A modern horoscope for Iran is based on the Iranian Revolution, which began in 1978. It was driven by discontent with the monarchy’s corruption and Western influence. Massive protests forced Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi to flee the country in January 1979. Ayatollah Khomeini returned from exile in Paris in February. The Islamic Republic was proclaimed on April 1, 1979, at 15:00, after a referendum.

Prediction

A SAMVA list post on May 17, 2025, at 9:36 a.m., based on Iran’s 24° Cancer rising horoscope, predicted:

"[On June 17, 2025, the Jupiter/Rahu] period begins with tr Rahu in applying conjunction with natal Rahu at 23° 40' [Aquarius] and 8H MEP (with 5° orb). THERE WILL LIKELY BE A NEGATIVE SHIFT IN IRANS AFFAIRS AT THAT TIME. However, the peak of tension is seen in early September 2025. With Rahu in 8H MEP, the government of Iran tends to manipulate life and death issues. SOME OUTSIDE INVOLVEMENT IN ITS AFFAIRS IS LIKELY..."

This was prescient: on June 13, 2025, Israel’s “Operation Rising Lion” struck Iranian nuclear and military sites, killing over 78. Iran retaliated with missile strikes on June 19, followed by U.S. precision strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities on June 21. Iran attacked a U.S. base in Qatar on June 23, with limited damage and a ceasefire was established on June 24.

Epilogue

Iran now faces a severe water crisis, economic turmoil, and political unrest, exacerbated by corruption, mismanagement, and recent military conflicts with Israel and the U.S., threatening national stability. Challenging astrological transits in late August/early September 2025, as predicted, suggest a worsening outlook for the Islamic Republic’s stability.

The "foreign entanglements" element was realised at 3:30 GMT on June 12, 2025, when Israel, a key U.S. ally, launched a war against Iran to safeguard its survival. Trump has strongly supported Israel. He reinforced their shared stance that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons. This position stems from the Ayatollahs’ repeated threats to destroy Israel and their hostility toward the USA, coupled with Iran’s history of killing hundreds of Israelis and Americans, including through proxies like Hezbollah and Hamas, in recent decades.

The "leading to war" part was realised at 2:30 a.m. GMT on June 22, 2025, when the US military struck three nuclear facilities in Iran, after President Trump demanded an "unconditional surrender" and that Iran agree to end its nuclear weapons program. Iran refused the US demands, provoking the action.

Note how his young cabinet members stand squarely behind President Trump in this photo. He was criticised for selecting them, due to their perceived lack of experience. However, this disregards the fact that he had more than enough experienced cabinet members in his first term. When it mattered, they opposed his agenda and he fired them, causing acrimony. He has therefore tried to select a cabinet that is not only loyal to him and his agenda but one that abides by his decisions without public protest.

This is quite fitting for the sub-period of 6th lord Jupiter, which is in the 5th house aspecting 1st lord Moon in the 11th house. This combination of the lords of conflict and self, can give Americans an adamant attitude when their morals or ideals are offended, it has even been expressed as a 'war-like' tendency, such that the country "rarely backs down from provocations." Today, this tendency was witnessed, and it is in line with the nature of the American Republic as seen with the SAMVA USA (Perpetual Union) horoscope.

The Moon major period of the SAMVA USA chart has been operating since April 2022, bringing with it a multitude of progressive developments, including the reversal of Roe vs Wade, empowering each state to set standards for abortion, the advent of AI for the masses, the purchase of Twitter and its rebranding as X, followed by an end to censorship in most social media, mostly aimed at suppressing the free speech of conservative voices. Note the time of attack, transit 1st lord Moon was conjunct transit 4th lord Venus in the 10th house most effective point (MEP). This would likely give satisfaction to the majority of the American public. Moreover, transit 10th lord Mars in 2nd house was in close aspect to transit 8th lord Saturn in the 9th house, indicative of the ample military capability for this mission.

Another transit at this time, and one that will reoccur during the year, is transit 8th lord Saturn in the 9th house under aspect from 6th lord Jupiter in the 5th house. This is known as a violence inducing aspect in a Cancer rising horoscope. However, the 9th house is a rather favourable house, indicating support or luck associated with foreign countries.

However, it is in the late summer or early fall of 2025, that transit Rahu will become stationary at 24° in the 8th house, from where it will enter into a mutual aspect with transit 6th lord Jupiter at 24° Gemini and 12th house. Jupiter will then also aspect natal 4th lord Venus in the 6th house, along with transit Ketu in the 2nd house. Even if Jupiter will be moving with normal speed in transit, Rahu and Ketu will be stationary in transit. 1. USA enters another foreign war with Iran proxy and threatens Iran

Prediction:

"As the year opens, transit Rahu is in a mutual aspect with natal 6th lord Jupiter in Scorpio and the 5th house. This combination could increase the risk of the USA ENTERING A FOREIGN WAR due to manipulations in foreign relations." [1]

What Happened:

On March 15, 2025, President Trump announced via a social media post on Truth Social that he had directed the U.S. military to launch 'decisive and powerful military action' against the Iran-backed Houthi rebels," targeting Yemen’s Houthi-held areas after Red Sea shipping attacks. On March 30, he warned Iran of bombing if they didn’t negotiate over nuclear plans. Strikes continued into April.

Astrology Insight:

On April 2, 10th lord Mars, ruling foreign trade, was debilitated and infant in Cancer where it was afflicted by natal 6th lord Jupiter and transit stationary Rahu. Astrology Insight:
Up to six planets clustered in Pisces in Trump’s 8th house as March ended and April began, echoing a similar 2021 pile-up in his 6th house during the Capitol riot and impeachment. This 8th house focus signals obstacles and endings, mirroring his current resistance.

Epilogue

As spring 2025 unfolded, the stars’ warnings rang true for the USA and President Trump. From war drums in Yemen to tariff tremors shaking global markets, the astrological predictions of conflict and disruption held firm. Pete Hegseth is an American television presenter, author, and former Army National Guard officer. President-elect Donald Trump nominated Hegseth to serve as United States Secretary of Defense in his second cabinet.

Today, his confirmation hearings were held in the US Senate. Pete Hegseth has warlike Scorpio rising with the Sun as the 10th lord in the Most Effective Point (MEP) of his 7th house, giving him authority. Moreover, with warlike 6th lord Mars in the MEP of his 10th house, he has a fighting spirit, especially in his career. During his opening remarks, Hegseth said that as Defense Secretary, he would bring back the "Warrior ethos" and support the "lethality" of the military and specifically the "warfighters." [1,2] This aroused great consternation among Democrat legislators, who uniformly pegged him as unqualified for the post. Hegseth, however, did not allow that to ruffle his feathers too much, with Republican Senators praising his performance. His confirmation is now considered likelier than before.

AMERICA'S SOCIAL EVOLUTION

In a path-breaking work, "Human Society, Vol. 2" (1959), P. R. Sarkar presented the Law of the Social Cycle, where he explained that nations move through ages, rising and falling in terms of ruling elites. Each elite is based on one of four traits rooted in human psychology, physical endowment, and social motivation. These are the Vipra (intellectual), Kshatriya (warrior), Vaishya (acquisitor), and Shudra (laborer). In his work "The Downfall of Capitalism and Communism: A New Study of History" (1978), Ravi Batra explained how Western Civilization, including the USA, has evolved according to this theory. Batra accurately predicted the downfall of Soviet Communism, which took place a bit sooner than he thought, while his call for the demise of capitalism and the emergence of a new Golden Age under the auspices of warriors has been slower in coming. Here is a brief overview:

THE INTELLECTUAL ERA

The New England colonies, particularly Massachusetts Bay and New Haven, were often described as theocracies in the 17th century. While clergy didn't directly run the political systems, the political and religious systems were closely intertwined. Leaders aimed to create a society based on Calvinist theology, where the Bible was the fundamental law. From the 1730s through the 1760s, influential preachers led to increased evangelical fervor and the formation of new denominations, such as Baptists and Methodists. However, this age was relatively short-lived, as a new class of acquisitors, the capitalists, soon took control of US society.

THE ERA OF CAPITALISM

The nascent shift towards a market-oriented economy took place with the emergence of small industries in the late 17th century. Slowly but surely, a capitalist class began to emerge in American colonial society during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. This period saw the rise of merchants, traders, and small-scale manufacturers who started to gain economic power, leading to political power. By the mid-18th century, this capitalist class had long eclipsed the theocratic leaders, notably in commercially active regions like the Middle Colonies and parts of New England. The growing influence of this class was further solidified by the economic changes brought about by the Industrial Revolution and the American Revolution. The capitalists in the USA became preeminent during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. A new age of industrial capitalism arose, marked by the growth of factories, the expansion of markets, and the development of new financial institutions.

However, with the rise of monopolies, inequality also became a recurring theme in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. As a result, the U.S. experienced significant financial upheavals. Industrial giants like Standard Oil and U.S. Steel dominated their respective markets, leading to public outcry. This period has been referred to as the Gilded Age and the period of Robber Barons.

The Progressive Era (1890s-1920s) saw political efforts to curb these monopolies through antitrust laws and regulations. President Theodore Roosevelt, known for his "trust-busting" activities, played a crucial role in breaking up large monopolies and promoting fair competition. After World War I, the economic landscape shifted again. The brief economic boom was followed by the Great Depression, which led to further consolidation of industries.

By the late 20th century, many industries had evolved into oligopolies, where a few large firms controlled significant market shares. The concentration of economic power in these oligopolies contributed to growing inequality and recurring financial crises. The 2008 financial crisis, triggered by the collapse of the housing bubble and risky financial practices, led to a severe global recession. The aftermath saw the emergence of the Tea Party movement in 2009 and the Occupy Wall Street movement in 2010, protesting against economic inequality and corporate greed. Donald Trump's election in 2016 and re-election in 2024 can be seen as a response to these economic and social upheavals. His efforts to revitalize American manufacturing with higher-paying jobs and draining the swamp of establishment politicians who had collaborated with the exploitative oligopolies resonated with many disillusioned Americans. Not surprisingly, some view Trump as a reformer in the spirit of Theodore Roosevelt, aiming to challenge entrenched interests and bring about significant change. Interestingly, the first Progressive Era took place during the Sun (1896-1902) and Moon (1902-1912) periods.

DAWNING OF THE WARRIOR AGE

At a deeper level, the reformer Donald Trump may be unleashing greater changes to the USA than even he imagines. As Pete Hegseth's testimony reveals, there is a cultural shift taking place in the USA. It now appears to be inexorably headed for the rule of the warriors. An early sign of this is the growing chaos from capitalist exploitation as seen between 2009 and 2016, which the warriors excel at ending and restoring order. Another sign of this is the growing respect for military people, seen in terms of people now regularly thanking veterans for their service to defend the homeland and thereby protect the freedoms Americans enjoy. The brave warriors, unlike the intelligent intellectuals or the clever acquisitors, are known for their mastery of the physical domain. Warriors like to rule through their sheer strength and daring.

PREDICTION IN 2010

In the March 2010 article "Rise of U.S. Imperial Power," I noted the possible evolution of US society from an acquisitive to a warrior ethos during the Sun and Moon periods in the SAMVA USA chart.

"Parallels to our own time

As in the latter decades of the 19th century, the US has been suffering from significant social and economic problems during the recent periods of Ketu (1989-1996) and Venus (1996-2016). A predicted U.S. resurgence will likely take place in the coming Sun major period (2016-2022). This could involve a re-exertion of U.S. military power in the world or a significant push to expand the frontier of space.

He also suggests a historic shift in societal values from acquisitive to warrior like. In this regard we can think about the booming genre of action movies with super charged heroes and the growing respect for people in uniform. Should they be considered a harbinger of such a social transformation? If history is anything to go by, Batra may well prove right, although the extent or timing of such socio-political changes is uncertain."

In the December 2018 article "Horoscope of Donald Trump," comparisons were drawn to the historic figure of Julius Ceasar, who ended the rule of wealthy landowners in the Roman Republic, with his stepson, Octavian, cementing the new order that became the Roman Empire.

"POSTSCRIPT

Trump may be viewed with the lens of history - as presented in Ravi Batra's books The Downfall of Capitalism and Communism: A New Study of History (MacMillan, 1978) and The New Golden Age: The Coming Revolution against Political Corruption and Economic Chaos (St. Martins Press, 2007). Most people today admire Julius Caesar (100-44 BCE), who began the transformation of the Roman Republic into Roman Empire more than two millennia ago. During his time, Caesar got involved in a no holds barred battle with the "establishment" of land- and slave-owning Senators. The senatorial class had ruled Rome for centuries, but Roman society had increasingly become burdened by slave and peasant uprisings, due to the cruelty of the elite. The late Roman Republic period suffered from repeated 'Servile wars'. Caesar, who was an astute military commander, won the civil war and began to bring order to the lives of ordinary citizens. Caesar forgave those who opposed him and had survived the civil war. After Caesar declared himself dictator for life, the Senators conspired against and murdered him as he visited the Senate chambers. The murderers cited his betrayal of Republican values and traditions by becoming a "king". His adopted son, Octavian took revenge and cemented the transformation into Empire, giving birth to a line of rulers called Caesars. Importantly, Julius Caesar was far more controversial in his day than Trump is today. Caesar took steps that outraged the elite of his times by depriving them of power and becoming a ruler who made reforms favouring the ordinary citizens. Trump is now fighting to reform US politics, including reducing the access of the wealthy to legislators, that has given them unlimited profits, no matter the cost to the citizenry (Drain the Swamp). The US elite have been using their corporate media outlets, like CNN, CNBC, New York Times, Washington Post, etc., to undermine Trump's legitimacy. They find plenty to criticise in his personality, actions and expressions but try to avoid debating his policies substantively. Trump, born into the elite, like Caesar, has injected himself into the political arena while disturbing the cozy arrangement of the elite, just like Caesar did in his day. If Trump is impeached, it is unlikely his supporters will stand for it. Trump, himself, has suggested it is unlikely the Democrats will go that way, as it is likely to be met by a revolt of his supporters. While it is highly unlikely that some form of dictatorship is in the offing in the USA, it is possible that reforms that reduce the rampant political corruption await."

Conclusion

As anticipated, the Sun and Moon major periods in the SAMVA USA chart have ushered in increased dynamism, accompanied by chaos linked to the battle between the reformers and the defenders of the capitalist system. Unless another severe financial crisis and economic depression occur, the USA's evolution is expected to be gradual. Over time, this should lead to a more centralized political system, with warriors at its nucleus, democratic processes, focusing on order, welfare, exploration, and the conquest of space, a possible new Golden Age.

Shortly after the year 2025 begins, President Donald Trump will take office in the USA. Supported by an unprecedented populist movement returning him to the White House for a second non-consecutive term. President-elect Trump has outlined a challenging reform policy platform. Some of these policies go against long standing historical trends in the USA and will impact many Americans directly or financially. Despite difficult sub-periods and transits creating challenges, including for indebted low income earners, it is likely, on account of the strong and benefic Moon major period, that progress will continue on many levels in the USA during the coming year.

Key Reform Policies

Immigration Reform: On day one, the Trump administration will start deporting immigrants with criminal backgrounds who entered the country after Joe Biden opened the borders four years ago.
Trade Policies: Trump has threatened to impose tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico, and China.
Government Efficiency: Plans to improve government efficiency may involve eliminating tens or even hundreds of thousands of federal jobs.
Foreign Policy: Trump aims to quickly end the war in Ukraine and bring peace to the Middle East.

These reforms highlight the obstacles Trump may face in the new year.

Donald Trump's horoscope

Normally, we base predictions for the USA on the 20° Cancer rising SAMVA chart. However, with Trump as President, we can also look at his 6° Leo rising horoscope for clues about his political future. Let's take a look at his bad houses and what they suggest for his life in the Spring of 2025.

Non-Moolatrikona (non-MT) Signs: In Trump's horoscope, there are no MT signs in the 6th house (conflict and financial instability) or the 8th house (obstacles and endings). With the non-MT signs of Capricorn and Pisces there, respectively, there are no rulers of these houses, potentially harming other houses or planets. Moreover, there are no planets in these 'Dusthana' or bad houses. This suggests Trump has only normal karma to deal with in terms of setbacks related to their indications.

However, Trump has an MT sign, Cancer, in the 12th house (losses and marital comforts), with the 7th lord Saturn and 3rd lord Venus placed there in infancy, but favourably conjunct. Despite such challenges, his strong 5th lord Jupiter in the 2nd house of wealth and strong 2nd lord Mercury in the 11th house of income, along with 1st lord Sun and an exalted Rahu in the 10th house, while 9th lord Mars supports his 1st house, have helped him grow his wealth, family and achieve a global status.

From the above we may surmise that in the Spring of 2025, Trump will likely face another significant set of problems, especially as he is in the sub-period of a weak 3rd lord Venus until June 2027, placed in his 12th house of losses. This is further compounded by transit Venus, while strengthened by being in its exaltation sign of Pisces from January 29 to June 1, 2025, also passing through the 8th house, keeping its indications in an overall weak state. As a result, while significant problems are foreseen, they are not expected to have long term repercussions for him.

