Spencer Tunick @ 368 Casey Neistat

On a cool Sunday morning in October in a quiet alley in downtown Manhattan two artists collaborated to make some interesting art. Spencer Tunick - http://www.spencertunick.com/ has been making his photographic art for decades. He uses the human body to instill thought and beauty into the scenery he carefully crafts from different vantage points and a unique vision.
On this early morning we were heading to the studio art space where Casey Neistat - https://www.youtube.com/user/caseyneistat/featured YouTube sensation, artist and creator of all things fun and adventurous has an art space available to make and create.
Spencer has legions of people willing to come down and pose nude in public for his projects and on this morning he made three creations - alley - 368 and in Casey's studio where he does his vlog recording. This is some of the behind the scenes as I watched them work along with Omar Z Robles a Fujifilm X Photographer and amazing dance and art photographer - https://www.omarzrobles.com/ who was working with Spencer that morning.
You can see the work happen in the alley - then move to a creative shot in 368 Studio and then we moved to Casey's office - a famous landmark on Broadway where troves of people stakeout daily to get a glimpse of his comings and goings. For the real scenes see Spencer's IG and Casey's vlog post -

Spencer uses a mixture of film and digital. You can see the double Contax film cameras on the tripod and in this shoot the Fujifilm X-H1 and XF8-16mm was used for the tight space in the Studio. It turned out to be an amazing vantage point!

It's not hard to miss a great shot when it's a beautiful summer day, you're using a favorite new camera and lens and your camera is set to capture in Velvia film simulation!

A Pagani opened up for all to see!

The Bridge is an amazing place. Situated at the topographical highpoint of eastern long island the club is built on an area once used for a race track in Bridgehampton. On the approx 500 acres they now have an exclusive club https://www.bridgeorama.com/ where the annual car and
art show happens in early September.
I shot all the images with the FUJIFILM X Series camera
and lenses.

How many Porsches? Hard to count them all lined up!

This white special edition Aston Martin was one of my favorites!

What does it feel like to wear this watch ? I tell ya - like a million bucks! Since that is what it costs!

Around the third hole is an installation by Tom Sachs who is a world famous contemporary artist who built an amazing space dome which many people were enjoying inside and out.
He is also well known for his collaborations with Nike and the Mars Yard 2.0 sneaker.

Taking a Ride Above NYC - FLYNYON

One of the great experiences in the area is to shoot NYC from above. So many great angles to see and a wonder to take it all in. I went with https://www.flynyon.com/ and they were great and friendly.

With an XF50-140 and XF16-55 I pretty much had it all covered and these are just a few of the 100 shots I have to edit. Shot with Fujifilm X-T2 and X-H1.

Funeral of FDNY Capt. Christopher “Tripp” Zanetis

Today on a rainy day there was an emotional and thought provoking gathering of thousands of Fire and Police to observe the funeral of Capt. Zanetis. In a procession lined by the FDNY his casket traveled down Fifth Ave to Washington Square Park where the ceremony was held. He was killed in a helicopter accident in Iraq serving in the Air National Guard.

Fujifilm X-A5 Fun Shots Around Town

There is a new compact on the streets - the Fujifilm X-A5. With a super compact new power zoom lens - the camera may seem like something to pass over - but after a few days with it I realized the powerful feature set makes it a nice contender at $599.
The image quality is great and the lens is sharp edge to edge at both ends of the zoom. Some quick pics from around town including a couple selfies since the camera has a flip up LCD for easy shooting.

The new instax SQ10 is a hybrid instant digital camera. You are able to shoot digital images and choose which you'd like to print manually or have the camera set to Auto print mode. The new square instax prints are 2.4" square, The camera also has advanced features such as exposure compensation - vignette adjustments - and various filter modes to make printing results creative and fun.

New Fujifilm Instax NYC Edition v1 & v2

There is an exciting new instax mini film being released this month to limited dealers in the USA. The Fujifilm instax mini NYC Edition films are here to coincide with the exciting Wonder Photo Shop launch at 176 Fifth Ave NY NY in the heart of the city in the Flatiron area.

The frame designs of the film come in two versions which you can see here. I've made the prints using the SP2. The SP2 is a great accessory/printer any photographer should have for personal work, sharing and especially travel. Print direct from your X Series (check models capable) camera or smartphone.

Fujifilm X Series Batteries NP-W126 & NP-W126S

There is a lot of excitement - rightfully so - around the launch of the Fujifilm X-T2. The camera is packed full of amazing new features never before seen in the X Series. As usual I'm not really looking to do a review or analysis - but try to add a nugget of info about the camera and perhaps some clarification where I see conversations happening.

One of those areas discussed is the new battery NP-W126S. This battery is physically the same as the current NP-W126 and will offer no additional performance improvements in any of the X cameras. It was designed to handle the higher temperatures generated by the X-T2 when it operates in some of its high speed functions and/or 4K video. The "new" S battery has an orange circle dot versus the current square seen on the batteries.

In addition - keen observers will see that the current X Series cameras have three battery contacts and the X-T2 has four. This is to work with the new cell in the 126S which withstands the higher temps. The batteries are interchangeable for the power booster and the 126S is fine to use in any X camera. To summarize - the NP-W126S is NOT a power boosting battery - the Power Booster VPB-XT2 has that function.

One of the new hot features on the X-T2 is the flip out vertical LCD - versus the standard flip the X-t1 has.

Focal Lengths from 10mm to 560mm aka 15mm to 840mm

I'm really digging what I can do with the not so heavy XF100-400 lens around town. The lens is pretty versatile from grabbing birds in flight to shooting flowers as I showed in the previous post highlighting the lens.
This series is a range from XF10mm in the first one then XF16mm all the up to the end of the XF100-400 at various focal lengths. Going out to a for reaching 560mm which starts to have issues with general air pollution and haze.
The 560 is reached with the 400mm and the 1.4xTC - so an X focal length of 560mm or converted to conventional 35mm this would be equal to approximately 840mm. There is a street sign sort of lower left of center which I zoom in on as we look at the high power view.

Here is 400mm - and then below 560mm. I need to do this again with a more interesting subject.
