I’ll be watching tonight just to see if Olivia or someone else is relaying the story of what is going on. Sure hope that was just something that happened in the first couple of episodes, otherwise it is going to get old quick, as in already.

The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS): Repeat. In “Happy Endings” from this past season, Christine and Barb decide to turn the gym into a spa.
Gary Unmarried (CBS): Repeat. In “Gary’s Ex-Brother-In-Law” from this past season, Gary needs help from Allison’s brother when he gets audited.

10 Things I Hate About You (ABC Family): Series Premiere. Based on the 1999 movie of the same name that starred Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, which is a modern day retelling of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew. Runs 36 minutes. Plays again later. I was annoyed by many of the characters, but have this to say about the series. If you loved the movie, you will probably not like this series. But, if you have no real affinity for the movie, then you may like this take on high school life. Overall, I’d say rent the movie insted.

Warehouse 13 (Syfy): Series Premiere. Two Secret Service agents get thrown together to hunt down paranormal and supernatural objects and bring them back to a secret warehouse for safekeeping. Runs two hours. Plays twice and then another five times over the next week including next Tuesday evening. This show is a lot of fun and worth checking out. For more on the series read my review.

Solid Selections

Ace of Cakes (Food Network): Repeats. Duff and the gang are “Shell Shocked” and want to know “What’s Up Cookie?” Both episode play again later.

Better Off Ted (ABC): Repeat. In “Win Some, Dose Some” from this season, Linda accidentally gets dosed with an experimental drug with some interesting side effects. Ted and Veronica are competing to sell the most wrapping paper for his daughter.
Scrubs (ABC): Repeat. In “My Full Moon” from this past season, the interns have to deal with all the craziness that a full moon brings out.

Saving Grace (TNT): New. A brutal home invasion is being investigated. Meanwhile, another angel is trying to convince Grace to leave Earl. Plays again later.

Other Options

• The Best Thing I Ever Ate (Food Network): New. Food Network personalities talk about the best foods they have eaten. This episode focuses on things that give you a “Sugar Rush.” Plays again later.
• Chopped (Food Network): New. Four chefs compete to create a three-course meal with secret ingredients revealed right before they cook each course. One of the ingredients is usually a little bizarre and doesn’t really go with the others in the basket, but all must be used to complete their dishes. In this one they try to show some “Pride on the Plate.” Plays again later.
• The Cleaner (A&E) New. William is hired to help a young Indian woman that is addicted to meth and about to be forced into a marriage by her father. Williams decides to take her on her wedding day and keep her at his safe house instead of taking her to the hospital. Plays twice and again later twice.
• Rescue Me (FX): New. The crews act of goodwill backfire on them. Plays twice.
• HawthoRNe (TNT): New. Christina is fighting to save a Korean woman and her son after a car accident. Plays again later. I’m officially done with this series, just can’t get into it.

Sports Note

• Versus has coverage of Stage 4 of the Tour de France multiple times throughout the day.

Late Night

• Make It or Break It (ABC Family): Repeat. Last night’s episode, “Blowing Off Steam,” replays.

Quick Synopsis: A pair of agents are sent out to bring back an object before it wreaks havoc.

Long Synopsis: A pair of agents that don’t get along are put together to track down objects that carry some sort of power before they wreak havoc on the general population. After saving someone inadvertently from one of these objects, they are assigned to a secret warehouse in the middle of South Dakota to become the new agents in charge of finding these things before they cause too many problems and bring them back for safe storage.

Review: Warehouse 13 is a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the two-hour premiere, even if it runs a tad slow. This may be even more of a problem, if you are watching it with commercials. But, it is well worth checking out and I look forward to upcoming episodes.

Eddie McClintock (Bones, Crumbs) is great as Secret Service Agent Pete Latimer. He is a go by his gut and ask questions later type. His counterpart is Secret Service Agent Myka Bering, played by Joanne Kelly (The Dresden Files, Vanished). She is the straight-laced, by the book type.

The opposite personas of Bering and Latimer gives the duo a similar feel to Brennan and Booth on Bones, Beckett and Castle on Castle, or even Scully and Mulder on The X-Files. Much of the comedy comes from this type of clash between characters.

One of my favorite things is that they take their time letting you get to know these characters. They don’t shove a lot of information at you quickly, but let it flow naturally throughout the episode. So, by the end of the episode, you feel you know what makes these characters tick and why they are the way they are. This is also true of Warehouse 13 itself and the man who oversees it, played by Saul Rubinek (Blind Justice, Frasier).

Another great thing about the series is the warehouse and all the things housed there. They have given themselves the ability to let their imaginations go wild and come up with just about anything, either already there or needed to be tracked down and brought back.

Also, I like when a show takes real events from history and real myths and stories and combines them into a secret history that we didn’t realize we had. They have done a good job with this and it should provide many good stories going forward.

Overall, Warehouse 13 should make for some fun supernatural summer fun. Other than a couple more episodes of Better Off Ted on ABC, it is by far the best thing going in the second hour of primetime on Tuesdays. Check it out and then let me know what you think about Warehouse 13.