However, this is a detour Let's now look at how this stellium of planets in Pisces will play out in the SAMVA USA chart.

The SAMVA USA Chart

In early 2021, the stellium in Capricorn took place in the 7th house of the SAMVA USA chart, ruling others, agreements, and freedoms. Many Americans saw 'Jan. 6' as an attack on US governance principles. While upsetting, it did not seem to alter the political landscape fundamentally.

In the Spring of 2025, the stellium of six planets in Pisces will fall in the 9th house of the SAMVA USA chart.

What we can expect is that there will be a disturbance involving the international support for the USA, that the easy financial gains of recent years, ranging from the prices of stocks, bonds and crypto currency, may become disturbed, or that some scandal erupts.

The great power competition involving China and Russia, possibly related to the unresolved war in Ukraine, may try the patience of Donald Trump.

Let's now turn to the periods operating and transits influencing in the SAMVA USA chart in 2025 for a more detailed view.

Moon Major Period

A major planetary period represents an overarching trend in the national life, highlighting the influences of a particular planet. The Moon major period has been operating since April 2022 in the 20° Cancer rising SAMVA USA chart and will continue until 2032. During this period, significant progress is expected in the national affairs of the USA, particularly in terms of national identity and the material wellbeing of citizens.

The Moon, as the 1st lord, is placed in its exaltation sign, Taurus, and the 11th house of income, alliances, and aspirations. This placement suggests flourishing in these areas, provided that sub-period and transit influences do not overshadow it.

In April 2022, the article "New Age of Progress" predicted that we could expect "fresh and positive winds of change" in national affairs. This includes fame, technical mastery, military and exploratory success, and intelligence in national management. It also indicated an element of expansiveness, optimism, religiousness, and determination. The article noted that unethical policies favoring the wealthy few were unlikely to make headway during this time. It suggested that new leadership might invigorate the nation, with private sector figures like Elon Musk pushing ahead with exciting projects.

Since then, we've seen tremendous progress in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, self-landing rocket boosters, self-driving EVs, robots, and more, inspiring optimism in the population and investment community. We've also witnessed a political revolution against crony capitalism, where establishment politicians have long favored large companies over worker interests. During this period, their influence is expected to recede in the political arena.

There will be a strain on the good going and for the national identity in June to August when tr 8th lord Saturn becomes stationary at 7° Pisces and 9th house closely aspecting 1st lord Moon at 7° 20' Taurus in the 11th house. Given the Moon's natal strength, no setback is expected for its indications during that stressful time.

Rahu Sub-Period

The year starts with the Moon-Rahu period, which began in mid-September 2023 and ends in mid-March 2025. The sub-period highlights significant trends in national life when the planet's indications come to the fore during its brief operation.
Natal Rahu is placed in the most effective point (MEP) of the 10th house in the SAMVA USA chart, emphasizing recurring manipulations in government, legislature, and foreign trade.
For half a century, Americans have endured crony capitalism involving corrupt politicians and civil servants beholden to influential corporations. This has been detrimental to the American working class. Inequality is the great blight on an otherwise leading nation. President-elect Trump has promised to address this corruption by reforming the federal government. Like in the Sun major period, the impetus from the Moon period is to clamp down on such corruption in the national life.
During Joe Biden's presidency, the Rahu sub-period has been associated with moral and value-related problems for Americans. Transit Rahu, the indicator of deception and manipulation, moved through the Pisces and the 9th house of the SAMVA USA chart from November 29, 2023, from where it affected the 1st, 3rd, and 5th houses in the first half of 2024. While there, transit Rahu highlighted corruption in judicial affairs as the Democrats used their power to target Donald Trump with numerous court cases, termed "lawfare" of 2023-2024. The media supported this effort, but all of it failed on November 5, 2024, when Trump was re-elected. The Rahu sub-period ends in March and the transit of Rahu in the 9th house ends on June 2, 2025, all of which is expected to bring closure to these efforts.
As the year opens, transit Rahu is in a mutual aspect with natal 6th lord Jupiter in Scorpio and the 5th house (blue line in below graph). This combination could increase the risk of the USA entering a foreign war due to manipulations in foreign relations. With tr 8th lord Saturn in the MEP of the 8th house until mid February 2025, from where it aspects the 10th, 2nd and 5th houses (holding natal 6th lord Jupiter), there can be violence in the national life.
Until the end of this sub-period, transit Rahu in Pisces afflicts transit debilitated Mars in Cancer from late November 2024 to mid-May 2025. As the year begins, transit Mars will be within a 1° aspect of Rahu, exact on January 5, suggesting manipulations in government, legislature, and foreign trade. This aspect also brings out anti-social or criminal behaviour. It becomes exact again on April 10, in the Moon-Jupiter period, with transit Mars in infancy, making it powerless to protect its indications.

Jupiter Sub-Period

On March 16, 2025, the Moon-Jupiter period begins, running until July 2026. This period promises to be interesting as Jupiter, the 6th lord of conflict in the 5th house, aspects the exalted Moon, the 1st lord in the 11th house. Both planets are well-placed, with the Moon in full strength and Jupiter almost so. This aspect gives Americans a strong sense of identity and resilience in the face of challenges. It also imparts optimism and spirituality, supported by the Sun, the 2nd lord in the 7th house, aspecting the 1st house.
On March 24, 2025, transit 8th lord Saturn in early Pisces will enter the aspect of natal Jupiter at 4° 20' Scorpio and the 5th house, remaining within a 5° orb of the trinal aspect (orange line) until March 16, 2026. The aspect becomes exact when transit 8th lord Saturn is at 4° 20' Pisces three times, first on May 7th, then on September 20th, 2025 and for the third and final time on January 31st, 2026. This aspect is considered violence-inducing, especially if Saturn is also influencing Jupiter in this timeframe. This occurs on April 1, 2025, when transit 6th lord Jupiter in Taurus begins to aspect natal 8th lord Saturn in Scorpio, becoming exact on April 29, 2025.
Moreover, after being conjunct transit stationary Rahu since March 8th, transit 8th lord Saturn enters Pisces on March 30th, where the conjunction with Rahu becomes exact on April 21. This combination remains influential until mid-May, impacting working people, civil servants, the oil industry, and the economy. This corresponds with the goals of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) as described above. Those actions could potentially cause a lot of confusion and lead to a reduction in government stimulus to the economy, which would then cause a deterioration in the economy and on financial markets over the summer.

Jupiter's transit and influence

On May 15, 2025, transit 6th lord Jupiter, ruling conflict, will exit Taurus and enter Gemini, moving into the 12th house of losses, where it will stay for about a year. This placement weakens Jupiter's functional indications as the 6th lord as well as its general indications. Astrologer and author, K. Rajesh Chaudhary describes these indications thus:

"The sixth house rules public amity, relations with neighbors, general health of the public, political stability, financial solvency of the nation, management of debts, litigations, judicial functioning, communal harmony in the country and labor relations. The close natal/transit afflictions to the sixth house or its lord by the most malefic planet or slow moving planets from the malefic houses indicate fatal accidents involving large number of deaths, debts and setback from conflict."
„Jupiter is the indicator of advisors to the heads of State, ministers, preceptors, diplomats, judges, treasury, top political and administrative positions, teaching, law, financial institutions and advisory roles, astrologers, management experts, administrators, business consulting and financial services. It acts as the significator for the ninth house. When strong, it rules expansion and optimism.“
„The twelfth house rules financial losses, expenditure, mishaps, group hospitalizations, foreign debt, wars and smuggling. The close afflictions to the twelfth house or its lord by the malefic planets from the malefic houses indicate losses for the country.“

This transit of Jupiter happens regularly every twelve years or so. Here is a review of the three most recent such transits.

July 1989 to July 1990: "Operation Just Cause" was a US military intervention in Panama. It faced significant challenges, including the loss of 23 American soldiers and the controversial capture of Panamanian leader Manuel Noriega.

June 2001 to July 2002: On "September 11" there were devastating terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, that led to a prolonged conflict in Afghanistan, with significant casualties and challenges in stabilizing the region. "Operation Anaconda, was another major US military operation in Afghanistan in 2002 that faced fierce resistance from Taliban and al-Qaeda forces, resulting in higher-than-expected US casualties.

June 2013 to June 2014: "Fall of Mosul", was the rapid fall of Mosul to ISIS forces in June 2014, representing a significant setback for US efforts to stabilize Iraq, highlighting the growing strength of ISIS in the region.

During the forthcoming one-year transit of Jupiter in the 12th house, there is a risk of foreign entanglements leading to war, losses from conflict, costly fatal accidents, losses from debts, or health setbacks, including pandemics.

On May 30, 2025, transit Rahu will move into the 8th house, bringing its deceptive influence to obstacles, endings, and easy gains. At the same time, transit Ketu will move into Leo and the 2nd house of wealth and status. From August to October, Ketu will become stationary at 24° Leo and 2nd house MEP, closely aspecting 4th lord Venus in the 6th house MEP. This will occur during the Moon-Jupiter period, with transit Jupiter weak in the 12th house. This configuration is likely to cause setbacks to the country's wealth, housing prices, financial stability and communal harmony.

In late August and early September 2025, transit Jupiter will pass 24° Gemini, where it will aspect 4th lord Venus, while in a mutual aspect with transit stationary FM Rahu in the 8th house MEP. This close aspect in early September may intensify financial problems, particularly for banks regarding their extension of credit to home buyers or low-income individuals struggling with high-interest debt.

Change of signs

As three slow moving planets change signs in 2025, there will likely be a noticeable trend shift in the national affairs from the Spring of 2025. As Saturn moves into Pisces and the 9th house, while under FM influences, it will likely mean that obstacles and endings become more problematic, but focused on the progress of the nation and foreign relations. With Jupiter's move into Gemini and 12th house, the political opposition in the USA, now the Democrats, will likely be searching for their sure footing, while the USA may get involved in a war with military losses or there will be financial setbacks. Finally, as Rahu and Ketu move into the 8th and 2nd houses, the wealth and easy gains are likely to become disturbed, especially in the fall.

Conclusion

The major disturbances in the national life will happen in the Spring, and to a lesser extent in the Autumn. With 8th lord Saturn, the most malefic planet in the Cancer rising horoscope, transiting the 9th house, there are positive sides for the indications of Saturn and the 8th house, but only when it is not afflicted or afflicting in this house. When it is afflicting or being afflicted, there can be problems with obstacles, endings and easy gains. As the 9th house rules foreign relations, primarily diplomacy, and with the 6th lord Jupiter transiting the 12th house, ruling war, where Jupiter is weak and becomes afflicted a number of times, distant foreign actors or conflicts can cause losses. With also Saturn coming under the influence of Jupiter for a better part of the year, with transit Jupiter also affected in Spring, there is the risk of mass casualties, storms and other natural disasters. Finally, there may be economic and financial problems in the autumn.

Fabled Star of Bethlehem

This is the time of year to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. However, there is a long standing debate about when exactly Jesus was born. Many astrologers have written articles and even whole books dedicated to the likely birth time of Jesus. Most of them have focused on the years 4 B.C. to 8 A.D., that involve a variety of planetary combinations in order to explain the mystery.[1]

As the birth was associated with a unique star in the sky, many have focused on the conjunction of Jupiter and Venus in June 2 A.D. or later. After all these two are the brightest planets in the night sky. The Star of Bethlehem is said to have been of a special appearance. Importantly, as this conjunction takes place every year, the conjunction is sometimes placed in the sky above the horizon during the night and sometimes in the sky below the horizon during the night. The former shines brightly on the earthly denizens at night but not the latter.

Here a novel planetary configuration of 4 planets is identified that took place 50 days before the traditional Christmas Day, in the year 1 A.D. as offering a credible solution to the mystery.

Biblical accounts

However, this focus on the night sky appears to be misplaced. In the clearest biblical account of this story, we read in Matthew 2:1-2 the following

"1 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

In other words, the Magi had seen a special star as "it rose." A star rises to the East. When the Sun does so in the morning, a new day begins. "His" birth star, emerging over the horizon, would have been consistent with it being seen in the morning. After all, this star was to have special meaning: the Lord had come into the world to save mankind. In astrology and metaphysical studies, the East is the principal direction for new life, as that is where the divine energy attending the first Sun rays of the crimson dawn appear. By contrast, the setting Sun in the West, represents the end of our daily efforts and the night, when the Sun sojourns below the horizon, is symbolic of the afterlife.

Further in Matthew 2 we read:

7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. 8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”

Here we see that the child was already born, as the "star had appeared." King Herod sent them to Bethlehem, suggesting the location was already known.

Then in Matthew 2:9-12 we read:

"9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. 12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route."[1]

The Magi were traveling by day, likely in the morning, from Jerusalem south to Bethlehem, a distance of less than 9 kilometers (6 miles). The travelers likely rose at daybreak to wash, pray and dress, then eat and prepare the animals after Sun-up. As the special star "rose ahead of them," they observed it to their left. The journey could have taken 2-3 hours. As the Sun rose behind the star, by a fixed distance, it would soon disappear as the first rays of daylight appeared. However, as Magi, they calculated its rise to the Medium Coeli point, where it appeared to stop. The MC is important, representing the glory of God's creation.

In Luke we also read about the birth of Jesus.

"1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.
4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them."

There is no indication here if the birth took place during day or night time. However, in the next verse there is a clue.

"8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Here we learn that an angel of the Lord appeared to Shepherds during the night, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, which freaked the Shepherds out. So, the nighttime brought out the terrifying light.

More importantly, when the angel spoke, it was of a Savior having been born "today."

Here the reference is to a birth having already taken place, likely during the day. The young mother, Mary, would also have needed to take some rest after the birth before receiving visitors.

Star of Bethlehem

There was a conjunction of 4 planets that took place in late Libra in the Sidereal zodiac in early November 1 A.D. (Julian calendar). Mars, Mercury, Venus and Jupiter were closely conjunct. Venus and Jupiter are the brightest planets in the night sky, with Mercury and Mars adding their luminescence to the pre-dawn sky.

This combination would have had special mystical meaning to the Magi, who were equal parts astronomers and astrologers.

According to AI, "these planets could have appeared as a tight, brilliant cluster, possibly perceived as a singular bright spot" at 7:15 a.m. in the pre-dawn sky, giving rise to the fabled "Star of Bethlehem," heralding the new born King.

Morningstar

However, most indications are that these planets most likely were visible as separate lights.

That said, the configuration has other things going for it.

If the Magi were indeed astrologers, they may have seen the close conjunction of the four planets as an indication of a royal birth, in addition to their appearance as a cluster.

Mars: 27° 02' Libra

Venus: 27° 55' Libra

Jupiter: 29° 13' Libra

Mercury: 29° 46' Libra

However, of these, Venus is known as the "Morning Star".

Indeed, the main rationale for this date is that Magi's were astrologers as much as they were astronomers. As such, they would have focused on the astrology for the symbolism of a king being born.

On this date, 5 November, 1 AD, this close conjunction of 4 planets was in late Libra. Libra is the Moolatrikona sign of Venus and Venus is the planet of healing knowledge. Jesus was not only a healer via miracles but the saviour of mankind, by healing people of their sins.

Michael Gauquelin suggested rising stars (in the ascendant) or up in midheaven at birth, could determine the "profession."

Likewise, the Magi, who observed the "star" as rising, must have noted it was part of a conjunction of three other planets, giving it extra symbolic importance, such that they deduced a king had been born.

Earlier researchers have mainly focused on the astronomy of the brightness of the star in the night sky. Meanwhile, some others may have been eager to point out inconsistencies in the biblical narrative. This explanation, however, goes further in confirming the biblical account.

25 December 1 AD

The date 25 December 1 AD for the birth of Jesus Christ appears in a letter from the early 2nd century AD. The author was Hippolytus of Rome. He wrote a Commentary on Daniel, most likely between 202-211 AD.

"The article examines the term “genesis (γένεσις) of Christ” in the Canon, which Hippolytus places on April 2nd, and concludes that this refers to conception not birth, which matches up well with the date of Jesus’ birth, December 25th, as it is given in Hippolytus’ Commentary on Daniel. The article also observes that, in his Chronicon, Hippolytus believed that Jesus was born 9 months after the anniversary of the creation of the world. According to calculations made in Hippolytus’ Canon and Chronicon, the world was created on the Vernal Equinox, March 25th, which would mean Jesus would have been born 9 months later on December 25th. The article therefore concludes that Hippolytus believed Jesus was conceived on the Passover, possibly also on the Vernal Equinox, that Jesus was born on December 25th, the Winter Solstice, and that Jesus died on the Passover, Friday, March 25th 29 AD, the Vernal Equinox."[3]

Further, some have suggested it was Pope Julius I that popularised 25 December as the birth day of Christ, some 150 years after Hippolytus letter.

