Inspired by Van Gogh, the Dutch Post-Impressionist noted for his bold color and rough beauty, TableArt,  Eventions Productions and Stephen Starr Events created a memorable Opening Gala for the Van Gogh Up Close exhibition. A special thanks to the fabulous Marie Labbancz who captured the evening with her incredible photography.

The evening began by leading guests up the Great Stair Hall
through a path of blooming branches.
The Eventions Team added dramatic branch gobo’s. The effect was spectacular!

The contrast between the modern square mirrored charger
and the navy shimmer linen was elegant and dramatic.

Guest tables were placed around the Upper Balcony overlooking the Great Stair Hall.
Trailing down the center of each table were modern still life floral arrangements created from oncidium orchids, craspedia, fringed tulips and calla lilies accented
with birch branches and twinkling lights.

Twinkling lights in the arrangements could be seen from across the balcony.
For added ambience loose lavender rose petals were placed inside LED votives.

It was a pleasure to work with each of the talented professionals
to create a memorable evening celebrating Vincent Van Gogh.

Blackjack

As guests entered the building, they were visually dazzled by a modern composition
of green cymbidium orchids, star fish-shaped orange mokara orchids and sumptuous,
bi-color picante orange calla lilies accented by flickering votives and floating candles.

Watch out Rat Pack – This was going to be memorable evening!

Double down

The Roulette table was used as an escort card table complete with
poker chips designed for adult place cards.
Later in the evening, the table was twice the fun with high rollers
of all age trying their luck trying to beat the odds.

Meanwhile, the kids were having a blast searching for their special message
rolled up inside a bottle located in “Treasure Island”.

Treasure maps lead the kids to
their table named after a famous Las Vegas Hotel.

 ”Skyscrapers” of  multi-colored funfetti mapped out in various color sequences
spanned the length of each table.
The effect was cool by day and smokin’ hot at night!

Sunlight streaming through the jelly-like funfett inside the glass columns placed
on top of the perforated stainless steel tables provided by URBN looked phenomenal!

A very special thanks to our friends at

 The incredible  ”Farm to Table” evening
raised over $1 million in funds for the “Campaign for 10,000 Children”.

For many families, the local farmer’s market
has become the preferred choice over the mass grocery stores.

 In honor of the  Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia‘s
“Campaign for 10,000 Children”,
the evening celebrated the “Farm to Table” movement with all the details.

Guests entered URBN‘s 543 Building to a visual field of fantastic pumpkins
decorated by children from local schools.

Later in the evening, the pumpkins were auctioned off to guests by Mayor Nutter.

The CSF Children took a field trip the The Hayne’s farm, Doe Run.
The children were then asked to draw images from their experience at the farm.
URBN employees then translated the kid’s artwork into an original piece. Interpretations ranged from textiles, china to paintings. The artwork was exhibited alongside the child’s drawing and then auctioned off to support the  Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia.

A hang tag for each item explained the URBN employees’ connection
and inspiration to each of the drawings.

As shown above, a drawing of farm animals created by a student was interpreted
by an URBN employee into this cozy set of hand sewn cable stitched farm animals.

Love this Rooster!
I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t get back to the auction table before bidding closed,
but very happy that all proceeds from the auction went directly to the
Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia.

The fabulous wood tables were built by URBN.
The tables railroaded together to create a family style dining environment for 300 guests.

In support of the “Farm to Table” theme, TableArt worked with various local farmers
to gather flowers for the evening.

 Over 500 arrangements designed in mason jars
were staged prior to being placed on guest tables.

 Cockscomb and dahlia in a spectrum of fall colors all played beautifully together.

  Simple arrangements of  thistle, sedum and gumphrena
looked gorgeous placed on the URBN cocktail tables.

There is an emerging culture of “locavore’s” that are making an effort to eat only foods grown or harvested within a 100 mile radius of where they live.

Aimee Olexy of Talula’s Garden and Talula’s Table
provided an incredible sustainable “100 Mile Menu” for guests
to enjoy complete with beer and wine pairings.

CSFPhiladelphia is a wonderful organization that currently supports 3,000 low income children with K-8th grade, four year scholarships to attend quality, low tuition schools. There are more than 200 community based schools that participate in the program. One hundred percent of every dollar donated goes directly to scholarships and the CSF National organization matches all gifts with thirty-three cents. Talented young boys and girls enjoy educational opportunities that they otherwise could not afford. For the students and their families these scholarships are truly transformational.

