If your weekend needs a little more laughter (and maybe a superhero or two), we’ve got you covered.

This week brings a mix of fan favorites and something brand new spinning onto the stage 👀

🎉 FRIDAY NIGHT

7:30 PM – Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed
Our house team is back doing what they do best—fast, funny, and completely made up on the spot.

9:00 PM – Carousel: UNCENSORED (17+) – DEBUT!
This is where things get very interesting.

Carousel is our newest show, where improv innovations take the stage and tomorrow’s House Teams are born.

Every second Friday, expect a rotating lineup of:

Coached teams working toward House Team status
House Player Projects—experimental formats from performers you already love

Here’s the twist: the lineup is always changing.
Acts rotate in overlapping cycles, so every show is a brand-new mix of bold ideas, musical experiments, storytelling swings, and creative risks.

Short bursts or long-form. Familiar faces or brand-new teams.
Every show is a different ride.

And this version? Uncensored. So… buckle up.

Our superhero improv show for kids!
The audience helps create the heroes, powers, and story live—expect big laughs, big energy, and some very questionable superpowers.

Our open improv playground where anything goes (in the best way).

Old Pueblo Playwrights cordially invite you to attend their weekly meeting, Monday, April 13, 2026 beginning at 7 pm. On the first three Mondays of each month we hold a Hybrid meeting, which means, you can join us in person at St. Francis in the Foothills, Room # 50. ( Campus map attached) Alternately, you can join us online through Zoom. (Link below) {insert message from OPP President, John Vornholt}

Okay. There will be an in-person meeting for sure. It may have a Zoom component to it, if we can get some unfamiliar technology working. Anyone who attends on Zoom only should be warned that it may not work. This is not an official hybrid meeting like we've held for 5 years -- it is an experiment.

Frankly, I have no idea how this will work. That's why I will probably schedule a trial Zoom meeting on Sunday. I think our regular Zoom link can go out. Like with the Portal, I won't input the link from the email. (If you remember, I typed it into both Portals before every meeting.) But I THINK the Echo Show allows me to give a voice command to Alexa to join a meeting. (I'll probably do that and instead get Celine Dion's greatest hits.)

About the Play & Playwright

About the Play

Home, I'm Darling received its world premiere at Theatr Clwyd, Wales in June 2018. It transferred to the Dorfman Theatre at the National Theatre, London and then to the West End's Duke of York's Theatre in January 2019.

The production won the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy at the 2019 Laurence Olivier Awards — the UK's most prestigious theatre honor. It received four additional nominations including Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Set Design, and Best Costume Design.

The play has since been produced in Australia, toured the UK, and continues to receive productions internationally.

About the Playwright

Laura Wade is an English playwright and screenwriter. Trained at Bristol University and the Royal Court Theatre Young Writers' Programme, she has written for the Royal Court, National Theatre, Chichester Festival Theatre, and Sydney Opera House, among others.

Her plays include Posh (Royal Court/West End), The Watsons (Chichester/Menier Chocolate Factory), Colder Than Here (Soho Theatre/MCC New York), Breathing Corpses (Royal Court), and Tipping the Velvet (Lyric Hammersmith). Her film work includes The Riot Club.

Wade's awards include the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy (2019), Critics' Circle Award for Most Promising Playwright, the Pearson Best Play Award, and the George Devine Award.

About These Auditions

Arizona Opera is pleased to announce auditions for chorus positions in the 2026/27 Season. The Arizona Opera Chorus is comprised of Arizona-based singers living in or around the Phoenix and Tucson areas.

Incumbent and core choristers who auditioned last spring are not required to re-audition this year. Those who did not audition last spring, or who were on sabbatical during the 2025/26 Season, will be expected to audition to be considered for 2026/27 chorus positions.

Audition Schedule

Auditions will be held at two locations to accommodate both Phoenix- and Tucson-area singers. Each auditioner will be scheduled for an 8-minute slot.

Audition Format & Requirements

All auditioners — both returning choristers and new applicants — should prepare the following. Incumbent and core choristers must also audition if they wish to be considered for the featured supporting and bit roles listed below.

About Live Theatre Workshop

Live Theatre Workshop produces inclusive, accessible, and affordable professional theatre and theatre education for children, adults, and families throughout Tucson. Now entering its landmark 30th season, LTW operates a year-round campus at 3322 E. Fort Lowell Road with Mainstage productions, Children's Theatre musicals, Etcetera Late-Night shows, classes, camps, and the annual Young Playwrights program. LTW seeks skilled theatrical technicians and designers for its full 2026–2027 season. Production-specific and over-hire engagements are welcome in addition to season-long commitments.

Costumer / Costume Designer Over-hire and production-specific opportunities available	Design, build, alter, and maintain costumes across productions ranging from contemporary drama to classic Shakespeare and original musicals. This weekend we have an amazing array of shows, but I am so excited for our Saturday night line up. At 7:30 pm, we’ve got something truly special, and very on-brand for our community. Tootpole is taking the stage for a baby shower show. Yes and, that's right, we’re celebrating one of our own the best way we know how with musical improv games. It’s going to be joyful, funny, and full of heart! This is exactly what makes the TIM community so great, the love of improv, but the love we have for each other.

