Wow! It's been since March of 2019 that I wrote an entry in my art blog! I've been busy with my dj career for these past 2 years. I have reached a point in my music career that will send me straight back to art and painting. I usually do things that way. I'll work on each craft individually as to pay close attention to it and not have one suffer and vice versa. So soon I will be making my way back into the art world! Thinking about starting a podcast: where you will hear: my dj mixes (funk, hip/hop, oldies, old school, old school rap, sublime/reggae classic rock and jazz. Also topics regarding the new feminine era, art & music, Los Angeles art scène and how to get into it or not, nite clubs and nite clubbing, relationships and how social media affects these relationships positive or negative, new business ventures for up and coming artists and musicians and of course networking and whatever else comes to your crazy minds. Above all I will answer any questions you might have about what song was that? Or how to dj mix or how to paint using acrylics......I can’t stand stingy artists or dj’s!! So.......What do you think?! I would need help with broadcasting as it is a language I'm not too familiar with. Any takers?

My Fate

I was giving my fate some thought today. Well I'm not going to lie, it's actually a common thought these days as I approach closer to turning 40. I have contemplated many many things. One being the topic of having children. I just don't see that happening at this point in my life and only by a miracle will that probably ever happen. So.....I dedicate myself to my paintings and music. It's what I do, it's what I'm good at. I know I would've been a good mom but that's just not happening it looks like. My paintings are my children also my dj mixes are my kids too if that makes sense. They are what I have created. Music is cool because it really puts you on the plane or realm that music dwells in which is pretty close to the supreme being people call God so that's cool. I could feel that whilst making music and even long after, the presence of something much greater and powerful is inside of me now. It's a new very powerful feeling. But it must be harnessed correctly otherwise, well lets just say I could understand now why some musicians have gone off the deep end in the past and why. Well not exactly why but making music does something to a person. It gives you this magical-ness and it's really hard to put into words cause it's a feeling unlike no other. So instead of having children, I am a creator of art and music. This is what I'm giving to the world when I pass. Not kids. But Art and Music. Forever.

Yes you read right, I've been practicing deejaying for the past 12 years. Recently, my craft took a leap and bound and got me to this point. Where I'm at today with deejay mixing is simple. I love to share music and discoveries with other people who have the same taste in music as I do. Bottom line really. I'm not really trying to do anything too fancy with it. I wouldn't mind working at a chill and very dim club or bar, that would be sweet. I recently also reached out to DJ Seano of Soundwaves Radio on 90.7 kpfk fm....basically.....I'm working on a mix to send to him and then he will be airing sometime in April, so that's a big deal, right!? I have many many new feelings that are firing off by the minute lately, however, I will try to stay on subject here and now for yours and my sake, lol. Okay....so this deejay thing....I kinda had it up my sleeve for the past 12 years but yet no not really.....close friends knew that that was my hobby....but I had gave it break for like 3 years from 2014-2017 so there was that also. The early days were rough meaning painful on the ears. My ear became trained over the years and my music library grew so when I picked it back up last year I was ready with lots of music I had discovered in the past 4 years that also I just sat on for those 3 years until last year. So last year I encountered a life change and career and residential change all at once and then found myself in my own apartment by myself. I began to use my Virtual DJ program more often than not. I really had a great reason to mix because at the time I was going to many dance clubs and concerts and of course what would we listen to on the ride to out of town where these things take place, lol? Well??? LOL, no it's always been a passion of mine to play music on turntables.....I had sucked before, like really sucked...genuinely I thought I would always be average with it and not totally get it. I was going to say miraculously but no diligently I pressed on with it and picking it back up as the mature responsible woman I've become somehow managed to get good at freakin' deejaying! It's on and crackin' now.

I would like to think that the work that I'm doing today will somehow benefit and/or inspire a future generation in some type of way. The thing that sucks is that, I doubt anyone will want to pay my monthly website bill after I'm gone, so that probably won't be there after I pass. But this will since it's free and forever.Ah the beauty of the thought that this webpage will always be here, as long as google is in business...it will always remain. I don't think we as a generation are really used to that concept....because if you think about it, it's our lifetime that is the first lifetime to have the internet and it's forever type of way, so we are the first humans who have used the internet and who will pass away and the internet will go on for many more moons after. For the next generation I'm sure they will get used to the fact that almost everything they do will be forever archived and in the cloud.....for us, I guess that concept is a little different and will take some getting used to. Hey, we were 80's babies with no internet at all. So just think about that. LOL. Anyway, the idea that all of my creative efforts will be recorded in history for generations to come is actually such a comforting feeling and a feeling that whatever it is I create in my lifetime will always forever be in a cloud. Or at least a picture of the great things I have done will be. LOL.

