Late-night host Jimmy Fallon isn't afraid to admit that Saved By The Bell is his personal guilty pleasure and he wants to see the cast reunite.
Saved By The Bell began as a Disney Channel sitcom called Good Morning, Miss Bliss. It revolves around a sensible teacher (Haley Mills) who instructs students like Zack (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), "Screech" (Dustin Diamond), Lisa (Lark Voorhies), Nikki (Heather Hopper), and Mikey (Max Battimo). (Some notable students in the pilot are played by Jaleel White, Brian Austin Green and Jonathan Brandis.) The school's principal is Mr. Belding (Dennis Haskins) and the maintenance supervisor is Mylo Williams (T. K. Carter).
The show was cancelled after 13 episodes and NBC acquired the rights to revamp the series. A few characters were kept (Zack, Screech, Lisa, and Mr. Belding) and the new show, Saved By The Bell, began focusing on the students. Students Kelly (Tiffani Thiessen) and "Jessie" (Elizabeth Berkley) were introduced as longtime friends of the original characters and a new transfer student, A.C. (Mario Lopez), rounded out the group.
The show lasted for five seasons and was a cornerstone of NBC's Saturday morning programming. The show ended in 1993 but many in the cast reunited for two made-for-TV movies -- Saved by the Bell: Hawaiian Style and Saved By The Bell: Wedding in Las Vegas -- and a short-lived primetime spin-off series, Saved By The Bell: The College Years. A new group of students populated the Saturday morning spin-off Saved By The Bell: The New Class.

Diff’rent Strokes: Change the Theme Song and The Show Can Get Disturbing

It's sad to say but TV theme songs aren't nearly as important as they once were. Some current shows don't have them like Lost or rarely use them like Two And A Half Men.

There was a time when a TV show's theme song was essential, setting the mood and the back story. What would Gilligan's Island, The Brady Bunch, or even Full House be without their iconic music? Well, one industrious YouTuber decided to see how replacing the opening of a cancelled classic would change the show's tone.

Diff'rent Strokes was an incredibly popular sitcom in the 1970s. Before the housekeeper of wealthy Philip Drummond (Conrad Bain) passes away, she asks him to take care of her sons, played by Todd Bridges and Gary Coleman. Drummond agrees and the boys move from Harlem to uptown Manhattan to live with him, his daughter (Dana Plato), and their new housekeeper (Charlotte Rae). It's a show of dated, yet light-hearted fun.

The show's opening illustrates the premise with a catchy theme song. But, change the music and darken the lighting and you'll probably never see sweet Mr. Drummond in quite the same way again.

Last week, we said goodbye to ABC's Life on Mars after a too-short run of 17 episodes. Love or hate the ending, most people are happy that the show's executive producers -- Josh Appelbaum, Scott Rosenberg, and André Nemec -- had a chance to wrap things up before the TV show ended.

As those who tuned in found out, Sam (Jason O'Mara) was not actually a cop from 2008 as we'd been led to believe. He was actually an astronaut from the year 2035 who had been placed in a state of deep sleep for a long trip to Mars. In his dream state, he was supposed to be living out a fantasy about living as a 2008 detective. His spaceship was hit some turbulence which caused the program to malfunction, sending his fantasy persona back to 1973. Elements of his 2035 life and versions of his fellow space travelers (Michael Imperioli, Gretchen Mol, Jonathan Murphy, and Harvey Keitel) were present in this new dream and kept our favorite "spaceman" off balance and confused.

At one point during the series, Sam learns (via one of his strange flashes) that Obama had been elected President. At the time, viewers simply assumed that this referred to Barack Obama being elected last November.

Great TV characters never truly go away. Sure, their shows may eventually be cancelled but we get to see them via reruns, DVDs, and maybe even an occasional reunion. If we're lucky, they might even pop up in an unexpected place or two -- like The Price Is Right and The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson.

The Drew Carey Show ran from 1995 until 2006. The sitcom centers around a nice guy (Drew Carey) who works in the human resources department of a multinational department store. His boss is Mr. Wick (Craig Ferguson), a nasty man with a loathsome secretary named Mimi Bobeck (Kathy Kinney) -- an overweight woman who wears too much makeup. Other characters are played by Ryan Stiles, Diedrich Bader, Christa Miller, John Carroll Lynch, Cynthia Watros, Ian Gomez, and Nan Martin.

