Registration form here

Make plans to come join us on the hill used to test the very first motor car, uhh, horseless carriage, manufactured in America, the Duryea. It is a steep hill with many turns. The first cars that actually made it to the top made news. Then it became a test track for the Duryea and today it is the road to the Pagoda where the visitor has a spectacular 30 mile view and home of the Pennsylvania Hillclimb Association’s Pagoda and Duryea Hillclimbs.

The SUNBEAM will be the featured marque for the Pagoda Hillclimb this year.

And it is about time. Local racer Merlin Miller, who drives a Sunbeam Tiger has been breaking class and hill records for years. The BASH is being held at the Pagoda Hillclimb to honor Merlin’s accomplishments, coerce him to join TEAE and provide the usual BASH family fun experience. BASH headquarters is at the start line. Attendees with Sunbeams will display their vehicles at the Start line both days.

The finish line is just below the Pagoda with the turn around being set up at the Pagoda. Shuttle buses are available on the course which will drop you off at well pruned, safe, and accessible viewing areas (some with bleachers) to improve spectator access and enjoyment.

Did you know factory outlets started in Reading, PA?

Shuttle buses will be available for shopping at the huge Vanity Fair Factory Outlets (VF Outlets) with stores for guys and gals. This is the mother of all outlet malls. Literally. Check out their store directory.

BASH Agenda: June 23½ and 24

Why 23 ½ ?? It has been a tradition for the BASH to have an evening activity for overnight guests. Come early and visit the VF outlets, the Hillclimb, attend the Drivers/Workers dinner and socialize with Merlin and other driver/workers. We’ll be here for you.

Both Days

Sunday, June 3, 2012 – Rain or Shine
Harkness Memorial State Park
Waterford, Connecticut

The Connecticut MG Club proudly announces plans for its 25th annual show and gathering of British marque vehicles, BRITISH BY THE SEA

The 2012 show will take place on SUNDAY, June 3rd at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Connecticut. More than 350 vehicles are expected to be on display and competing for prizes in 32 classes. Such famous British Marques as MG, Triumph, Lotus, TVR, Rover, Morgan, Sunbeam, Austin Healey, Cooper, Rolls Royce and Jaguar will be on display. British trucks and motorcycles will also be included in the gathering.

Participants come from throughout New England and the Mid-Atlantic states to take part in this popular gathering on the beautiful Harkness Park grounds, which are located right on Long Island Sound. There is no admission charge for visitors to see the field full of fabled beautiful LBCs (Little British Cars) cars on display; however, there is a parking fee collected by the State Park. Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy the park’s scenic facilities. Food and auto related product vendors will be present at the show. This year the auto products vendors will be located on the main field near the cars on display and there will be additional food vendors to provide more variety and reduce waiting time.

British By The Sea is held “rain or shine.”

The featured Marque for British by the Sea this year is the MGB chrome bumper roadster, in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the first “B”. A special prize will be awarded to the best MGB Chrome Bumper Roadster at the show.

The chrome bumper MGB, a small two seater sports car, was produced by the MG Cars Corporation, later British Leyland, from 1962 to 1974. The MGB roadster replaced the MGA with a monocoque structure instead of the traditional body on frame construction and a modern design. Three distinct versions, a Mark I, Mark II, Mark III were produced, each including a number of improvements/modifications, were made through mid 1974. In the second half of 1974, the design was changed to meet US impact regulations and the chrome bumper was replaced with a steel reinforced black rubber bumper. The “Rubber Bumper” MGBs were produced through 1980, but suffered from lowered performance which resulted in US emissions control regulations. The majority of MGBs produced throughout their production run were exported to the US.

Car enthusiasts who wish to enter a British marque car or vehicle may obtain additional information and registration materials from the show’s co-chairpersons, Annie and Steve Wincze via email at: MGTD52@comcast.net, or via phone at (860) 693-4249.

The Connecticut MG Club has approximately 280 members from throughout Connecticut, with a few members from neighboring states. The club meets monthly at Farrells’s Restaurant on Route 66 in Portland on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM. Regional groups in Fairfield, Torrington, Hartford, Middlesex and New London also hold meetings and conduct events during the year. Additional information on the club and British By The Sea, as well as pictures from prior years, may be found at the club’s website: www.ctmgclub.com

Historic Columbia Speedway
Cayce, SC

This will be our 6th year of gathering British Cars here for our local club. From year one we have had a great turn-out of Sunbeams due to the great Sunbeam owners/friends in our area. Well, we’re gonna do it again! Get ready because it is the first big show of 2012 in our area and the first big bang for Sunbeam owners.

The date is new! March 31st, 2012
The location is new! Columbia Motor Speedway
The environment is new! Tied in with Columbia’s Scottish Games Festival

Last year we had around 20 Sunbeams gather here with us. We are shooting for 25 this year! I challenge each of you that have those “winter” projects to get to work and be ready for this early gathering of Sunbeam friends.

For those who have attended the fall event in the past, we have changed the venue slightly in that Saturday’s activities will centered around the Boothbay Region.

Maine Road Trip

We will include a visit to the Boothbay Railroad Village with their outstanding collection of Railway memorabilia as well as an interesting collection of antique automobiles. On Sunday we will once again participate in the Owls Head Transportation Museum’s annual Foreign Auto Festival & Antique Aeroplane Show .
12 Noon Until Dark
Back Creek Farm, Pasadena, MD

Download the directions and registration form here.

It’s Crab Feast time again! The Chesapeake Region’s annual gathering this year marks the 30th anniversary of combining Sunbeams and those icons of the bay, steamed crabs, for an afternoon of fun, sun and camaraderie.

Again this year, the Feast will be held at the Calvert family farm. The property overlooks Bodkin Creek, which flows into the Chesapeake Bay at its junction with the Patapsco River. Download the directions and registration form here.

There’s lots of space for cars, people and pets. The event is on – rain or shine. The new harvest rules for Chesapeake Bay crabs seem to be working. We are seeing large numbers of juvenile crabs. Prospects for a good supply of crabs are excellent. However, please provide an email address, just in case.

In addition to the steamed crabs, we’ll have catered pit beef, ham and turkey, beer and sodas. Please plan to bring a side dish or dessert to complement the meal. Additional lawn chairs are welcome.

Because of the cost involved in planning an event of this size, please make definite reservations by sending in the coupon on the form with a check by August 28, 2010. Thanks for your prompt reply. (All instructions are on the form)
