In the Design By Humans newsletter they included a picture of Will Ferrell wearing one of their more campy tees with a tree taking candy from a baby. Congrats DBH for the exposure! Congrats to the T Addict for being Quick Draw McGraw!

Mash Kulture Celebratin’ the Dirty Third

Mash Kulture is celebrating its 3rd Anniversary they are aptly calling their Dirty Third. What better way to celebrate their dirty third than by creating a t-shirt featuring “the shocker” err…..I mean…. a hand showing the number 3.

It is a collaboration with Tyra Clothing and they will be sold at a monster party they are throwing on October 29th in celebration. Mash Kulture is a pretty dope site featuring street wear and they came up with a super slick tee to commemorate their anniversary. The T Addict is getting some ideas….

The Sleight of Hare by Fuzzy Ink

The T Addict loves a good design that makes you look a little closer to see exactly whats going on. You know what else the T Addict likes? A good double entendre. I think we have a little bit of both going on here. This t-shirt design, called Sleight of Hare, is brought to us by Fuzzy Ink. They are known for featuring mustaches in their designs and this one is no different.

However, this design features more than just hair, it also features a hare. And the magician doing the trick may have had the fast one pulled on him. Have I confused you enough? Take a look at their newest shirt and it will all make sense:

The Grafitee Blog Tee

It’s only fair that we show a little T Addict love to the t-shirt blogging gangsta in France called Grafitee. Not only does Grafitee bring the European slant on t-shirt news and current trends, but they also dropped their own t-shirt. It’s a pretty slick design too!

If only the T Addict could read French, I could tell you more about it. I am good at reading images though, so here goes:

Complex Drops Their Top 100 Tees of the 2000’s

Here is a heads up on a pretty cool list if you are into streetwear. Complex just dropped their list of Top 100 T-shirts in the 2000’s. They have done this before with the Top 100 Albums,Top 100 Sneakers, Top 100 Movies and a few others. The T Addict didn’t alert you guys about those lists before because The T Addict doesn’t write about those subjects. Makes sense doesn’t it?

One reason you might want to pay attention to the list a little further is because Marc Ecko purchased Complex not too long ago. And as many of you may already know, Marc got his start being a graffiti artist in New York. He started tagging his own tees, and the rest is history. Check it out by clicking on the image below:

Johnny Cupcakes Makes the Inc. 500

In case you hadn’t noticed until now like the T Addict, Johnny Cupcakes made the Inc. 500 list. That list is the fastest growing private companies based on their revenue growth in the past 3 years. The T Addict noticed in the magazine and went to the website to get more info to share with my fellow addicts. As I was searching the website, I happened to stumble across an in-depth article about Johnny Earle by Inc. from earlier in the year.

Here are some crib notes: they have 30 employees, did 3.8 million in 2008, and started in 2001. For the rest you will have to go to the article to read. It’s a great read, especially when you know the hustle Johnny put in from the back of his trunk in the beginning.

Johnny Cupcakes X Ferris Bueller

Johnny Cupcakes done did it again. They took a reference to an old school movie classic and made it their own. This time it was with Ferris Bueller Day’s Off and the “Save Ferris” campaign. This time the remix calls for saving Johnny.

And in related news, the T Addict recently read a funny graph illustrating the relevancy of Ferris Bueller to high school students over the years. Apparently, the guy is timeless and stays cool. Let’s hope Johnny can do the same….

Shirtfight Changes and The T Addict Applauds

Shirtfight is changing and for a very interesting reason. They recently announced they were changing their business model as well as announcing what the new concept will be. You really need to go to their blog post to feel the sincerity of their reasons. Essentially, they don’t feel like they’re fostering the growth of artists in the way they had envisioned in the beginning.

This is probably the first time I have heard this argument coming from a business owner(s) and not the designer. T-shirt design contests have been popping up left and right and I think we can all agree that the market has reached saturation. However, no one forces a designer to submit his work. It’s a great open forum to receive criticism, praise, and possibly some financial gain. These sites have served as a springboard for quite a few designers that have now become very familiar names within the t-shirt design community. A few wins at sites like Threadless or Design By Humans can guarantee you a few easy layup wins at the smaller sites.

With all of that said, the reason why the T Addict loves the idea to change for Shirtfight is simple. It’s time for change. It is time for new t-shirt sites to quit copying Design by Humans and Threadless and start figuring out ways to capitalize on all of the overlooked artwork that deserves printing. Shirtfight might have just found it’s way.
