Given the geopolitical storm of last weekend, given the fact that the yield curve shifted higher by 15 basis points this week, given a 75¢ rally in the POSX and given the growing speculation that the FOMC might jack rates next Wednesday....it's quite astonishing that the PMs were able to rally this week. Small victories are about all we can ask for at this point.

And so...GREEN...

It's another Wartime Friday and, after a small rally overnight, it appears that PM prices are headed back down on Comex. If anything, it's not as bad as yesterday...at least not yet.

Additionally, we're still UP on the week. Considering the geopolitics of last weekend and now the potential conflagration of this weekend, that prices are actually GREEN on the week at this point is...

Soaring crude, higher nominal rates, higher real rates, increasing rate hike odds and a rallying POSX all combined today to deflate the nascent rally we'd begun in the PMs. So now what happens next?

My concern is that many signs point toward some significant military action this weekend and, as we've seen since March, pre-weekend nervousness usually manifests into Friday PM dumping....

Crude Back Above $90

Crude has surged back above $90 today and that, along with everything that comes with it, has proven too much to bear for the Comex PMs. Bonds continue to sell off and the POSX is rallying. All of which was OK yesterday but it's definitely not OK today.

Today's rally in crude is not directly attributable to any one event. Instead, it seems to reflect a situation that continues to...

If you listened to the Monday podcast, then you know that we were very interested to see how things would trade today, especially in the absence of any market-moving news. I'm pleased to report that we got our answer and, for once, it was positive!

Of course, one day does not a new trend make and things might just reverse back down tomorrow. But who knows? Maybe things will be better...

If it wasn't for a resumption of hot war on Iran, this week would be shaping up as mid-summer doldrums. Why? Next week brings the July FOMC and the "quiet period" means that there are no Goons scheduled. Additionally, there's hardly any economic data scheduled. As such, we are all slaves to the headlines and none of them look too positive as the week begins.

It's another Wartime Friday and the selling pressure is across the board today as the Korean Liquidations continue and the Iran War worsens. So far, CDG is holding support just below $4000 while CDS has finally taken the plunge down to $54-55. So, what happens next? Let's just say that next week might get very, very interesting.

Comex PM prices continue to languish today as all rally attempts this week have been sold. And now today brings further selling which has brought prices into the important support ranges that we've been monitoring for the past month.

As a reminder and benchmark, my current belief is:

CDG bottoms near $4000 but likely not lower than $3900
CDS bottoms near $54
