‘The City Limits’ is an amazing time-lapse video taken from numerous scenic skylines over the course of an entire year. From Montreal to Manhattan, photographer Dominic Boudreault captured picturesque lit up cityscapes and rural retreats. The visual experience takes you through Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, Manhattan and Chicago. The goal of showcasing duality between cities and nature emerges through the views of the Chicago skyline – taken from the John Hancock building – to the starry nights from Quebec National Parks.

The timeless English model has clearly not lost a step as she continues to pop up in amazingly popular editorials in fashion periodicals around the globe. Shot by fashion photographers Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, Moss glows off of an minimalistic white background. Look out for the rest of the editorial to emerge in the coming days and weeks. We’d like to introduce you to the fantastic architecture artwork of Austrailian illustrator, painter and sculpturist, Paul Davies. Davis creates awe inspiring works of color primarily concerned with modern architecture influenced by the likes of Jeffrey Smart and Frank Lloyd Wright.

“For the past five years I have used my work to depict and consider other examples of modern architecture, and its open plan living ideal as a way of responding to the landscape that surrounds it. My decision to paint images of modern architecture over other styles of buildings was based on the egotistical and dominant nature of these structures. The painting style which I use is often bold and dramatic and attempts to enforce the architect’s original idea of “looking forward”. By applying layers of collaged images, including my own photographs, I piece together elements that aim to heighten the original subject and display it in a contemporary manner. Often the paintings appear nostalgic due to the subject and palate, however I try to represent these structures as they are found today: in various states of physical condition. The stencils also allow me to repeat images and create mirrors of the subject, for example the reflections in pools and rivers become a way of reconsidering the optimism under which the building was created.”

03.11.2011 is a date as infamous in Japan as 9/11 reads here in North America. Nearing the first anniversary of the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and devastating tsunami, a new documentary, PRAY FOR JAPAN takes an introspective look at the disaster, the subsequent effect on and ultimate resilience of the Japanese people. Filmmaker Stu Levy – an American living in Japan – filmed the tsunami aftermath during his trips to Tohoku as a volunteer and over a period of 6 weeks, captured over 50 hours of footage.

On March 11, 2011, Japan’s Tohoku coastal region was destroyed by a 9.0 magnitude earthquake and devastating tsunami that followed. PRAY FOR JAPAN takes place in the devastated region of Ishinomaki, Miyagi – the largest coastal city in Tohoku with a population of over 160,000 people. Filmmaker Stu Levy – an American living in Japan – filmed the tsunami aftermath during his trips to Tohoku as a volunteer and over a period of 6 weeks, captured over 50 hours of footage. PRAY FOR JAPAN focuses on four key perspectives of the tragedy – School, Shelter, Family, and Volunteers. With each perspective we meet victims who faced significant obstacles and fought to overcome them. Through these four vantage points, the audience is able to understand the vast ramifications of this large-scale natural disaster – and the battle these real-life heroes fought on behalf of their loved ones and their hometown.

We have never seen a girl stir so much controversy within the fashion industry. It seems like Kate Upton and her somewhat obvious assets has the fashion community up in arms again over what we can tell is another fairly harmless cover. Who knew that simply having breasts could be so controversial? First the Sports Illustrated cover and now this. Regardless of all that, the hyped 19-year-old is featured in the cover editorial of the spring issue of Muse. The 29th issue of the fashion magazine features other eds from Aymeline Valade, Toni Garrn, Kendra Spears and Izabel Goulart. Stay tuned for more to come from this.

Danish brand Norse Projects has been turing heads now for quite some time. Un-bashful color is a recurring theme in the upcoming Spring/Summer 2012 collection. It is quite refreshing as they keep their taste for bold style without compromising the sheer ease of their ready to wear pieces. The collection features an assortment of lightweight and suede jackets, parkas, blazers, sweat crews, button-ups, chino shorts along with various headwear accessories. To sum up, we conclude it’s a winner.

In a fantastic editorial for the February issue of Spain’s chapter of Harper’s Bazaar, the lovely Alina Baikova displays nine ways to rock Chanel. The Ukrainian beauty flaunts sleek Chanel jackets selected by Juan Cebrian for the lens of photographer Nagi Sakai. Make-up by Fredrik Stambro with hair from Pasquale Ferrante.

Terry Richardson took to his diary again this morning to show off some recent candids of British model Lily Donaldson. Taking most of the normal Terry’s Diary poses, Donaldson tries on an impression of the legendary photographer, as well as getting a little crazy with some colorful hair curlers. We will be on the lookout for what, if any, cover features or editorials come from this well-documented encounter.

Semple Brown Design has been constructing comprehensive design solutions since 1982. The Kennedy Residence resides on the canyon bluffs directly east of the municipality of Boulder, Colorado. The plan was organized in a very organic fashion; three wings (each responding to geometries driven by the mature trees), connected to each other and hinged by public spaces and courtyards.

Located on 12-acres of quiet ranchland and adjacent to the buff-colored stone canyon bluffs directly east of Boulder, the site for this project was unique in that its orientation was not about distant views, it was about directing energy inward and creating a peaceful intimacy within the site itself.

A heavily wooded pocket of land set the stage for this particular design challenge of weaving the house through a maze of cottonwood, elm, and spruce. The plan was organized in a very organic fashion; three wings (each responding to geometries driven by the mature trees), connected to each other and hinged by public spaces and courtyards.

The first wing welcomes guests into the main hallway and acts as a connecting axis into Wings 2 and 3. It provides clear views to the west past the screen porch into the private courtyard and towards the east where it provides seamless and expansive views of the open-space.

The flowing and unobtrusive layout of this wing, allows the kitchen to function as the heart of the house; for the dining room and screen porch to act as extensions of the backyard; and for the living room to peer out over the open vistas and cliffs along Boulder Creek.

The second wing emerges from the family room off of the kitchen and bends back to create the children’s rooms and a secluded master suite at the end of a long stone hall. In its flow this wing creates a natural marriage between the public and more private, intimate spaces within the home.

The entry court is framed by a stone wall that bends around the garage, play room, barn, and guest suite creating the third wing.