My clubbed foot story:

I was born with bilateral clubbed feet. I am now almost 39 and am feeling the wrath of these feet really bad. My back. My back is in constant pain. My neck, literally from the base of my head (brain stem) to my toes. Oh yeah and then I get migraines and headaches so I guess that wouldn't leave my head out of the equation and feeling lonely on the pain train. No, every part of me is on the pain train and it's time to get off. But how? I just realized that the fact that I'm even upright is left completely up to my back. My back is carrying the entire load of my body because my calf muscles and the fact that I have no arch what-so-ever is the reason why none of my lower extremities have any part of the fact that I am an upright homo sapien. Otherwise, what? I would be like a cave-woman? How strange. Anyway, I'm constantly cracking, popping and cracking some more my neck, back, legs, lumbar area and sometimes the little tiny bones in my feet crack as well. But it's mostly my neck and back. There comes a time when my neck gets so sore that it won't crack for a few days, and those few days are a nightmare. It's a chronic condition that I know I must accept, but I just feel like this is no quality of life what-so-ever and I'm over it. I want my youthful life back when I did whatever I wanted to do and it felt fine. Now, even having sex is an issue because my legs are so stiff and awkward, it makes the other person feel like they're doing something wrong, but ultimately it's me and my back and leg issues and the fact that I'm even saying this is making it real and making it so much more pathetic than I ever thought of in my mind. Geez, someone help me.

It's crazy how for granted I took the art of typing, before. Before I started feeling the wrath that the desk job brings, the aches and pains and the wrath that comes with it. I also use my laptop and bedroom dj at home in probably not the right position either so I'm fucked right now guys, my back is hurting the worst and no relief in site. I always heard old people complain about their backs. My back this and my back that. Well, fuuuuuck.....now I know what the fuck they were talking about, because it's no joke, for real. So with that said, I'd like to talk about the recent drawings and paintings I've done.

This one is a clear example of...you're only as good as your art supplies are. Liquitex pouring medium (it looks like cum) is a miracle invention that makes the painting look so pretty like this. I would like to expand my pouring technique a bit but I kinda refuse to turn to youtube for help, so staying true to the naturalness of an artist's trial and error, this is how it's going to look until I choose to do so.

Again, you're only as good as your art supplies are. This drawing was done with Copic Pens, small brush tip, medium brush tip and the pens 0.8 and 0.5 to create this nice look.

I love this drawing because it is so different yet still tries to send a message with words wrapped close to the abstract lines I've incorporated into it.

This painting got a make over and a well-deserved one I must say. Heart on his Sleeve is the title and I love it, one of my favorite paintings.

This dude is a new dude (character) and I added a cursive word on the side titled everlasting. It suits it for some reason. That reason, as an artist I'll never figure out because things like that flow so naturally, it's not up to me to figure out, of course that is your job.

Years Later.....

So it's probably been about a good 3 years since my last post. I'm not going to say too much other than I'm creating again. I'm overjoyed by this. I'm painting and dj mixing again. Much better though. Well, I can't exactly say that bold statement. I'm an evolved painter and dj mixer, let's put it that way. It's so true when they say if you don't use it you lose it. When I first got back into everything I was a little rusty but the artwork came back super strong and new and improved. The dj mixing took a while to get better at. However, now it's on and crackin with my dj mixing. I just made the best mix I've ever made in my life. Very little mistakes, all done live dj mixing on virtual dj with 2 decks and my music library, no fancy help from fancy dj software, just me and those 2 decks raw and uncut. I am officially a woman, on my own, full-time job. Painting on the side, dj mixing nightly. No family obligations, no boyfriend, just me and my creative outlets and flourishing on a daily basis. I'm happy to be back and to share my new works with the world. Love you.

Primal Astrology, my own family story.

As an avid astrology expert when I discovered the website of Primal Astrology I became fascinated at what it entails. Primal Astrology combines your western astrology sign with your eastern astrology sign and the result is your animal spirit. For example I'm a handfish because I'm an Aquarius/Sheep. What my project is for this blog entry is discussing all of my families animal spirits and how we all interact with each other based upon the traits that accompany our particular animal spirits.

I'll start with my dad, his animal spirit is an eagle. Majestic, clever, commanding and untamed my dad is a very smart man with a very short temper. However, he's always provided for us and has always provided a nest that all of his family is always welcome to. Also, whenever and wherever I've been that I needed to be rescued from my dad has always been there to scoop me up and take me to his safe an humble home.

My mom is a beautiful crane. Unlike my dad who gets a lot of flying done, she likes the comfort of the ground and shallow waters.

