooner antibiotics are given, the better your chances.

But, the treatment of Lyme disease with antibiotics is very controversial. Rounds of antibiotics often need to be repeated, sometimes multiple times, and the symptoms of Lyme disease could never go away or get worse. Some people have suffered endless damaging side effects of prolonged antibiotic treatments and still have long-term debilitating symptoms thought to be caused by Lyme disease. Long-term symptoms include arthritis, joint pain, heart problems and autoimmunity.

The Lyme disease microorganism creates a neurotoxin that is very similar to that of Anthrax and Tetanus. They split amino acids in nerve cells disrupting their function by partially blocking the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Low acetylcholine levels are linked to Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, autism, high blood sugar, chronic stress and insulin resistance. If there was a full blockage, paralysis would occur. The organism that causes Lyme disease has been found in the brains of patients with Alzheimer’s disease and those with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

The cause of Lyme disease was discovered, but treatment was very difficult. Like syphilis and a few other hard to treat conditions, Lyme disease has the ability to “hide” and gain protection from the immune system. It actually takes part of your DNA inside of it, presumably to give itself protection against your immune system. Needless to say, normal antibiotic regimens have not been wholly effective in treating Lyme disease.

An effective treatment of Lyme disease would be one that would block access to our nerve cells. The organism that causes Lyme disease is sensitive to certain inhibitors found in some medications, which relax blood vessel walls by blocking out certain enzymes, but they have not been tested in the treatment of Lyme disease. The enzymes are also blocked by glycyrrhizic acid, found in licorice root.

Low acetylcholine levels can be treated with vitamins and supplements; namely, vitamin B1, B5, B6, Lysine, Lecithin, S-Adenosylmethionine, and vitamin C . When these vitamins are taken or eaten, they begin a chain reaction of biochemical events that lead to the production of the acetyl group necessary for acetylcholine release. Without enough vitamin C, the body cannot synthesize the necessary components and symptoms will continue to worsen.

In any case of Lyme disease, it is now believed that more than just antibiotics are needed to effectively treat it. Different antibiotics are needed to treat the bacteria in its different stages of development. Your body is left to deal with a build-up of toxins and free radicals that can only be cleared by powerful antioxidants, such as vitamin C. Additionally, the low acetylcholine levels need to be treated to help avoid the direr, long term effects of Lyme disease.

Talk with your doctor about treating Lyme disease with vitamins and supplements. When you buy supplements, make sure that your doctor and pharmacist know all medications that you are taking to avoid interactions.

Symptoms Of MS : DEMENTIAS: ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE; MEMORY, DIET, EXERCISE.(Based on author’s site www.geocities.com/alzdem)

Alzheimer’s disease is often confused with dementia ~almost identical in effect each are caused differently -symptoms of each differ (yet are misleadingly same or similar to those of other health problems)…

This seeks to explain the difference between Alzheimer’s disease and dementia for coping with both better ~with often omitted academic but useful knowledge in layman’s terms on Alzheimer’s disease and dementia -also some helpful diet and memory stimulating reality-orientation suggestions from various sources on the subject, including exercise for the main side effects of both Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.Dementias differing on the onset and in progression, not in effect, the essential professional medical consultation involves the elimination of all other possible causes ~because the same effects are caused by and can be due to many other health problems -such as: controllable chemical deficiency e.g. Parkinson’s disease; usually treatable severe depression; sometimes curable brain-tumours, strokes or head injuries; completely curable thyroid gland or vitamin deficiency, most infections of the body e.g. kidney infection or pneumonia (and indeed in the older person the effects of sleeping-pills or drugs taken in combination, distressing change or loss in relationships, even changes in usual habits or environment)…

‘Dementia’ means in Latin ‘out of the mind’ and was used to be the name given to any and every thing which involved deteriorated mental functions of which the cause of was not know ~indeed the name for schizophrenia (known popularly as ’split personality’) of which the sufferers were noticed to be mostly not the elderly at one time was ‘dementia praecox’ the latter word meaning early or youthful -as in time in many kinds dementia differences came to be noticed as having also to do with or affecting also the biochemical functioning of the nervous system and sometimes the structure of the brain the word ‘dementia’ has come to refer only to such cases of mainly mental failures where previously the brain was well-formed and faculties were well-functioning (as distinct from by birth, due mostly to oxygen deficiency at the time of birth caused, intellectual inability called ‘amentia’).