Finally, on this day in 1 AD, it was winter solstice. It also held into the 4th century, linked to the Sideral and Tropical zodiacs becoming identical in the 2nd century. The early Christian Church likely gave to the increasing light notion of the Winter Solstice, consistent with the letter by Hippolytus, as the Sun begins to rise in the northern sky each day until the Summer Solstice.

Astrology of the horoscope

Here is an exploratory chart for Jesus of Nazareth with 28° 08' Pisces rising. It is set for 2:55 p.m. on 5 November, 1 A.D. in Bethlehem. The sign Pisces is most associated with the mission of Christ to bring redemption and rebirth through God's eternal forgiveness and love.

Jesus also entered this world during a time of year when the feminine dimension of the divine is held to be most pronounced, from 22 October to 22. December, and where those who also align with its divinity become unstoppable in their spiritual mission.

The Sun in mid Scorpio rose behind the stellium of 4 planets, with a fixed distance of 16-17 degrees behind - but with the stellium not yet in combustion. As such, the Star of Bethlehem would have been briefly visible just before sunrise.

According to the System's Approach to Interpreting Horoscopes, the stellium is in the transformational 8th house, in the most effective point (MEP), whereby the planets aspect other houses, influencing also their indications. For Pisces, Venus becomes 8th lord of obstacles and endings but also beauty, Mars is 2nd lord of family, wealth and status, but also courage and athleticism, Jupiter is 10th lord of career but also expansiveness and kings, and Mercury is 7th lord of others, as well as communication. The combination of 2nd lord and 10th lord gives a career of the highest order, more so as all 4 planets aspect 2nd house of status. It helps that 5th lord Moon was in 10th house and MEP of the 9th house. With 12th lord Saturn in the 5th house there was loss of physical romance and children. The conjunction of 7th lord with 8th lord in 8th house deprived Jesus of a spouse. Finally, 6th lord Sun in the 9th house, would have given him firm ideas on spirituality.

Overall, this is a chart of someone who transcends the ordinary. As a naturally enlightened being, Jesus Christ found that his life included 'all.' He lived for all and the world became his family.

Most scholars hold that Jesus Christ was crucified on Friday, 3 April 33 A.D. With this ascendant, transit 8th lord Venus was exactly conjunct his Ascending degree on that day. His mortal life ended, but his consciousness expanded. Indeed, Jesus emphasised the transformative idea that this mortal life is subsumed in a larger reality, and he was willing to give his life to show it. The Moon major period had just begun, suggesting his famous sacrifice.

As such, his mission was just beginning...

Conclusion

We have now seen a new take on an age old question, arriving at the conclusion that the 'real' birth of Jesus of Nazareth, who would become the central figure in the world's biggest religion, was on 5 November 1AD.

Centuries later, leaders in the Christian church chose 25 December 1AD as the formal birth date, making it coincide with an astronomical meaning. Nevertheless, the finding suggests that the calendar we still observe today is correct in its assignment of 1 AD as coinciding with the birth of Jesus.

On Predicting a Trump Win in 2024

Predicting Presidential Election outcomes is a tricky business. It primarily involves an analysis of the natal promise of the horoscopes of the contending candidates and the planetary periods and transits in those charts at election time. However, national horoscopes may also help.

Using the Systems' Approach in 2015, Trump was predicted to win in 2016, which he did. Moreover, despite plenty of adverse astrological elements but also the wrong Libra rising chart for Biden, Trump was predicted to retain his position in 2020, which did no happen.

Here now is a review of how the accurate prediction for Donald Trump to win the 2024 election unfolded.

LONG VIEW

More than two and a half years ago, in April 2022, I wrote the article "New Age of Progress" to introduce the onset of the Moon major period in the SAMVA USA chart. In the article I correctly anticipated a change that has now come true with the election of Donald Trump:

"While the signposts for some positive shift are there. Unlike in the prior Progressive Era (especially 1902-1912), a dynamic national politician has not yet appeared. The present national leadership in the White House or Congress is generally viewed as lackluster. Possibly, new leadership is coming that invigorates the nation. Time will tell."

This prediction owes to the strong major period of the Moon succeeding the other strong major period of the Sun.

To explain this point further, let me add that on December 30, 2019, the following prediction was made for the USA.

"In 2022, the Moon period will run for ten years, heralding continued improvement for the USA, with a focus on the realisation of the ideals of America as a nation. The US economy has been weighed down by heavy debts and desperate government policies to enable the economy to grow out of the debt doldrums while also boosting pay for the low earners. As the new decade opens, the US has taken steps to correct flaws in the economic management, as well as increase the focus on space exploration. In December 2019, the Space Force, as the 6th branch of the US military was created. President Trump has also championed a manned mission to Mars by 2032, when the Mars major period begins. Underlying this focus is the accelerating technological change, in such areas as AI, quantum computers, robotics, batteries and automation. While this is causing a disruption for production, exchange, jobs and living standards, the new capabilities in transportation and communication will create plenty of opportunities for new jobs and life styles. More effort will undoubtedly be put into pollution abatement. The accelerating arms race is leading to stunning new destructive capabilities, making arms control and peaceful relations all the more important."

CANDIDATE HOROSCOPES

However, the most informative election predictions rely on the horoscopes of the leading candidates.

Please note that in predicting the 2020 win for Donald Trump in 2020, a Libra rising chart was used for Joe Biden, which proved to be the wrong ascendant for him, skewing the assessment.

A year ago, on December 30, 2023, using the preferable Scorpio rising chart for Joe Biden, I wrote:

"The outcome of the [2024] Presidential election seems uncertain, if only the horoscopes of the leading candidates at this stage are considered. Trump has a far more dynamic chart. Nevertheless, Joe Biden may have an edge over Trump on election day."

Further, after presenting a thorough analysis of their charts I noted:

"That said, again, both these men may not stand for the election. Many hurdles remain to be overcome. In the event of their dropping out, the charts of those that replace them will then have to be examined for their relative strength to win."

On July 21, 2024, Joe Biden, the incumbent president of the United States, announced his withdrawal from the 2024 United States presidential election and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as his replacement.

On July 21, 2024, Professor K. Rajesh Chaudhary wrote on the SAMVA discussion list on Io Groups.

"Let’s see who steps in his shoes. This strengthens Mr Trump’s position."

On July 23, 2024, a discussion took place about the respective candidates, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. I wrote:

"A few observations and a prediction.
1. Trump's chart has more pronounced strengths in his chart compared to the overall weakness of Kamala Harris' chart.
Point: Trump
2. Trump is running a strong benefic Jupiter major planetary period, whereas Kamala Harris is running a challenging Rahu period.
Point: Trump
3. Trump's tr 5L Jupiter is in his 10H, whereas Harris' tr Rahu is in 10H.

4. Both are running sub-period of a FB Venus. Trump's 3L Venus is weak and badly placed in 12H, but in conjunction with 7L Saturn. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris' 5L Venus is weak due to the 5H being afflicted, while being well placed but in afflicted 3H, that is owned by 3L Sun that is afflicted in an afflicted house.

5. At closing of the polls on November 5, 2024, in Trump's chart there are afflictions involving his tr 3L Venus in late 4H, but which will have begun to separate, wheras the affliction to Kamala Harris's tr 5L Venus in late 6H, will still be applying.

If the 2024 election is between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, Trump is likelier to win, but only by a hair."

On August 31, 2024, I added the following observations about the two candidates:

"With Gemini rising Kamala Harris would have an adaptable and communicative personality. Rahu on the ascendant would make her 'diplomatic'. Mostly good placements are helpful, but aspects of FMs hinder. She seems better suited for diplomatic assignments rather than a major executive role.
With Leo in the ascendant, Donald Trump would have a fixed and ruling personality, however, as Mars is on the ascendant, ruling cardinal sign Aries, he would also be a change agent. Trump has some amazing planets but also badly placed planets and harsh afflictions involving his 1L Sun [in 10H]. He's clearly a historic figure."

THE NATIONAL HOROSCOPE AGAIN

On the eve of the election, on November 4, 2024, I added an exploratory analysis of the SAMVA USA chart:

"SAMVA USA chart has Mo/Ra period and the afflictions involving...

Natal 3L Mercury in 7H by tr stat FM Ketu in 3H and Tr 3L Mercury in 5H by tr stat FM Rahu in 9H. Setbacks for communication of government seen.

...it looks like an upset win by the challenger."

On November 8, 2024, in a post-election discussion revolving around the Moon major period, I added.

"There is plenty to look at in the SAMVA USA chart regarding the future.
The mutual aspect of exalted 1L Moon in 11H and in own non-MT sign strong 10L Mars in 5H gives a union of aspirations and ability, involving technical ability and institutional reforms.
Indeed, I really thought Trump would win in 2020 because no one else seemed capable of delivering the pioneering advances expected in this period.
That said, his Supreme Court justices did deliver the abortion reforms in 2021, allowing the states to balance the choice involved in a termination of pregnancy, affecting the mother's control over her own body, the unborn child's right to life and the role of motherhood.
Instead of Trump continuing in 2020, we got Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for 4 years. But they did give the US its aspirational elements - the caring embrace of immigrants and a 'freedom of being' that the LGBTQ community so desires. They also tried a non-aggressive foreign policy approach in dealing with hard headed leaders with violent designs.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk fulfilled the expected tech wizardry with Tesla, SpaceX and AI in ChatGPT, as well as buying Twitter to safeguard social media from the corporations attempt to install Orwellian right-think and suppress Trumpian voices.
And now, Trump is back."

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, the balance of the predictions has held up well, whether based on the SAMVA USA chart or the horoscopes of the leading candidates. In 2024, Donald Trump won a closely contested election. What is more, even if transit challenges are seen in the Spring of 2025, progress related to the Moon major period will likely continue in the USA for many years to come.

Front row: Freud, unknown, Jung

Few authors in psychology have become as famous as Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung. And few were initially as close, but later fell out over their different ideas.

In this article the lives of these outstanding men are explored in terms of their sidereal or Vedic horoscopes, based on the Systems' Approach to Interpreting Horoscopes.

In some sense, their innovations have by now been eclipsed by Western allopathic medicine, which can treat difficult mental illnesses, on the one hand, and on the other by Eastern methodologies for wellness, both physical and psychological, that can bring relief to those suffering from mental troubles or unhappiness.

Let's begin with a review of their lives.

Sigmund Freud

Sigmund Freud, a medical doctor by training, was deeply influenced by Darwin’s theories. He saw humans as evolved animals and believed that all behavior, including neuroses, stemmed from the repression of primal drives of sex and aggression. Freud theorized that personality disorders were rooted in childhood experiences that had been long forgotten.

Freud’s practice was largely composed of women patients seeking treatment. For women, Freud theorized that their psychological development involved the early realization of their lack of a penis, leading to feelings of castration and inferiority.

Despite his atheism, Freud dedicated his adult life to working closely with patients, delving into the unconscious and dreams. His theories were developed through the self-analysis of his own dreams, a pioneering approach that contributed significantly to psychiatry.

Freud’s work was groundbreaking in its exploration of the personal unconscious in the quest for mental health. He believed that by bringing repressed memories and experiences into conscious awareness, individuals could find relief from their symptoms. This formed the basis of his psychoanalytic therapy, which focused on healing childhood trauma through the exploration of the unconscious mind.

Freud’s magnum opus, The Interpretation of Dreams, was first published on November 4, 1899, but bore the publication date of 1900 to symbolize its association with the dawn of a new century. The book initially received a lukewarm response, with only 600 copies printed and taking eight years to sell out. However, it later gained popularity and influence, leading Freud to publish seven more editions in his lifetime, each time revising and expanding the text.

Freud’s work on the interpretation of dreams laid the foundation for the development of psychoanalysis as a method of treating mental disorders. His theories, though controversial, have had a profound impact on the field of psychology and continue to influence contemporary thought on the human mind and behavior."

In the 1920s, Freud became world famous. His groundbreaking ideas transcended the realm of science, captivating intellectuals, artists, and the public alike. His influence was so profound that he was repeatedly nominated for both the Nobel Prize in Literature and Medicine, despite never clinching either. His followers formed a global network, establishing psychoanalytic societies and journals, even as his theories sparked debates among psychologists, philosophers, and religious authorities.

Freud’s seminal work, The Ego and the Id published in April 1923, introduced his structural model of the psyche, dividing it into the id, the ego, and the superego. The book was met with both acclaim and criticism. Ernest Jones, Freud’s close associate, hailed it as a landmark in human thought, while Karl Abraham, a prominent psychoanalyst, underscored its significance for psychoanalytic theory. However, Otto Rank, a former Freud disciple, criticized it as a regression to pre-scientific psychology.

Carl Jung

Born into a humble family, Carl G. Jung’s life was a testament to the power of resilience and determination. His journey began with a childhood marked by poverty, but his relentless drive to succeed propelled him forward. At the tender age of 12, he faced a severe psychotic episode triggered by bullying, leading to a six-month hiatus from school. However, overhearing his father’s despair about his future, Jung found the will to recover.

When Jung was 21 and in his second year of university, his father’s death threatened to end his academic pursuits due to financial constraints. The expectation was for him to leave university, find employment, and support his mother and sister. Defying these expectations, Jung secured a loan and completed his studies.

At 28, Jung’s life took a significant turn when he married into Switzerland’s second wealthiest family. This newfound wealth liberated him from the financial shackles of his profession, enabling him to work independently. Jung’s personal life was far from exemplary. Known as a womanizer, he had numerous affairs, including a long-term relationship with a former patient. His wife threatened to leave him multiple times, but each time, Jung’s psychotic episodes kept her from leaving. She would have taken her fortune with her when she left."

"In her will, the heiress bequeathed the bulk of her estate to her children, leaving Jung only the minimum amount demanded by law. After she died, Jung thought himself poor and took unnecessary measures to save money and live frugally (Bair, 2003)."

Jung spent his days healing wounded emotions through "talk therapy." However, he was not noted for clarity of thought. Jung was often criticized for a meandering writing style. He had a gift for expression, but it didn't necessarily guarantee his success. Nonetheless, he left behind a large collection of written words."

Throughout his life, Jung remained devoted to the study of the unconscious, developing his theories through personal consultations and introspection.

"He lived to the hilt; gave himself away, where he sacrificed himself, he also fell from grace. He invented depth psychology, studied the shadow, astrology, and alchemy. He married money, had affairs, a near-death experience, psychotic episodes, and was the first to realize that alcoholism is a disease of spirit.

Despite the financial hardships and personal challenges that Jung faced throughout his life, his theories have had a profound impact on the field of psychology. His exploration into the collective unconscious and the development of the concept of archetypes have provided valuable insights into understanding the human psyche. In one way "he attempted to find balance in the inner reaches of the psyche". As such, his work continues to influence modern psychology and his exploration of his own shadow and his contributions to psychology are his enduring gifts to the world. It has been observed that "When Jung died, his public life came into the spotlight."

Famous falling out

In 1907, a young Carl Jung met Sigmund Freud and was quickly hailed as the successor to Freud’s psychoanalytic throne. Their initial unity, however, began to crumble by 1911 due to Jung’s interest in the Zurich occult and his concept of the collective unconscious, which Freud refused to acknowledge.

The rift deepened with Jung’s rejection of Freud’s theory that neurosis had a sexual basis. As such, Jung's work could be understood to be a refutation of the basis of Freud's psychoanalytic work. Jung’s Psychology of the Unconscious, published in 1912, signaled his departure from Freud’s theories. To differentiate his approach, he named it analytical psychology.

As the Freud-Jung relationship deteriorated, a Secret Committee was formed to protect the psychoanalytic movement’s theoretical and institutional legacy. However, Jung eventually resigned from his editorial and presidential roles and the Zurich Society withdrew from the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA). In January 1913 Jung had an official split with Freud, marked by a terse exchange of letters. Jung then found himself excluded from Freud’s inner circle and plunged into another psychotic episode. This period of introspection enriched his understanding of the unconscious for the rest of his life. Despite the professional setback and social marginalization orchestrated by Freud, Jung used this period productively for self-study of the personal unconscious. He emerged with a new understanding of the psyche as a battleground of inner gods.

The astrology of Freud's chart

Sigmund Freud was born on May 6, 1856 at 6:30 p.m. (LMT -1:12:36) in Pribor, Czechia (then Frieberg, Germany), giving 14° Libra rising.

Libra is a moveable, airy and positive sign ruled by Venus, the significator for materialistic pursuits and comforts. Saturn, the planet of hard work and discipline, is exalted in this sign and the Sun, the significator of vitality and status, is debilitated.

If Venus is strong, these factors render the Librans a magnetic personality, and they enjoy good health. Otherwise, they are vulnerable to diseases.

Libra signifies sense of justice, clarity, strong will-power, optimism and is highly sensitive. The weakness and affliction to Venus can turn them into depressed, stubborn, argumentative and annoying persons.

Venus makes the person a life saviour through the practice of medicine and gives tremendous growth in business activities. As first lord Venus is well placed but weak in the 7th house of others, Freud was vulnerable to disease. Mars, as dispositor of the 7th house, is badly placed in the 12th house of losses. Indeed, Freud battled cancer for the last 16 years of his life. However, this is explained by Venus being conjunct the planet Rahu, which brings such hard to diagnose, long set illnesses. He was in Ketu major period and Rahu sub-period when he died.