My sister is the sneaky squirrel. It's funny because my sister when she was in elementary school used to hide her lunches under her bed being a very picky eater. She reminds me of the Geico commerical where the squirrels make the car get into a car accident then they hi-five each other afterward. My sister likes to drink also so there's that drunken squirrel thing she's got going on as well.

My brother is a toucan. A beautiful exotic bird with huge sense of humor. Much like my dad my brother can fly high and hang out in trees, where who else would they find in that tree? No other than my sister the squirrel which makes the trio of my dad, brother and sister being the closest to each other in my family.

My father and mother divorced after 35 years of marriage. My dad re-married and his new wife is a swan. I guess birds attract other birds. Speaking of that, my brother married a dove, so that theory is definitely in place there also.

Which brings me back to me being a handfish, very different from any other creature in my family. Ironically I am the black sheep of my family and my animal spirit shows that. The only person I am close with is my mom who can interact with me being a half land animal and half water animal. All of the others don't do water.

So far this year I've had one art show, Heart of Art Gallery 1907 Rodeo Rd, Los Angeles near USC. February 7th 2015. It was a good turn out and I showed 3 pieces. San Pedro Pirate, Wondering Woman and Head in the Clouds. Later in the month of February I'll have another show, The Chocolate and Art Show on Feb. 27 - 28. Producing art has slowed down a lot, during the years of 2012, 2013 and for the first half of 2014 I painted and did artwork every single day all day and night, I think now I've taken a well deserved break from it.

Not only a painting artist...

About 10 minutes ago while driving home of course, I had a sudden urge to blog. The topic today being about not only possessing talent in painting but also what it means to be an artist in today's society. I think the label of being an artist has muliple meanings. On the one hand sure I love to paint and draw and create beautiful pieces of artwork. Artwork that I hope sells, but not only that, touches hearts. What it means to me to be an artist is much more than painting. It means to be on a journey much like any other human being is on their journey. Along the way however there are little things that we come across that makes us feel certain things. For example, seeing a bum on the street that I know is really in need is something that hurts my heart and I wish their lives could be different and their circumstances which brought them to that point, I'll never know. I just see them on the street begging for money and in that way I see them as angels along my journey. I say a prayer for them and I go about my business. Also, I remember what it was like being a young teenager. Having crushes on certain celebrities or musicians. Having a Motley Crue tape in my walkman. Hearing The Doors album for the first time impacted me for the rest of my life. All things that are apart of this important journey I call life. It's sort of how I embrace being alive and being able to be an artist and paint what I feel moves me. See art shouldn't just be a decoration on someone's wall. I believe it's meant to jerk the soul and make one think. That's my intention, and that's what the meaning of being an artist is to me. Thank you.

It's been awhile since my last post. I apologize. Been recovering myself from the pits of being a drug addict and am proud to say I have 60 days (2 months) clean. Life has slowed down tremendously and a lot of change has occurred due to this huge choice I decided to make a couple of months ago. I had an art fan/teacher comment on the differences he saw in my work recently as opposed to the work I was doing while still in my addiction and his thoughts really amazed me so I thought I'd share that with you here:

..."Whoa!! It's almost night and day. One thing I'm noticing is that before you seemed completely caught up in the abstract features and wrinkles that distort and characterize a face. Now, you've really seemed to pull away from that. It's almost like before, you really wanted to showcase the ugly side of a person (I use ugly as less of a description of them or your work, and more as a sense of what you were trying to pull out of them.) But now, you seem more at peace and whimsical. Almost a childlike innocence or something. And it appears as though your branching out from just faces and trying other things. As though you're not only focused on the person, but in the here and now. Being at peace with the present and the surroundings. Content is a word I would use..."

Almost finished with this painting which is 40x30 in size. Interesting thing happened with this one and it's like I had to save it. I probably did a couple paintings on here (as I recall) then decided to throw some latex primer on it thinking it would give me a clean slate. Well, the primer was not for canvas paintings obviously it made it real shiny and streaky and so it was difficult trying to apply any more paint on top really. I ended up with the background mostly black and added a gray faced lady with white hair and big shapes on each side of her, with the exception of the drips on the upper left hand corner. The shock blue light montana marker saved the day though really id have to say.