The castmembers are all very talented but the show's most memorable persona is certainly Kinney's egocentric Mimi. Interestingly, the character was intended to only appear in the pilot episode but the audience's reaction was so positive that she became a regular.

It seems that the MacGyver movie has a good chance of being made. What some fans may not know is that this isn't the first time a new version has been attempted.

In October 2002, Paramount made a deal with the WB network to produce a pilot for a new MacGyver series. Rather than focusing on Richard Dean Anderson's character, it would revolve around his nephew. Young MacGyver follows him as he winds up joining the Phoenix Foundation.

Casting got underway in late 2002 and they ended up hiring a pre-Supernatural Jared Padalecki, who'd been working on the network's Gilmore Girls. He reportedly had to pass on a role in Cheaper By The Dozen to do it. That part ended up going to Smallville's Tom Welling. The rest of the Young MacGyver pilot's cast includes Ron Canada, Tracey McCall, Alan Loayza, Lee Burns, Dominic Golden, and Kiele Sanchez.

The project was written by a young writer who was just five years out of Harvard, Samuel Baum. At the time, he jokingly told TV Guide, "It's been an excruciating writing process for me, because I, of course, have to try all these [makeshift gadgets and] MacGyverisms out before I write them. I've actually blown off every finger on both hands rigging all the things that Clay uses." His digits must have grown back somehow because Baum's gone on to write many more projects, most recently creating FOX's Lie to Me series.

There are plans afoot to make yet another big-screen movie based on a popular cancelled TV show. This time around, it's MacGyver. Will this one fare any better than the rest?

MacGyver revolves around Angus MacGyver (Richard Dean Anderson), a intelligent action hero who prefers to utilize everyday items to get out of tough situations. He works for the Phoenix Foundation under the command of operative Pete Thornton (Dana Elcar). Recurring characters are played by Bruce McGill, Michael Des Barres, Elyssa Davalos, Robin Mossley, Susan Chapple, John Anderson, Teri Hatcher, Robert Donner, Dale Wilson, Bruce Harwood, Claire Brown, and Jackson Davies.

MacGyver has endured the test of time so the character's been revived several times. In 1994, he returned in "Lost Treasure of Atlantis" and "Trail to Doomsday".

Back in 2003, the WB network developed a pilot for a Young MacGyver series that starred Jared Padalecki (Supernatural) as MacGyver's nephew and protege, Clay. The network ultimately passed on the project and decided to greenlight the ill-fated Tarzan series instead.

David Faustino is doing something similar to Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star, but he's making it far more personal. He stars in a web comedy series called Star-ving, a parodied version of his own life. One of the recent episodes provides a special treat for fans of Married With Children.

Ed O'Neill, Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate, and Faustino starred as the members of the unique sitcom family known as the Bundys. Al is a dad/husband with a caustic wit and a penchant for attending strip clubs. Peg is his sex-starved, lazy wife who always wears high heels, spandex pants, and teased hair. Daughter Kelly is even more dim-witted than her mother while son Bud seems to have picked up the worst features of both of his parents. Other regular performers include Amanda Bearse, Ted McGinley, David Garrison, Harold Sylvester, E.E. Bell, Dan Tullis Jr., Kevin Curran, and Tom McCleister.

When the show closed after 259 episodes in 1997, Faustino's career seemed to end with it. While the other castmembers went on to leading roles in their own shows, he landed occasional guest star roles. This inspired him and Corin Nemec, a close friend and fellow former child star (Parker Lewis Can't Lose), to develop a web series based on Faustino's frustrating, post-sitcom life. The Sony-owned site, Crackle, is committed to 13 episodes of Star-ving that run less than 10 minutes each.

Five years ago, NBC and television viewers said goodbye to Friends after 10 seasons and 236 episodes. Before the TV show's last episode even aired, rumors began swirling about possible reunions. While the public would generally like to see one, the Friends cast haven't exactly expressed excitement about returning to Central Perk.