A strong Saturn, being yoga karaka planet for this nativity, makes the person worldly wise and shrewd. Indeed, Freud's 5th lord Saturn, ruling his creative powers, was well placed in the 9th house of preferment and luck. His first work, that made him famous, was created and published at the start of his Saturn major period.

The eleventh house, signifying income, elder brothers, friends and desires, is ruled by the royal planet, the Sun. They think big and enjoy successes of a high order. They enjoy the patronage of highly placed friends, elder brothers and governmental authorities, whenever the Sun is strong in the nativity. Freud's Sun was exalted in the 7th house of others, suggesting his goals were focused on discerning their problems.

His 3rd lord Jupiter, which rules communication but also "younger brothers" is placed in the 6th house of conflict. Freud's falling out happened in his Saturn major period and Rahu sub-period, but also just preceded the Saturn-Jupiter period. The rupture of the friendship must have been a difficult experience for Freud as well.

The astrology of Jung's chart

Carl Jung was born on July 26, 1875 at 7:32 p.m. (LMT – 0:37:20) in Kesswil, Switzerland. This time gives 9° Capricorn rising.

Capricorn is an earthy, negative, introvert and movable sign ruled by Saturn, the significator of dutifulness and responsibility. Mars, the significator of energy and ambition, is exalted in this sign and Jupiter, the significator of fortune and knowledge, is debilitated. These factors render the people born in Capricorn ascendant ambitious and hardworking. Capricorn is the sign of practical realization. At the same time they are conservative but selfish and selective in approach. They are secretive, pensive, proud and fastidious. They are vigilant and tactful. They have compromising nature in order to achieve leadership.

Rahu and Ketu, the Sun and Jupiter are functional malefic planets for Capricorn ascendant, while Saturn, Mars, the Moon, Mercury and Venus are functional benefic planets.

A domineering placement in the chart is Sun in the 7th house MEP, from where it aspects the 1st house of self. As 8th lord of obstacles and endings as well as easy gains, the Sun explains that he attracted a wealthy spouse. However, the same placement also caused troubles in his marriage, given his selfish behaviour.

Carl Jung had 9th lord Mercury in the 6th house of conflict, enmity and illness. This gave a deep interest in higher ideas. Moreover, as Mercury is conjunct Venus as 10th lord of career, this helped to propel him high through his writings.

Jung's relationship with Freud is also seen in this 6th house combination, showing conflict with guru, but also with the aspect of 8th lord Sun to the 9th house. Carl Jung was destined to cause his teacher some amount of consternation, followed by a famous falling out between them, when Freud rejected Jung as his disciple, and open conflict, as Freud openly opposed his teachings.

The placement of Saturn in infancy but its own Moolatrikona sign of Aquarius, gave Carl Jung good status. Venus as 10th lord in the 6th house, albeit conjunct 9th lord Mercury, also gave luck in career, that resulted from conflict. Jung had to struggle for a long time for his ideas to reach the masses, which happened more after his death. The falling out with Freud made Jung famous by association. The bad placement and weakness of 10th lord Venus also explains the poverty of his family when growing up, although its did not prevent him from marrying rich.

The placement of 4th lord Mars in old age in the 11th house of friendship and income, shows that his inner harmony was sensitive and vulnerable to setbacks associated with challenging transits. Indeed, he became seriously despondent at various stages of his life, linked also to alliances and income. Moreover, with Moon ruling mind and as 7th lord ruling spouse and relationships, in the 4th house of inner harmony, Jung fell ill but his great fortune was that his wife took good care of him.

The Sun is also the significator for the soul, whereas Jupiter is the significator for morality and generosity. While these planets are functional malefic planets for people with Capricorn ascendant, they may, if strong and not afflicting or afflicted, ensure a happy and harmonious married life. In Jung's case, Jupiter is well placed but weak in infancy of 10th house, whereas the Sun, strong by degree, was weak on account of its own affliction to the 7th house of spouse.

Epilogue

The Western approach to understanding the mind, as exemplified by Freud and Jung, differs significantly from the Eastern approach. Freud and Jung focused on analyzing the unconscious mind, with Freud emphasizing the influence of repressed emotions, desires, and memories, and Jung introducing the concept of the collective unconscious. At the same time, both were in some way influenced by the 19th century German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer who was influenced by Eastern philosophies. For instance, Schopenhauer’s philosophy of the will and his exploration of the nature of desire greatly influenced Jung’s understanding of the unconscious.

In turn, the Eastern approach emphasizes a holistic view of the mind, body, and spirit, and promotes a balanced lifestyle that includes proper nutrition, regular exercise, and mindfulness practices. Indeed, Eastern mystics and their practices, such as yoga, aim to connect the individual with the all-pervading consciousness or life itself. The goal is not to ignore one’s mind and bodily sensations, but rather to achieve a state of balance and harmony beyond mental activity and bodily sensations that leads to a profound sense of peace and happiness.

In fact, for most people the best way to achieve health, happiness and wellbeing is not talk therapy and analysis, as Freud and even Jung advocated, but inner work that quiets the mind and ignores the bodily sensations, in order to experience life at its most pure and vibrant source, deep within ourselves. In a way, the work has thus shifted from the psyche to the soul.

Predictions for the USA in 2024

As the new year opens, the legal travails of former President Donald Trump may begin to impact US national cohesion. His supporters may become frustrated if his ability to mount a national campaign is impeded. In the House, Republican efforts to impeach President Joe Biden may continue but not affect Biden's standing. Transit pressures in Biden's chart are shown to ease in the coming year. As 2023 ends, his poll numbers have even begun to rise slightly.

In the fall, there could be violent events leading up to the Presidential election. The rule of law, the legitimacy of the elections and democracy itself may become challenged. Financial turbulence and a recession are also possible in the fall of 2024. The outcome of the Presidential election seems uncertain, if only the horoscopes of the leading candidates at this stage are considered. Trump has a far more dynamic chart. Nevertheless, Joe Biden may have an edge over Trump on election day.

Period influences

In the SAMVA USA chart, the Moon major period is continuing through 2032, suggesting that the focus of the nation is on the national identity, including its historical role as a refuge and opportunity for immigrants, and on the wellbeing of the citizens.

Many years ago, I wrote this about the strong Moon in the US horoscope:

"The royal planet Moon is ruler of the chart. It is strong and exalted in eleventh house of income, hopes and friends, giving a visionary nature and excellent financial strength. Aspect from Mars gives technical know-how, magnanimity and lasting fame. Aspect from Jupiter gives a fixed and war-like nature, but also a religious nature. A strong role for caring is seen."

Given its auspiciousness, the Moon major period gives a huge lift and this has been the case in prior Moon major periods. However, the sub-period, which lasts for only a part of the ten-year major period, has an influence that is more important during its briefer passage. In 2024, the Rahu sub-period will be operating. In the SAMVA USA chart, Rahu is placed in the 10th house MEP, suggesting manipulations and corruption in government and legislative affairs.

If Rahu is afflicted or afflicting in a chart it tends to be associated with manipulations that may result in significant gains but which usually leads to exposure and significant losses. Rahu is also linked to intoxicants, manipulation for selfish ends and criminal activities. Among the professions, Rahu rules unscrupulous salesmen, diplomats, winemakers, shady characters and criminals."

Since the financial crisis of 2007-2009, the term "Crony Capitalism" has come to the fore in the public debate. Last year, Rahu transited the 10th house of government and legislature, when the House Speaker was voted out. In the past there have been many major upheavals in those areas of the national life. As Rahu transits the 9^th house in 2024, this suggests there will be plenty of manipulations and corruption in the affairs of the courts, religious institutions and diplomatic missions.

As astrologer and author, K. Rajesh Chaudhary, also the co-Propounder of the Systems' Approach, suggests.

"The 9th house rules the judicial system, morality, religion, diplomats, foreign missions, progress and development. The close afflictions to the ninth house or its lord by the malefic planets, especially Rahu or Rahu-like planets, bring the incidence of corrupt practices and setbacks for the fortune of the country."

The transit of Rahu in that house may also undermine international support for the country.

While transit Rahu passe through the sign of Pisces in a retrograde manner, from 30° to 0°, it will aspect three planets placed in the 5th house as well as the 5th house itself. As such, 5th house matters are also likely to come to the fore in the national life in 2024, involving increased crime, drugs and manipulations, causing harm to young people. Manipulations may create problems for universities, just like the courts.

"The 5th house rules intellectuals, emotional stability, communal harmony, speculative nature of the people, investments, stock exchange, children, population, universities, morals and values of the people. The close natal or transit afflictions to the fifth house or its lord by the most malefic planet or slow-moving planets indicate emotional upset for the country and setbacks to the financial markets of the country."

Two earlier Moon major and Rahu sub-periods took place 1783 -1785 and 1903-1905. Both were periods of progress. However, there were also challenges. Please note that the transits were likely quite different at those times, not accounted for here, thereby also influencing the events that arose.

A. September 9, 1783 to March 10, 1785

Auspicious:

Treaty of Paris was signed on September 3, 1783, ending the Revolutionary War and recognizing the independence of the United States. Further, the Continental Congress ratified the Treaty of Paris on January 14, 1784, and exchanged ratifications with Great Britain on May 12, 1784.
After holding its first session in Philadelphia from March 2, 1781, the Congress of the Confederation met next in Trenton, New Jersey, on November 1, 1784, and then moved to New York City in January 1785.
Land Ordinance of 1784 was passed by the Congress of the Confederation on April 23, 1784, establishing a system for surveying and settling the western lands.

Challenging:

The United States faced economic and political challenges as a new and independent nation. As set out in the Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union, the Congress of the Confederation lacked the power to tax, regulate trade, or enforce laws. This was the prerogative of the states and they often acted in their own interests. The national debt after the Revolutionary War was huge, and the currency had been worthless since 1779, making people having to resort to a wide array of other but more insecure forms of money. Many veterans of the war were not paid and faced poverty and hardship.
The United States also faced diplomatic and military threats from Britain, Spain, and Native Americans. Britain refused to evacuate its forts in the Northwest Territory, Spain closed the Mississippi River to American navigation, and Native Americans resisted American expansion into their lands. The Congress of the Confederation was also unable to raise an army or a navy to defend the nation’s interests and borders.
The United States experienced social unrest and violence, such as the Newburgh Conspiracy in March 1783, which was a plot by some disgruntled officers of the Continental Army to overthrow the Congress of the Confederation and install a military dictatorship. The conspiracy was foiled by George Washington, who appealed to the officers’ patriotism and loyalty.

B. September 9, 1903 to March 10, 1905

Auspicious:

Hay-Herran Treaty was signed on January 22, 1903, granting the United States a renewable lease in perpetuity from Colombia on the land proposed for the Panama Canal.
U.S. Census Bureau became part of the new U.S. Department of Commerce and Labor on February 14, 1903.
First silent film, The Great Train Robbery, debuted in 1903.
Wright brothers made the first powered flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, on December 17, 1903.
Panama Canal Zone was established on February 26, 1904, after Panama declared its independence from Colombia with U.S. support.
Louisiana Purchase Exposition, also known as the St. Louis World’s Fair, opened on April 30, 1904, celebrating the centennial of the Louisiana Purchase.
First subway line in New York City opened on October 27, 1904.

Challenging:

The United States faced labor and social problems as a result of rapid industrialization and urbanization. The working conditions in factories, mines, and mills were often harsh, unsafe, and low-paid, and workers had little protection from exploitation and abuse.
The United States also faced racial and ethnic tensions, as well as immigration issues. The Jim Crow laws enforced racial segregation and discrimination in the South, and the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacist groups terrorized African Americans and other minorities.
The United States also faced political and economic challenges, such as corruption, monopolies, and trusts. The Progressive Era, which began in the late 19th century and lasted until the early 20th century, was a period of social and political reform that aimed to address these issues and improve the lives of the American people.

Based on the above historical facts, and period and transit influences the following developments could take place in the third Moon-Rahu period, notably in 2024:

C. September 9, 2023 to March 10, 2025

Auspicious:

Some significant advances are to be expected for the progress and development of the country. This may be more so in February and first half of March 2024, when transit 10th lord Mars passes through Capricorn, its sign of exaltation, and in the 7th house of foreign affairs, in June and until mid July, when it passes through its own sign Aries and the 10th house of government and legislature.

Challenging:

A scandal may erupt in the judicial system, which may undermine the public trust or confidence in the rule of law. Some judge and/or prosecutors may be accused of abusing their power to harm certain candidates, such as former President Trump.
A foreign war may erupt in the first half of 2024, but with the US not directly involved.
A debt crisis may erupt in the fall as the public debt soares over $35 trillion, far exceeding the $26 trillion size of the US economy. If the federal government is perceived as being unable fund its operations, the bond market may react with alarm, driving up interest rates and sparking fears of a financial meltdown. Such a crisis would also strain the social safety net, as millions of Americans struggle to afford health care, education, and housing.
After considerable monetary tightening, a recession may unfold in 2024, resulting in unemployment rate moving up again, adding to the concerns for financial and political stability.
Allegations of corruption of leaders in the higher education system may emerge at some universities.
A mass shooting at a US university is possible in the fall of 2024.
As the 2024 presidential election approaches, the country may be deeply divided and polarized. Violent clashes may erupt between supporters and opponents of different candidates and parties. The election itself may become marred by controversy and chaos, including allegations of election interference, which may serve to undermine the legitimacy of the election.
A threat of a constitutional crisis or civil war may arise, undermining the belief in democracy as a viable political system.

Let's examine the transits more closely.

Transit influences in first half of 2024

As the year opens, challenges are seen for the impartial rule of law, as well as for the functioning of the government and legislature. Note that the analysis does not cover the transits of the fast moving planets, which sometimes act as triggers. One exception is the transit of the Sun over the stationary nodal axis in early April and end September, when the President may face a sudden but short-lived crisis.

As 2023 closes and into mid-January 2024: Rahu in Pisces and the 9th house will be forming an exact aspect to natal 8th lord Saturn at 26° 46‘ Scorpio and the 5th house. Manipulation and confusion are possible in the courts involving issues that affect the legitimacy of US politics and society.

In the first three weeks of January 2023: Transit 8L Saturn in the 8^th house will be forming an exact aspect to natal 10^th lord Mars at 10° 09’ Scorpio and 5^th house. Obstacles and endings are likely for the function of the government, legislature and law enforcement.

In the fourth week of January into mid-February 2023: Transit 8^th lord Saturn in the 8^th house will closely aspect transit 6^th lord Jupiter in Aries and 10^th house. Obstacles and endings may create violence associated with conflict in the public sphere. There may be labour strikes or setbacks for the police or US military. Fortunately, this aspect does not become exact, albeit within 1° orb.

January 1 to February 5, 2024: Transit 10^th lord Mars will pass through Sagittarius and the 6^th house of conflict. Conflict involving the US government and legislature is likely. Strains in government finances are also possible.

Late March to late May 2024: Transit Rahu will be stationary conjunct the 9th house MEP. Manipulation and cheating are likely to be witnessed in the court system and in obtaining support for the country, with influences on the national identity, higher education, management of the country and speculation.M

In late March and early April of 2024: Transit 8th lord Saturn is passing through the 8th house MEP. This transit may impart setbacks involving obstacles and endings for areas such as speculation, management, university and entertainment, government, legislature and foreign trade, and wealth, close neighbours and status of the country. 'Easy gains' are also possible with regard to the above indications.

April 4-6, 2024: Transit 2nd lord Sun will pass over transit stationary Rahu in 9th house. This brief transit suggests problems for the President with the courts, religious institutions and general support.

From March 10 to June 10, 2024: Transit Rahu will be stationary at 21° Pisces, the most effective point of the 9th house, from where it also aspects the 5th house, 1st house and the 3rd house. This suggests that manipulative energy will be focused in judicial matters, involving also management, communication and the self image of the country.

From March 10 to June 10, 2024: Transit Ketu will be stationary at 21° Virgo, the 3rd house MEP, from where it also aspects the 11th house, 7th house and the 9th house. This suggests sudden adverse events involving transportation and communication, foreign relations, judicial matters and income.

Transit influences in the second half of 2024

The transit influences will become decidedly more difficult in the fall of 2024. At that time, violent events are likely to manifest. There is also the risk of a financial panic, possibly involving government debt, as well as a recession.

From second week of September through 1^st week of November: Transit 6^th lord Jupiter in Taurus and 11^th house will be in stationary aspect to natal 8^th lord Saturn in the 5^th house. This is a violence inducing aspect, suggesting that conflict about the goals, alliances and income of the USA is focused on speculation, management, entertainment and university life. Possibly, there may be a disagreement involving labour unions that turns violent. There is also a possibility that there will be yet another deadly university campus shooting that disturbs the nation.