As an artist I experience a lot of phases throughout the year. Not only with my art but in life as well. I've learned along the way that a social media shutoff is necessary every once in awhile. At least for me and how my artist's brain works. Can't speak for any other artists. Facebook is the main tool I use to market the work that I create everyday. At times I can be somewhat of a pre-mature poster but nobody needs to know stuff like that. Of course you must take into consideration the way the news feed on facebook spits out shit, it's not something that I can observe on my own because I'm posting the stuff and don't know how the rest of the world sees my stuff....really. That may sound dumb so any suggestions for that issue are appreciated. Next thing about facebook is the time spent on there as opposed to getting paintings done without distraction keeping me away. That becomes something I wonder about right before I fall asleep, like I wonder if I hadn't spent so much time on facebook/instagram/youtube/vimeo/porn-sites (j/k) well maybe that painting wouldn't have turned out so like not how I intended it to. It's too much. People comment on most paintings so I can't be rude to the people of the world who wish to comment on my work. I usually address every single comment I receive in regards to my art and this gets tiring. So I've vowed to stay off of facebook for the next two weeks. Let's see how it goes. I can see myself getting back on in a few days. This is my own artist experiment. Don't try this at home or wherever you get your paint on.

Not to mention the other sites that help me get my work out there like redbubble, fineartamerica and all the other platforms I choose to use to try to slang my work. It's too too much. I'm sure for somebody with a normal thinking brain the solution for all of these woes would be to make yourself a schedule and stick to it. Well, sorry...not doing it. Tried. Failed. Not how my brain works. Thank you for reading.

The Paintings Usually Change

Today's blog is about the metamorphosis that my audience will typically see a painting go through during it's making process. Reason for that is for me to see if it's even worthy of continuing forward with based upon the attention that it gets on the various social media sites like instagram and facebook. If the post received a total of 10 or more likes I can usually guess it's a hit and doesn't need much more done to it. Depending on factors like if it's the end of the night and I barely start a new painting but get most of it complete, I probably will want to throw it on facebook to see how many likes it collects and then go from there. So anyway I'm sure a lot of you out there find yourself wondering why my paintings will look one way one day and completely another the next. I hope that helped you get over your wonderment. Other reasons could still be the issue in this mess but like I always say, "it's part of the process..." Thanks for reading.

Artist Statement Mid Year 2014

I taught myself everything to know about astrology and although the feedback from most people I’ve talked to about it is like, “Oh that doesn’t apply to me”, I choose to know my birth chart and all of it’s information and also following a day to day forecast is essential for me in my life. It’s not for everybody but everything that astrology.com has ever spit out for me has always been to the tee and knowing that the calculations behind the interpretations are of a mathematical/scientific nature, it just makes sense. Having a vast variety of interests all my life from the universe and how laws of nature govern our physical realm and that after the 3rd dimension there are 3 more higher dimensions known as the spiritual or astral realms directly above us. All that stuff has to be what hit me in the face after high school. I wasn’t a person who always did drawings from the time I could hold a pencil. I actually wasn’t that great of a student during my school years and doing art wasn’t something I thought about doing until my early 20’s. Prior to that I had been on a quest for learning about any and all subjects pertaining to the spiritual and/or earth changes our world is currently going through. The fact that I feel closely connected to all that is happening as a whole to the earth is a trip. It’s how I came up with my art name Synchronic because of the harmonic synchronic order of things in nature and our universe. I’m a real brainiac when it comes to certain subjects. Everything else kinda gets ignored which I know now I need to work on becoming more of a well rounded kind of artist.

I had several things I wanted to do as a profession growing up and out of high school and accounting was one of them. However I I refused to become a robot, this was the feeling I had right before I quit my accounting job after 5 years of hard work I just quit. For the next two years it was a party. I partied hard. I had a real rebellious streak for the next few years but during that time a lot of cool things happened in my experiences. Having a sentimental nature I took some of those experiences as if they were messages from the cosmos. In the end those messages are what directed me to where I needed to be with an artistic life as my main focus of what I needed to become skilled for. After that came work mode. I call it work mode because although I spent previous years partying the years that would follow would see a whole different Adrianne. These years (2010 - present) were dedicated to becoming skilled at dj mixing and visual art.

The art world for me has flung doors open that I never even knew existed. It’s been a wild ride so far with a few accomplishments under my belt. It feels good. I never did anything like this and it feels good.

Yes I must blog about the best acrylic paint known to man! NOVA PAINT is located in Culver City, CA. Just a little hole in the wall kinda place in an alley in the arts district of Culver City. I always say that the most authentic and magical things can come out of a place like that. Nova Color is a small factory store; there are no frills or extras. They carry acrylic paint (produced on-site), gel mediums, little jars for paint, and maybe a few brushes; all merchandise is displayed on industrial shelving in a room about the size of an office lunchroom.

The paint itself is amazing. The viscosity is unparalleled, though I've known one or two fellow painters complain about its lack of body. Whatever paint consistency is preferred, there is no denying the brilliant color. Nova paint is incredibly saturated with fine pigment, and there are many traditional and fun colors that would tickle almost anybody's fancy (including neon, blacklight, pearl, and metallic paint.) The paint is also reasonably priced. A four once jar of Cadmium yellow is only $4.75.