The ladies and gents seem to be pretty divided on their willingness to revive their sitcom characters. David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, and Matt LeBlanc haven't expressed any interest while Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox Arquette and Jennifer Aniston are open to doing one if the venue and script feels right.

David Schwimmer has said outright that he doesn't have interest in doing a Friends reunion. Matthew Perry thinks it's unlikely to happen any time soon, no sooner than 10 or 20 years. Matt LeBlanc's Joey spin-off was skewered by critics and was cancelled after two seasons. He now concentrates on his own production company, Fort Hill Productions, and hasn't appeared onscreen since 2006.

Courteney Cox Arquette and Jennifer Aniston have each talked about the idea of doing a Friends reunion based around a Thanksgiving gathering, essentially doing another episode of the show. Arquette once said, "I think [the characters] see each other every year." Lisa Kudrow said that she'd certainly like to do a reunion but feels that it would be very tricky to do the project well.

In 1966, Batman was an overnight sensation. Starring Adam West and Burt Ward, the series ran for 120 episodes. Kids liked the action while parents enjoyed the campy satire.

While villains like Riddler (Frank Gorshin, John Astin), Joker (Cesar Romero), Catwoman (Julie Newmar, Earth Kitt), Penguin (Burgess Meredith), Egghead (Vincent Price), Mr. Freeze (George Sanders, Otto Preminger, Eli Wallach) and King Tut (Victor Buono) made multiple appearances, many only appeared once or twice.

Lesser-seen villains include Zelda the Great (Anne Baxter), Mad Hatter (David Wayne), Bookworm (Roddy McDowall), Ma Parker (Shelley Winters), Black Widow (Tallulah Bankhead), Shame (Cliff Robertson), Siren (Joan Collins), Louie the Lilac (Milton Berle), False Face (Malachi Throne), The Clock King (Walter Slezak), The Archer (Art Carney), and Marsha, Queen of Diamonds (Carolyn Jones). Most of these characters were created specifically for the show and haven't been seen since -- until the new Batman The Brave and the Bold series.

After the series folded, West and Ward reprised their roles as Batman and Robin a few times, mostly for some animation work and a pair of live-action specials.
While many child stars have had serious problems later in life, Neil Patrick Harris has proven to be one of the exceptions. He was thrust into the spotlight at age 16 as the star of his own hit ABC show, Doogie Howser MD. He's received a lot of kidding about his alter-ego but he's always been happy to joke about it himself.

Doogie Howser, MD centers around Douglas "Doogie" Howser, a protege who becomes a doctor at 14 and works as a resident surgeon in Los Angeles. The series stars Harris, Max Casella, Lawrence Pressman, James Sikking, Kathryn Layng, Belinda Montgomery, Lucy Boryer, Markus Redmond, Mitchell Anderson, Lisa Dean Ryan, and Rif Hutton.

Following the end of the series, Harris continued to act on television and also worked in movies and musicals. His second breakout role came in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle . That role led him to being cast in How I Met Your Mother.

Despite his later success, he's never been shy about his work on Doogie. Harris filmed a nice Doogie homage on Mother last season (you can see it here) and, a fun campaign for Old Spice.
After the immediate success of ABC's Lost and Desperate Housewives, the networks thought that viewers wanted to see more serial dramas. That didn't work out very well.

Vanished centers around the sudden disappearance of Sara Collins (Joanne Kelly), a teacher and the wife of Senator Jeffery Collins (John Allen Nelson). Once the FBI gets involved, the secrets of Sara and those around her start to come spewing out and many have possible motives including her husband's political enemies, son Max (John Patrick Amedori), and daughter Marcy (Margarita Levieva).

FBI Agents Graham Kelton (Gale Harold) and Lin Mei (Ming-Na) lead the investigation of Sara's disappearance. Before Kelton can tell what he's uncovered, he's murdered and Agent Daniel Lucas (Eddie Cibrian), takes over the case. Other performers in the series include Rebecca Gayheart, Christopher Egan, Esai Morales, Leslie Odom Jr., Penelope Ann Miller, Joseph C. Phillips, Jeff Michael, Christopher Cousins, Josh Hopkins, David Berman, Robert Hoffman, and Robin Pearson Rose.