From mid September through third week of October: Transit 8^th lord Saturn will be conjunct the 8^th house MEP, from where it also aspects the 5^th house, 10^th house and 2^nd house. This transit may impart setbacks involving obstacles and endings for areas such as speculation, management, university and entertainment, government, legislature and foreign trade, and wealth, close neighbours and status of the country. Easy gains are also possible with regard to the above indications.

September 29 to October 1, 2024: Transit 2^nd lord Sun will pass over transit stationary Ketu at 12° Virgo and 3^rd house. This will be a time of a sudden crisis for the President and high ranking leaders, involving government communication and transportation.

From late October to early December: Transit 8^th lord Saturn will be aspected by natal Ketu at 18° Libra and 4H MEP. Fortunately, transit 8^th lord will no longer be stationary, and the aspect comes within 1° but does not become exact, lessening the influence. This is a time when a sudden explosive development is possible involving obstacles and endings. This may be linked to the election, suggesting that there is a sudden adverse development involving the legitimacy, requiring bureaucratic involvement.

From second week of December 2023 to mid January 2024: Transit 8^th lord Saturn will again be conjunct the 8^th house MEP, from where it also aspects the 5^th house, 10^th house and 2^nd house. See above reading for likely influence.

The 2024 US Presidential Election

As the year 2023 ends, it seems as if Joe Biden will be the Democratic candidate for President in 2024 and that Donald Trump will be the Republican candidate. Of course, this could easily change as both are quite old by now, or 81 and 77 years old, respectively. As that were not enough, both men are being hounded by political opponents over alleged illegalities that would disqualify them from office. Joe Biden stands to be impeached by the GOP controlled House and twice-impeached Donald Trump stands to be prevented from running by his opponents if they have their way in the courts.

Joe Biden has 10° Scorpio rising and at election time will be running a favourable major and sub-period of 4th lord Saturn that is well placed in the 7th house of relationships, leisure and foreign travel. Moreover, as transit 4th lord Saturn is well placed in his 4th house during 2024, his inner harmony and home life is seen to be fairly peaceful. However, the recent transit station of 4th lord Saturn over his Ketu at 7° Aquarius and the MEP of his 4th house, was likely difficult, as it deprived him of exactly those attributes. Now that this transit has passed, things are lightening up for him, including the polls. Even if the affairs of government carry with them a good amount of stress, he seems to have delegated a lot of the work to others. On election day, Joe Biden will be contending with a station of Rahu in the MEP of his 11th house of friendships, goals and income, suggesting that his opponents will continue to make the case that he has received ill gotten gains from foreign sources through his family members that involve government favours in return. Transit Ketu will also be in his 5th house MEP suggesting difficulty surrounding his children, notably Hunter Biden, and that a hands-off management style may become the rule. Nevertheless, he may still have a chance of being re-elected if a health crisis does not sideline him before that date.

Donald Trump has 6° Leo rising and is running a favourable Jupiter major period, with 5th lord Jupiter, ruling intelligence, management and children, that is well placed and strong in the 2nd house of wealth of status, which had begun to operate just after the election in 2016. The upset win was accurately predicted in 2015 by the late astrologer and author, V. K. Choudhry, the propounder of the Systems' Approach.

In the 2020 election, Donald Trump was running a less helpful Saturn period, with also his transit 7th lord Saturn passing through the 6th house of conflict. In January and February 2021, upto six planets ganged up in his 6th house, involving him in the battle of his life, the January 6 riot or insurrection (take your pick). This was followed by his second impeachment by the Democrat-controlled House, but which he was also acquitted of by the GOP-led Senate as his transit 1st lord Sun had entered the 7th house and transit 12th lord Moon was in 8th house.

From mid 2021 until late 2023, Trump was running a supremely strong sub-period of Mercury as 2nd lord in the 11th house. As predicted, Trump rallied after the post-election drubbing and regained his footing as the leader of the Republican party.

However, in November 2023, his Ketu sub-period began. It will be running until October 2024. Ketu is exalted in the 4th house but it is conjunct a debilitated 12th lord Moon in opposition to exalted Rahu and old age 1st lord Sun in the 10th house. This is not a helpful combination. Indeed, Trump is now beset by him being thrown off the ballot in two states and is faced with numerous court cases that threaten his ability to stand in the election. It is not at all clear that he will make it to the GOP convention as the undisputed leader and candidate of his party. Even if he does so, he will have the Venus sub-period begin in October 2024, with 3rd lord Venus badly placed and weak in infancy in the 12th house of losses, where it is also conjunct 7th lord Saturn.

At the close of polls on election night, transit 3rd lord Venus will be passing over his 12th lord Moon and Ketu in late Scorpio and 4th house. This is not an ideal combination. That said, his major period lord, transit Jupiter, will be strong in the 10th house in mutual aspect with his natal Jupiter in the 2nd house, in opposition with his natal and transit combination in the 4th house. This suggests some divine grace and some contentment. His 7th lord Saturn will also be strong in the 7th house, which is helpful for relations with others, including spouse. His transit 1st lord Sun will also be debilitated in the 3rd house, owned by his weak natal and transit Venus.

Verdict: It looks like Joe Biden will generally be at peace but face great scrutiny leading up to the election. By comparison, Donald Trump will be faced with a sudden deterioration in his overall position. Spontaneous remarks, that are usually not well received, are his stock in trade and this could sink his campaign in the final stretch. As a result, Joe Biden looks more likely to be re-elected of the two.

That said, again, both these men may not stand for the election. Many hurdles remain to be overcome. In the event of their dropping out, the charts of those that replace them will then have to be examined for their relative strength to win.

Summary

In the first half of 2024, the Democrats 'lawfare' campaign to end the candidacy of leading Republican, Donald Trump, for President, may create a crisis of legitimacy for the 2024 Presidential elections. Tensions are seen into the summer months.

However, it is during the fall that most of the problems are expected. There may be violence and financial turbulence leading up to the election. A recession could unfold in 2024, with rising unemployment. The ability of the government to deal with the situation may become challenged, as investors demand higher interest rates on long-term government debt.

Dangerous Russia

A year ago, Russia's President, Vladimir Putin, began to alarm the world with his statements threatening nuclear war. After months of massing troops on the Ukraine border, Putin ordered his military to invade on February 24, 2022.

The West has been helping Ukraine escape Russia's orbit. Certainly, the majority of the citizens in the western and central part of Ukraine want to turn towards the West, while views in the east may be more mixed. Putin is angry that the US-led military assistance to Ukraine, which is fighting to reclaim occupied territories, thwarting his goal of restoring Russia as a power to be reckoned with in the world.

Not surprisingly, the western world increasingly sees Russia as a threat to world peace.

"Over 70% of global citizens see Russia as a threat to the world after more than a year of the country’s war with Ukraine, even as support appears to be waning slightly for the invaded nation, according to findings from the 2023 U.S. News Best Countries survey."[1]

But the picture is not black and white. Russia also has a long history of being invaded by outside forces and this hyper-defensiveness may be part of their collective psychology, resulting in aggression.

HISTORY OF INVASIONS

In 1223, the Mongols invaded and began to conquer and rule over Russia for over two centuries. The Mongol Golden Horde ruled over Russia for centuries, but was defeated by the Russian army led by Prince Dmitry Donskoy in the Battle of Kulikovo in 1380. By 1480, the last of the Mongols were gone.
In 1242, the Teutonic Knights, a Germanic military order, invaded Russia and were defeated by Alexander Nevsky, a prince of Novgorod.
In 1605, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth invaded Russia during the Time of Troubles, a period of political and social upheaval, lasting until 1618.
In 1812, Napoleon Bonaparte invaded Russia with a Grand Army of over 600,000 soldiers. The invasion ended in disaster for the French, with only 100,000 soldiers returning home a few years later.
On 22 June 1941, Adolph Hitler invaded the Soviet Union during World War II, leading to one of the deadliest conflicts in human history. The invasion resulted in significant casualties on both sides. According to German Army medical reports, the Germans suffered over 1 million casualties, while the Soviet Union suffered even greater losses, with over 4.5 million military casualties. The Germans began their retreat in January 1942, and the last German troops left Soviet territory in 1944.

In the Putin era, since 2000, Russia has been increasingly assertive in defending its interests and borders. Putin has argued that Russia has the right to defend itself against perceived threats, both internal and external. In recent years, Russia has been involved in conflicts in Ukraine and Syria, which it has justified as necessary to protect its national security.

In this regard, Putin has long singled out for criticism NATO's eastward expansion, which he sees as a threat to Russia’s security. Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 and its support for separatist rebels in eastern Ukraine have been controversial, with many countries condemning Russia’s actions as a violation of international law. However, Putin has argued that Russia was simply protecting the rights of ethnic Russians in Ukraine and that the annexation of Crimea was necessary to prevent NATO from expanding further eastward.

Indeed, NATO has been expanding eastward. Putin claims it is doing so in violation of earlier assurances by US leaders that it would not do so. It is clear that NATO has been cooperating with Ukraine since the early 1990s and the latest development is that Ukraine has been cleared to join the defense alliance once the current hostilities end. The EU has also been intimidating that Ukraine could become a member since 2002. On February 28, 2022, Ukraine formally applied, with the EU further clearing its path for membership since.

Putin is also focused on preserving Russia's national customs, especially language and religion. It is often forgotten that Russia is on a civilizational path that is different from that of the West.[2] Putin claims the West has become a cesspool of loose morality. He fails to recognize the progress for freedom of people to be as they wish, that it truly represents.

But more importantly, Putin is furious over the West's reluctance to cede to it the territories it has taken from Ukraine, thwarting Russia's ambitions.

BELLIGERENCE TOWARDS NEIGHBOURS

During the Putin era, Russia has become an increasingly belligerent actor on the world stage, with the treats far exceeding those made by the country's leaders during the Soviet Era and the immediate post-Soviet years (1917-2000).

Here are four aggressive steps Putin has taken to annex territories in neighbouring states.

In 2008, Russia and Georgia fought a brief war over the breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, which Russia later recognized as independent states
In 2014, Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine, a move that was widely condemned by the international community
In 2015, Russia established a military base in Armenia, a country that has a long-standing territorial dispute with Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh region
In 2022, Russia illegally annexed four Ukrainian regions, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia, despite major battlefield reversals in recent days shrinking the amount of seized territory Moscow controls

Currently, according to a report by CNBC, Ukraine’s top military leader has said that the war with Russia has reached a “stalemate” and that a “beautiful breakthrough” is unlikely.

But that is not all, Putin and his proxies are busy making claims on other territories.

In September 2022, former President Dmitry Medvedev, an ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, warned that any weapons in Moscow’s arsenal, including strategic nuclear weapons, could be used to defend territories incorporated into Russia.
In September 2022, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said hat regions of Ukraine where widely-criticized referendums are being held will be under Moscow’s “full protection” if they are annexed, raising the prospect of the use of nuclear weapons if Kyiv tries to retake those territories.
In February 2023, Ramzan Kadyrov, a key ally of Putin, suggested that Russia should “denazify and demilitarize” Poland next after Ukraine.
In August 2023, Putin suggested that the Baltic states should become Russian protectorates.
In October 2023, an official in the Ukrainian region which Moscow claims to have annexed said Russia should try to take territory that was formerly part of the Russian Empire “through the might” of weapons. He also suggested that Russia should have its eye on the Baltic states, as well as Poland and Finland, all five of which are NATO countries

GROWING RISK OF NUCLEAR WAR

Putin has also steadily been preparing to use his nuclear weapons as a last resort. Here are eight specific actions he has taken so far in this regard.

In 2000, Putin signed the Federal Law on the State Policy of the Russian Federation in the Field of Nuclear Deterrence, which established the legal framework for the use of nuclear weapons
In 2007, Putin announced that Russia would suspend its participation in the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty, which limits the deployment of conventional military forces in Europe
In 2008, Russia and the United States signed the New START Treaty, which limits the number of deployed strategic nuclear warheads and delivery vehicles
In 2014, Putin signed a law suspending Russia’s participation in the Plutonium Management and Disposition Agreement, which aimed to dispose of weapons-grade plutonium
In 2018, Putin unveiled a new array of nuclear weapons, including a hypersonic missile, that he claimed could evade US missile defenses .
In 2019, Putin suspended Russia’s participation in the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) after the US withdrew from the treaty.
In 2022, Putin announced that Russia had developed a new hypersonic missile capable of evading US missile defenses .
On October 5, 2023, Putin claimed that Russia had successfully tested a nuclear-powered cruise missile and warned that lawmakers could revoke its ratification of a global nuclear test ban.
On November 2, 2023, Putin signed into law Russia withdrawing its ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT), a global treaty banning nuclear weapons tests. The move was condemned by the US and the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization. Putin revokes Russian ratification of global nuclear test ban treaty.

Putin is also scaring Western leaders. According to a report by LBC, Russian President Putin made a chilling reference to the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron in November 2022.[3] Putin is said to have alarmed Macron by suggesting that the 1945 atom bomb was proof “you don’t have to launch nuclear strike on a major city to win a war”. Diplomatic sources said that Putin’s remarks sounded like a very heavy hint that he might detonate a tactical nuclear weapon in the east of Ukraine, while leaving Kyiv intact.

Putin has also previously warned that if Western forces endangered the “integrity” of Russian territory then he would “certainly use all the means at our disposal”. Likely, this is because the Russian economy is far smaller than its western counterparts, and all it has is the threat of using nuclear weapons if it's resources are not up to the challenge, and it finds itself losing ground in a war it started.

ASTROLOGY OF THE COMING HALF YEAR

The transits and period influences in the SAMVA Russian Federation chart show grave difficulty for Russia in the coming year. Currently, the Ketu-Jupiter period is operating, with transit 6th lord Jupiter retrograde at 17° Aries and 10th house, under applying aspect from Rahu at 16° Sagittarius and 6th house. It is suggestive of conflict involving close neighbours, where Russia uses misinformation to achieve its goals. This aspect will reoccur in the Spring of 2024, but then with a host of other even more challenging aspects. Hence, the situation is expected to get even more difficult for Russia and, by default, its neighbours.

Any authentic horoscope of a nation suggests tendencies for the nation, specifically its leaders, to undertake certain actions that come with reactions. Spark That Lit The World

The Beatles last single "Now and Then" was released on 2 November 2023. It was fittingly accompanied by their first single "Love Me Do", originally released on 5 October 1962. These two songs are separated by over 6 decades, bookending a great catalogue of 188 original Beatles' songs, mostly written and recorded by them between1962 to 1969.

The event shows up in John Lennon's horoscope in a surprisingly vibrant way.

THE BEATLES' LAST HURRAH

The reworked song is preceded by a 12-minute documentary film “Now And Then – The Last Beatles Song”. It is about the story behind the reworking of Lennon's demo into a proper Beatles song. The film includes exclusive footage and commentary from Paul, Ringo, George, Sean Ono Lennon and Peter Jackson.

What is remarkable is that the final release will have a contribution of the two living members, Paul McCartney (81) and Ringo Starr (83), with a guitar lick recorded by the late George Harrison for the song in 1995, as well as with Giles Martin, son of their original producer George Martin, at the controls.

An earlier such transformation of songs by John Lennon happened in 1995, when George, Paul and Ringo collaborated in 1995 on the Beatles Anthology CDs and DVDs. John Lennon's original demo of Free As A Bird was low key, but became quite impressive in the Beatles rendition.

The earlier Beatles rendition involved a songwriting collaboration that was separated by three decades. It would have been impossible without Paul, as one of the songwriters present. His genius becomes apparent in blending new material seamlessly with John's original song that even manages to improve the original.

A shortcoming of that recording was that Lennon's vocal was accompanied by his piano playing in the demo. At that time, the two could not be separated without losing either part of the voice or the piano. In the future, also this song may be remastered with the same technology.

THE SONG

Here is John Lennon's original demo of Now And Then, recorded on a cassette recorder in his apartment in the Dakota building in 1979. As the film narrates, it took modern AI technology (machine learning), as developed by Peter Jackson for the Get Back documentary, to isolate and reconstruct Lennon's vocals. By itself, it became the foundation of the new song. Here is the long awaited Beatles' version.

LENNON'S LUCK

It is interesting to see how this event is reflected in John Lennon's 9° Aries rising chart. Even if he has passed on, his evolving energy remains among his friends, family and fans, who keep his memory and contribution alive.

Lennon's chart is in the Mercury - Jupiter period. It would be a lucky period, involving his friends. because in the chart, Saturn as 11th lord of friends is conjunct Jupiter as 9th lord of luck and preferment in Aries and the 1st house of Lennon's chart. This combination signifies that his personality attracted great friends. Paul McCartney has repeatedly expressed how lucky he was to know and work with these gifted gentlemen.

On the eve of the songs release, transit 11th lord Saturn is in Aquarius and the most effective point (MEP, +/- 5° from rising degree, where a planet has most influence) of his 11th house of friends, where it is in opposition aspect with Lennon's Venus as 7th lord of partners, in the MEP of the 5th house of creativity. Saturn has been in Lennon's 11th house MEP since earlier that year.

