Back in 2004, we decided we needed a nice set of table and chairs. We weren’t seriously looking, but happened to come across a lovely set from Pottery Barn. Since we both liked it, we purchased it without much hesitation. Lovely as it may be, it never really received much use because we’re not a formal dining type of couple. We’re a sit in front of the TV and eat dinner type of couple to be exact.

Fast forward several years later, and we actually started using our table because our current place severely lacks counter space. We abused it so much that white clouds started popping up all over the table. The white spots are from moisture being trapped in the finish. This is just a small sampling of the white water spots.

It was upsetting because I thought we had basically thrown away our money on this stupid, overpriced table. Well, before I had declared it a total loss, I did some research on the internet and found a possible solution. I’d give you the link, but since this occurred a few weeks ago, I can’t seem to find it again. Basically, the site said if you take a heated iron and a towel, and iron over the spot, it disappears. I was skeptical, but we didn’t have much to lose at this point.

I started to iron with the towel and it didn’t have much effect. In fact, it didn’t do anything. I started using the steam element built into the iron and that didn’t really seem to do anything either. Finally, Adam took away the towel and just started ironing and steaming directly over the water spots. Amazingly, the spots disappeared.

I wish I had pictures of the entire table with before and after shots. It’s pretty amazing. Most of the spots are gone, and my table looks presentable again. If we ever have to deal with this again, I would use a much thinner towel when steaming. Running the iron over the table left some damage to the finish in a few places. Granted, those spots are much less noticeable compared to the old white spots.

J9 sent me a link to “My Fat Cat” photo by Annie Imboden over at Neatorama. The cat’s girth makes me slightly envious, but then I have to remind myself that I shouldn’t be so greedy when it comes to fat cats.

Yes, we regulate his food, but I think he’s endearing so I don’t care if you think he’s fat. So take that.

Finally:

ROWR. I was perusing ohnotheydidnt with Adam by my side. He was horrified, yet deeply amused by Sherri Shepherd’s scariness/retardedness (never voted before, had to think about if the world was flat, etc.) WTF is wrong with Barbara Walters?? How could she let this dimwit on The View?? At least it makes reading her stupidity on the blogs fun, and every time Adam looks at this picture it makes him laugh.

Send me links and I’ll post them.

I don’t really know much about it other than it’s a 1990 BMW 325is that’s been turned into a race car, it doesn’t have any seats, and it looks like the German flag. This wasn’t his ideal look, but I guess the deal was too good to pass up.

So, yes, it’s official, we’re now outnumbered by our vehicles. I hear it also needs a tow truck and a trailer. I fear this is only the beginning.
