"The Fed's favorite inflation indicator" actually came in a little cooler than expected today. Not that it helped much but at least it didn't hurt as badly as CPI and PPI did last week. So we've got that going for us, I guess.

It turns out that this is a good day for an earlier-than-usual podcast as Aug26 Comex gold is testing its 200-day MA and threatening to close below that important technical level for the first time since October 17, 2023. Ooof! Double ooof!

In the order of events, today was the first day we needed to put behind us...Jun26 gold option expiration. Next up is contract "expiration" on Thursday and First Notice Day on Friday. Which means that, by early next week, total Comex gold open interest will be completely washed out and back to the multi-decade lows levels of early April.

And why does that matter? Because CDG rallied...

Let's see....here's how it goes. Trump tweets on Saturday that a peace deal is near. PMs rally on the news. But there is no actual peace deal. PMs fall on the news. At least, if anything, all of my concerns regarding a weekend resumption of outright war failed to materialize. So there's that.

The back-and-forth of headlines continues today. One minute, there's optimism regarding a peace process. One minute, there's not. But the stonk market keeps rallying so who cares, anyway?

The good news is that prices were up overnight and onto the Comex. The bad news is that I'm a dumdum and I messed up my X account this morning.

It was another lousy day as higher interest rates...both nominal and real...weighed heavily upon the precious metal sector. And with the GDX closing below its 200-day MA for the first time in 16 months, there is growing concern that a trip down to, and possible of, the 200-day MAs in CDG and CDS may be forthcoming.

On top of that, it's almost unbelievable and sort of remarkable that...

As mentioned in the Monday podcast, I'm celebrating the 28th birthday of LT#1 today. I'll be a little busy this morning so let's start the day with something I wrote yesterday.