At the same time, transit Mars as 1st lord of self is in Libra and the 7th house in opposition to the above natal conjunction.

Transit 9th lord Jupiter has in recent months also been conjunct the natal duo, amplifying the luck.

Today, transit 5th lord Sun is also in the 7th house conjunct transit 1st lord Mars and opposite transit 9th lord Jupiter in the 1st house.

What an unusual combination for friendship, partnership, creativity and luck to resurrect John Lennon's voice.

Türkiye's modern political development has been marked by a transition from Ottoman rule to a secular republic under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's leadership in the 1920s. The country adopted a Western-oriented, secular constitution, embracing democratic principles. However, it faces significant challenges due to its unique geographic and cultural position, straddling both the Muslim world and the West. Key challenges include maintaining a balance between secularism and religious influences, managing its independence-striving Kurdish minority issue, navigating regional conflicts, and preserving democratic institutions in a politically polarized environment. Striking this balance remains essential for Turkey to fulfill its potential as a bridge between East and West.

As for its Western aspirations, it is a NATO member and an applicant for membership in the EU. Simultaneously, it is engaged in the affairs of the tumultuous Middle East, necessitating a delicate balance between its Western commitments and emerging Middle Eastern engagements.

A History That Stretches Into The Hoary Past

Over time, Türkiye has been shaped by a diverse array of cultures, religions, and political forces. It has existed under many names. Anatolia is one of the oldest names for the region, deriving from the Greek word "Anatole," meaning "east" or "sunrise." It has been used for millennia to refer to the Asian part of modern-day Türkiye. It was known in Greek and Roman times as Asia Minor. The name, also of Greek origin, was commonly used by ancient Greeks and Romans to describe the western part of Anatolia. It was also known as the Byzantine Empire during the Roman Empire. However, upon its division, the eastern half became the Byzantine Empire, with its capital in Byzantium, later known as Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul). It was also referred to as the Eastern Roman Empire due to its continuity with the Roman Empire. Following the conquest by the Ottoman Turks, who migrated to Anatolia in the 13th century, they established one of history's most powerful empires, the Ottoman Empire, encompassing Anatolia, Southeastern Europe, and the Middle East. Following the collapse of the Ottoman Empire after World War I, the region was briefly known as the Asia Minor Republic before the establishment of the modern entity, the Republic of Turkey. In 1923, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk founded the new entity, adopting the name the Republic of Turkey to emphasize the nation's new beginning, distinct from its imperial and Ottoman past. In 2022, the spelling of the name was changed from Turkey to Türkiye.

Horoscope for the New Nation

Turkey's Lausanne Conference delegation

In April 2017, a likely authentic horoscope for Türkiye was proposed by astrologer and author, Jayant Kalawar on SAMVA list on Groups Io. It has Virgo rising, an earthy, analytical and adaptable sign. The event he considered was the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne on July 24, 1923, in Lausanne, Switzerland.

This time precedes the founding of the secular republic, which happened on October 29 of that same year. Its importance lies in the act of constituting a new nation. The republican form of government, as embodied in a new constitution, is different. According to the late V. K. Choudhry, the preceptor of Systems' Approach astrologers, a new constitution is not as important as the founding of a nation, in terms of giving birth to the collective entity.

This treaty had momentous implications, as it officially ended the state of war between the Allied Powers and the Ottoman Empire, which had been ongoing since World War I. The treaty then redefined the borders of modern-day Turkey and established the boundaries of several neighboring countries. It also recognized the sovereignty of the new Republic of Turkey, led by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and marked the end of the Ottoman Empire.

Jayant Kalawar chose the time 11:30 a.m. giving 18° Virgo rising. However, further work relocating the event to the pre-capital city of Ankara, which is 2 hours ahead, resulted in adjusting the time to 11:15 a.m. there, to yield 25° Virgo rising. The range of possible ascending degrees is likely bookended by these degrees. Further observation is needed to clarify the exact degree. The 25° Virgo rising degree is easier, however, as it moves the nodes out of the MEP in malefic houses, which otherwise brings more serious problems under nodal period and transit duress.

The 25° Virgo rising chart suggests the final agreement on the Treaty was reached at 9:15 a.m. in Lausanne. There are reports that the chief representative of Türkiye in Lausanne, Ismet İnönü (center of front row in photo), telephoned Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in Ankara that morning to inform him of the signal event. In any event, a late Virgo rising chart has shown promise in prediction since.

2. Further, current transit Saturn is currently under:
- affliction by the 8th aspect of transit most malefic planet (MMP) Mars
and
- influence of 5th aspect of transit Rahu.

This indicates obstructions and confusions to the non-elite leadership represented by Saturn."

Authoritarian leader and weak currency

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is the President of Turkey since 2014. He is considered as something of an authoritarian ruler, by repressing his political opponents. As such, he also enjoys a strong position to push eclectic economic policies, such as keeping interest rates low for too long. Clearly, Erdogan was trying to engineer faster growth before the election in 2023, but reaped a rapid depreciation of the lira and horrendous inflation.

Fact: In the past 10 years, the Turkish lira has fallen from 0.5 lira to the dollar to 0.03 lira. In other words, in 2013 it took two lira to buy one US dollar. In 2023, the price has gone up to 33 lira!

In Systems' Approach astrology, the Sun and Moon become general indicators for currency strength. The Sun, in particular, signifies the power of the state and the leader. For Virgo ascending countries, 2nd lord Venus and 11th lord Moon are also important.

The Sun, as 12th lord of losses afflicts 1st lord Mercury in the 11th house of income and aspirations. Moreover, Saturn as 6th lord, is in the most effective point (MEP) of the 1st house. This gives an obstinacy of views. This is more so as Saturn afflicts 11th lord Moon in the 3rd house of enterprise, communication and transportation. Saturn also afflicts 2nd lord Venus in the MEP of the 10th house. This suggests Turkey has good and prominent status in world affairs, but that it is way too emphatic in its assertions.

Deadly 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake

"On 6 February 2023, at 04:17 TRT (01:17 UTC), a Mw 7.8 earthquake struck southern and central Turkey and northern and western Syria. The epicenter was 37 km west–northwest of Gaziantep. The earthquake had a maximum Mercalli intensity of XII (Extreme) around the epicenter and in Antakya. It was followed by a Mw 7.7 earthquake at 13:24. This earthquake was centered 95 km (59 mi) north-northeast from the first." There was widespread damage and almost sixty thousand people perished with twice that many injured."

There are numerous connections in the 25° Virgo rising chart for Turkey suggestive of this. First is the affliction of Ketu in the 6th house to 4th lord Jupiter in the 2nd house. Second, there is an affliction involving the 8th lord Mars to both 1st lord Mercury in the 11th house and 4th lord Jupiter in the 2nd house. So, both these conditions are satisfied in this chart.

The Saturn - Mercury period was operating at the time. Transit Ketu was conjunct 4th lord Jupiter in the 2nd house. Transit 2nd lord Venus was conjunct natal Ketu in the 6th house. Transit 8th lord Mars was in the 9th house from where it aspected natal Rahu in the 12th house and natal 11th lord Moon was in the 3rd house. Transit 12th lord Sun was afflicting the 5th, 11th house MEPs, as well as transit 11th lord Moon. Finally, transit 4th lord Jupiter was in the 7th house in aspect to natal 8th lord Mars in the 11th house. In short, the bases were loaded.

2016 Turkish coup d'état attempt

Another important event happened on July 15th, 2016, when a faction within the Turkish Armed Forces, organized as the Peace at Home Council, attempted a coup d'état against state institutions, including the government and president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. They attempted to seize control of several places in Ankara, Istanbul, Marmaris and elsewhere, such as the Asian side entrance of the Bosphorus Bridge, but failed to do so after forces loyal to the state defeated them. The Council cited an erosion of secularism, elimination of democratic rule,[ disregard for human rights, and Turkey's loss of credibility in the international arena as reasons for the coup. The government said the coup leaders were linked to the Gülen movement, which is designated as a terrorist organization by the Republic of Turkey and led by Fethullah Gülen, a Turkish businessman and scholar who lives in Pennsylvania. The Turkish government alleged that Gülen was behind the coup (which Gülen denied) and that the United States was harboring him. Events surrounding the coup attempt and the purges in its aftermath reflect a complex power struggle between Islamist elites in Turkey.

The Jupiter - Rahu period was operating. Rahu is an indicator of manipulation and deceit. Moreover, transit Rahu was conjunct natal Rahu in the 12th house -- the Rahu transit-to-natal return - one of the most painful aspects. Transit 6th lord Saturn was in the 3rd house in aspect to natal and transit Rahu in the 12th house. Tr 1st lord Mercury and transit 2nd lord Venus were conjunct 12th lord Sun in the 11th house. Transit 12th lord Sun was in old age in the 10th house. Finally, transit 6th lord Saturn was in the MEP of the 1st house, in aspect to natal 2nd lord Venus in the 10th house MEP.

Challenging period and transit combination ahead

In the late Spring or early Summer of 2024, the dual malefic period of Saturn - Ketu will be operating. This is difficult as Ketu afflicts Jupiter in the chart, suggesting setbacks for the borders or status of the country. This period is made more difficult as a number of malefic transit-to-natsl aspects are seen at that time that will be challenging for the country:

A transit nodal station will form over natal 6th lord Saturn in the 1st house MEP, with transit Ketu conjunct, suggesting conflict involving sudden, serious and explosive developments, that adversely impact the image of the country.
Transit 6th lord Saturn will become conjunct natal Ketu in the 6th house. This has much the same result, but is more focused on areas of conflict.

With triple such influences at work (including the period combination), a sudden explosive event associated with conflict should be regarded as very likely if this chart is indeed authentic.

Moreover, as 6th lord Saturn is involved, financial stability and health matters also become important. Meanwhile, Ketu's manifold aspects suggest a separative or isolating influence is involved. This time early next year offers a good predictive test of the authenticity of this chart.

Finally, around April 4th, the Sun, as 12th lord, and general indicator of the leader of the nation, will be in the 7th house, ruling foreign affairs, where it becomes conjunct transit stationary Rahu and opposite natal 6th lord Saturn. A few days later, transit 8th lord Mars will become conjunct Ketu and transit 6th lord Saturn in the 6th house. It is quite possible, in addition to the problems mentioned above, that there may also be change of government at that time.

Drama in the Congress

The USA was thrown into legislative turmoil with the Speaker of the House being voted out of office on October 3, 2023.

This outturn was not entirely surprising to Systems' Approach astrologers, as the following was predicted for the USA last year:

"From late July, 2023, transit 6th lord JUPITER becomes stationary around 20° Aries and the MEP of the 10th house until mid October 2023. This suggests a lot of conflict in the US Congress and government, especially after the [Moon/Rahu] period begins." [1]

SYSTEMS' APPROACH ASTROLOGY

In the SAMVA USA chart, the reasoning is that Mars is 10th lord and functional malefic (FM) Rahu is placed in the most effective point of the 10th house, which rules the Congress and government as per the Systems' Approach. In the chart these placements are described thus:

"A strong Mars, in mutual aspect with the Moon, gives Americans their identification with a strong military and industry. As Mars rules the 10th house, it also gives a robust and famous government and legal tradition. That said, the conjunction of Rahu with the most effective point of the 10th house, ruled by Mars, and Ketu to the 4th house of communal harmony, also contribute plenty of problems in this regard.

The placement of the lunar nodes, Rahu in Aries tenth house and and Ketu in Libra fourth house, has caused many tragedies and difficulties in the national life, involving upsets in the political sphere and the social calm. The influence of Rahu has repeatedly led to exposure of corruption in government and legislative affairs, disrupting the communal harmony."

To this we may add that as 6th lord, Jupiter rules conflict. In short, the stationary placement of Jupiter at 21° Aries visited conflict on the US Congress and government, which intensified in the second half of September.

Indeed, on September 21 2023, one member of the SAMVA list on Groups.Io asked:

"Wonder what may emerge out of very weak [transits] of Venus and Mars moving through aspects of stationing [transit] Rahu and Ketu between Oct 1st and 3rd. Jupiter will be weak as well."[2]

A lively discussion ensued about the likelihood of this transit triggering a government shutdown from October 1, 2023.

At the last moment, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy managed to strike a bi-partisan deal to keep the government open. At that point the prediction looked like it was off the mark.

However, this deal caught the leader of the Freedom Caucus, Matt Gaetz, off guard and he became infuriated, tabling a motion to "Vacate the Chair" two days later, on October 3, 2023. It was passed, with a minority of GOP members voting with the opposition party, the Democrats. This outcome has now catapulted the House of Representatives into leaderless chaos. What is more, Such an action is unprecedented in at least the past 100 years. [3]

ASTROLOGY OF THE EVENT

This dramatic outcome may be seen in three transits during the Moon/Rahu period, which began on Sept. 15, 2023:

- transit infant 10th lord Mars was conjunct tr stationary Ketu in the 4th house. This served as the trigger,
- transit 6th lord Jupiter was stationary conjunct 10H MEP and Rahu. This is the main aspect involving the political conflict, and
- transit stationary 8th lord Saturn in the 8th house aspected 10th lord Mars in the 5th house and 6th lord Jupiter in the 5Hth house. This added further weakness to the indications of the 10th house.

LESSON

A valuable lesson from this episode is that if the most effective point [MEP, +/- 5° from rising degree] of a given house is afflicted by a transit stationary functional malefic planet, it is important to examine the strength of or afflictions to the natal or transit planet ruling that house. If either or both become afflicted in transit, as was the case here, a setback is likely at that time.

Now the Congress must chose a new Speaker.

World of Imagination

In the 20° Cancer rising SAMVA USA chart, there are three planets placed in the secretive sign of Scorpio and the creative fifth house.

These planets are Jupiter, the 6th lord of conflict, Mars, the 10th lord of government and military, and Saturn, the 8th lord of death-like fears.

This preponderance of influences gives Americans a mighty resolve, plenty of courage, technical ability, military prowess, but also a transformative impulse focused in the fifth house of intelligence, creative imagination, young people, and moral sense. This is more so, as both Jupiter and Mars are in opposition aspect with 1st lord Moon, which is exalted in the practical sign of Taurus and the 11th house of incomes and ideals. This complex but pervasive part of their collective nature can be readily seen from their history, at all levels of the national life.

BIRTH OF THE ATOMIC AGE

After World War II, the so-called Cold War developed between the Soviet Union and the USA, creating a dividing line around the globe. It was accompanied by the development of massively lethal nuclear bombs in the USA, followed by the Soviet Union.

In fact, with the detonation of the first atomic device on July 16, 1945, in the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, the Atomic Age was born. Moreover, after Americans dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan, in early August 1945, a foreboding sense of death and destruction began to percolate into the public consciousness. However, it did not explode with death-like fear in American society until the Soviets harnessed the awesome power of the Hydrogen bomb on August 12, 1953. After that a palpable sense of fear of death permeated all sections of US society.

THE FLYING DISC CRAZE

Interestingly, this fearsome energy found expression in the culture.

America's lively imagination was provoked at the beginning of the Jupiter major period (1937-1953), when during Halloween in 1938, the famed actor, Orson Wells, directed a live theater edition of "The War of the Worlds" on American radio in New York City. The show became famous for giving an overly realistic portrayal of alien invasion that sparked panic along the east coast.

Almost a decade later, after the victorious conclusion of World War II, a veritable flying disc craze developed in the USA during the summer of 1947, with a rash of unidentified flying object reports. The craze began on June 24, when media nationwide reported civilian pilot Kenneth Arnold's story of witnessing disc-shaped objects which headline writers dubbed "Flying Saucers". Such reports quickly spread throughout the United States; historians would later chronicle at least 800 "copycat" reports in subsequent weeks, while other sources estimate the reports may have numbered in the thousands.

On July 7, 1947, the so-called Roswell incident took place on a farm by that name in Utah. It involved the recovery of metallic, plastic, tinfoil and rubber debris from a military balloon. The Roswell Army Air Field issued a press release, broadcast via wire transmission, announcing possession of a "flying disc". Amid the hundreds of reports nationwide of flying saucers, the following day "the Army retracted its release, but falsely stated the crashed object was merely a conventional "weather balloon", likely to hide its secret military purpose. The incident was forgotten until 1978, when retired lieutenant colonel Jesse Marcel suggested the 'weather balloon' had been a cover story to divert public attention from....its "extraterrestrial origins."

The fervent imagination at the time was thus linked to the work that began with the Trinity Project in 1943 to secretly develop a nuclear bomb. After the war, these secretive efforts became also focused on developing a delivery mechanism, whether it was a missile, airplane or some other device. Indeed, during the infancy of the nuclear age, the Soviet Union bragged about its ability to deliver nuclear weapons, even if their claims were far from credible. The US introduced its first military jet bomber, the B-45, into service in 1948. The areal tests were carried out over New Mexico and other sparsely populated states in the interior of the USA.

The related Space Age is considered to have begun with the Soviet launch of Sputnik 1 on October 4, 1957, which led to the Space Race. However, the USA began its rocket tests much earlier, after German rocket scientist Wernher von Braun was brought from Germany to the USA after WW II. The advent of missiles quickly entered the sci fi lore.