As the freshman drama began to fail, writers on Vanished were told to wrap up the abduction story in 13 episodes. The final installment, "Hot Springs", wasn't shown in primetime and was only released online. Some of the audience found it, most didn't. Because there were so many other continuing storylines in Vanished, few viewers who did see it felt very satisfied. Last season, there was talk of revisiting the case for an episode of Bones but this idea seems to have been derailed by the writers strike.

NBC has certainly had some problems attracting viewers. One of their biggest trouble spots has been Monday nights at 10pm. Great shows like Journeyman, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and The Black Donnellys have all tried and failed. My Own Worst Enemy hasn't done any better.

My Own Worst Enemy centers around Henry Spivey (Christian Slater), an everyday businessman with a wife (Madchen Amick) and two kids (Taylor Lautner, and Bella Thorne). Unbeknown to even himself, Henry has another identity as an operative and trained killer named Edward Albright.

In this second persona, he works for a secret spy organization under the supervision of Mavis Heller (Alfre Woodard). He's frequently partnered with Tom Grady/Raymond Carter (Mike O'Malley). Other performers include Omid Abtahi, Saffron Burrows, James Cromwell, Sarai Givaty, Mark Ivanir, Mindy Sterling, Missy Yager, Eugenia Yuan, and Louis Giambalvo.

The show debuted on October 13, 2008 on NBC and attracted a mediocre 7.27 million viewers and a 3.0/8 rating/share in the 18-49 demographic. Over the next several weeks, the numbers dropped to a low of 3.63 million and 1.5/4. Worst Enemy lost over 40% of its Heroes lead-in in overall viewers and even more than that in the key demographic. The disappointing ratings caused NBC to pull the plug and shut down production almost immediately.

I Love Lucy is one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time. Thanks to Desi Arnaz, the show was shot on film and the episodes look much better than other black and white shows from that era. But, have you ever wished that you could see Lucy and Ricky in color?

I Love Lucy follows Lucy (Lucille Ball) and Ricky (Desi Arnaz) Ricardo. They're a middle-class couple who live in an NYC apartment, owned by friends Fred (William Frawley) and Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance). Ricky's a bandleader at a local nightclub and Lucy will do anything to get into show business. Eventually, Lucy gives birth to a son, little Ricky (Richard Keith).

The series ran for six seasons on CBS. Despite still being a top-rated show, Arnaz and Ball tired of the weekly grind. All of the characters transitioned to The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour which ran for three seasons as hour-long specials.

In 1958, Arnaz offered to spin-off the Mertzes to their own show. Frawley was willing but Vance wasn't interested. That only deepened the long-standing distaste the two performers had for one another and they rarely spoke off-camera.

One of the most-anticipated movies of 2009 is J.J. Abrams' new Star Trek movie, a prequel to the original 1960s series. Fans have been looking forward to the return of Leonard Nimoy as an aged Mr. Spock. Now, another original castmember is also returning. Of course, you'll never see her.

The original Star Trek TV show was created by Gene Roddenberry and follows the U.S.S. Enterprise. The starship is commanded by Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and his first mate, Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy). Kirk's close friend is the cantankerous Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Leonard McCoy (DeForest Kelley). Other personnel include Chief Engineer Scott (James Doohan), helmsman Sulu (George Takei), communications officer Uhura (Nichelle Nichols), navigator Chekov (Walter Koenig), head nurse Chapel (Majel Barrett), and yeoman Rand (Grace Lee Whitney).

As anyone familiar with modern culture knows, the series was cancelled after three seasons on NBC but found new life in syndication. Eventually, this new popularity spawned an animated series, four more live-action series, ten feature films, and a slew of books, toys, magazines, and other licensed products.

ABC's guilty pleasure, Dirty Sexy Money, has been struggling. This season, the TV show has been averaging just six million viewers. The network had ordered 13 episodes for year two with the option of purchasing additional installments. They decided against exercising that option but one of the series' stars says that it's not over yet.