Artisanal food is quickly becoming the emerging American Meal and locavore has become the latest buzz word used to describe someone who eats food grown or produced locally.

This  incredible night will feature a sustainable “100 Mile Menu”
designed by Aimee Olexy of Talula’s Garden and Talula’s Table.

We are looking forward to sharing with you all the details from this incredible event.

The methodology of  “Farm to Table” centers around produce purchased locally to ensure freshness and at the same time supporting local farmers. Sunflowers, zinnias, sedum, gumphrena, asclepsia and bleuplurem were provided by a local farmer, Ralph Formesano. TableArt has been working with our trusted friend and resource Ralph, for the 20 years that TableArt has been in business.

A treasured secret among floral designers is to build a color story around a strong interior element. The fabulous modern paintings by Wolf Kahn were the inspiration for brilliant, monochromatic, late summer flowers.

Monochromatic doesn’t mean boring. The trick is to use one hue but play with a broad spectrum within the color range.

Injecting lots of texture provided richness and depth to the table. Adding texture is a bit like adding spices to cooking. It creates more depth and flavor to the tablescape.

It can seem counterintuitive, but a pop of color can emphasize the monochromatic design. We loved how this glass aqua blue charger pulled together all the elements of the table. The modern reflective quality of added a lot of style and without it, the table may have been too expected and common.

If you have the opportunity to add a special touch, adding a floral detail at each guests seat can complete the look of a table. Here we placed bundles of gumphrena, mint and statice tied with twine for each guest to take home.

We loved designing this wonderful “Farm to Table” tablescape using local, fresh August flowers from the fields around Philadelphia. With so many seasonal flowers available at local farm stands, why not try to “Farm to Table” designs for your next event.

The details of the laser cut program created by Two Paper Dolls was especially extraordinary and set the tone for more amazing details to come during this intimate day time wedding.

What a fun, fabulous image of the Bride’s shoes!

Farm fresh fruit and herbs were elegantly presented in zinc containers.

The cucumber slice swirling inside a glass water bottle was an extraordinary detail.

A custom designed white linen tablecloth dressed the 40 foot long feast table.

Fabulous peonies, garden roses, yarrow, hydrangea, and billy balls looked simply beautiful perfectly aligned down the center of the table.

A raspberry peony bloom that matched the floral detail on the vintage china was placed at each guests place setting. An additional special touch was the perfectly rolled raw silk napkins adorned with a Simon Pearce basil leaf pewter napkin ring.

Candlelight provided by silver candleabras and vintage silver candlesticks in the day time
is a wonderful way to provide unexpected romantic atmosphere.

The bride and groom loved the simple elegance of a long feast table and we did too!

Elegant burlap farm bags containing homemade basil oil, the Simon Pearce napkin ring, and a thank you note were provided for each guest to take home.

We love putting together all the details for this intimate day time wedding.

Susan viewed the compositions designed by TableArt as reminiscent of classic Renaissance still life’s. Susan was insprired by the heavy, oil based brush stokes of artists Monet and Manet. She applied this vision with her modern, mixed media photographic technique.

The results can be seen below in these truly beautiful pieces of art. We thought it would be interesting share with you the a few of the Rennaissance Master works that are somewhat similar to the compositions created for this very special wedding.

Three weeks to plan an over-the-top birthday party for 50 guests.
The TableArt team went into high gear brainstorming about all of the details
- the invitation, decor, menu, lighting, photography, and entertainment.

What better venue than Stephen Starr Events exclusive space Tangerine.
The ambiance and the atmosphere were perfect and the catering was top notch.
The client loved it!
With three weeks and counting and we had to move fast.

Much time and effort goes into the planning of an event.

Marie Labbancz was there to capture images of the details prior to guest arrival.
She is incredibly talented and always a pleasure to work with.

Led by a path of sultry candles and moss balls, guests felt like they were walking
into a private club as they entered Tangerine from Market Street.

As soon as guests arrived to the main event space, they realized they were in store for an extraordinary evening with a visual WOW factor of 10. With linens, lighting, and decor, Tangerine can be transformed into whatever vision a client may have.

