Tuesday begins with some carryover from Monday but the week has a long way to go and plenty of minefields to navigate. Here are some items to consider this morning.

Let's start with price. Both CDG and CDS fell early last evening but they managed to bottom in London and have now rallied (can you believe that?) in New York.

A full new week is underway and it begins on an uptick as Friday's gains are rolled into Monday. This leaves CDG up about 1% with CDS up 2% but, of course, that hardly mattered to the shares which fell, regardless.

To say that the first half of 2026 didn't turn out quite as expected would be the understatement of the year. We forecasted a lot of things when we wrote the 2026 macrocast but hot war between the U.S. and Iran was not one of them...and yet, that war has thus far proven to be the most consequential event of 2026.

Here in the U.S., it's a holiday week. The 250th anniversary of the signing of our Declaration of Independence looms for next Saturday and we'll close our markets on Friday in order to celebrate. This makes the week shorter but action-packed so buckle in and let's get going.