Dirty Sexy Money follows a lawyer (Peter Krause) who gets talked into representing the powerful Darling family; patriarch Tripp (Donald Sutherland), wife Letitia (Jill Clayburgh), and their five grown children -- politician Patrick (William Baldwin), promiscuous Karen (Natalie Zea), corrupt clergyman Brian (Glenn Fitzgerald), and party-loving twins Jeremy (Seth Gabel) and Juliet (Samaire Armstrong). Other performers include Blair Underwood, Zoe McLellan, Lucy Liu, Will Shadley, Laura Margolis, Bellamy Young, Candis Cayne, Shawn Michael Patrick, Chloe Moretz, Sheryl Lee, Andrea Smithson, and Daniel Cosgrove.

The cast and crew have completed filming their 13th episode for the season and we're told it will include a bit of closure. Baldwin is optimistic that it won't be the series finale. In a statement reminiscent of Brooke Shields' overly optimistic comments about Lipstick Jungle, the actor says that the show isn't cancelled yet and is just "on the bubble."

Unlike the past features, this one is a prequel. Devout fans usually shudder at the idea of anyone but the original cast playing their beloved characters. Now, most fanboys are itching to see the new creation -- partially because of director J.J. Abrams and partially because it means the return of Leonard Nimoy as Mr. Spock.

Star Trek follows the exploits of the crew of the starship USS Enterprise in the far-flung future. The ship is commanded by Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and his first mate and science officer, Mr. Spock (Nimoy). Kirk's confidant is the cantankerous Dr. Leonard McCoy (DeForest Kelley). Other valued personnel include Chief Engineer Scott (James Doohan), helmsman Sulu (George Takei), communications officer Uhura (Nichelle Nichols), navigator Chekov (Walter Koenig), head nurse Chapel (Majel Barrett), and yeoman Rand (Grace Lee Whitney).

The series debuted on September 8, 1966 and struggled for most of its run on NBC. The network ultimately cancelled the low-rated show after three seasons on the air. The series' popularity really took off once it hit syndication and students found it airing weekday afternoons. Trek inspired a slew of toys, books, an animated series, a string of successful movies and four live-action spin-off TV series featuring other casts and characters.

Oprah Winfrey made a rare TV appearance (outside of her own show) last week. Last night, Steve Martin and Jennifer Aniston (Friends) were the big guests -- or were they? How about the mini-Night Court reunion?

Night Court follows the surreal courtroom of Judge Harry Stone who presides over a crazy NYC night court. Self-obsessed Assistant D.A. Dan Fielding (John Larroquette) represents the state while public defenders like Liz Williams (Paula Kelly), Billie Young (Ellen Foley), and, for most of the series, Christine Sullivan (Markie Post) take the side of the accused. "Mac" Robinson (Charles Robinson) is the long-suffering court clerk while bailiffs like "Bull" Shannon (Richard Moll), Selma Hacker (Selma Diamond), Florence Kleiner (Florence Halop), and Roz Russell (Marsha Warfield) try to keep courtroom visitors under control.

The TV show debuted as an NBC midseason replacement on January 4, 1984. Though the series began as a run-of-the-mill sitcom, the tone evolved into one of bizarre and off-the-wall humor. Night Court was a top-rated show for most of its nine season run and said goodbye with a zany hour-long installment on May 31, 1992. In the episode, Harry considers different job offers and the other characters decide to make changes as well. In the end, Judge Stone decides to stay on the bench.

Now that the presidential election is over, it's time to put to rest one of the campaign's stranger urban legends. Was Blair Underwood's L.A. Law character based on a young Barack Obama?

L.A. Law debuted on September 15, 1986. The NBC series was created by prolific Steven Bochco (Hill Street Blues) and gave a big break to David E. Kelley, the talented writer who later created legal shows like Ally McBeal, The Practice, and Boston Legal. In its day, L.A. Law was a cornerstone of NBC's mega-successful Thursday night line-up. Following a group of lawyers at a Los Angeles law firm, the series showcases actors like Corbin Bernsen, Jill Eikenberry, Alan Rachins, Michael Tucker, Richard Dysart, Larry Drake, Susan Ruttan, Susan Dey, Jimmy Smits, Harry Hamlin, Michele Greene, John Spencer, Sheila Kelley, and Amanda Donohoe.

Blair Underwood joined the show's cast in season two as a young hotshot black attorney named Jonathan Rollins. Lately, some have wondered if Underwood's character was based on Obama in his early days. While there is a connection between the two, it's not quite what you might expect.