Dementia is, nowadays, the name used for the condition that results to such an exceptional extent in the hardening and thickening and the loss of the elasticity of the blood vessels resulting in inadequate oxygen supply in the blood sometimes also to the brain by the arteries by old age (as a result of cholesterol and saturated fats deposited in them due to neglect in diet and cleansing by proper inhalation and exhalation and exercise) as to, as in the case of only some 10% of those above 70-80 years of age, so abnormally cause cell-death in parts of the brain as results to such an extent of the nervous system’s loss of control of one’s functions, more so mental, that necessitates medical treatment and aiding by reality-orientation including as to time and space and other persons as well as oneself -mostly manifesting as loss of (first short-term) memory and concentration.Multi Infarct Dementia, also called ’senile dementia’ or ‘arterio-sclerotic dementia’ or ‘vascular dementia’, is what is coming increasingly to be meant by the term ‘dementia’ ~among persons mostly over the age of 75 and exceptionally with such extreme and widespread loss of nerve cells and brain-tissue loss it occurs that it causes deterioration in mental functions affecting mostly memory but sometimes also e.g. judgement and language -it arises from a vascular condition (abnormally high blood pressure ['hypertension'] or some other condition relating to blood vessels ~multiple-sclerosis or e.g. Parkinson’s disease or Huntington’s chorea may also lead to it) which may be sudden at the onset and with mini strokes destroys small portions of the brain, although for periods of time it may not get worse and even may misleadingly appear to improve; but, as the second most common type of dementia, if the condition is treated it can slow down, even be prevented. Alzheimer’s Disease (the name refers to its discoverer) is a dementia also called ‘Alzheimer’s sclerosis’ (meaning hardening of biological tissue -mostly arteries and nerves) discovered to involve the tangling of tiny threads (‘neurofibril’ -where molecules of protein ‘tau’ if incorrectly processed clump together) that run through nerve fibres serving as neural conductors with abnormal concentrations accumulated in them of aluminium, deficiency at neurotransmitter level of an important chemical compound (‘acetylcholine’) which certain nerve endings release to help transmit electrical impulses, and deteriorated neural matter (‘neurotic plaques’) around deposits of a kind of protein (‘amyloidB’) ~atrophy of the brain, the shrinkage, being coupled and probably caused by the hardening of the cover of it as a result, at ages often 40-60 (for which reason it was also called ‘pre-senile dementia’ or ‘pre-senile sclerosis’ ~’senile’ pertaining to old age when dementia exceptionally occurs), of loss of brain tissue (which unlike the fallacy has nothing to do with under or over use of the brain) -’Pick’s disease’ being the form of it (otherwise known as ‘Pick’s convolutional atrophy’ where the shrinkage is of the cortex of the brain, in these cases also sometimes with hallucinatory effects and in women sometimes some emotional instability [although science is uncertain if atrophy is not cause but effect]).

This type is some 50% of dementia suffered ~on the outset it is gradual and irreversible brain-cell loss, slow but regular with increasing irritability-anxiety-anger-depression, and in advanced stages unresponsiveness and loss of control of bodily functions as well as immobility leading typically between 5-10 years sometimes 2-20 years later to death -but science is discovering that only in 10% of the cases it is happening before the age 60 where some inherent genetic mutation may be involved (in chromosomes 1 and 14 mostly, and also chromosome 21 [this only to the extent that it causes increased production or depositing of 'amyloidB' forming the core of 'neurotic plaques']) and even then not always on the early onset (as in the case of a defective chromosome 19 [responsible for 'apoliproteinE' used in cholesterol transport]) and 90% of this is after 65 years of age (and that sometimes a drug ['tacrine'] has slowed progression).Coping with any dementia, including multi infarct dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease, without professional medical consultation is not possible and should never be attempted (because dementias differently develop among sufferers) -nor should any drugs be used without professional medical advice (because even ‘tacrine’ is not in all cases effective, and in some sufferers become toxic to the liver) ~the following are generally agreed by to be helpful in coping with Alzheimer’s Disease…Senses of touch-hearing-sight of the Alzheimer’s Disease sufferers deteriorate (sensory impulses are transmitted by nerve tissue [optic thalamus] to sensory areas on sides of the brain); better lighting, definite touches, clearer speech, help much in caring in Alzheimer’s Disease…Perception decrease is common in Alzheimer’s Disease (the frontal lobe of the brain controls perception) ~avoid reflective surfaces, shadows (draw curtains at night), confusion (use 24 hour clocks -or marked ‘am/pm’) for the sufferers of Alzheimer’s Disease…Behavior may change in Alzheimer’s Disease (the above may cause dissociative reaction) with wandering at night ~keep busy during day to reasonably tire by night -have a name bracelet and a name and address card in a pocket…Memory is most affected in Alzheimer’s Disease ~first short term memory (‘the law of recency’ [last learned best remembered] ceases to apply), then long term -but it helps to know and bear in mind that the ability to learn/re-learn continues and reality orientation (a therapy to keep in touch with time-space-people) is simply to often ask and get to say what is doing, how, why, where, what next (‘the law of exercise’ -repetition aids memory), and to do so nicely (‘the law of effect’ -stimuli response connection is stronger when consequences are pleasant), and family albums and photographs help greatly in Alzheimer’s Disease .Exercise by swimming, gardening, dancing, walking/strolling (physical functions controlled by the brain [e.g. complex voluntary movements by the frontal lobe] become affected) -and the bladder can be trained. Exercise helps in Alzheimer’s disease.Diet for Alzheimer’s Disease should include vitaminB: yeast, peas, fish (lack of it aggravates possible hallucinations), to prevent constipation and de-hydration plenty of water (less salt retains body fluids) and lettuce (a smooth roughage)~also tea and especially coffe in the case of women (more so if 80 or over) has been discovered to help (this is not so for men because of different male and female metabolisms) -caffeine may affect blood-pressure and moderation is suggessted.

