ThinkZebra Apparel for the element of surprise

The name of the brand is, as you may have guessed, inspired by the saying “When you hear hooves, think horses not zebras”. But that is as far as the resemblance between the two goes, because the owners will do anything but make you think of “plain” . In this case, the obvious is never the answer and your expectations will constantly will be outdone by their style, quality, price and artistic involvement.

ThinkZebras is an independent UK based streetwear brand with a desire to prove that you can deliver all of the above while getting involved in and dedicated to good music, art, design and specifically the underground UK music scene. They feature top quality content from favourite acts including hip-hop, dubstep, graffiti, videos, music, interviews and much more to keep you close to the brand and quality arts.

The designs are very original and are meant to catch the eye because of the clean execution, cool typography and iconic symbols. For best quality you would expect quite the price, but they have t-shirts for £20, tank tops for £18 and sweaters for £27. The awesome varsity jacket is the most expensive and that retails at £50 and I can say I found a lot of t-shirt lines asking close to that for a t-shirt, so everything is pretty affordable, considering that they are all screen printed.

ThinkZebra have teamed up in February with Wordplay Magazine to bring this 3 colour collaboration tee, both companies based heavily in the UK Hip Hop scene, combining vivid colours and bold graphics with a slight graffiti edge.

Michael, from WearViral, sent us an email to let us know that he’s just launched a brand new shirt-a-day website, called Quoted Tee. It has typography t-shirts with funny or inspirational quotes. I know what you might think – another daily t-shirt site. But do not jump to conclusions since Michael is very aware of the Teefury or RIPT style and, instead, he will feature only typographic designs and avoid the pop-culture t-shirts.

Threadless winner of Monsters Inc challenge

The Threadless challenge was to create a t-shirt inspired by the scarers and scarees of Monsters, Inc. So, the competitors could get inspired bu the furry-faced Sulley, Mike Wazowski’s one googly eye, or cute as a button toddler Boo to create a t-shirt that will be the talk of Monstropolis.

Now, the winner has been picked and the design is crazy-cute, adorable, as usual very wearable and overflowing with imagination.

This week Gimmick Tees have a cute Tardis vs. Dalek Chibi limited edition t-shirt designs available to order this week only. It is sort of a make-right to the artist whose artwork was stolen and used by another person’s design that was submitted to them last week and that they almost ran with credits to this other person, claiming to have made it. Feeling that they owed the original artists the favor of printing his original design, they are running it this week and hopefully it will draw attention to people who plagiarize and trigger the community to sanction them.

They also have a really clever homage to the insanely awesome cult-classic horror film Re-Animator starring Jeffrey Combs and based on the H. P. Lovecraft story “Herbert West–Reanimator”.