Then at 8:30 pm, we shift gears to LFT and The Deconditioned, bringing you a night of long form improv. You have never experienced a long form show like this before, here’s the deal: it’s bold, it’s experimental, and honestly… it’s a little punk rock. No scripts, no safety nets, just committed performers building something hilarious and unexpected right in front of you. Hard-core funny, guaranteed.

The Soapbox w/George Rosas
(Re)telling Tucson's Story
Friday night at 7:30pm

Saxophonist George Rosas currently serves as the Adjunct Professor of Saxophone at Pima Community College. Rosas is completing his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Saxophone Performance and an emphasis in wind band conducting at the University of Arizona. Through personalized instruction, Rosas seeks to cultivate meaningful connections to music that positively impacts his students’ daily lives and their overall perspective through life.

George is the founder of the Mexican-inspired chamber ensemble Grupo Arizona, a group that significantly challenges the current landscape of what we know chamber music to be here in the United States. Grupo Arizona recently competed as one of ten finalists selected in all of North America for the first iteration of the North American Saxophone Alliance’s FLEX Competition. Originally from Nogales, Arizona, George Rosas holds a Masters degrees from The University of Oklahoma in Saxophone Performance.

Everyone has a story to tell. Four short and personal stories from our special guest at 7:30pm will inspire Tucson's premier improv comedy team.

TUCSON, Ariz. – Big Broadway energy comes to campus this spring as the University of Arizona School of Theatre, Film & Television presents Jerry's Girls, a dazzling, women-centered revue celebrating the iconic music of composer and lyricist Jerry Herman, brought to life by the next generation of stage talent.

Running April 23 through May 3 at the Marroney Theatre, with preview performances on April 19 and 22, Jerry's Girls showcases some of the most beloved songs in American musical theatre. Featuring selections from Hello, Dolly!, Mame, La Cage Aux Folles, Mack and Mabel, Milk and Honey and A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine, the production highlights the wit, warmth and show-stopping energy that define Herman's work.

DIRECTOR'S NOTE

Director and choreographer Christie Kerr brings together a cast ranging from first-year students to seniors. “Jerry’s Girls is a celebration of bold, joyful storytelling and the incredible roles written for women on the musical stage,” said Kerr. “It’s also an opportunity for our students to take on material that is as technically demanding as it is deeply rewarding.”

For cast member Selah Lipman, a senior Musical Theatre major, the experience has been transformative. “Being part of Jerry’s Girls has pushed me in new ways as both a performer and an assistant choreographer,” she said. “I’ve loved stepping into the role of choreographing several numbers, exploring the precision, energy, and nuance of Jerry Herman’s music. There’s something incredibly exciting about bringing this classic Broadway style to life for today’s audiences.”

As the final subscription performance of the School’s 2025–26 season, the production reflects the program’s commitment to hands-on training at a professional level. Audiences can expect polished vocals, dynamic staging and a vibrant tribute to one of Broadway’s most enduring composers.

PART ONE: Participants will use a video monitor to practice finding the center of frame, proper lip synch, eye focus, and keeping a consistent height. We will work with breath, posture, hand movements and vocal characterization to convey emotion.

PART TWO: We will refine the skills introduced in Part One, add scene work, group improvisations, and choreograph a musical number.

Lisa’s TV/film credits include Elmo in Grouchland, Muppets from Space, Howard the Duck, the Flintstones, Ninja Turtles III, RoboCop2, Gremlins 2, Murphy Brown, PuzzlePlace, Batman Returns and several commercials.

COST: $150 for one session, or $250 for both sessions.

The Shoestring Summer Showcase is the culminating performance of the new Shoestring Director's Workshop, where seasoned Shoestring directors, crew leads, and actors mentor emerging artists from Green Valley, Sahuarita, Tucson, and neighboring communities. About the Production

Art meets science in an unusual yet thought-provoking comedy by famed actor, comedian, and musician Steve Martin. The Lapin Agile is a bar in Paris frequented by colorful characters — but on a particular evening in 1904, two young men arrive whose accomplishments will define the twentieth century. Their names are Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein. Their discussions of art, science, love, and relationships are profound, yet border on the absurd. Before the evening ends, they are joined by a third great figure of the century: a country boy from the future who sings rock and roll.

We are seeking talented performers for a music video production for a known singer/songwriter. The video features a comedic story set in the American West of the 1880s — expect saloons, standoffs, and serious fun. This will be a full day of creative filmmaking that audiences will enjoy for years to come.

Date: Saturday, April 19, 2026 — plan on a full day
Location: Benson, Arizona (exact location provided to all cast upon selection)

Non-Union production
Currently a volunteer/deferred project — no pay at this time

Must provide your own period-appropriate wardrobe (1880s Western)

General Performers

Comedic sensibility and a great attitude are a plus

Stunt Performers — Especially Wanted!

The video includes a bar fight scene. We would love to have performers with stunt experience, specifically:

Fight choreography background
Stage combat or theatrical brawling experience
Stunt coordination or falling/reaction work

Unique Old West skills will absolutely be featured. If you can do any of the following, we want to know:

Rope tricks / lasso work
Horseback riding
