I finish up the three piece series on Emily Davis today, and in tomorrows “The Anatomy Of Construction; Music is my radar,” I focus on Mark Trentwith, a comedian with an incredible style, and a long carefully crafted walk to a punch line. “Mark Trentwith; Danger” was the best show, that I’ve seen this Fringe, by far. Mark is exceedingly well prepared, capable, and professional with a stage presence that fought over the dull roar of the air conditioning and the people with their idiot hum at the back of the room. He’s a brave comedian who uses a different delivery to form his show. All this aside, meeting and interviewing Mark was a pleasure, he is professional, courteous and a straight up gentleman.

As the pages roll out for “The Anatomy of Construction; The Second Draft” I can see it’s taking on an almost Taoist tone, with the hints of my father’s voice as he consoled me in times of trouble. I’m developing the visual component of the pages, but it takes a long time, it’s funny the way your drawing style will change rapidly if you don’t draw often; it makes me respect the manga artists more and more.

In Today’s “How to do Anything” I start to explain how to break big dreams up into simple steps. I’m a great believer in what I call the six P’s- Preparation and Planning Prevent Piss Poor Performance, if only on the basis that it allows you to see things how they are, not how you imagine them. Our minds, as often as not, can imagine simple things to be so difficult as to name them impossible.

We’ve had weather in the high thirties, low forties for the last week, and it’s gotten to the point of ridiculous- this heat is driving me into a dull stupidity- you can’t hear people speak, words come in short bursts and anyone not knowing what you’re experiencing would think you were really angry. No, not angry, just red hot, and conserving what little energy I have left. And now I find myself, by degrees of exhaustion, called to my sleepless bed.

You can see the review, the second in a three part series on Emily Davis on “The Anatomy Of Construction; Music is my Radar”

Yes, proud- let me know what you think, just as Leafless has done.

It’s funny that in this heat that leaves on wanting to do nothing I encourage you to plan, develop and create your future, but that’s just what I do in today’s “The Antomy Of Construction; How to Do Anything“Today is all about goal setting for a balanced and fulfilling life, and I’d be curious to hear your stories about how setting goals has changed your life.

Today, in “The Anatomy Of Construction, how to do anything,” you’re pushed a little further along the road to achieving your dreams, or asked, “Is this something you really want to do?”

I’m a simple kind of guy, and regard myself as fortunate, in that things are black and white for me. You pass, you fail, it’s good, or it’s bad, you do something, or you don’t. I’ve found this to be a blessing. It’s allowed me to achieve things that others find difficult and left me with happily high goals in life. If it weren’t for this black and white attitude, I couldn’t work on these blogs like I do; it’d be easier to stick with talking about it, and telling people stories why I couldn’t.

Well, it’s busy times afoot- this marks the launch of The Anatomy of Construction series- yes, a series. Some of you may know my current blog, The Anatomy of Construction, a blog I created as a way of learning about blogging and a whimsical way of communicating the things you really need to know about writing that no one will tell you. Not because they’re secrets, but because they are things you learn and come to feel about writing after many years of practice.

Writing isn’t my only passion though, and The Anatomy Of Construction veered dangerously into other subjects. Music. Self Help. Zen, and my personal life. Often times I’ve been left feeling as though I treated a subject lightly, and would have loved to have explored it further. That’s what this ring is about.

“The Anatomy Of Construction; how to do anything” is the self-help blog in the ring. There’s nothing esoteric about it. it doesn’t chew your ear for hours with ideas, it gives you a simple thing to do, every day, that will help your life become exactly what you wish it to become. If you’re after life changing results, with simple, easy to do steps, this blog will become a great tool for you. Not a reference, not a string of ideas, a set of tools, practical, real and useable.

“The Anatomy of Construction; Music is my radar” is all about the music. The venues, the bands, the artists behind things that happen, in Adelaide. I believe if you’re not supporting your local music, you don’t like the local bands, money talks, bullshit walks in other words.

“The Anatomy Of Construction; The Notional affairs desk” is the editorial, the core page, you can get to any of the other blogs from there, and it allows me to talk about what’s going on in my world, and the day to day issues I have running the blog ring. You’re at The Notional Affairs desk already.

There will be others added soon. The first I plan is “The Anatomy of Construction; Adelaide”, a blog about Adelaide, the city in whose beating heart I live, followed shortly by “The Anatomy Of Construction; Living and breathing” a blog devoted to philosophy. Perhaps, most exciting for those who know my previous work, is “The Anatomy of Construction; The second draft” which is just as the name suggests, a second draft of “The Anatomy of Construction” now with 100% less typos, and proof read before posting. This is the draft of the text component of the final product, which is to be a strange mix of Graphic novel and inspirational writing on writing.

I welcome any feedback you might have, any suggestions, or any comments, and hope you enjoy “The Anatomy Of Construction” series.