Yes, we brought many lighters to light the hundreds of candles!

Factoring the time it takes to light the candles before guests arrive is always taken into consideration when creating time lines and assigning staff responsibilities for an event of this caliber. We always bring a “just in case” box to each event that includes everything imaginable – from Band-Aids to Windex.

So that when the client arrives everything is perfect and they can enjoy
a signature Stephen Starr Events cocktail. The cocktails for this particular event were chosen from the latest Stephen Starr Restaurant, Talula’s Garden.

The Artist – Sparkling Wine, Grapefruit Juice, Nasturtium Flower

The Beekeeper – Boozy Sun Tea, Wildflower Honey, Lavender Blossoms

The Wine Maker - “Spring-ria” White Wine, Fresh Fruit, Basil, Lemon Balm

No detail was overlooked.

To give the bar extra hotness, submerged cymbidium orchids topped with a floating candle were designed in modern straight sided glass cylinders and placed at staggered heights.

The bar was hot… but the raw bar carved out of ice and lit from below was sizzling!

Beautifully rolled-to-order sushi by Stephen Starr Events‘ in-house sushi chef
was part of the dairy and gluten free menu requested by the client.

The menu cards designed by Two PaperDolls looked fabulous placed on glass chargers and the leopard print linens were fun and unexpected for a male’s birthday party.

The client loved the dramatic effect of the stunning centerpieces.

There is nothing quite like the ambiance created from the back wall lit with over 80 votive candles. With all the elements pulled together, Tangerine looked amazing.

Guests played casino games throughout the evening provided by The Main Event.
Musical entertainment was provided by Minas Music

Every detail was considered.

No Nuts Nikki creatively displayed allergy free cupcakes
on silver candelabras adorned with glass beads.

Amazing birthday parties like this one keep the TableArt Team
on our toes and our creative juices flowing…fast!

The Great Chefs Event is an annual fundraising event that started in 2006 with Philadelphia’s greatest chefs coming together to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in the fight against childhood cancer. The 2011 Great Chefs Event sees the addition of more international great chefs – all to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research and the Vetri Foundation for Children.

TableArt was proud to provide brilliant yellow flowers to support this fantastic foodie event held at the Urban Outfitters Headquarters in the Navy Yard. 40 top chefs and dozens of mixologists, wineries, and breweries from around the world provided amazing, innovative tastes and delights.

This magnificent ice sculpture created by Fear No Ice dazzled everyone at the entrance.

Each chef had a station to present individual tastings. We were amazed at the creative diversity and innovative combinations of textures and flavors.

After we finished setting up flowers, we were greeted by Chef Jose Garces’s Guapo’s Taco Truck. Chef Garces graciously donated free lunch to all the volunteers. Kyra was hoping to meet Chef Garces.

Guapo’s Taco Truck serves eight varieties of Chef Garces’ popular tacos along with guacamole, tamales, quesadillas, and other Mexican treats and is available to come to any event!

Over 1,200 people attended this fantastic event!

Chef Robert Aikens, the executive chef from The Dandelion
served a delicious smoked salmon mouse on a crostini.

Look! Krya got to meet her favorite Philly chef Jose Garces of the Garces Restaurant Group. This images was quickly posted on her facebook page. Gotta love the power of social media.

Yellow was everywhere. Even the interiors of these quail eggs were bright yellow!

Chef Katsuya Fukushima of Traveling Chef is known for turning out inventive and unconventional cuisine. He superseded expectations with his creation of  ”lemonade” scallops with thai flavors topped with lemonade cotton candy.

Katsuya Fukushima and Jose Garces had quite the battle on Iron Chef.
It was amazing to be around such incredible talent all in one room.

Chef Rocco Whalen  from the Rocky River Wine Bar offered “Cleveland Nachos”.
The potatoes were thinly sliced by running them through a press powered by a hand drill.
The potatoes were deep fried and topped with a cream sauce and bacon.

Ok…so we generally don’t go to the events we participate in but
it was a blast to go and meet all of these amazing, talented chefs.

Jamie wasn’t sure of this chocolate filo dessert …It turned out to be one of our favorites.

After all those tastes and delights, a warm cup of cappacino from the La Columbe truck parked in the hallway of The Urban Outfitters headquarters was a perfect way to end the evening.
