If you've been following this blog since its inception (which, if you have, sorry for not really posting consistently for the past year or so) you know of my affinity for pro wrestling. So naturally I had to post this video of legendary pro wrestling broadcaster Jim Ross sitting on on commentary during the Oklahoma City Thunder game Tuesday night against the Blazers.

Ross, a native of Oklahoma and a huge Sooners fan, was there to promote WWE's appearance in OKC in February and celebrate his 60th birthday. He spoke briefly about the rumor of Shaq wrestling at this year's WrestleMania and discussed some wrestling topics, as well as his time as an athlete.

Kevin Harlan has had some very notable calls over the course of his broadcasting career, especially the "With no regard for human life" call of LeBron James' slam dunk over Kevin Garnett in the 2007 NBA Playoffs. Last night he dropped another gem during the Lakers-Jazz broadcast.

Miam Heat season intro video is a fashion show

Below is the clip of the Miami Heat intro video for this season, backed by the Kanye West song, "All of the Lights."

Everyone in the video looks like they want to be Kanye West. Was the idea to cram as many polo shirts and scarfs into this video as humanly possible? Is that why Shane Battier is wearing three polos?

Regardless, the Heat look like they won't have any early season doldrums like last year, and this video will just be another thing for haters to reference. Plus, this video isn't as seizure-inducing as the actual "All of the Lights" video, even if the fashion sense is questionable.

Sources: Knicks claim PG Jeremy Lin off waivers

Sources report that the Knicks have claimed 23-year-old Harvard graduate Jeremy Lin off waivers. New York badly needed to add some guard depth after the Christmas Day injury to rookie Iman Shumpert. Baron Davis is likely out until February and old-as-stone Mike Bibby is also nursing his usual aches and pains.

Lin doesn't have terrific career stats in his short time in the NBA but has a lot of upside and will provide the Knicks with another body while they wait for the rest of their roster to get healthy. Lin received a lot of attention after his 2010 Summer League duel with John Wall, which you can watch below.

Lou Williams averts robbery, takes mugger to dinner

You may have heard about Lou Williams, guard of the Philadelphia 76ers, almost being robbed at gunpoint on Christmas Eve, only for the robber to realize who he was and not rob him because of what Williams does for the Philly community. That, in itself, is an interesting story.

It gets better, though, as Williams offered to take the man out for a bite to eat. From Bob Cooney of the Philadelphia Daily News:

"A guy tried to rob me but decided not to because of whatever I do in the community," said Williams before the game last night. "He's a Lou Williams fan so he didn't rob me."

Williams said he was driving in his car when the man approached, knocked on the driver's window and had a gun drawn.

"There's crime everywhere," said Williams. "I was debating whether to pull off or help the guy. The gun was already out. He did all the talking and we came up with a solution before I could really say much. I treated him to McDonald's."

After turning that close call into a good situation, Williams dropped 25 points in Philly's season opener Monday night.

The Marlins are pushing all their chips to the middle of the table

The ~~Florida~~ Miami Marlins are the big talk of MLB free agency right now. The team has been heavily linked to Jose Reyes, with some even saying it's almost a done deal, and are apparently meeting with Albert Pujols this weekend. Jorge Sedano of 790-AM in South Florida is reporting that the team is also inquiring about the availability of A's starter Gio Gonzalez. Marlins brass has also talked with free agent pitcher Mark Buehrle.

It makes sense that the team wants to go big. The Fish debut a new stadium, manager, logo and uniforms in 2012. The complicated task of filling a ballpark every night with competition from the many other things to do in Miami is a tall order, so the team will have to spend more than they have in the past on payroll.

It sounds like the team is ready to finally do that, but will it help? From a competitive standpoint the Marlins will obviously be better if they add players like Reyes, Pujols or Buerhle to a team that already features Hanley Ramirez, Logan Morrison, Josh Johnson and Mike Stanton.

As we've seen with the Miami Heat, though, it doesn't guarantee interest from the fans. Even when the Marlins have been good in the past, the fans haven't come out in throngs to support them.

They have to hope all of that changes with a new stadium and some fresh, exciting players. Jose Reyes, when healthy, certainly fits that bill. Pujols, however unlikely, would obviously make a difference.