In any event, after the Saturn major period began in the SAMVA USA chart in April 1953, the heightened sense of danger was reflected in the vibrant cultural life of Americans.

On April 14, 1953, Paramount Pictures released the movie War of the Worlds to audiences in London, and on August 13, to audiences in New York. The movie is based on the 1898 story by English author H.G. Wells, adapted to the USA.* In any event, the plot of the movie revolves around Earth being suddenly invaded by Martians, whose alien technology allows them to unleash hell on humanity, and the frantic search by an American scientist for any weakness to stop them. SCI FI MOVIES TAKE OFF

In any event, all of these dramatic political and military developments certainly touched off the rich imagination of the American public and the movie industry did its best to cater to it.

True as that may be, such a stance tends to preclude any diplomatic dialogue with Russia, In the event, Biden has had few levers to pull to end Russia's invasion and restore peace to the people of Ukraine. As a result, the Biden administration has pushed for a hardening stance of NATO to support the Ukraine resistance, in order to repel Russia from the seized lands. In so doing, Biden has amplified the risk of nuclear war. The fears were greater after Putin bragged about his advanced delivery system, hypersonic missiles, which could deliver nuclear weapons to the USA within minutes.

Not surprisingly, the famous American film director Oliver Stone says he "regrets voting for Joe Biden in the 2020 election, warning that the president is dragging the country into a potential World War III with Russia."

Recently, there have been a few movies focused on the birth of the Atomic Age, notably Oppenheimer and Asteroid City. The latter film includes the lore of extraterrestrials. Moreover, there have also been hearings on UFOs in the US Congress, with imaginative whistle blowers, born decades after the original events, sharing their beliefs in aliens, to the joy of UFO fans everywhere.

ASTROLOGY OF SCIENCE FICTION

As in earlier decades, the productivity of human activity will rise and with it overall welfare, if the gains are evenly shared.

ACCURATE PREDICTION

In the April 2022 article, New Age of Progress, it was proposed that there might be some breakthrough for the mind. It was phrased as an "enhancement of mind" and it suggested the popular spread of meditiation.

While the introduction of AI is not the same as meditation, we now see that it may open up the scope for humanity to develop further its experience of life on a massive scale and for this meditation is indispensable. Humans can do things machines cannot and these things point the way to future schooling and development. Indeed, that seems to be the rational response to such a technological advance, that it creates scope to liberate human beings from cramming their heads full with knowledge and instead develop more their consciousness. Computers with AI can perform intellectual tasks better than humans. Instead, humans can focus on making their minds and bodies subservient to their sense of being, of being alive and in tune with the creation. As such their innate intelligence will flourish. If so, the prediction for an "enhancement of the mind" in the Moon period is coming true.

The Robots are Coming!

Especially, as external technologies grow, suppose robots start doing all the work you are doing now, what are human beings going to do? They are already talking about robots that will win the football world cup by 2050.

Your thoughts and emotions are also something that can be artificially created. Some time ago, some researchers set up a computer to test how people can have relationships with computers. Many people had a wonderful relationship with this computer over email, not knowing that it was a computer. And it was managing this with twenty lines of vocabulary.

Technology is moving in a direction where artificially, a computer will be able to think a million times better than human beings, because thought is fundamentally computing. Data is assimilated and then it comes out with something sensible from that. As computers evolve, a computer will be able to do this far better than a human being. This evolution is not even going to take a very long time. It will happen in a short time. Then there will be no value for human thought. All the thinkers will be out of business!

But that is only intelligence. That is not consciousness. Our thought, our emotion, these have nothing to do with consciousness. Once everything is well, what are human beings supposed to do? Human beings are supposed to be joyful, blissful and do something that no mechanical thing can do. A robot can do everything that you can do – except it cannot meditate because there is no consciousness. So, ultimately, only meditators will be employed!"

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak seems to be a rising star on the world stage. At the Munich Security Conference this week, he actively rallied European leaders to "double down" on their support for Ukraine in its fight against the invading Russian forces. He has also been heavily engaged in resolving the challenging issue of Northern Ireland and its relationship with the rest of the UK and the EU. This issue arose as a result of the 2016 BREXIT referendum and prior leaders have been unable to resolve it, but Mr. Sunak is reported to be close to reaching a deal with the EU, even if he is tempering expectations.

As background, we may recall that on July 7, 2022, Mr. Boris Johnson announced his decision to resign as Prime Minister and leader of the Conservative Party. This called for a leadership contest. Soon, two candidates, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak, emerged as front runners.

Walls are a human construct that separate people.

Israel built a wall to prevent Palestinians from continuing numerous bloody terror attacks on its citizens. In turn, the Palestinian's consider Israelis as trespassers, oppressors and usurpers of their native land.

Donald Trump built a wall to keep Mexicans and others from illegally entering the United States of America. His logic was that unregulated entry brings with it crime, drugs and economic chaos for American citizens living in border communities. Joe Biden opened the borders, in sympathy with the views of many American's that the wall on the Mexican-US border is anathema to their dream of a border-free world.

Before these walls, there was the Berlin Wall. Below, is an examination of its history and astrology.

History of the Berlin Wall

After the end of World War II in Europe, what remained of pre-war Germany west of the Oder-Neisse line was divided into four occupation zones (as per the Potsdam Agreement), each one controlled by one of the four occupying Allied powers: the United States, the United Kingdom, France and the Soviet Union. The capital of Berlin, as the seat of the Allied Control Council, was similarly subdivided into four sectors despite the city's location, which was fully within the Soviet zone.

Within two years, political divisions increased between the Soviets and the other occupying powers. These included the Soviets' refusal to agree to reconstruction plans making post-war Germany self-sufficient, and to a detailed accounting of industrial plants, goods and infrastructure—some of which had already been removed by the Soviets. France, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Benelux countries later met to combine the non-Soviet zones.

In 1948, during the multinational occupation of post–World War II Germany, the Soviet Union blocked the Western Allies' railway, road, and canal access to the sectors of Berlin under Western control. The Soviets offered to drop the blockade if the Western Allies withdrew the newly introduced Deutsche Mark from West Berlin. This has become known as the Berlin Blockade from 24 June 1948 to 12 May 1949. It was one of the first major international crises of the Cold War.

In response, the Western Allies organised the Berlin Airlift from 26 June 1948 to 30 September 1949 to carry supplies to the people of West Berlin, a difficult feat given the size of the city and the population.

This accelerated efforts of the USA and its allies to found a West German state, which culminated in the creation of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) at 5:03 pm on May 23, 1949 in Bonn.

The schism between the East and West only grew and on August 13, 1961 the Soviet rulers of East Germany began the construction of the Berlin Wall.

The Berlin Wall was a guarded 155 km long concrete barrier that encircled West Berlin from 1961 to 1989, separating it from East Berlin and East Germany (GDR). Construction of the Berlin Wall was commenced by the government of the GDR. It included guard towers placed along large concrete walls, accompanied by a wide area (later known as the "death strip") that contained anti-vehicle trenches, beds of nails and other defenses. The opening of the wall on November 9, 1989, became a symbol for the collapse of oppressive Soviet Communism in the Soviet Union and its satellite states in Eastern and Central Europe. The builders of the Wall sought to stem the growing exodus of people from the East to the West.

During the Wall's existence, there were two remarkable and positive events involving visits by US Presidents John F. Kennedy in 1963 and Ronald Reagan in 1987 to witness the wall and comment about it.

Astrologically, it is very fitting that the dual period of Ketu, the planet of separation, had begun to operate a few months earlier. The sign Leo falls in the 12th house, and its Moolatrikona lord, the Sun, also carries this influence.

All the slow moving functional malefic (FM) planets were being afflicted or afflicting. Transit 12th lord Sun was also conjunct transit 1st lord Mercury in the 11th house of alliances and goals, signifying the loss for the national identity of Germany resulting from this giant symbol of separation.

This is particularly strong evidence in favour of this horoscope for Germany, which the author rectified and presented on the SAMVA list on December 14, 2014.

A friend consoles

Following the resolution of the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, US President John F. Kennedy visited Berlin to protest the wall, which deprived East Germans of their freedom to visit or live with their family, friends and countrymen in the western part of the city. Kennedy's speech which became known as "Ich bin ein Berliner" (I, too, am a citizen of Berlin), was given at the Rathaus Schöneberg on 26 June 1963.

The Ketu/Moon period was operating. Natally, 11th lord Moon is in the most effective point (MEP) of the 7th house of others and foreign agreements. The Moon also aspects the 1st house of national identity. This suggests Germany enjoys significant influence globally, and it brings them satisfaction. The placement also suggests friends play a big role in the country's affairs, but also that its goals and aspirations motivate their foreign agreements and alliances.

Kennedy's visit inspired the people of Berlin, Germany and the West, seen in aspects indicating a burst of optimism, notably transit 4th lord Jupiter being conjunct natal 11th lord Moon and the MEP of the 7th house and transit 1st lord Mercury and transit 2nd lord Venus being conjunct 1st lord Mercury in the MEP of the 9th house.

However, there were also difficult transits such as the placement of transit 6th lord Saturn at 29° Capricorn and 5th house where it received an aspect from natal Ketu at 2° Libra and 2nd house. Transit Ketu in the 4th house MEP was also in aspect to 8th lord Mars in the MEP of the 8the house MEP. These aspects were fitting for the difficulty of the cold war, during Kennedy's visit.

A friend exhorts

Ronald Reagan´s speech came on the heels of his summit meeting with Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev in Reykjavik, Iceland in the prior year. In it he offered a challenge to Mr. Gorbachev to "Tear down this wall". The speech was given at the Brandenburg Gate on12 June 1987. Helping matters was that in 1985, Mr. Gorbachev had come to power in the USSR. He immediately set about to initiate reforms, called Perestroika (restructuring) and Glasnost (transparency), reflecting his commitment to change the Soviet Union and make it a less repressive and more humane system. In the event, he lost control of the changes he unleashed, resulting in breakdown of the Soviet Union from 1989 to 1991, terminated in the creation of the Russian Federation in December of 1991.

The Venus-Ketu period was operating, signifying the ongoing separation. Transit 6th lord Saturn was in the MEP of the 3rd house opposite to transit 12th lord Sun in the MEP of the 9th house. As such, these malefics were also afflicting 1st lord Mercury in the 9th house, signifying the tension involving outside influences involving the fortunes of the city. Transit 8th lord Mars was in the MEP of the 10th house, aspecting also the 1st, 4th and 5th houses. Obstacles and endings were being highlighted in the public mind. Transit Ketu was in the 1st house in aspect to 2nd lord Venus in the 9th house, there was tension involving relations with neighbouring countries.

Fall of the Wall and German Reunification

The fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989, during the Peaceful Revolution, was a pivotal event in world history which marked the destruction of the Berlin Wall and the figurative Iron Curtain and one of the series of events that started the fall of communism in Eastern and Central Europe, preceded by the Solidarity Movement in Poland. The fall of the inner German border took place shortly afterwards. An end to the Cold War was declared at the Malta Summit three weeks later and the German reunification took place in October the following year. The breeching of the Berlin Wall was followed immediately by efforts to demolish it.

The Sun-Jupiter period was operating. Natally, 4th lord Jupiter is in the 5th house, suggesting an inherent interest in managing situations, linked to the homeland. On this day, transit 4th lord Jupiter was in the 10th house, signifying the prominence of the homeland. It was in opposition to transit 6th lord Saturn in the 4th house, involving a victory in a long standing land dispute. Transit 2nd lord Venus was conjunct 12th lord Sun in the 9th house and transit 12th lord Sun was conjunct 1st lord Mercury in the 9th house. These aspects were separating, suggesting the tension was fading.

Conclusion

The horoscope for the Federal Republic of Germany does a magnificent job of explaining these events in the country's history, raising confidence in it. Predictions for the USA in 2023

For two and a half centuries, the USA has been an unusually dynamic national entity with much influence in the world. It is guided by admirable ideals about individual human freedom, but which coexist with pathologies that have entailed the suffering of large sub-sections of its society. These characteristics are clearly visible in the 20° Cancer rising SAMVA USA chart.

The struggle to improve the conditions of those disaffected has been there for the world to see, including the American Revolutionary War when the colonists freed themselves from restrictive British rule in the 1770s, the repercussions to the Trail of Tears of native American indians in the 1830s, the US Civil War and the abolition of slavery in the 1850s, the repulsion towards the Jim Crow laws that segregated the newly freed blacks in the South in the 1870s, the Populist movement to curb the excesses of the 'Robber barons' in the 1890s, the Progressive Era to spread the prosperity among ordinary Americans in the 1900s, the rebuilding of the economy and creation of new jobs based on a greater role for the federal government in the Great Depression of the 1930s, the fight for the cause of freedom in the face of the rise of totalitarian fascism around the world in WW II of the 1940s, the civil rights battles and victories for blacks in the 1960s, the rise of the 99 percent in the 2010s and Trumpian revolution to reclaim prosperity for the middle class in 2016, and the fight over open borders to ensure that America remains a nation that welcomes immigrants fleeing poverty and persecution, but also that protects its own citizens from the associated drugs, crime and human trafficking in the 2020s.

MOON AS LORD OF IDENTITY

In an sense, the USA has a rather unique national identity among the nations of the world. Fittingly, the statement

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses …”

is inscribed on a plaque on the Statue of Liberty pedestal.

In 1944, Gunnar Myrdal, a Swedish economist, referred to the American Creed in his study of race relations. He suggested the creed was a

"collection of ideals that include the rule of law, equality, freedom, hard work, and individualism."

In 1984, the UN suggested the Statue of Liberty evokes

"ideals such as liberty, peace, human rights, abolition of slavery, democracy and opportunity."

In the 2020s, the evolving demographics of the nation (see graph) demand an ever greater recognition of the values and aspirations of the growing non-white population of the USA, with a greater diversity in religious or atheistic outlooks, in terms of an ever greater freedom for personal expression.

As described in the 2007 article introducing this authentic national chart for the USA:

CHALLENGES AND SUCCESSES

In the fall of 2022, as predicted, there have been numerous exposures of such manipulations in terms of the Twitter files and then there has been an intense clash over the open borders policy, involving human trafficking and the smuggling of deadly Fentanyl. Indeed, by exposing the truth, the US has a hope that it's future remains bright.

In any event, through all of its upheavals, American prosperity has steamed onwards and upwards, as shown in this figure, but more so during the periods of strong and functional benefic planets, like the Sun, ruling the 2nd house of wealth in the 7th house of foreign affairs, and Moon, ruling the 1st house of self placed in the 11th house of income.

With population growth and technical progress, the natural environment has been infringed upon. However, this has resulted in corrective forces being gradually awakened and in needed changes being implemented. Pollution abatement, nature preservation and the ongoing shift from Internal Combustion Engines to Electric Vehicles are cases in point.

MOON PERIOD

As explained above, the most significant feature of the Cancer rising chart is the placement of its ruler, the Moon, as 1st lord in the 11th house of ideals, alliances and income.

For the third time in its history, the Moon period is running in the SAMVA USA chart, from April 16, 2022 to April 16, 2032. Given the many constructive influences on the Moon and its 1st house, we may expect significant progress for the masses, involving the laws and governance.

The sub- periods, however, carry an additional important trend influence in 2023, including:

Moon-Moon: April 16, 2022 – February 14, 2023. Strong focus on indications of Moon.
Moon-Mars: February 14, 2023- September 15, 2023. Strong focus on indications of Mars.
Moon-Rahu: September 15, 2023 – March 16, 2025. Strong focus on indications of Rahu.

Moon is 1st lord in 11th house and Mars is 10th lord in 5th house. Both planets aspect one another, boosting each others indications, a fame giving aspect. Moreover, as they are strong and well placed as functional benefic planets in the SAMVA USA chart, their influence is powerfully positive, unless adverse transits upset the good going. In the Rahu period, however, problems may be expected, as natal Rahu afflicts the houses owned by 10th lord Mars, 2nd lord Sun and 6th lord Jupiter. Moreover, transit contacts involving FM Rahu will take place from the summer of 2023.

As before, we look to the transits of the slow-moving FMs in the SAMVA USA chart, 6th lord Jupiter, 8th lord Saturn, FM Rahu and FM Ketu.[1]

JUPITER

"For Cancerians Jupiter's Moolatrikona sign, Sagittarius, falls in their sixth house and Jupiter, as 6th lord, becomes a functional malefic planet for them.

As 6th lord, Jupiter rules

"public amity, relations with neighbors, general health of the public, political stability, financial solvency of the nation, management of debts, litigations, judicial functioning, communal harmony in the country and labor relations."

Natal Jupiter is strong and well placed in Scorpio and the 5th house of the SAMVA USA chart. As such it supports the management of the health and financial position. However, malefic transit influences can adversely affect its indications.

Jupiter begins the year 2023 at 7° Pisces and 9th house. It will move forward with normal speed until it enters Aries and 10th house on April 23, 2023, where it will stay until May 2, 2024.