Few psychologist considered dementias mental conflicts -now medicine on evidence of biochemical changes consider them an organic syndrome, including Alzheimer’s disease.

One must, in case of concern, consult medically. The author has a website at: http://www.geocities.com/eoa_uk

Symptoms Of MS : Balo’s disease is a rare progressive form of multiple sclerosis with a strong viral association that primarily affects young adults. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an instigative disease of the Central Nervous System (CNS). Predominantly, it is a disease of the “white matter” tissue. The white matter is made up of nerve fibres which are responsible for transmitting communication signals both internally within the CNS and between the CNS and the nerves supplying rest of the body. In people affected by MS, patches of damage called plaques or lesions appear in seemingly random areas of the CNS white matter.

Balo Disease is different in that it tends to be evenly progressive. Symptoms may include headache, seizures, gradual paralysis, involuntary muscle spasms, and cognitive loss. The symptoms of Balo Disease vary, according to the areas of the brain that are affected. Symptoms may progress rapidly over several weeks or more slowly over two to three years. Symptoms may progress over a period ranging from several weeks to 2-3 years. Often, disability and death occur within months although recently there have been reports of a self-limiting form of Balo’s disease with some remission.

Balo’s disease is most common in Chinese and Philippino populations. Baló-like lesions may either dissolve over time or transform into an MS-like lesion. Balo disease are often controlled with corticosteroids. In cases where a viral trigger is suspected, antiviral medications are often used. Intravenous immunoglobulin therapy has also shown benefits.Immunoglobulins are proteins manufactured in the body that the immune system uses to produce antibodies and various factors, which are used to communicate with immune system cells and modify the immune reaction.

There are 4 immunoglobulin subtypes, immunoglobulin M (IgM), immunoglobulin A (IgA), immunoglobulin G (IgG or gamma globulin) and immunoglobulin E (IgE). Mitoxantrone has shown positive effects in patients with a secondary progressive and progressive relapsing courses. It is moderately effective in reducing the progression of the disease and the frequency of relapses in patients in short-term follow-up. Glatiramer medication is an alternative to beta interferons if you have relapsing remitting MS.

Symptoms Of MS : A demyelinating disease is any circumstance that results in harm to the overprotective coating that surrounds nerves in your mind and spinal cord. This impairs the conduction of signals in the affected nerves, causing disability in superstar, campaign, cognition, or new functions depending on which nerves are involved. Multiple sclerosis is the most common demyelinating disease. In this disorder, your immune system mistakenly attacks the myelin sheath or the cells that produce and maintain the myelin sheath. A number of other types of demyelinating disorders have been associated with optic neuritis. They are: acute transverse myelitis, Guillain barre syndrome, Devic’s neuromyelitis optica, Charcot marie tooth syndrome, multifocal demyelinating neuropathy, and acute disseminated encephalomyelitis.

Demyelinating diseases causes inflammation and wound to the sheath and finally to the nerves that it surrounds. The outcome may be dual areas of scarring, which can finally decelerate or halt heart signals that curb muscle coordination, power, superstar and imagination. The majority of plaques congregate along periventricular draining veins, but plaques also commonly occur within the spinal cord, optic nerves, brain stem, and white matter of the cerebral hemispheres and cerebellum. Plaques can also occur in the connecting pathways of subcortical white matter. Demyelination in gray matter may account for a large fraction of the lesion burden. Longer standing lesions are characterized by a total loss of myelin and oligodendrocytes, an intense astrogliosis, variable degrees of axonal loss, and a scant residual infiltrate of mononuclear cells, some of which are immunoglobulin-secreting B cells.

The diagnosis is made on the ground of the clinical signs and symptoms. The diagnosis of Multiple sclerosis requires evidence of the spreading of lesions in the system over moment and the cautious expulsion of new causes. Treatment of multiple sclerosis can be discussed in terms of the management of acute relapses, the prevention of relapses as modification of the disease process, and the management of symptoms and fixed neurologic deficits. A short, tapering course of oral corticosteroids may be given afterward. Equivalent doses of oral corticosteroids may have a similar effect, but treatment with lower doses is controversial. Treatment depends on the type of demyelinating disease but may include corticosteroid medications. Although corticosteroids have a short-term beneficial effect when used for acute exacerbations, their long-term effect on the course of multiple sclerosis is less clear.