You can't argue with the strategy. Go big or go home, as they say.

I know, I know. Entourage is the same old thing week after week. First, the boys are up and everything's great, then they're down but somehow it all works out. Season after season, episode after episode. But I like it. Shoot me.

This season has certainly been a little dull but Sunday's seventh episode featured guest appearances by Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez, Michael Strahan, and Amar'e Stoudemire, so it only feels right to post the clip here.

ABC released the cast list for the upcoming season of 'Dancing With The Stars' tonight with Ron Artest and Hope Solo the two professional athletes joining the mix. Unless you want to count David Arquette, who held the WCW Heavyweight Championship. (Thanks Vince Russo.) He's more well known for being horrible in every movie he's ever been in, though.

Chaz Bono, the son/daughter of Sonny and Cher also joins the cast, as well as everyone's least favorite television personality, Nancy Grace.

The 13th season of the show premieres Monday, September 19th at 8:00pm on ABC.

You know the drill by now. I go on a writing frenzy, then I take about three months off, and on and on it goes.

And here I am again.

My laptop had been on the fritz for a few months and I finally got around to getting a new one tonight, which seemed like a great time to get back to blogging and also a lame but well-timed excuse for why I've been out of action for a while.

So stick around if you wish, and hopefully I'll make it worth your while. Worst case scenario, you'll have a rarely updated webpage clogging up your bookmarks. Best case scenario, we all have fun.

We're back after about a month of (yet another) hiatus and things are changing. I'd like to say I was preparing for the last month for this change, but really I was just playing lots of videogames, taking naps and eating too much. As you may have noticed from the different header, we're expanding our horizons a little bit. We'll still be focusing a lot on sports but also on entertainment and anything I find blogworthy. Broncos fire head coach Josh McDaniels

Josh McDaniels' short tenure as head coach of the Denver Broncos was tumultuous to say the least. That tenure ended today as the team decided to relieve the 34-year-old of his duties.

Upon his arrival, McDaniels traded Jay Cutler, once thought of as the next John Elway. After starting his coaching career with six straight victories, things headed south along with the team's record. He butted heads with Brandon Marshall, who was eventually traded.

He acquired Brady Quinn for Peyton Hillis, who has more rushing yards this season than the entire Broncos attack combined. He drafted Demaryius Thomas ahead of Dez Bryant and then took Tim Tebow in the first round.

The draft picks aren't all his fault, of course, but it's easy to see why it was time to let McDaniels go. He went 5-17 as a head coach following Denver's 6-0 start last season and, while Denver's problems go well beyond the coach, someone had to take the fall.

Olney: Diamondbacks trade Mark Reynolds to Orioles

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Diamondbacks have traded Mark Reynolds to the Orioles for minor league pitchers David Hernandez and Kam Mickolio.

Reynolds is a strikeout machine, averaging 221 per season in his four-year career, but his power will be a welcomed addition to the Baltimore lineup, joining Brian Roberts, Adam Jones, Nick Markakis and Matt Wieters.

Jayson Werth signs with... the Nationals?!

We'll call this the first surprise of MLB's Winter Meetings, which haven't even officially started yet.

Jayson Werth, who peaked the interest of the Red Sox and Yankees, has agreed to a seven-year deal with the Washington Nationals. With Adam Dunn signing with the White Sox last week, Washington needed to replace his power in the middle of the lineup.

For Werth, though, this is a questionable move. Leaving one perennial contender - while also turning down presumed offers from other perennial contenders - to sign with a team like the Nats is a bit of a head scratcher. But with Ryan Zimmerman locked up and loads of young talent on the horizon, Werth is hoping to be a cornerstone of a potentially solid franchise.

That, and the other offers likely weren't as good.

Video: Rudy Gay wins it for Grizzlies at the buzzer

After just having the ball stolen from him, which allowed the Heat to tie the game with 5.5 seconds left, Rudy Gay nailed a game-winner while guarded by LeBron James. It was the first buzzer beater of the 2010-2011 season.

After the game, Gay was quoted as saying, "I don't care if James Naismith was guarding me, which would be scary because he's dead... I really don't care who's guarding me to be honest with you."