While in Pisces and 9th house, JUPITER is generally considered strong and well placed. As the 9th house rules the Supreme Court, its transit there in early 2023 is therefore likely to see court decisions that are generally respected. Interestingly, in April 2022 two astrological developments took place: transit Jupiter entered the 9th house and the important Moon major period began. A few weeks later the decision to strike down Roe v. Wade was leaked, causing a great deal of national controversy. After the decision was made, a grudging acceptance was gradually observed.
After 6th lord JUPITER moves into Aries and 10th house in the early summer of 2023, an increased energy of conflict is to be expected in public affairs. Moreover, the strength of 10th lord MARS, the dispositor of Jupiter, in transit becomes important for the strength of transit Jupiter there. This is doubly so, as the Moon-Mars period runs from mid February to mid September 2023. Transit 10th lord Mars will be weak from mid March to end June 2023, which is adverse for industrial production, notably the automotive sector as well as the legislature, government military and police.

Transit 10th lord Mars becomes badly placed and weak in Gemini and the 12th house from March 13th until May 11th. During this time, the affairs of the US Congress, the government, the military and police, as well as foreign trade, become vulnerable to losses. Moreover, in early April transit transit 10th lord Mars will come under the aspect of transit stationary Ketu at 10 °Libra and 4th house. Further, in mid April, it comes under the aspect of natal Ketu in Libra and the 4th house MEP. These disturbing transit influences may result in some sudden adverse events for the indications of Mars. Those events are also expected to adversely affect transit Jupiter at that time. Unfortunately, transit Jupiter will become conjunct transit Rahu from May 13 to June 20, while receiving an aspect from transit 8th lord Saturn from May 25 to July 15.
Transit 10th lord Mars will become debilitated and weak in the sign of Cancer and 1st house from May 11th until June 30th. Transit Jupiter will become equally weak at that time, even if well placed in the 10th house. This suggests fierce political conflict in the Congress at that time. The expansionary power of the US economy, especially in terms of bank lending, may become reduced at this time.

This is more so as transit 6th lord Jupiter in mid Aries will receive a close aspect from transit 8th lord SATURN in the 8th house from May 25 to July 15, 2023. This is a violence inducing aspect, and could be associated with obstacles and endings. A prominent personality, ruled by Jupiter, possibly in Congress or government, may leave the scene.
The above factors become more problematic still as transit Jupiter will also become conjunct retrograde transit RAHU from mid May until mid June. This aspect suggest confusion or manipulation involving conflict and health matters. Problems with illicit drugs and even legal intoxicants could become more noticeable. This aspect becomes exact at 9° Aries on June 2, 2023. The aspect adds an energy of manipulation to the difficult Saturn aspect to Jupiter.
From late July, 2023, transit 6th lord JUPITER becomes stationary around 20° Aries and the MEP of the 10th house until mid October 2023. This suggests a lot of conflict in the US Congress and government, especially after the Mo/Ra period begins. Financial problems involving foreign trade are also possible. Transit Jupiter will go retrograde on September 10, 2023 at 21° until January 2024, when it stations at 11° Aries and 10th house.
Related to the above transit of Jupiter, it will become conjunct natal RAHU at 18° Aries from July 11 to July 26 and again in the second half of October. Moreover, during the latter, transit 6th lord Jupiter becomes opposite transit 10th lord Mars and transit 3rd lord Mercury on top of natal Ketu on October 29, 2023. This suggests a controversy over the long standing manipulations of corporations in Congress and the US government will undermine the communal harmony. Possibly, the government and/or Congress will try to more meaningfully address the issue of illegal immigrants at that time, but with significant push back from the political opposition.

SATURN

Saturn enters Aquarius on January 18, 2023, and stays there until March 29, 2025.

As 8th lord, Saturn rules

"beliefs of the masses, red-tape actions, speed of execution of works, easy gains, delays and obstructions, accidents, fatal accidents, epidemics, gold and precious stones, legacies, capital gains, floods, earthquakes, cyclones, storms, etc."

As 8th lord, Saturn is the most malefic planet in the 20° Cancer rising SAMVA USA chart. However, the transit of Saturn in Aquarius, its Moolatrikona sign, makes Saturn strong, even if badly placed in the 8th house. At the same time, this is a somber placement, lacking the flair of e.g. Saturn in Leo.

Saturn earlier transited this sign from

February 1905 to April 1907, a boom in "Trusts" leads to a financial crisis in fall of 1907,
February 1934 to July 1937, the US economy is stabilised in the middle of the Great Depression,
January 1964 to April 1966, first phase of the Vietnam War with growing loss of US lives,
March 1993 to February 1996, Bill Clinton is President and US economy struggles to gain momentum.

Importantly, transit Saturn will move out of the seventh house, which promises relief for US foreign policy, international agreements and the leisure industry.

A change of signs by a slow moving planet is usually attended by some events that signify the associated change in national conditions.

On January 27, 2017, transit 8th lord Saturn entered Sagittarius and 6th house of conflict and illness. Establishment-hostile President Trump was sworn in, followed by increasingly hostile media coverage of him and his administration.
On January 25, 2020, transit 8th lord Saturn entered Capricorn and 7th house. The Covid pandemic and the impeachment trial of President Trump a few days from that date.

The transit of Saturn in Aquarius and the 8th house, into its own Moolatrikona sign and the 8th house is generally seen as good. When unafflicting or unafflicted it is indicative of easy gains and legitimacy, help from unexpected sources, protection from sudden reversals or relief from difficult situations. We may thus expect some event of that nature to take place in the third week of January. The labour movements in the USA may become stronger than they have been, making demands to raise wages and improve working conditions. Mining for oil and other resources may become more rewarding.

In 2023, Saturn’s stations will not be in the MEP, and will therefore not afflict other houses. However, such placements are seen in 2024, when transit Saturn will spend most of the year around 20°-23° Aquarius, or in the MEP of the 8th house, thereby aspecting and causing prolonged issues for public affairs (10th house), status and relations with neighbouring countries (2nd house) and the management, creativity and young people (5th house).

With Saturn's entry into Aquarius, it remains weak in infancy for around one month that is up to the middle of February, 2023. This may be seen as a transition phase from the conditions of the past few years and what to expect in the coming year.
During 2023 transit 8th lord Saturn reaches its peak of 13° 01’ Aquarius and the 8th house. It then retrogrades on June 18, 2023.
From March 27 to April 30, 2023, transit 8th lord Saturn in 8th house receives a close aspect from transit stationary FM Ketu in the 4th house. At that time, sudden difficulties may occur with respect to obstacles and endings. At the same time, transit 8th lord Saturn will aspect transit stationary Rahu at 10° Aries and 10th house, suggesting obstacles and endings due to manipulations in the public sphere. These aspects peak in mid April.
From mid May to end July, 2023, transit 8th lord Saturn will station around 12° 30’ Aquarius and 8th house. It aspects sub-period lord 10th lord Mars at 10° Scorpio and 5th house, suggesting tensions for the government involving the management of the labour force. Union strikes are possible at this time.
From early October to end November, 2023, transit 8th lord Saturn will be stationary around 6° 30’ degrees Aquarius and 8th house. From there transit 8th lord Saturn aspects natal 6th lord Jupiter at 4° 25' Scorpio and 5th house, a violence inducing aspect, which could see setbacks for young people or children. In this placement, transit Saturn favours 6° Leo rising Donald Trump but is difficult for 10° Scorpio rising Joe Biden.

RAHU & KETU

Transit Rahu remains in Aries and 10th house and transit Ketu in Libra and 4th house until November 28, 2023, when they pass, respectively, into 30° Pisces and 30° Virgo. The transit in the 9th and 3rd houses respectively, suggest disturbances to the indications of those houses, notably transportation and communication and the courts, but more so when transit Rahu in the 9th house aspect 8th lord Saturn at 27° Scorpio and 5th house as the year ends

Transit Rahu will station twice during the year, at 10° Aries from early March until early June 2023, and at 1° Aries from end August until end November 2023. In neither case do the nodes afflict natal planets or the MEPs of the SAMVA USA chart. However, they do afflict other transit FMs as noted above. Moreover, when the transit 2nd lord Sun passes over the stationary nodes has usually been accompanied by difficulty for the US President. The days in question are April 23 to 25 and October 17 to 19. The latter date is more extreme as transit 2nd lord Sun will be in abject weakness due to extreme infancy and being in its sign of debilitation.

Transit Ketu will station in the same degrees and periods in the sign of Libra and 4th house during the year, with the influences described above.

Sadly for women, 1° Gemini rising Kamala Harris, Vice President, who will be running Ra/Ke period in 2023, will likely have a very difficult time in the fall of 2023. She may not continue on the Democrat ticket heading into 2024.

SUMMARY

The USA is at a cross roads. Befitting the Moon major period from April 2022, there are forces that seek to make the country more tolerant and compassionate towards marginal communities but also illegal immigrants. The open border policy of the Biden administration is an expression of this sentiment. Moreover, this is in line with the traditional identity of the USA, as a caring nation. At the same time, there are those who feel that ordinary Americans have for too long been sidelined from the prosperity in the country. MAGA Republicans want to close the border and put Americans first. These opposing positions will likely be reconciled before this major period ends.

The transits suggest temporary difficulties in the summer but more so in the fall, after the Moon-Rahu period begins. The public sector will likely see its share of conflict and confusion in the coming year. While the financial sector is not likely to flourish in 2023, the conditions facing labour are expected to improve, but also to be associated with problems, including how to deal with all the undocumented immigrant workers. Crony capitalism, the nexus of big money and politics, may become a target of a revitalised labour movement.

Perhaps the most famous Gemini ascendant of all is Dr. Albert Einstein. After 1970, his condition slowly improved, allowing him to return to academic work by the mid-1980s. His struggles with his illness and his recovery became the basis for Sylvia Nasar's biographical book A Beautiful Mind in 1998, as well as a film of the same name directed by Ron Howard, in which Nash was portrayed by New Zealand Australian actor Russell Crowe. Schwarzenegger won the amateur Mr. Universe title at age 20 and subsequently won the professional Mr. Olympia title at age 23, winning the title an astounding seven times. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time, and has written many books and articles about bodybuilding.

He then went on to gain worldwide fame as a Hollywood action star, with numerous box-office hits including Conan the Barbarian (1982), The Terminator (1984) and Predator (1987).

On 26 April 1986, he married Maria Shriver, a niece of President John F. Kennedy, in 1986, having four children together.

On October 7, 2003, Schwarzenegger was first elected Governor of California. In 2011, at the age of 64, he reached his term limit as governor and returned to acting. However, he does not have seen the same box office appeal as before, even if his popularity seems undiminished.

In May of 2011, after he admitted to having fathered a fifth child with their housemaid in 1997, Maria Shriver announced their separation. Their divorce was finalized in 2021.

Rise to fame

A defining moment in Arnold Schwarzenegger's body building career was the Mr. Olympia 1970 competition on 3 October 1970 at New York city's Town Hall. It was titled as The Arnold & Sergio Rematch. Arnold had challenged the reigning champion, Sergio Oliva, the year before and lost.

At the event, Arnold is described as having come out "strong as ever," but having improved his physique and posing technique. Meanwhile, "a less than ideal Sergio lost the spotlight."

A less well known Gemini, but important none-the-less, is Vinod Kumar Choudhry. As propounder of the Systems' Approach to Vedic Astrology, Mr Choudhry became famous in the world of horoscopic astrology, by infusing it will much needed clarity and efficacy.

Mr. Choudhry was born and raised in Gurugram, India. He obtained the Bachelor’s degree in arts from Punjab University and the MBA from Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. His son, Krishan Rajesh Chaudhary, similarly educated, has contributed meaningfully to this body of work over the years.

Mr. Choudhry joined a spiritual organization in childhood with his father at the age of 10, whose aim was to spread the teachings of Ramayana for peace, spiritual attainment and universal brotherhood.

In the mid 1980s, when Mr. Choudhry began exploring the world of astrology, while holding a managerial position in the export sector, he found that because of the confusions, contradictions and inconsistencies in numerous classical principles many scholars were exploring various techniques, with mixed results. His motivation to enter the field astrology was to eradicate the existence of such confusions and contradictions, and to create a systematic approach for interpreting horoscopes and present the findings to all lovers of astrology. A crisis is likely in the fall

1) "THE CRISIS THAT COULD UNFOLD WOULD therefore be expected to REVERBRATE THROUGH THE NATIONAL GOVERNMENT, foreign trade, the national legislature, and communal harmony, WITH A FEAR INDUCING EFFECT.

2) Some manipulation is likely to come to light, that generates a CRISIS MARKED BY PANIC OR FEAR.

3) In early October, transit 8th lord Saturn in the 7th house MEP will become exactly conjunct 2nd lord Sun in the 7th house MEP, adding PRESSURE FOR THE PRESIDENT, asset prices and the US dollar. This challenging time will last until mid November."

These predictions have now been realised to a stunningly accurate extent. The link is to the fear that the planet Saturn produces as lord of the eighth house of death. In fact, when the Saturn major period in the SAMVA USA chart began, the threat of nuclear war was never greater, as described in the article Saturn and the fear of death in 1953. It is this fear that was  reawakened in recent months. 2) Stocks fell sharply from mid August to mid October as the US dollar strengthened. Then stocks recovered as the dollar fell in value. In November, the crypto world went into panic over the collapse of a large exchange, with the price of Bitcoin dropping from $22K to $16K.

"However, the transits also suggest significant financial problems are on the horizon for Americans and the world in 2022, especially in the fall."

3) In October, President Joe Biden came under significant pressure as predicted. The opposition criticised him for pushing NATO on Russia's doorstep, not doing enough to prevent the possibility of a nuclear catastrophe, given Putin's insane threats, and then scaring the public with intemperate remarks. As is normally the case, the real pressure for Biden was likely felt behind the scenes.

UK: Accurate Prediction

On October 20, 2022, Liz Truss resigned as UK prime minister in a statement outside Downing Street.

This turn of events had been accurately predicted based the 16° Virgo rising horoscope for the United Kingdom using the Systems' Approach to Mundane Vedic Astrology on the SAMVA discussion list.

On July 5, 2022, Thor (Cosmologer) wrote under the subject heading of "UK: Crisis in the fall"

"..., it looks likely that the heavy transit afflictions involving 12L Sun in 4H MEP in the fall MAY CREATE A CRISIS FOR THE PM THAT WILL BE HARD TO SURVIVE."

The following was also predicted on July 23, 2022:

"Looking at the UK chart on Sept. 5, 2022, the selection of the new PM will likely be accompanied by a surge of optimism. However, the bonhomie will likely be short lived as LATER THAT MONTH SERIOUS PROBLEMS ARE LIKELY TO DESCEND as tr Rahu goes stationary in 8H MEP in exact aspect to 12L Sun in 4H MEP and tr 6L Sat becomes stationary conjunct 2L Venus in 5H."

In the event, on September 23, 2022, Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng announced the biggest raft of tax cuts for half of century. Ms Truss and Mr. Kwarteng were of one mind on this budget plan. It strongly evoked the memory of Margaret Thatcher. Nonetheless, the financial markets immediately went into turmoil, as they realised that this plan might create funding problems for HM Treasury. On October 13, 2022, Liz Truss told Parliament she was not going to change the mini-budget. On the following day, she relented and sacked Mr. Kwarteng. She hoped that would stem the bleeding. Jeremy Hunt was then brought in to replace him. Mr. Hunt did a u-turn from the previous budget, calming the waters a bit. However, by then Ms. Truss had lost the confidence of her Party, with the predicted result.

It was also observed, based on a speculative horoscope for Liz Truss on July 23, 2022:

"[Liz Truss] seems to have adopted an "Iron Lady" persona but may lack the personal magnetism of Libra rising Margaret Thatcher to convincingly pull it off."

Further on July 3, 2022, Cosmologer wrote on the subject of "Crisis in the fall"

In sum, this is another case of an accurate prediction being based on the trusted method the Systems' Approach and a national horoscope that has been tested with historical cases and earlier accurate predictions.

USA goes big

The USA has a long history of devoting its massive resources abroad, to its own benefit but also that of others.

Joe Biden has now announced the spending of a massive 200 billion US dollars on an infrastructure project to counter China's infrastructure project abroad.

As Biden explained at the G-7 meeting in Austria yesterday:

"This isn’t a charity. It’s an investment that will deliver returns for everyone, including the American people, the people of all our nations. It will boost all of our economies, and give a chance for us to share our positive vision for the future," Biden said. "To let communities around the world see for themselves the concrete benefits of partnering with democracies, because when democracies demonstrate what we could do, all that we have to offer, I have no doubt that will win the competition every time."

Moreover, today it has been announced that NATO will dramatically increase forces on high alert in NATO countries on Russia's border to over 300,000 from 40,000 amid the Russia threat. Around one-third of these is US armed forces.

This demonstrates again, during the onset of the Moon period, what was written about the SAMVA USA chart in Dec. 2007:
